Synthesis of Hierarchical SnO2 Nanowire-TiO2 Nanorod Brushes Anchored to Commercially Available FTO-coated Glass Substrates

Fabrication of composite material of RuCo2O4 and graphene on nickel foam for supercapacitor electrodes

Supercapacitors are energy storage devices with the advantage of rapid charging and discharging, which need a higher specific capacitance and superior cycling stability. Hence, a composite material consisting of RuCo₂O₄ and reduced graphene oxide with a nanowire network structure was synthesized on nickel foam using a one-step hydrothermal method and annealing process. The nanowire network structure consists of nanowires with gaps that provide more active sites for electrochemical reactions and shorten the diffusion path of electrolyte ions. The prepared electrodes exhibit outstanding electrochemical performance with 2283 F g⁻¹ at 1 A g⁻¹. When the current density is 10 A g⁻¹, the specific capacitance of the electrodes is 1850 F g⁻¹, which maintains 81% of the initial specific capacitance. In addition, the prepared electrodes have a long-term cycling life with capacitance retention of 92.60% after 3000 cycles under the current density of 10 A g⁻¹. The composite material is a promising electrode material for high-performance supercapacitors.

The RuCo₂O₄/rGO@NF composite electrode has been prepared by a one-step hydrothermal method and annealing process, with high specific capacitance and excellent cycle stability.

Titanium-oxide based nanoscale and embeddable subzero temperature sensor using MIT deformation characteristics

In this research, we propose a nanoscale and embeddable subzero temperature sensor that is made with a temperature-dependent titanium-oxide based metal-insulator-transition (MIT) device. For a nanoscale two-terminal structured MIT device, the MIT device's characteristics are noticeably changed from abrupt to gradual MIT under zero temperature, which is called MIT deformation. On the basis of the MIT deformation characteristics, subzero temperatures can be detected by reading current levels as temperature changes. Furthermore, this sensor has desirable sensing properties such as high-linearity and proper sensitivity. The obtained results strongly show that titanium-oxides with CMOS process compatibility, cost-effectiveness, nontoxicity, etc, can be applied at the nanoscale and embeddable on subzero temperature sensors on a chip.

High-Performance Self-Powered UV Detector Based on SnO2-TiO2 Nanomace Arrays

Photoelectrochemical cell-typed self-powered UV detectors have attracted intensive research interest due to their low cost, simple fabrication process, and fast response. In this paper, SnO₂-TiO₂ nanomace arrays composed of SnO₂ nanotube trunk and TiO₂ nanobranches were prepared using soft chemical methods, and an environment-friendly self-powered UV photodetector using this nanostructure as the photoanode was assembled. Due to the synergistic effect of greatly accelerated electron-hole separation, enhanced surface area, and reduced charge recombination provided by SnO₂-TiO₂ nanomace array, the nanostructured detector displays an excellent performance over that based on bare SnO₂ arrays. The impact of the growing time of TiO₂ branches on the performance of UV photodetector was systematically studied. The device based on optimized SnO₂-TiO₂ nanomace arrays exhibits a high responsivity of 0.145 A/W at 365 nm, a fast rising time of 0.037 s, and a decay time of 0.015 s, as well as excellent spectral selectivity. This self-powered photodetector is a promising candidate for high-sensitivity, high-speed UV-detecting application.
