Abstract
Novel fluorescent 7-methoxy- and 7-(diethylamino)-coumarins modified with azido-group on the side chain have been synthesized. Their photophysical properties and single crystals structure characteristics have been studied. In order to demonstrate the possibilities of fluorescent labeling, obtained coumarins have been tested with closo-dodecaborate derivative bearing terminal alkynyl group. CuI catalyzed Huisgen 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition reaction has led to fluorescent conjugates formation. The absorption-emission spectra of the formed conjugates have been presented. The antiproliferative activity and uptake of compounds against several human cell lines were evaluated.

Abstract
New insights via a multicomponent cyclocondensation reaction of 2-hydroxy benzaldehyde acetoacetic ester and malononitrile were attained under efficient conditions. A detailed mechanistic study exhibits that the reaction via multicomponent, one-pot, two-step incooperating three-components' reactants under nominal conditions efficiently synthesizes the intermediates in shorter than reported time along with the formation of a novel compound [5-amino-6-cyano-3-hydroxybenzo[c]coumarin] in the presence of Ni-Cu-Al-CO3 hydrotalcite as a heterogeneous catalyst. Hydrotalcite functions as an efficient and versatile catalyst as it is safe, easy to work up, and recyclable many times under ambient conditions, and the reaction time is shorter. The aforementioned conditions make these solid basic heterogeneous catalysts environmentally friendly. The product yield obtained was 89%. The product was characterized using FTIR, LCMS, and NMR. Electrochemical studies were also carried out to check the reduction and oxidation behavior. The synthesized product showed antimicrobial activity. Antimicrobial activity against human pathogens, viz, S. Aureus, P. Aeruginosa, and P. Bulgaria, was studied by using the agar well diffusion method. The molecular docking studies of 5-amino-6-cyano-3-hydroxybenzo[c]coumarin exhibit its suitable attachment at the active center of the type IIA topoisomerases and gyrase enzymes which suggest its potential antibacterial activity when compared using ciprofloxacin drug as the control.

Abstract
The fragrance field of perfumes has attracted considerable scientific, industrial, cultural, and civilizational interest. The marine odor is characterized by the specific smell of sea breeze, seashore, algae, and oyster, among others. Marine odor is a more recent fragrance and is considered as one of the green and modern fragrances. The smells reproducing the marine environment are described due to their content of Calone 1951 (7-methyl-2H-1,5-benzodioxepin-3(4H)-one), which is a synthetic compound. In addition to the synthetic group of benzodioxepanes, such as Calone 51 and its derivatives, three other groups of chemical compounds seem to represent the marine smell. The first group includes the polyunsaturated cyclic ((+)-Dictyopterene A) and acyclic (giffordene) hydrocarbons, acting as pheromones. The second group corresponds to polyunsaturated aldehydes, such as the (Z,Z)-3,6-nonadienal, (E,Z)-2,6-nonadienal, which are most likely derived from the degradation of polyunsaturated fatty acids. The third group is represented by small molecules such as sulfur compounds and halogenated phenols which are regarded as the main flavor compounds of many types of seafood. This review exposes, most notably, the knowledge state on the occurrence of marine ingredients in fragrance. We also provide a detailed discussion on several aspects of essential oils, which are the most natural ingredients from various marine sources used in fragrance and cosmetics, including synthetic and natural marine ingredients.

Abstract
Coumarin (2H-chromen-2-one) derivatives have important uses in medicinal and synthetic chemistry, for example, as fluorescent probes. These properties have prompted chemists to develop efficient synthetic methods to synthesize the coumarin core and/or to functionalize it. In this context, many metal-catalyzed syntheses of coumarins have been introduced; among them, copper-catalyzed reactions appear to be very promising owing to the non-toxicity and cheapness of copper complexes. In this mini-review, the results in this field are summarized. We hope to stimulate other applications of these complexes in the preparation of coumarin derivatives.

Abstract
Chitosan/magnesia hybrid films (CS-Mg) have been prepared via sol-gel process and employed as heterogeneous catalysts. An in situ generation of a magnesia network in the chitosan matrix was performed through hydrolysis/condensation reactions of magnesium ethoxide. The synthesized hybrid films were characterized using various analytical techniques, such as X-ray photo-electron spectroscopy (XPS), field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM) and atomic force microscopy (AFM). The hybrid films display excellent catalytic activities in Michael and Knoevenagel reactions via one pot or solvent-free approaches under microwave irradiation conditions. Chitosan/magnesia hybrid films, catalysed pyrimidine, benzochromene, coumarin and arylidene-malononitriles derivatives formation reactions occurred with highly efficient yields of 97%, 92%, 86% and 95% respectively. Due to the fact that the films are durable and insoluble in common organic solvents, they were easily separated and can be recycled up to five times without a considerable loss of their catalytic activity.

Abstract
Objectives Worldwide, diabetic neuropathy (DN) is a major complication of diabetes mellitus. The direct renin inhibitor aliskiren is recognized as a treatment for cardiovascular disease in diabetic patients, but little is known about its potential benefits in cases of diabetic neuropathy. Accordingly, we investigated the effects of aliskiren (ALIS) and gliclazide (GLZ) and their combination therapy on peripheral neuropathy in streptozotocin-induced diabetic rats. Methods In total, 112 adult Sprague-Dawley rats were used for this study. Diabetes was induced using streptozotocin (STZ), whereas the control group was treated with an equal volume of citrate buffer. The diabetic rats were divided randomly into six groups according to the proposed treatment regime: diabetic control (DC), gliclazide (GLZ), aliskiren (ALIS), ramipril (RAM), (GLZ + ALIS) and (GLZ + RAM). Behavioural responses to thermal (hot-plate) and mechanical (tail-pinch) pain were evaluated. After eight weeks of daily treatments, the animals were fasted and sacrificed. The blood samples were collected, with the serum separated and subjected to various biochemical and enzyme analyses so as to assess the effect of the treatments on diabetic peripheral neuropathy. Results After 8 weeks, aliskiren alone and in combination with gliclazide therapy had a significant effect (P < .001) in reducing blood glucose levels and showed increased hot-plate and tail-flick latencies compared with the diabetic control group. The threshold of mechanical hyperalgesia was also significantly elevated (P < .001). Conclusions/Interpretations These data suggest that either aliskerin alone or in combination with gliclazide can protect against the development and progression of diabetic neuropathy.

Abstract
In this paper, nine organic compounds based on the coumarin scaffold and different substituents were synthesized and used as high-performance photoinitiators for free radical photopolymerization (FRP) of meth(acrylate) functions under visible light irradiation using LED at 405 nm. In fact, these compounds showed a very high initiation capacity and very good polymerization profiles (both high rate of polymerization (Rp) and final conversion (FC)) using two and three-component photoinitiating systems based on coum/iodonium salt (0.1%/1% w/w) and coum/iodonium salt/amine (0.1%/1%/1% w/w/w), respectively. To demonstrate the efficiency of the initiation of photopolymerization, several techniques were used to study the photophysical and photochemical properties of coumarins, such as: UV-visible absorption spectroscopy, steady-state photolysis, real-time FTIR, and cyclic voltammetry. On the other hand, these compounds were also tested in direct laser write experiments (3D printing). The synthesis of photocomposites based on glass fiber or carbon fiber using an LED conveyor at 385 nm (0.7 W/cm2) was also examined.
