Abstract
BACKGROUND The body image of patients with cancer can be negatively affected due to treatment toxicities. Changes in body image may cause patients to experience social appearance anxiety. This study aimed to evaluate the body image and social appearance anxiety of patients with cancer undergoing radiotherapy. METHODS The cross-sectional study was conducted with 153 patients with cancer undergoing radiotherapy in a university hospital. The data were collected with a Patient Information Form, the Body Image Scale, and the Social Appearance Anxiety Scale and the Radiation Therapy Oncology Group Skin Toxicity Criteria. RESULTS Patients' mean body image score was 15.18 ± 8.26 (min = 0, max = 30), mean social appearance anxiety score was 45.29 ± 14.50 (min = 16, max = 80). Patients with low education levels and low-income levels had higher body image and social appearance anxiety scores (p < 0.01). Body image and social appearance anxiety scores were found to be higher in patients with advanced cancer, grade III-IV skin toxicity, pain, fatigue, and constipation (p < 0.05). CONCLUSIONS Radiotherapy may negatively affect body image and social appearance anxiety. Assessments of body image and social appearance anxiety regularly before, during, and after treatment are essential. Psychosocial support should be provided to patients to reduce body image and social appearance anxiety and increase their well-being. Patients with cancer especially those who have low income and education levels, advanced cancer stage and skin toxicity, and suffer from pain, fatigue, constipation, etc. should be supported by methods such as counseling and social support groups.

Abstract
Cancer is a leading cause of mortality and morbidity all over the world and the second major cause of death in Portugal. Dermatological side effects resulting from cancer treatment have a psychosocial impact on patients' lives, such as quality of life (QoL), body image, cognitive fusion and social inhibition. This systematic review aimed to explore and synthesize the psychosocial impact of dermatological side effects of cancer treatment, answering the following research objectives: (i) Do the dermatological side effects of the cancer treatment present any psychosocial impact for the patients? (ii) How does the psychosocial impact of the dermatological toxicities of the cancer treatment manifest in patients' lives? Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) guidelines were followed and guided a systematic search through the PubMed, Cochrane Library and PyscNet databases. The considered studies correlate dermatological side effects of cancer treatments and their psychological/psychosocial outcomes. The studies found were all published in peer-reviewed journals. The results obtained established that cancer treatment causes the most varied skin changes, consequently reducing self-esteem and QoL; disturbing body image; and contributing to cases of stress, depression and anxiety. There is still limited literature that profoundly investigates the experience of living with these skin toxicities. The development of research lines to improve knowledge in this field will allow for significant improvements in healthcare for patients undergoing cancer treatment who need to focus more on the psychosocial implications of skin toxicities. The novelty of this review lies in adding knowledge summarizing the psychosocial implications of dermatological side effects of cancer treatment to support healthcare providers in the development of integrative therapeutic strategies for these patients in their clinical practice.

Abstract
Dermatological toxicities (affecting the skin, mucous membranes, nails or hair) are frequently associated with cancer treatments. They can represent a real burden for patients, with physical, social and psychological repercussions. These dermatological adverse events can also persist long after the treatment has ended, especially after treatment with cytotoxic chemotherapeutic agents such as taxanes. There is a clear need for the development of suitable supportive care measures to help manage these toxicities. The place of a hydrotherapy treatment in this context remains to be clarified. This article summarizes the main data available on the quality of life, and more specifically the dermatological quality of life, of patients for whom hydrotherapy was proposed after breast cancer. © 2020 Elsevier Masson SAS. Abstract
PURPOSE The purposes of this study were to assess the levels of symptom distress, body image, and epidermal growth factor receptor inhibitors (EGFRI)-associated health-related quality of life (QoL); identify the factors related to EGFRI-associated health-related QoL; and examine the differences in EGFRI-associated health-related QoL by grade of skin toxicity in mCRC patients receiving target therapy. METHODS This cross-sectional study examined mCRC patients who received cetuximab-based target therapy from the oncology and CRC inpatient and outpatient departments of a medical center in northern Taiwan. Structured questionnaires were used to measure patients' symptom distress, body image, and EGFRI-associated health-related QoL. RESULTS Of the 111 mCRC patients studied, 79.2% reported acneiform eruption and 52.2% reported paronychia. The most common symptoms were dry skin and itching. Poor EGFRI-associated health-related QoL was associated with more symptom distress, more negative body image, a higher cumulative dose of target therapy, and being married; these factors explained 66.6% of the variance in EGFRI-associated health-related QoL. CONCLUSION Patient-specific skin care and emotional support are needed to relieve distressful dermatological symptoms and emotional distress during and post-treatment for mCRC.
