Abstract
The reaction of PhBCl2 with 1H-1,2,4-λ(3)-diazaphosphole in the presence of NEt3 gives a new scorpionate ligand, phenyl-tris(1,2,4-diazaphospholyl)borate (PhTdap). The coordination behaviour of this ligand toward transition and non-transition metals has been comprehensively studied. In the thallium(I) complex, Tl(PhTdap), κ(2)-N,N bonding supported with intramolecular η(3)-phenyl coordination has been observed in the solid state. Tl(PhTdap) also shows unusual intermolecular π-interactions between five-membered diazaphosphole rings and the thallium atom giving infinite molecular chains in the crystal. In the square planar complex [Pd(C,N-C6H4CH2NMe2)(PhTdap)], κ(2)-bonded scorpionate has been detected in both solution and in the solid state. For other studied compounds with the central metal ion Ti(IV), Mo(II), Mn(I), Fe(II), Ru(II), Co(II), Co(III), Ni(II) and Cd(II), the κ(3)-N,N,N coordination pattern was observed. Electronic properties of PhTdap and its ligand-field strength were elucidated from UV-Vis spectra of transition-metal species. The CH/P replacement on going from tris(pyrazolyl)borate to the ligand PhTdap causes a slight increase in electronic density rendered to the central metal atom. The following order of ligand-field strength has been established: HB(3,5-Me2pz)3 < PhB(pz)3 < HB(1,2,4-triazolyl) < HB(pz)3 < PhB(1,2,4-triazolyl) < PhTdap. The crystal structures of ten metal complexes bearing the new ligand are reported. The possibility of PhTdap coordination through the phosphorus atom is also briefly discussed.

Abstract
Tetrahedral copper(I) TpCuP complexes 1-15, where Tp is a N,N,N-tris(azolyl)borate and P is a tertiary phosphine, have been synthesized and characterized by means of NMR, ESI-MS, and XAS-EXAFS, and X-ray diffraction analyses on the representative complexes 1 and 10, respectively. All copper(I) complexes were evaluated for their antiproliferative activity against a panel of human cancer cell lines (including cisplatin and multidrug-resistant sublines). The two most effective complexes [HB(pz)3]Cu(PCN), 1, and [HB(pz)3]Cu(PTA), 2, showed selectivity toward tumor vs normal cells, inhibition of 26S proteasome activity associated with endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress, and unfolded protein response (UPR) activation. No biochemical hallmarks of apoptosis were detected, and morphology studies revealed an extensive cytoplasmic vacuolization coherently with a paraptosis-like cell death mechanism. Finally, the antitumor efficacy of complex 1 was validated in the murine Lewis Lung Carcinoma (LLC) model.

Abstract
Several azaheterometallocubane complexes containing [MTi3N4] cores have been prepared by the reaction of [{Ti(eta5-C5Me5)(mu-NH)}3(mu3-N)] (1) with zinc(II) and copper(I) derivatives. The treatment of 1 with zinc dichloride in toluene at room temperature produces the adduct [Cl2Zn{(mu3-NH)3Ti3(eta5-C5Me5)3(mu3-N)}] (2). Attempts to crystallize 2 in dichloromethane gave yellow crystals of the ammonia adduct [(H3N)Cl2Zn{(mu3-NH)Ti3(eta5-C5Me5)3(mu-NH)2(mu3-N)}] (3). The analogous reaction of 1 with alkyl, (trimethylsilyl)cyclopentadienyl, or amido zinc complexes [ZnR2] leads to the cube-type derivatives [RZn{(mu3-N)(mu3-NH)2Ti3(eta5-C5Me5)3(mu3-N)}] (R = CH2SiMe3 (5), CH2Ph (6), Me (7), C5H4SiMe3 (8), N(SiMe3)2 (9)) via RH elimination. The amido complex 9 decomposes in the presence of ambient light to generate the alkyl derivative [{Me3Si(H)N(Me)2SiCH2}Zn{(mu3-N)(mu3-NH)2Ti3(eta5-C5Me5)3(mu3-N)}] (10). The chloride complex 2 reacts with lithium cyclopentadienyl or lithium indenyl reagents to give the cyclopentadienyl or indenyl zinc derivatives [RZn{(mu3-N)(mu3-NH)2Ti3(eta5-C5Me5)3(mu3-N)}] (R = C5H5 (11), C9H7 (12)). Treatment of 1 with copper(I) halides in toluene at room temperature leads to the adducts [XCu{(mu3-NH)3Ti3(eta5-C5Me5)3(mu3-N)}] (X = Cl (13), I (14)). Complex 13 reacts with lithium bis(trimethylsilyl)amido in toluene to give the precipitation of [{Cu(mu4-N)(mu3-NH)2Ti3(eta5-C5Me5)3(mu3-N)}2] (15). Complex 15 is prepared in a higher yield through the reaction of 1 with [{CuN(SiMe3)2}4] in toluene at 150 degrees C. The addition of triphenylphosphane to 15 in toluene produces the single-cube compound [(Ph3P)Cu{(mu3-N)(mu3-NH)2Ti3(eta5-C5Me5)3(mu3-N)}] (16). The X-ray crystal structures of 3, 8, 9, and 15 have been determined.

Abstract
Complexes [PPh3Cu(Tr(Mes,Me))] (1), [PPh3Cu(Tr(Me,o-Py))] (2), and [PPh3Cu(Br(Mes)pz(o-Py))] (3) (Tr(Mes,Me) = hydrotris[1,4-dihydro-3-methyl-4-mesityl-5-thioxo-1,2,4-triazolyl]borate; Tr(Me,o-Py) = hydrotris[1,4-dihydro-4-methyl-3-(2-pyridyl)-5-thioxo-1,2,4-triazolyl]borate; Br(Mes)pz(o-Py) = hydro[bis(thioxotriazolyl)-3-(2-pyridyl)pyrazolyl]borate; PPh3 = triphenylphosphine) were synthesized by the reaction of dinuclear complexes [Cu(Tr(Mes,Me))]2, [Cu(Tr(Me,o-Py))]2, [Cu(Br(Mes)pz(o-Py))]2, and PPh3. 1-3 were characterized by 1H, 13C, and 31P NMR spectroscopy and ESI-mass spectrometry. Crystal structure analyses were performed for 1 and 2. Both complexes crystallize in the triclinic P space group with the metal in a slightly distorted tetrahedral geometry (S3P coordination) bound by a kappa3-S3 ligand and a PPh3 molecule. The solution molecular structures were investigated by means of variable-temperature (210-310 K, CDCl3, 1-2; 200-310 K, CD2Cl2, 3) and NOESY NMR spectroscopy. The solution structures of 1-2 are in accordance with the X-ray structures, and the complexes do not exhibit fluxional behavior. On the other hand, 3 is subject to an equilibrium between two species with a coalescing temperature of approximately 260 K. DFT geometry optimizations suggest that the major species of 3 consists of the Br(Mes)pz(o-Py) ligand bound to Cu(I) in the kappa3-S2H fashion with two C=S groups and a [Cu...H-B] interaction. A PPh3 completes the copper coordination (S2HP coordination). The complex [TuCu(Tr(Mes,Me))] (4) (Tu = thiourea) was crystallized using an excess of Tu with respect to [Cu(Tr(Me,2-Py))]2 (approximately a 6:1 ratio). The metal adopts a distorted tetrahedral geometry with an overall S3H coordination determined by the bound kappa3-S2H ligand (two C=S groups and a [B-H...Cu] interaction) and by a Tu. The reactivity of dinuclear complexes [Cu(Tr(Mes,Me))]2, [Cu(Tr(Me,o-Py))]2, and [Cu(Br(Mes)pz(o-Py))]2 with monodentate ligands was investigated by means of NMR titrations with PPh3, Tu. and pyridine (Py), and formation constants for the adducts [DCu(L)] (D = monodentate donor, L = tripodal ligand) were determined.

Abstract
Tris(pyrazolyl)methanides, [C(3,5-R2pz)3]-, contain an unassociated tetrahedral carbanionic centre in the bridgehead position. In addition to nitrogen donor centres for transition metal coordination, an accessible reactive site for further manipulations is available in the backbone of the ligand. The coordination variability of the ambidental C-/N ligand [C(3,5-Me2pz)3]- was elucidated by investigating its coinage metal complexes. Two principle coordination modes were found for complexes of general formula [LMPR3] (with M = Cu(I), Ag(I), Au(I); L =[C(3,5-Me2pz)3]-; R = Ph, OMe). While for Cu(I) (2,3) and Ag(I) (4) complexes the anionic ligand acts as a face-capping, six electron N3-donor, gold(I) (5) is coordinated by the bridging carbanion yielding a two coordinate Au(I) complex comprising a covalent Au-C bond. The complexes featuring the kappa3-coordinated N3-donor ligand were investigated by 31P CP (MAS) NMR in the solid state.

Abstract
Four copper(I) tris(pyrazolyl)hydroborate complexes are reported with the fairly bulky tris[3-(p-tert-butylphenyl)-5-methylpyrazol-1-yl]hydroborate ligand (Tp()t(Bu-)(Ph,Me)). Tp()t(Bu-)(Ph,Me)Cu(CH(3)CN) (1) was synthesized from CuCl and Tp()t(Bu-)(Ph,Me)Li(CH(3)CN). The acetonitrile ligand in 1 was easily replaced by CO, PPh(3), and P(t)()Bu(3), forming Tp()t(Bu-)(Ph,Me)Cu(CO) (2), Tp()t(Bu-)(Ph,Me)Cu(PPh(3)) (3), and Tp()t(Bu-)(Ph,Me)Cu(P(t)()Bu(3)) (4), respectively. Complexes 1-4 have been crystallographically characterized. 1.4CH(3)CN, 173 K: C(52)H(67)BCuN(11), triclinic, P&onemacr;, a = 13.4201(10) Å, b= 15.132(2) Å, c = 15.2125(13) Å, alpha = 60.743(6) degrees, beta = 73.211(4) degrees, gamma = 74.839(5) degrees, Z = 2, R1 = 6.81% (wR2 = 18.91%). 2, 296 K: C(43)H(52)BCuN(6)O, monoclinic, C2/c, a = 25.592(4) Å, b = 12.434(2) Å, c = 28.044(3) Å, beta = 104.073(9) degrees, Z = 8, R1 = 7.47% (wR2 = 22.08%). 3.CH(2)Cl(2), 173 K: C(61)H(69)BCl(2)CuN(6)P, triclinic, P&onemacr;, a= 12.5080(13) Å, b = 15.159(3) Å, c = 17.151(2) Å, alpha = 64.271(10) degrees, beta = 79.073(7) degrees, gamma = 86.572(8) degrees, Z = 2, R1 = 5.13% (wR2 = 13.28%). 4.0.5 hexane, 298 K: C(57)H(86)BCuN(6)P, triclinic, P&onemacr;, a = 13.337(2) Å, b = 13.435(2) Å, c = 17.386(2) Å, alpha = 88.371(7) degrees, beta = 71.863(8) degrees, gamma = 80.223(9) degrees, Z = 2, R1 = 6.96% (wR2 = 18.62%). The Tp()t(Bu-)(Ph,Me) ligands in 1, 2, and 3 bind in a tridentate fashion; the CH(3)CN and CO ligands fit comfortably within the pocket formed by the tert-butylphenyl substituents and the PPh(3) ligand interleaves between the pyrazole arms. The flexibility of the pocket was probed by calculating the area of the triangle created by connecting the midpoints of the 3-phenyl groups; this parameter increases by 15% for 3 (the largest) over 1 (the smallest). Thus, the pocket exhibits some flexibility, found to be due to both steric and electronic factors. Complex 4 features a bidentate Tp()t(Bu-)(Ph,Me) ligand as the P(t)()Bu(3) apparently exceeds the pocket's flexibility.
