Abstract
A 3D-supramolecular nickel integrated Ni-SDZ complex was synthesized using sodium salt of sulfadiazine as the ligand and nickel(II) acetate as the metal salt using a condensation process and slow evaporation approach to growing the single crystal. The metal complex was characterized for its composition, functional groups, surface morphology as well as complex 3D structure, by resorting to various analytical techniques. The interacting surface and stability as well as reactivity of the complex were carried out using the DFT platform. From ADMET parameters, human Intestinal Absorbance data revealed that the compound has the potential to be well absorbed, and also Ni-SDZ complex cannot cross the blood-brain barrier (BBB). Additionally, the complex's DNA binding affinity and in-vivo and in-vitro cytotoxic studies were explored utilizing UV-Vis absorbance titration, viscosity measurements, and S. pombe cells and brine shrimp lethality tests. In visible light radiation, the Ni-SDZ complex displayed exceptional photo-degradation characteristics of approximately 70.19% within 70 min against methylene blue (MB).

Abstract
An imino bipyridine cobalt(II) complex was developed for the electrocatalytic reduction of CO2 to formate in acetonitrile with a faradaic efficiency of approximately 80 %. For comparison, a symmetric bis-imino pyridine complex showed lower catalytic activity because of less conjugation in the system. Cyclic voltammetry, electron paramagnetic resonance and IR spectroscopy studies provided mechanistic details and the structures of the key intermediates. DFT calculations confirmed the role of large π-conjugated groups for stabilizing key intermediates through electronic conjugation.

Abstract
Elevated concentrations of heavy metals and antibiotics often coexist in agricultural soils due to land application of large amounts of animal manure. The experiment was conducted to investigate the single and joint effects of different concentrations of sulfadiazine (SDZ) (10mgkg-1 and 100mgkg-1) and copper (Cu) (20mgkg-1 and 200mgkg-1) on soil microbial activity, i.e. fluorescein diacetate (FDA) hydrolysis, dehydrogenase (DHA) and basal respiration (BR), microbial biomass and community structure estimated using phospholipid fatty acids (PLFA), and community level physiological profiles (CLPP) using MicroResp™. High concentration of SDZ or Cu significantly reduced microbial activity during the whole incubation period, while the inhibiting effect of low concentration of SDZ or Cu was only visible within 14 days of incubation. The total PLFA concentration was reduced by SDZ and/or Cu, which resulted from reduced bacterial and actinomycetic biomass. The addition of SDZ and/or Cu decreased the bacteria:fungi ratio, whereas only the addition of high Cu concentration significantly decreased Gram+:Gram- ratio. The addition of Cu obviously inhibited the dissipation of SDZ, which could affect the combined effects of both on microbial activity, biomass and community structure. Principal component analysis of the CLPP and PLFA data clearly revealed the notable effects of SDZ and/or Cu on soil microbial community structure.

Abstract
Allergic reactions to sulfonamide-based drugs are quite common; hence, medications containing sulfonamides are prescribed carefully. Metal ion complexation may block the nitrogen binding site of sulfonamide by complexation and reduce such responses. In this study, trace concentrations of Zn were found to bind with sulfanilamide at pH ∼ 1. The complexation was studied in water as well as in vesicular medium of polyethylene glycol (PEG) and a block copolymer, PPG-PEG-PPG. The binding constants (k) of Zn-sulfanilamide complex were determined in water, PEG, and PPG-PEG-PPG block copolymer media. The values suggest that complexation occurs best in water followed by PPG-PEG-PPG, PEG #4000, and PEG #12000. Though the binding constants are high in water and block copolymer media, the complex is not very stable as the absorbance value for the complex was found to decline with time. The same complex when prepared in polymer matrix shows higher stability. The results prompted us to explore the extraction possibilities of the Zn-sulfanilamide complex by using aqueous biphasic extraction systems comprising the polymers against sodium sulfate solution. The complex was analyzed for its allergenic response in different media by competitive enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) technique. The allergic response of the compounds in the respective media is the resultant of the binding constant and the stability of the complex in that particular medium.

Abstract
A novel copper (II) complex of sulfamethazine (4-amino-N-[4,6-dimethyl-2-pyrimidinyl] benzene sulfonamide, Hsmz) ([Cu(smz)2bipy]⋅0.8H2O; bipy: 2,2'-bipyridine) has been synthesized and characterized by single crystal X-ray diffraction, EPR, IR, UV-vis and electrochemical methods. The single crystal X-ray analysis indicated that the compound crystallizes in the monoclinic space group P21/c with Z=4. The central copper (II) ion is coordinated by two bidentate sulfamethazine anions through the nitrogen atoms together with one bidentate 2,2'-bipyridine ligand forming the octahedral geometry. The characteristic vibration bands support the X-ray analysis results. The EPR spectral analysis has led to that the ground state wave function of the unpaired electron of copper ion is [Formula: see text] ((2)B1g state) and also indicated that the metal ions are located in distorted octahedral sites (D4h) elongated along the z-axis. The electrochemical studies of the complex were also carried out to determine the active sites of the ligands. The cyclic and square wave voltammetric techniques have been used to determine the complex.

Abstract
The continuous search for new molecules with therapeutic abilities has led to the synthesis and characterization of a large number of metal complexes, proven to exhibit potential as pharmacological agents through their antibacterial, antiviral, antifungal and antineoplastic properties. As serum albumins play a key role in drug pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics, the study of coordination compounds affinity towards this class of proteins, as well as understanding the mechanism through which they interact is crucial. The aim of this review is to focus on the structure and biological functions of bovine serum albumin, the design of metal complexes that are able to bind to the biomolecule, as well as the experimental techniques employed in the study and evaluation of these interactions.

Abstract
The infrared and Raman spectra of (E)-4-((anthracen-9-ylmethylene)amino)-N-carbamimidoylbenzene sulfonamide have been recorded and analysed. Geometry and harmonic vibrational wavenumbers were calculated theoretically using Gaussian03 set of quantum chemistry codes. The data obtained from vibrational wavenumber calculations are used to assign vibrational bands found in infrared and Raman spectra of the studied molecule. The red-shift of the NH stretching band in the infrared spectrum from the computed wavenumber indicates the weakening of the NH bond. The NH stretching band has split into a doublet in the IR spectrum owing to the Davydov coupling between neighbouring units. The geometrical parameters of the title compound are in agreement with the reported similar derivatives. The calculated first hyperpolarizability is comparable with the reported value of similar structures and may be an attractive object for further studies on non-linear optics. The important thermodynamical parameters are also reported.

Abstract
The synthesis, structural characterization, voltammetric experiments and antibacterial activity of [Ni(sulfisoxazole)(2)(H(2)O)(4)].2H(2)O and [Ni(sulfapyridine)(2)] were studied and compared with similar previously reported copper complexes. [Ni(sulfisoxazole)(2)(H(2)O)(4)].2H(2)O crystallized in a monoclinic system, space group C2/c where the nickel ion was in a slightly distorted octahedral environment, coordinated with two sulfisoxazole molecules through the heterocyclic nitrogen and four water molecules. [Ni(sulfapyridine)(2)] crystallized in a orthorhombic crystal system, space group Pnab. The nickel ion was in a distorted octahedral environment, coordinated by two aryl amine N from two sulfonamides acting as monodentate ligands and four N atoms (two sulfonamidic N and two heterocyclic N) from two different sulfonamide molecules acting as bidentate ligands. Differential pulse voltammograms were recorded showing irreversible peaks at 1040 and 1070 mV, respectively, attributed to Ni(II)/Ni(III) process. [Ni(sulfisoxazole)(2)(H(2)O)(4)].2H(2)O and [Ni(sulfapyridine)(2)] presented different antibacterial behavior against Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli from the similar copper complexes and they were inactive against Mycobacterium tuberculosis.

Abstract
AbstractCu (II) complexes with the sterically hindered diphenol derivatives 3,5-di(tert-butyl)-1,2-benzenediol (I), 4,6-di(tert-butyl)-1,2,3-benzenetriol (II) and the sulfur-containing 4,6-di(tert-butyl)-3-(2-hydroxyethylsulfanyl)-1,2-benzenediol (III) and 2-[4,6-di(tert-butyl)-2,3-dihydroxyphenylsulfanyl]acetic acid (IV) have been synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis, TG/DTA, FT-IR, ESR, XPS, XPD and conductivity measurements. Compounds I–III can coordinate in their singly deprotonated forms and act as bidentate ligands. These compounds yield Cu (II) complexes of the stoichiometry Cu(L)2, which have square planar geometry (g| > g⊥ > ge). Unlike them, compound IV behaves as a terdentate ligand, and its complex Cu(LIV)2 has distorted octahedral geometry. According to ESR data, only the Cu(LII)2 complex contains a very small amount of phenoxyl radicals. Antimicrobial activities of these ligands and their respective Cu (II) complexes have been determined with respect to Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, as well as on yeasts. Their phytotoxic properties against Chlorella vulgaris 157 were also examined.

Abstract
The molecular structure of [Cu(sulfadimet)(2)].SO(CH(3))(2) (sulfadimet=sulfadimethoxine=4-p-aminobenzenesulfonamido-2,6-dimethoxypyrimidine) was determined by single crystal X-ray diffractometry. It crystallizes in the monoclinic space group P2(1)/c with Z=4. The Cu(II) cation is in a distorted CuN(5) square pyramidal coordination, involving four sulfadimethoxine molecules, one of them acting as a bidentate ligand. The infrared spectrum is briefly discussed on the basis of the structural peculiarities of the complex.
