Abstract
INTRODUCTION Transradial access (TRA) has rapidly emerged as the preferred vascular access site for coronary angiography and percutaneous coronary intervention. Radial artery occlusion (RAO) remains as an important complication of TRA as it precludes future ipsilateral transradial procedures. While intraprocedural anticoagulation has been studied extensively, the definitive role of postprocedural anticoagulation has not yet been established. METHODS AND ANALYSIS The Rivaroxaban Post-Transradial Access for the Prevention of Radial Artery Occlusion trial is a multicentre, prospective, randomised, open-label, blinded-endpoint design study investigating the efficacy and safety of rivaroxaban to reduce the incidence of RAO. Eligible patients will undergo randomisation to receive either rivaroxaban 15 mg once daily for 7 days or to no additional postprocedural anticoagulation. Doppler ultrasound to assess radial artery patency will be performed at 30 days. ETHICS AND DISSEMINATION The study protocol has been approved by the Ottawa Health Science Network Research Ethics Board (approval number 20180319-01H). The study results will be disseminated via conference presentations and peer-reviewed publications. TRIAL REGISTRATION NUMBER NCT03630055.

Abstract
Objective This study aimed to investigate the therapeutic effect of enhanced external counterpulsation (EECP) on radial artery occlusion (RAO) through the oscillatory shear (OS) and pulsatile shear (PS) models of human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVECs) and RAO dog models. Methods We used high-throughput sequencing data GSE92506 in GEO database to conduct time-series analysis of functional molecules on OS intervened HUVECs, and then compared the different molecules and their functions between PS and OS. Additionally, we studied the effect of EECP on the radial artery hemodynamics in Labrador dogs through multi-channel physiological monitor. Finally, we studied the therapeutic effect of EECP on RAO at the histological level through Hematoxylin-Eosin staining, Masson staining, ATPase staining and immunofluorescence in nine Labrador dogs. Results With the extension of OS intervention, the cell cycle decreased, blood vessel endothelial cell proliferation and angiogenesis responses of HUVECs were down-regulated. By contrast, the inflammation and oxidative stress responses and the related pathways of anaerobic metabolism of HUVECs were up-regulated. Additionally, we found that compared with OS, PS can significantly up-regulate muscle synthesis, angiogenesis, and NO production related molecules. Meanwhile, PS can significantly down-regulate inflammation and oxidative stress related molecules. The invasive arterial pressure monitoring showed that 30Kpa EECP treatment could significantly increase the radial artery peak pressure (p = 0.030, 95%CI, 7.236-82.524). Masson staining showed that RAO significantly increased muscle interstitial fibrosis (p = 0.002, 95%CI, 0.748-2.128), and EECP treatment can reduce this change (p = 0.011, 95%CI, -1.676 to -0.296). ATPase staining showed that RAO significantly increased the area of type II muscle fibers (p = 0.004, 95%CI, 7.181-25.326), and EECP treatment could reduce this change (p = 0.001, 95%CI, -29.213 to -11.069). In addition, immunofluorescence showed that EECP increased angiogenesis in muscle tissue (p = 0.035, 95%CI, 0.024-0.528). Conclusion EECP improves interstitial fibrosis and hypoxia, and increases angiogenesis of muscle tissue around radial artery induced by RAO.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES To compare patient satisfaction, procedural variables, and safety with transradial access (TRA) and transfemoral access (TFA) in patients undergoing transarterial chemoembolization (TACE) for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). MATERIALS AND METHODS From February 2019 to August 2021, 130 patients undergoing TACE for HCC were randomly allocated to the TRA (n = 65) or TFA (n = 65) group. Vascular closure devices were not used after TFA-TACE. All patients completed the post-catheterization questionnaire and 8-item Short-Form Health Survey 1 day after TACE. RESULTS Technical success rate, crossover rate, contrast agent dose, fluoroscopy time, procedure time, air kerma, dose-area product, length of hospital stay, and total cost were similar between the two groups (all p > 0.05). The incidence and severity of adverse events were also similar between the two groups (all p > 0.05). However, overall discomfort, difficulty going to the bathroom, difficulty feeding or self-caring, difficulty walking, general health, physical function, role physical function, social function, mental health, and role emotional function were better in the TRA group than in the TFA group (all p < 0.001). Consequently, more patients preferred the current access for their next procedure in the TRA group than in the TFA group (90.8% vs. 24.6%; p < 0.001). CONCLUSION In patients undergoing TACE for HCC, using TRA instead of TFA can improve patient satisfaction without compromising procedural variables and safety. KEY POINTS • Transradial access (TRA) enabled early ambulation after transarterial chemoembolization (TACE), resulting in significant increase in activities of daily living and health-related quality of life (HRQoL) compared to transfemoral access (TFA) when vascular closure devices were not used. • Procedural variables (contrast agent dose, fluoroscopy time, procedure time, air kerma, dose-area product, length of hospital stay, and total cost) were not significantly different between patients who received TRA-TACE and TFA-TACE. • The incidence and severity of adverse events were similar between patients who received TRA-TACE and TFA-TACE.

Abstract
BACKGROUND The radial approach has been gaining more widespread use by neurointerventionalists fueled by data from the cardiology literature showing better safety and overall reduced morbidity. OBJECTIVE To present our institution's experience with the radial approach for neuroendovascular interventions in 614 consecutive patients who underwent a cumulative of 760 procedures. METHODS A retrospective analysis was performed and identified neuroendovascular procedures performed via the upper extremity vasculature access site. RESULTS Amongst 760 procedures, 34.2% (260) were therapeutic, and 65.7% (500) were nontherapeutic angiograms. Access sites were 71.5% (544) via a conventional radial artery, 27.8% (211) via a distal radial artery, 0.5% (4) via an ulnar artery, and 0.1% (1) via the brachial artery. Most of the procedures (96.9%) were performed via the right-sided (737), 2.9% (22) via the left-sided, and 0.1% (1) via a bilateral approach. Major access site complications occurred at a rate of 0.9% (7). The rate of transfemoral conversion was 4.7% (36). There was a statistically higher incidence of transfemoral conversion when repeat procedures were performed using the same access site. Also, there was no significant difference between nontherapeutic procedures performed using the right and left radial access, and conventional versus distal radial access. Procedural metrics improved after completion of 14 procedures, indicating a learning curve that should be surpassed by operators to reach optimal outcomes. CONCLUSION Radial artery catheterization is a safe and effective means of carrying out a wide range of neuroendovascular procedures associated with excellent clinical outcomes and an overall low rate of periprocedural complications.

Abstract
Among patients undergoing percutaneous coronary procedures, transradial access, compared with transfemoral access, is associated with a reduced risk for complications including mortality, especially in higher risk patients. However, transradial access is limited by radial artery occlusion (RAO) that despite being mostly asymptomatic because of the extensive anastomoses between the forearm arteries restricts future use of the same radial artery. Distal radial access (DRA) in the anatomic snuffbox or on the dorsum of the hand has recently gained global popularity as an alternative access route for vascular procedures. A strong anatomic and physiological rationale yields potential for significantly reduced risk for RAO and positive impact on procedural outcome for better patient care. Indeed, currently published studies buttress very low rates of RAO after DRA, hence supporting its development. The authors provide an analysis of the foundation of DRA, provide historical background, and offer a critical review of its current status and future directions. Also, given the limited evidence currently available to properly perform DRA in the real world, consensus opinion on what is considered optimal practice is also presented to supplement this document and enhance the implementation of DRA while minimizing its complications.

Abstract
BACKGROUND The transradial approach (TRA) for catheter interventions decreases vascular complications and bleeding versus transfemoral approach. Reducing time to hemostasis and preventing radial artery occlusion (RAO) following TRA are important and incompletely realized aspirations. OBJECTIVES This first-in-human study sought to evaluate the efficacy of a novel, topically applied compound (hydrophobically modified polysaccharide-chitosan, hm-P) plus minimal required pneumatic compression, to achieve rapid radial arterial hemostasis in post-TRA procedures compared with de facto standards. MATERIALS AND METHODS About 50 adult patients undergoing 6 French diagnostic TRA procedures were prospectively enrolled. At procedure completion, a topical hm-P impregnated patch was placed over the dermotomy and TR Band (TRB) compression was applied to the access site. This patch was used as part of a novel rapid deflation protocol with a primary outcome of time to hemostasis. Photographic and vascular ultrasound evaluation of the radial artery was performed to evaluate the procedural site. RESULTS Time to hemostasis was 40.5 min (IQR: 38-50 min) with the majority of patients (n = 39, 78%) not requiring reinflation. Patients with bleeding requiring TRB reinflation were more likely to have low body weight and liver dysfunction, with absence of hypertension and LV dysfunction. The rate of RAO was 0% with predischarge radial artery patency documented in all patients using vascular ultrasound. One superficial hematoma was noted. No late bleeding events or cutaneous reactions were reported in the study follow-up. CONCLUSIONS Topical application of hm-P in conjunction with pneumatic compression was safe and resulted in rapid and predictable hemostasis at the arterial puncture site.

Abstract
Sheathless guiding catheters are a valuable tool in the catheterization labor and may assist the operator when dealing with heavily calcified and tortuous vessels. Nevertheless, when hostile anatomy prevents successful percutaneous coronary interventions (PCI) from the radial access, transfemoral use of sheathless guide can assist in overcoming these challenges in a safe manner.

Abstract
IntroductionTransradial artery access (TRA) for cerebrovascular angiography is increasing due to decreased access site complications and overwhelming patient preference. While interventional cardiologists have reported up to 10 successive TRA procedures via the same radial access site, this is the first study examining successive use of the same artery for repeat procedures in neurointerventional procedures.1
MethodsWe reviewed our prospective institutional database for all patients who underwent a transradial neurointerventional procedure between 2015 and 2019. Index procedures were defined as procedures performed via TRA after which there was a second TRA procedure attempted. Reasons for conversion to a transfemoral approach (TFA) for subsequent procedures were identified.Results104 patients underwent 237 procedures (230 TRA, 7 TFA). 97 patients underwent ≥2 TRA procedures, 20 patients >3, four patients >4, three patients >5, and two patients >6 TRA procedures. The success rate was 94.7% (126/133) with 52% (66/126) of successive procedures performed via the same radial access site (snuffbox vs antebrachial) while the alternate radial artery segment was used for access in 48% (60/126) of subsequent procedures. There were seven (5.3%) cases requiring crossover to TFA, six cases for radial artery occlusion (RAO) and one for radial artery narrowing.ConclusionSuccessive TRA is both technically feasible and safe for neuroendovascular procedures in up to six procedures. The low failure rate (5.3%) was primarily due to RAO. Thus, even without clinical consequences, strategies to minimize RAO should be optimized for patients to continue to benefit from TRA in future procedures.

Abstract
BACKGROUND/PURPOSE Bariatric embolization of the left gastric artery (LGA) is being investigated as a technique to induce substantial weight loss in obese patients. Radial access is associated with less vascular complications than femoral access, especially in patients with severe obesity. We sought to assess the feasibility, safety and technical challenges of LGA angiography through radial access. METHODS/MATERIALS Patients with suspected coronary artery disease (CAD) and obesity (BMI > 30 kg/m2) referred for diagnostic catheterization and/or percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) were eligible. After completion of diagnostic and/or PCI, selective cannulation of celiac artery was performed and images of the LGA were taken from multiple views. Detailed procedural parameters such as procedure time, contrast volume and radiation data as well as anatomical variations were assessed. RESULTS Between February and December 2018, we successfully achieved 50 selective angiographies of celiac artery from 54 enrolled patients (92.6%) and LGA was optimally visualized in 47/50 (97%) of cases. Right radial access was used in 50 cases. Mean age was 63.9 ± 8.0 years and 74% were men. Median BMI was 34.4 kg/m2 [32.2-39.4]. The median procedural time was 7 [5-10] minutes, contrast volume was 41 ml [33-63], fluoroscopy time was 160 [103-248] seconds and radiation exposure was 3125 [1906-4735] Gy.cm2. No complications were noted. The mean difficulty of the procedure on a visual analogue scale was 4/10. CONCLUSIONS LGA angiography via transradial approach was feasible in the large majority of CAD patients with obesity. No safety issues were encountered.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES Using the British Cardiovascular Intervention Society percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) database, access site choice and outcomes of patients undergoing PCI with previous coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) were studied. BACKGROUND Given the influence of access site on outcomes, use of radial access in PCI-CABG warrants further investigation. METHODS Data were analyzed from 58,870 PCI-CABG procedures performed between 2005 and 2014. Multivariate logistic regression was used to identify predictors of access site choice and its association with outcomes. RESULTS The number of PCI-CABG cases and the percentage of total PCI increased significantly during the study period. Femoral artery (FA) utilization fell from 90.8% in 2005 to 57.6% in 2014 (p < 0.001), with no differences in the rate of change of left versus right radial use. In contemporary study years (2012 to 2014), female sex, acute coronary syndrome presentation, chronic total occlusion intervention, and lower operator volume were independently associated with FA access. Length of stay was shortened in the radial cohort. Unadjusted outcomes including an access site complication (1.10% vs. 0.30%; p < 0.001), blood transfusion (0.20% vs. 0.04%; p < 0.001), major bleeding (1.30% vs. 0.40%; p < 0.001), and in-hospital death (1.10% vs. 0.60%; p = 0.001) were more likely to occur with FA access compared with radial access. After adjustment, although arterial complications, transfusion, and major bleeding remained more common with FA use, short- and longer-term mortality and major adverse cardiac event rates were similar. CONCLUSIONS In contemporary practice, FA access remains predominant during PCI-CABG with case complexity associated with it use. FA use was associated with longer length of stay, and higher rates of vascular complications, major bleeding, and transfusion.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES The authors sought to determine the relationships between left radial access (LRA) or right radial access (RRA) and clinical outcomes using the British Cardiovascular Intervention Society (BCIS) database. BACKGROUND LRA has been shown to offer procedural advantages over RRA in percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) although few data exist from a national perspective around its use and association with clinical outcomes. METHODS The authors investigated the relationship between use of LRA or RRA and clinical outcomes of in-hospital or 30-day mortality, major adverse cardiovascular events (MACE), in-hospital stroke, and major bleeding complications in patients undergoing PCI between 2007 and 2014. RESULTS Of 342,806 cases identified, 328,495 (96%) were RRA and 14,311 (4%) were LRA. Use of LRA increased from 3.2% to 4.6% from 2007 to 2014. In patients undergoing a repeat PCI procedure, the use of RRA dropped to 72% at the second procedure and was even lower in females (65%) and patients >75 years of age (70%). Use of LRA (compared with RRA) was not associated with significant differences in in-hospital mortality (odds ratio [OR]: 1.19, 95% confidence interval [CI]: 0.90 to 1.57; p = 0.20), 30-day mortality (OR: 1.17, 95% CI: 0.93 to 1.74; p = 0.16), MACE (OR: 1.06, 95% CI: 0.86 to 1.32; p = 0.56), or major bleeding (OR: 1.22, 95% CI: 0.87 to 1.77; p = 0.24). In propensity match analysis, LRA was associated with a significant decrease in in-hospital stroke (OR: 0.52, 95% CI: 0.37 to 0.82; p = 0.005). CONCLUSIONS In this large PCI database, use of LRA is limited compared with RRA but conveys no increased risk of adverse outcomes, but may be associated with a reduction in PCI-related stroke complications.

Abstract
AIMS Access site choice for cases requiring rotational atherectomy (PCI-ROTA) is poorly defined. Using the British Cardiovascular Intervention Society PCI database, temporal changes and contemporary associates/outcomes of access site choice for PCI-ROTA were studied. METHODS AND RESULTS Data were analysed from 11,444 PCI-ROTA procedures performed in England and Wales between 2007 and 2014. Multivariate logistic regression was used to identify predictors of access site choice and its association with outcomes. RESULTS For PCI-ROTA, radial access increased from 19.6% in 2007 to 58.6% in 2014. Adoption of radial access was slower in females, those with prior CABG, and in patients with chronic occlusive (CTO) or left main disease. In 2013/14, the strongest predictors of femoral artery use were age (OR 1.02, [1.005-1.036], P = .008), CTO intervention (OR 1.95, [1.209-3.314], P = .006), and history of previous CABG (OR 1.68, [1.124-2.515], P = .010). Radial access was associated with reductions in overall length of stay, and increased rates of same-day discharge. Procedural success rates were similar although femoral access use was associated with increased access site complications (2.4 vs. 0.1%, P < .001). After adjustment for baseline differences, arterial complications (OR 15.6, P < .001), transfusion (OR 12.5, P = .023) and major bleeding OR 6.0, P < .001) remained more common with FA use. Adjusted mortality and MACE rates were similar in both groups. CONCLUSIONS In contemporary practice, radial access for PCI-ROTA results in similar procedural success when compared to femoral access but is associated with shorter length of stay, and lower rates of vascular complication, major bleeding and transfusion.

Abstract
Background During transradial (TR) access, it remains unclear whether differences in baseline patients characteristics and hemostasis care impact the rate of radial artery occlusion (RAO). We sought to compare the rate of RAO after TR access with the 6 French(Fr) Glidesheath Slender (GSS6Fr, Terumo, Japan) or a standard 5 Fr sheath in Japanese and non‐Japanese patients. Methods and Results The Radial Artery Patency and Bleeding, Efficacy, Adverse evenT (RAP and BEAT) trial randomized 1,836 patients undergoing TR coronary angiography and/or interventions to receive the GSS6Fr or the standard 5 Fr Glidesheath (GS5Fr, Terumo, Japan). Out of this study population, 1,087 were Japanese patients and 751 non‐Japanese patients. The overall incidence of RAO was significantly higher in Japanese patients (3.6% vs. 1.2%, P = 0.002). Use of GSS6Fr was associated with higher rates of RAO than GS5Fr in Japanese patients (5% vs. 2.2%, P = 0.02) and with similar RAO rates in non‐Japanese patients (1.3 vs. 1.1%, P = 1). The mean hemostasis time was significantly longer in Japanese patients (378 ± 253 vs. 159 ± 136 min, P < 0.001) and more Japanese patients had a hemostasis time of more than 6 hr (16.2% vs. 4.9%, P < 0.0001). Longer hemostasis time was an independent predictor of RAO (OR per additional hour 1.070, 95% CI 1.008–1.136, P = 0.03). Conclusions Use of GSS6Fr was associated with a higher rate of RAO than a standard 5 Fr sheath in Japanese patients but not in non‐Japanese patients. Whether improvement in post‐procedural care and reduced hemostasis time could impact the incidence of RAO in Japanese patients should be further assessed.

Abstract
Transradial approach (TRA) is the default access site for diagnostic angiography and intervention in many centers. Repeat ipsilateral radial artery access late after index procedure has been associated with failures. It is unknown whether early (≤30 days) and very early (<24 hours) repeat radial access is technically feasible and safe. Study population consisted of consecutive patients undergoing repeat (≥2) procedures within 30 days in a high-volume TRA center. Transradial access failure and resulting femoral approach was categorized as primary (no repeat attempt) or secondary (crossover). Timing of repeat access and reasons for failure were recorded. From November 2012 to December 2014, repeat catheterization by TRA was performed twice in 573 of 626 patients (92%) (median delay 4 [2 to 9] days), 3 times in 29 of 38 (76%) patients (median delay 15 [5 to 26] days), and 4 times in 1 patient within 21 days. When repeat catheterization occurred during the first 24 hours following the index procedure, 53% and 75% of patients had second and third procedures using the same ipsilateral radial artery, respectively. Primary radial failure occurred in 5.8% for second attempt and 13% for a third attempt, whereas crossovers were noted in 2.7% and 2.6%, respectively. Main reasons for failed re-access of ipsilateral radial artery were related either to operator's reluctance to repeat attempt (primary failure) or to issues with puncture site (crossover). In a high-volume TRA center, patients who required repeat catheterization within 24 hours and within the first 30 days had the same radial artery re-accessed in the majority of cases.

Abstract
AIMS The 6 Fr Glidesheath Slender (GSS6Fr) is a recently developed thin-walled radial sheath with an outer diameter (OD) that is smaller than the OD of standard 6 Fr sheaths. The purpose of this trial was to clarify whether the use of this new slender sheath would result in similar rates of RAO to a standard 5 Fr sheath in unselected patients undergoing transradial (TR) coronary angiography and/or intervention, and to assess the relative importance of sheath size and haemostasis protocol on the rate of RAO. METHODS AND RESULTS We conducted a randomised, multicentre, non-inferiority trial comparing the GSS6Fr against the standard GS5Fr in patients undergoing TR coronary angiography and/or intervention. Patients in each group were subsequently randomised to undergo patent haemostasis or the institutional haemostasis protocol. The primary endpoint was the occurrence of RAO at discharge. A total of 1,926 patients were randomised in 12 centres. The incidence of RAO was 3.47% with GSS6Fr compared with 1.74% with GS5Fr (risk difference 1.73%, 95% CI: 0.51-2.95%; pnon-inferiority=0.150). Patients randomised to patent haemostasis had a similar rate of RAO compared with institutional haemostasis (2.61% vs. 2.61%, p=1). There was no difference with regard to all secondary endpoints, including vascular access-site complications, local bleeding and spasm. CONCLUSIONS In this large multicentre randomised trial, the GSS6Fr was associated with a low event rate for the primary endpoint (RAO), although non-inferiority to the GS5Fr was not met, due to a lower than expected rate of RAO in the GS5Fr group. As compared to institutional haemostasis, the use of patent haemostasis was not associated with a reduced rate of RAO.

Abstract
Percutaneous treatment of subclavian artery stenosis or occlusion has become more popular compared with surgical correction. We compared the early and late results of subclavian artery stenting with bilateral or single transradial access. From 2010 to 2015, we recruited 54 consecutive patients. In 35 cases, we used bilateral access, and in 19 cases, ipsilateral single access was used. Left subclavian artery was the culprit vessel in 72% of cases. There were more chronic total occlusions in the bilateral group (77% vs 21%, p = 0.0001). Transradial-only approach was used in all cases, except in 2 cases in the bilateral group where crossover to femoral access was required. Stents were implanted in 94% in bilateral group and 84% in single group (p = 0.47). Procedure duration (40 [35 to 60] vs 20 [15 to 30] minutes), contrast volume (200 [200 to 350] vs 150 [100 to 200] ml and fluoroscopy time (20 [12 to 30] vs 8 [4 to 11] minutes) were higher in bilateral group (all p values <0.0001). Procedural success was 96%. Overall, we observed three <5-cm hematomas and 3 asymptomatic radial artery occlusions at hospital discharge. After successful procedure, blood pressure equalized in 94% in bilateral group and 100% in single group (p = 0.54). Major cardiovascular and cerebrovascular event-free survival up to 5 years was 97% in bilateral group compared with 84% in single group (p = 0.12). Subclavian artery patency at late follow-up was 91% in bilateral group and 95% in single group (p = 1.00). Using single or bilateral transradial approach, subclavian artery lesions or occlusions can be effectively and safely treated without the risks of femoral or brachial access.

Abstract
This article reviews antithrombotic strategies for percutaneous coronary interventions according to the access site and the current evidence with the aim of limiting ischemic complications and preventing radial artery occlusion (RAO). Prevention of RAO should be part of the quality control of any radial program. The incidence of RAO postcatheterization and interventions should be determined initially using the echo-duplex and then frequently assessed using the more cost-effective pulse oximetry technique. Any evidence of higher risk of RAO should prompt internal analysis and multidisciplinary mechanisms to be put in place.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES This study sought to determine the efficacy of low rate fluoroscopy at 7.5 frames/s (FPS) versus conventional 15 FPS for reduction of operator and patient radiation dose during diagnostic coronary angiography (DCA) and percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) via the transradial approach (TRA). BACKGROUND TRA for cardiac catheterization is potentially associated with increased radiation exposure. Low rate fluoroscopy has the potential to reduce radiation exposure. METHODS Patients undergoing TRA diagnostic angiography ± ad-hoc PCI were randomized to fluoroscopy at 7.5 FPS versus 15 FPS prior to the procedure. Both 7.5 and 15 FPS fluoroscopy protocols were configured with a fixed dose per pulse of 40 nGy. Primary endpoints were operator radiation dose (measured with dosimeter attached to the left side of the thyroid shield in μSievert [μSv]), patient radiation dose (expressed as dose-area product in Gy·cm(2)), and fluoroscopy time. RESULTS From October 1, 2012 to August 30, 2013, from a total of 363 patients, 184 underwent DCA and 179 underwent PCI. Overall, fluoroscopy at 7.5 FPS compared with 15 FPS was associated with a significant reduction in operator dose (30% relative reduction [RR], p < 0.0001); and in patient's dose-area product (19% RR; p = 0.022). When stratified by procedure type, 7.5 FPS compared with 15 FPS was associated with significant reduction in operator dose during both DCA (40% RR; p < 0.0001) and PCI (28% RR; p = 0.0011). Fluoroscopy at 7.5 FPS, compared with 15 FPS, was also associated with substantial reduction in patients' dose-area product during DCA (26% RR; p = 0.0018) and during PCI (19% RR; p = 0.13). Fluoroscopy time was similar in 7.5 FPS and 15 FPS groups for DCA (3.4 ± 2.0 min vs. 4.0 ± 4.7 min; p = 0.42) and PCI (11.9 ± 8.4 min vs. 13.3 ± 9.7 min; p = 0.57), respectively. CONCLUSIONS Fluoroscopy at 7.5 FPS, compared with 15 FPS, is a simple and effective method in reducing operator and patient radiation dose during TRA DCA and PCI.
