Abstract
BACKGROUND Artificial intelligence chatbots have the potential to inform and guide patients by providing human-like responses to questions about dental and maxillofacial prostheses. Information regarding the accuracy and qualifications of these responses is limited. This in-silico study aimed to evaluate the accuracy, quality, readability, understandability, and actionability of the responses from DeepSeek-R1, ChatGPT-o1, ChatGPT-4, and Dental GPT chatbots. METHODS Four chatbots were queried about 35 of the most frequently asked patient questions about their prostheses. The accuracy, quality, understandability, and actionability of the responses were assessed by two prosthodontists using five-point Likert scale, Global Quality Score, and Patient Education Materials Assessment Tool for Printed Materials scales, respectively. Readability was scored using the Flesch-Kincaid Grade Level and Flesch Reading Ease. The agreement was assessed using the Cohen Kappa test. Differences between chatbots were analyzed using the Kruskal-Wallis test, one-way ANOVA, and post-hoc tests. RESULTS Chatbots showed a significant difference in accuracy and readability (p <.05). Dental GPT recorded the highest accuracy score, whereas ChatGPT-4 had the lowest. DeepSeek-R1 performed best, while Dental GPT had the lowest performance in readability. Quality, understandability, actionability, and reader education scores did not show significant differences. CONCLUSIONS While accuracy may vary among chatbots, the domain-specific trained AI tool and ChatGPT-o1 demonstrated superior accuracy. Even if accuracy is high, misinformation in health care can have significant consequences. Enhancing the readability of the responses is essential, and chatbots should be chosen accordingly. The accuracy and readability of information from chatbots should be monitored for public health.

Abstract
BACKGROUND/OBJECTIVES The population of Japan has a high life expectancy, but there is room for improvement in terms of the country's healthy life expectancy. The long period of care dependency among Japan's elderly is also a major economic health challenge. Dementia is a major factor in the need for care, and its prevention is a crucial and urgent challenge. There are recent reports of a possible association between changes in oral function and cognitive impairment, but the details of this association remain unclear. To clarify the relationship between poor oral function and cognitive impairment, we conducted an exploratory investigation using a cognitive function assessment (Mini-Cog) administered in a large-scale study and its relevance to oral function. METHODS The study population was 678 community-dwelling individuals aged ≥65 years living in Tarumizu city, Japan, in 2019. Cognitive function was assessed using the Mini-Cog test, and the oral survey was a modification of the content of the Oral Hypofunction Examination as defined by the Japanese Society of Gerodontology. RESULTS The participants' median age was 73 years. The oral function results revealed median scores below the oral hypofunction criterion for occlusal force, tongue pressure, oral diadochokinesis, and swallowing function. The results of a binomial logistic regression analysis indicated that tongue-lip motor function was independently associated with oral function in relation to cognitive impairment. CONCLUSIONS The oral function associated with cognitive impairment in this study was tongue-lip motor function. Aiming to improve this function may prevent the exacerbation of cognitive impairment.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Chlorhexidine mouthwash is a common oral hygiene product used in intensive care units, but it may have some adverse effects. Licorice, a natural herb, could be a potential alternative to chlorhexidine. However, the effect of licorice mouthwash on the oral health of intubated patients has not been studied yet. Therefore, this study aimed to compare the effects of licorice and chlorhexidine mouthwash on the oral health of intubated patients. METHODS This was a triple-blind clinical trial. The sample included 130 intubated patients admitted to an intensive care unit in Iran. The samples were selected by convenience sampling and randomly assigned to two groups: A and B. In group A, the main researcher applied 15 ml of 0.2% chlorhexidine mouthwash after each brushing (twice a day for 5.5 days) and suctioned it after 30 s. In group B, 20% licorice mouthwash was used instead of chlorhexidine. The demographic information questionnaire and the Beck Oral Assessment Scale (BOAS) were completed by one of the nurses before and on the sixth day of the study. RESULTS Finally, 60 patients in each group completed the study. There was no significant difference between the groups in terms of demographic variables or oral health before the intervention (P > 0.05). The oral health of patients in both the chlorhexidine and liquorice mouthwash groups improved significantly after the intervention (P < 0.05). However, there was no significant difference in oral health between the two groups at postintervention (P = 0.06). CONCLUSION The results demonstrated that both mouthwashes exerted a comparable effect on dental and oral health. However, the chlorhexidine mouthwash showed a greater impact on the reduction of dental plaque and the thinning of saliva compared to licorice mouthwash. In essential cases, licorice mouthwash can be employed as an alternative to chlorhexidine.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Implementing the Age-Friendly Health System (AFHS) framework into dental care provides a significant opportunity to link oral health to healthy aging. This project aimed to implement the AFHS 4Ms (what matters, medications, mentation, and mobility) in the provision of oral health care. This article describes the planning, integration, training development, and outcome measurements supporting a 4Ms approach at an academic dental clinic. METHODS The Eastman Institute for Oral Health (EIOH) implemented screening instruments based on the 4Ms framework recommended for ambulatory care clinics by the Institute for Health Care Improvement (IHI). These ambulatory instruments were integrated into the workflows of a Specialty Care Clinic through the development of a plan-do-study-act cycle, utilization of available clinic resources, and creation of interdisciplinary collaborations. RESULTS This project demonstrated the feasibility of implementing an AFHS checklist and tracking forms in dental practice by integrating available resources and prioritizing the 4Ms elements. This effort necessitated interdisciplinary collaborations between dental, medical, and social service professionals. It also created a new age-friendly focused education and training curriculum for dental residents and faculty. CONCLUSIONS This pilot project is the first to establish dental standards for AFHS implementation, adapting the 4Ms assessment and metrics to oral health. This AFHS underscores key oral health processes, including assessment, planning, and personalized oral health care, adapted to the unique needs of the older adult population, especially those with cognitive impairment.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES There is a lack of data regarding the hygiene practices and sources of care among individuals in Yemen who wear removable complete and partial dentures. The purpose of this study was to explore the behaviors, hygiene habits, and sources of care information among patients who utilize complete and partial dentures in Yemen. MATERIALS AND METHODS A descriptive cross-sectional research design was utilized, and a sample of 217 consecutive participants who wore removable complete and/or partial dentures were enlisted. A questionnaire was employed to collect data on demographic information, educational attainment, denture habits, denture cleaning practices, and encountered difficulties. Statistical analysis was conducted using SPSS software, and significance was determined using chi-square tests, with a significance level of .05. RESULTS The data analysis revealed that a majority of the participants were male (72.4%) and had an average age of 65.14 years. Fifty-three percent of the participants wore partial dentures, while 34.6% wore complete dentures. Only 6.5% of the participants wore both complete and partial dentures, and 6% wore overdentures. The majority of participants (88.47%) had dentures made of acrylic material. Additionally, 43% of participants wore dentures while sleeping, and 61.3% stored their dentures in dry places without a water-filled container when not in use. The most commonly reported cleaning methods were water only (24.4%), followed by water and soap (19.4%). Furthermore, a large portion of the participants (59.4%) received denture care information from dentists. However, the majority (59%) did not visit a dentist for regular denture maintenance or any denture-related issues. The data analysis did not reveal any significant association between age or education level and denture cleaning methods. CONCLUSION This cross-sectional survey provides insight into the hygiene knowledge and practices of removable denture wearers in Yemen. The findings underscore the necessity for enhanced oral hygiene education and awareness within this population. The study offers valuable insights for oral health professionals to design targeted interventions and educational initiatives aimed at promoting proper denture care and maintenance. These efforts have the potential to enhance the oral health and overall well-being of removable denture wearers.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION The aim of this study was to understand the global incidence and disability-adjusted life years (DALY) of oral disorders by age, gender, region, and Sociodemographic Index (SDI) from 1990 to 2019. MATERIAL AND METHODS The estimated annual percentage change (EAPC) and 95% confidence intervals (CIs) were used to assess the trends in age-standardized incidence and DALY rates from 1990 to 2019. RESULTS The global age-standardized incidence rate (EAPC = 0.01) of oral disorders increased slightly from 1990 to 2019. From 1990 to 2019, the age-standardized DALY rate decreased in high-SDI (EAPC = -0.43) and high-middle-SDI (EAPC = -0.14) regions, but it showed increasing trends in low-SDI (EAPC = 0.22), low-middle-SDI (EAPC = 0.36), and middle-SDI (EAPC = 0.17) regions. The EAPC in the age-standardized DALY rate was negatively correlated with the regional SDI value (ρ = -0.402, p = 0.001). From 1990 to 2019, the region with the largest increase in age-standardized DALY rate was South Asia (EAPC = 0.67), while the country with the greatest increase in age-standardized DALY rate was India (EAPC = 0.82). CONCLUSIONS From 1990 to 2019, the global age-standardized incidence rate of oral disorders showed a slight increasing trend. It is necessary to control the increase in DALY and the disease burden associated with oral disorders in low-, low-middle-, and middle-SDI regions, such as South Asia, particularly in India.
