Study of COVID-19 mathematical model of fractional order via modified Euler method

Applications of Machine Learning (ML) and Mathematical Modeling (MM) in Healthcare with Special Focus on Cancer Prognosis and Anticancer Therapy: Current Status and Challenges

The use of data-driven high-throughput analytical techniques, which has given rise to computational oncology, is undisputed. The widespread use of machine learning (ML) and mathematical modeling (MM)-based techniques is widely acknowledged. These two approaches have fueled the advancement in cancer research and eventually led to the uptake of telemedicine in cancer care. For diagnostic, prognostic, and treatment purposes concerning different types of cancer research, vast databases of varied information with manifold dimensions are required, and indeed, all this information can only be managed by an automated system developed utilizing ML and MM. In addition, MM is being used to probe the relationship between the pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics (PK/PD interactions) of anti-cancer substances to improve cancer treatment, and also to refine the quality of existing treatment models by being incorporated at all steps of research and development related to cancer and in routine patient care. This review will serve as a consolidation of the advancement and benefits of ML and MM techniques with a special focus on the area of cancer prognosis and anticancer therapy, leading to the identification of challenges (data quantity, ethical consideration, and data privacy) which are yet to be fully addressed in current studies.

Stability and numerical analysis via non-standard finite difference scheme of a nonlinear classical and fractional order model

In this paper, we develop a new mathematical model for an in-depth understanding of COVID-19 (Omicron variant). The mathematical study of an omicron variant of the corona virus is discussed. In this new Omicron model, we used idea of dividing infected compartment further into more classes i.e asymptomatic, symptomatic and Omicron infected compartment. Model is asymptotically locally stable whenever R0<1 and when R0≤1 at disease free equilibrium the system is globally asymptotically stable. Local stability is investigated with Jacobian matrix and with Lyapunov function global stability is analyzed. Moreover basic reduction number is calculated through next generation matrix and numerical analysis will be used to verify the model with real data. We consider also the this model under fractional order derivative. We use Grunwald-Letnikov concept to establish a numerical scheme. We use nonstandard finite difference (NSFD) scheme to simulate the results. Graphical presentations are given corresponding to classical and fractional order derivative. According to our graphical results for the model with numerical parameters, the population's risk of infection can be reduced by adhering to the WHO's suggestions, which include keeping social distances, wearing facemasks, washing one's hands, avoiding crowds, etc.

A new fractional mathematical model to study the impact of vaccination on COVID-19 outbreaks

This study proposes a new fractional mathematical model to study the impact of vaccination on COVID-19 outbreaks by categorizing infected people into non-vaccinated, first dose-vaccinated, and second dose-vaccinated groups and exploring the transmission dynamics of the disease outbreaks. We present a non-linear integer order mathematical model of COVID-19 dynamics and modify it by introducing Caputo fractional derivative operator. We start by proving the good state of the model and then calculating its reproduction number. The Caputo fractional-order model is discretized by applying a reliable numerical technique. The model is proven to be stable. The classical model is fitted to the corresponding cumulative number of daily reported cases during the vaccination regime in India between 01 August 2021 and 21 July 2022. We explore the sensitivities of the reproduction number with respect to the model parameters. It is shown that the effective transmission rate and the recovery rate of unvaccinated infected individuals are the most sensitive parameters that drive the transmission dynamics of the pandemic in the population. Numerical simulations are used to demonstrate the applicability of the proposed fractional mathematical model via the memory index at different values of 0 . 7 , 0 . 8 , 0 . 9 and 1. We discuss the epidemiological significance of the findings and provide perspectives on future health policy tendencies. For instance, efforts targeting a decrease in the transmission rate and an increase in the recovery rate of non-vaccinated infected individuals are required to ensure virus-free population. This can be achieved if the population strictly adhere to precautionary measures, and prompt and adequate treatment is provided for non-vaccinated infectious individuals. Also, given the ongoing community spread of COVID-19 in India and almost the pandemic-affected countries worldwide, the need to scale up the effort of mass vaccination policy cannot be overemphasized in order to reduce the number of unvaccinated infections with a view to halting the transmission dynamics of the disease in the population.

Fractional model for Middle East respiratory syndrome coronavirus on a complex heterogeneous network

In this paper, we present a new fractional epidemiological model on a heterogeneous network to investigate Middle East respiratory syndrome (MERS-CoV), which is caused by a virus in the coronavirus family. We also consider the development of equations for the camel population, given that it is the primary animal source of the virus, as well as direct human interaction with this population. The model is configured in an SIS form for both the human population and the camel population. We study the equilibrium positions of the system and the conditions for the existence of each of them, as well as the local stability of each equilibrium position. Then, we provide some numerical examples that compare real data and numerical results.

Mathematical modeling and analysis of COVID-19: A study of new variant Omicron

We construct a new mathematical model to better understand the novel coronavirus (omicron variant). We briefly present the modeling of COVID-19 with the omicron variant and present their mathematical results. We study that the Omicron model is locally asymptotically stable if the basic reproduction number  R 0 < 1 , while for  R 0 ≤ 1 , the model at the disease-free equilibrium is globally asymptotically stable. We extend the model to the second-order differential equations to study the possible occurrence of the layers(waves). We then extend the model to a fractional stochastic version and studied its numerical results. The real data for the period ranging from November 1, 2021, to January 23, 2022, from South Africa are considered to obtain the realistic values of the model parameters. The basic reproduction number for the suggested data is found to be approximate  R 0 ≈ 2 . 1107 which is very close to the actual basic reproduction in South Africa. We perform the global sensitivity analysis using the PRCC method to investigate the most influential parameters that increase or decrease  R 0 . We use the new numerical scheme recently reported for the solution of piecewise fractional differential equations to present the numerical simulation of the model. Some graphical results for the model with sensitive parameters are given which indicate that the infection in the population can be minimized by following the recommendations of the world health organizations (WHO), such as social distances, using facemasks, washing hands, avoiding gathering, etc.

A vigorous study of fractional order COVID-19 model via ABC derivatives

As of late, numerous mathematical compartmental models have been considered to even more likely comprehend the Covid illness. The greater part of these models depends on integer-order derivatives which cannot catch the fading memory and crossover behavior found in many biological phenomena. Along these lines, the Covid illness in this paper is studied by investigating the elements of COVID-19 contamination utilizing the non-integer Atangana-Baleanu-Caputo derivative. Using the fixed-point approach, the existence and uniqueness of the integral of the fractional model for COVID is further deliberated. Along with Ulam-Hyers stability analysis, for the given model, all basic properties are studied. Furthermore, numerical simulations are performed using Newton polynomial and Adams Bashforth approaches for determining the impact of parameters change on the dynamical behavior of the systems.

Semi-Analytical Solutions for Fuzzy Caputo–Fabrizio Fractional-Order Two-Dimensional Heat Equation

In the analysis in this article, we developed a scheme for the computation of a semi-analytical solution to a fuzzy fractional-order heat equation of two dimensions having some external diffusion source term. For this, we applied the Laplace transform along with decomposition techniques and the Adomian polynomial under the Caputo–Fabrizio fractional differential operator. Furthermore, for obtaining a semi-analytical series-type solution, the decomposition of the unknown quantity and its addition established the said solution. The obtained series solution was calculated and approached the approximate solution of the proposed equation. For the validation of our scheme, three different examples have been provided, and the solutions were calculated in fuzzy form. All the three illustrations simulated two different fractional orders between 0 and 1 for the upper and lower portions of the fuzzy solution. The said fractional operator is nonsingular and global due to the presence of the exponential function. It globalizes the dynamical behavior of the said equation, which is guaranteed for all types of fuzzy solution lying between 0 and 1 at any fractional order. The fuzziness is also included in the unknown quantity due to the fuzzy number providing the solution in fuzzy form, having upper and lower branches.
