Abstract
BACKGROUND Dietary fat and fatty acid intakes impact the occurrence and development of several cancers. However, the evidence regarding fat and fatty acid intake and ovarian cancer (OC) survival is limited. METHODS The Ovarian Cancer Follow-Up Study (OOPS), a prospective cohort study, analyzed data collected from 703 OC patients. Deaths were ascertained via medical records and active follow-up. Dietary intake was derived from a validated food frequency questionnaire. Cox proportional hazard models were used to calculate hazard ratio (HR) and 95% confidence interval (CI) for association evaluation. Furthermore, several subgroup and sensitivity analyses were also performed. RESULTS A total of 130 patients died during a median follow-up of 37.17 (interquartile: 24.73-50.17) months. Relative to the lowest tertile of intake, patients with the highest tertile of total fat (HR = 1.87, 95% CI = 1.01-3.49), total fatty acid (HR = 2.20, 95% CI = 1.27-3.80), total saturated fatty acid (SFA) (HR = 2.02, 95% CI = 1.22-3.34), shorter-chain SFA (HR = 1.59, 95% CI = 1.03-2.47), long-chain SFA (HR = 1.69, 95% CI = 1.03-2.77), total monounsaturated fatty acid (MUFA) (HR = 1.77, 95% CI = 1.02-3.05), and animal-based MUFA (HR = 2.05, 95% CI = 1.17-3.58) intake had higher all-cause mortality risk. In contrast, individuals in the highest tertile of egg fat (HR = 0.57, 95% CI = 0.35-0.92) and fruit and vegetable fat (HR = 0.48, 95% CI = 0.31-0.75) intake exhibited a reduced risk of all-cause mortality. Additionally, significant positive associations with all-cause mortality were identified for the consumption of several common fatty acids, including capric acid (HR = 1.92, 95% CI = 1.23-3.00), myristic acid (HR = 1.86, 95% CI = 1.15-3.02), palmitic acid (HR = 1.72, 95% CI = 1.07-2.76), stearic acid (HR = 1.93, 95% CI = 1.12-3.31), and oleic acid (HR = 1.96, 95% CI = 1.13-3.40), when comparing the highest to the lowest tertile of intake. CONCLUSIONS We identified a linkage of higher intake of total fats, total fatty acids, SFAs, shorter-chain SFAs, long-chain SFAs, total MUFAs, and animal-based MUFAs with increased all-cause mortality of OC patients. Conversely, consumption of egg fats and fruit and vegetable fats demonstrated inverse associations with all-cause mortality.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Prognosis after a diagnosis of invasive epithelial ovarian cancer is poor. Some studies have suggested modifiable behaviors, like diet, are associated with survival but the evidence is inconsistent. OBJECTIVES This study aims to pool data from studies conducted around the world to evaluate the relationships among dietary indices, foods, and nutrients from food sources and survival after a diagnosis of ovarian cancer. METHODS This analysis from the Multidisciplinary Ovarian Cancer Outcomes Group within the Ovarian Cancer Association Consortium included 13 studies with 7700 individuals with ovarian cancer, who completed food-frequency questionnaires regarding their prediagnosis diet. Adjusted hazard ratios (aHRs) and 95% confidence intervals (CI) for associations with overall survival were estimated using Cox proportional hazards models. RESULTS Overall, there was no association between any of the 7 dietary indices (representing prediagnosis diet) evaluated and survival; however, associations differed by tumor stage. Although there were no consistent associations among those with advanced disease, among those with earlier stage (local/regional) disease, higher scores on the alternate Healthy Eating Index (aHR quartile 4 compared with 1 = 0.66, 95% CI: 0.50, 0.87), Healthy Eating Index-2015 (aHR: 0.75; 95% CI: 0.59, 0.97), and alternate Mediterranean diet (aHR: 0.76; 95% CI: 0.60, 0.98) were associated with better survival. Better survival was also observed for individuals with early-stage disease who reported higher intakes of dietary components that contribute to the healthy diet indices (aHR for Q4 compared with Q1: vegetables 0.71; 95% CI: 0.56, 0.91), tomatoes (aHR: 0.72; 95% CI: 0.57, 0.91) and nuts and seeds (aHR 0.71; 95% CI: 0.55, 0.92). In contrast, there were suggestions of worse survival with higher scores on 2 of the 3 inflammatory indices and higher intake of trans-fatty acids. CONCLUSIONS Adherence to a more healthy, less-inflammatory diet may confer a survival benefit for individuals with early-stage ovarian cancer.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Previous studies have examined the associations between individual foods or nutrients, but few studies have considered dietary patterns associated with ovarian cancer (OC) survival. METHODS In a prospective cohort study, we examined the association between pre-diagnosis and post-diagnosis overall diet, including changes from pre-diagnosis to post-diagnosis, and overall survival (OS) in 560 patients with OC. Dietary intake was collected using a valid 111-item food frequency questionnaire. Principal component analysis was performed to determine the dietary patterns. Cox proportional hazard regression models were used to assess the hazard ratio (HRs) and 95% confidence interval (CIs). RESULTS Two dietary patterns were identified: Balanced and nutritious pattern and Energy-dense pattern. The highest tertile of the post-diagnosis Balanced and nutritious pattern scores was related to better OS compared with the lowest tertile (HR = 0.40, 95% CI = 0.17-0.95, Ptrend < 0.05). However, no significant association between pre-diagnosis and post-diagnosis Energy-dense pattern scores and OS was observed. Compared to those who had persistently high Balanced and nutritious pattern scores, patients who changed from a high score of pre-diagnosis Balanced and nutritious pattern to low post-diagnosis, as well as those who shifted from a low to a high score, both had a decreased OS (HRhigh-low vs. high-high = 1.91, 95% CI = 1.18-3.08; HRlow-high vs. high-high = 2.19, 95% CI = 1.24-3.86). Additionally, patients who changed from a high pre-diagnosis score to a low post-diagnosis score had a decreased OS compared to those with consistently low Energy-dense pattern scores (HRhigh-low vs. low-low = 1.74, 95% CI = 1.06-2.84). CONCLUSIONS Greater adherence to the Balanced and nutritious pattern as well as less adherence to the Energy-dense pattern from pre-diagnosis to post-diagnosis were associated with better OC survival.

Abstract
BACKGROUND The evidence on the relationship of dietary antioxidant nutrients with the survival of ovarian cancer (OC) remains scarce. OBJECTIVE This study aimed to investigate these associations in a prospective cohort of Chinese patients with OC. METHODS In this prospective cohort study, patients with epithelial OC completed a food frequency questionnaire at diagnosis and 12 months post-diagnosis, and were followed from 2015 to 2023. Dietary total antioxidant capacity (TAC) and composite dietary antioxidant index (CDAI) were calculated based on specific antioxidant nutrients. We examined the associations of pre-diagnosis, post-diagnosis, and changes from pre-diagnosis to post-diagnosis in TAC, CDAI, and representative antioxidant nutrients with overall survival (OS) among patients with OC. Multivariable Cox proportional-hazards models were applied to calculate the hazard ratios (HR) and 95% confidence intervals (CI). Dose-response relationships were evaluated by restricted cubic splines. RESULTS Among the total 560 patients with OC, there were 211 (37.68%) deaths during a median follow-up of 44.40 (interquartile range: 26.97-61.37) months. High pre-diagnosis TAC (HR = 0.58; 95% CI 0.38-0.8) and vitamin C intake (HRT3 vs. T1 = 0.36; 95% CI 0.21-0.61), and post-diagnosis TAC (HR = 0.57; 95% CI 0.37-0.8), CDAI (HR = 0.57; 95% CI 0.33-0.9), and β-carotene intake (HRT3 vs. T1 = 0.55; 95% CI 0.32-0.97) were significantly associated with improved OS. Compared to patients with constantly low pre- and post-diagnosis TAC and CDAI, those with consistently higher TAC (HRMedium-Medium vs. Low-Low = 0.53; 95% CI 0.29-0.97; HRHigh-High vs. Low-Low = 0.40; 95% CI 0.16-0.94) and CDAI (HRHigh-High vs. Low-Low = 0.33; 95% CI 0.12-0.88) experienced better OS. CONCLUSION High pre- and post-diagnosis TAC, and post-diagnosis CDAI were associated with improved OC survival, suggesting that consistent high-intake of antioxidant-rich food may be beneficial for the prognosis of OC.

Abstract
PURPOSE Although (poly)phenols have shown potential in anti-cancer activities, their impact on improving ovarian cancer (OC) survival remains unknown. Therefore, we aim to first investigate the association between dietary polyphenol intake and OC survival, providing valuable insights into potential interventions. METHODS The prospective cohort recruited 560 patients with OC to assess the associations of polyphenol intake, not only pre- and post-diagnosis but also the change from pre- to post-diagnosis with OC survival. Dietary intakes of total (poly)phenols and their five classes (flavonoids, phenolic acids, lignans, stilbenes, and other polyphenols) were assessed using a validated 111-item food frequency questionnaire. Overall survival (OS) was tracked through active follow-up and medical records until February 16th, 2023. Cox proportional hazard regression models were applied to calculate the hazard ratios (HR) and 95% confidence intervals (CI). RESULTS During a median follow-up of 44.4 months, 211 all-cause deaths were identified. We observed significant associations between higher polyphenol intake with lower risk of mortality among patients with OC ((HR T3 vs. T1 = 0.55, 95%CI = 0.35-0.87 for pre-diagnosis; and HR T3 vs. T1 = 0.59, 95%CI = 0.39-0.90 for post-diagnosis). Consistently, an evident linear trend was observed for polyphenol and flavonoid intake with OC survival. Of note, compared to the stable group (change within 10%), the decreased intake (change of more than 10%) of total (poly)phenols and five polyphenol classes was significantly associated with worse OS. CONCLUSION Dietary (poly)phenols, as well as its five classes, have an inverse association with OC survival.

Abstract
Importance Ovarian cancer survival among Black women is the lowest across all racial and ethnic groups. Poor dietary quality also disproportionately affects Black populations, but its association with ovarian cancer survival in this population remains largely unknown. Objective To examine associations between dietary patterns and survival among Black women diagnosed with epithelial ovarian cancer (EOC). Design, Setting, and Participants This prospective cohort study was conducted among self-identified Black women aged 20 to 79 years newly diagnosed with histologically confirmed EOC in the African American Cancer Epidemiology Study (AACES) between December 2010 and December 2015, with follow-up until October 2022. AACES is a population-based study of ovarian cancer risk and survival among Black women in 11 US regions. Data were analyzed from March 2023 to June 2024. Exposures Dietary patterns were assessed by the Healthy Eating Index-2020 (HEI-2020) and Alternative Healthy Eating Index-2010 (AHEI-2010), with scores calculated based on dietary intake in the year prior to diagnosis and collected via the validated Block 2005 Food Frequency Questionnaire. Higher scores indicate better dietary quality. Main outcomes and measures Hazard ratios (HRs) and 95% CIs were estimated from multivariable Cox models for the association between adherence to dietary recommendations and overall mortality among all participants and those with high-grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSOC). Results Among 483 Black women with EOC (mean [SD] age, 58.1 [10.5] years), 310 deaths were recorded during a median (IQR) follow-up of 4.3 (2.0-8.2) years. No association of dietary patterns with mortality was found among women with EOC overall. However, among 325 women with HGSOC, better adherence to HEI-2020 was associated with decreased mortality in later quartiles compared with the first quartile (HR, 0.63; 95% CI, 0.44-0.92 for quartile 2; HR, 0.67; 95% CI, 0.46-0.97 for quartile 3; HR, 0.63; 95% CI, 0.44-0.91 for quartile 4 ). Similar results were observed with AHEI-2010 among women with HGSOC for the second (HR, 0.62; 95% CI, 0.43-0.89) and fourth (HR, 0.67; 95% CI, 0.45-0.98) quartiles compared with quartile 1. Conclusions and relevance In this study, women with moderate and high prediagnosis dietary quality had significantly lower mortality rates from HGSOC compared with women with the lowest prediagnosis dietary quality. These findings suggest that even moderate adherence to dietary guidelines prior to diagnosis may be associated with improved survival among Black women with HGSOC, the most lethal form of ovarian cancer.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Ambient air pollution might serve as a prognostic factor for ovarian cancer (OC) survival, yet the relationships between plant-based diet indices (PDIs) and OC survival remain unclear. We aimed to investigate the associations of comprehensive air pollution and PDIs with OC survival and explored the effects of air pollution-diet interactions. METHODS The present study encompassed 658 patients diagnosed with OC. The overall plant-based diet index (PDI), the healthful PDI (hPDI), and the unhealthful PDI (uPDI) were evaluated by a self-reported validated food frequency questionnaire. In addition, an air pollution score (APS) was formulated by summing the concentrations of particulate matter with a diameter of 2.5 microns or less, ozone, and nitrogen dioxide. Cox proportional hazard models were applied to calculate hazard ratios (HRs) and 95 % confidence intervals (CIs). The potential interactions of APS with PDIs in relation to overall survival (OS) were assessed on both multiplicative and additive scales. RESULTS Throughout a median follow-up of 37.60 (interquartile: 24.77-50.70) months, 123 deaths were confirmed. Comparing to the lowest tertiles, highest uPDI was associated with lower OS of OC (HR = 2.06, 95 % CI = 1.30, 3.28; P-trend < 0.01), whereas no significant associations were found between either overall PDI or hPDI and OC survival. Higher APS (HR for per interquartile range = 1.27, 95 % CI = 1.01, 1.60) was significantly associated with worse OC survival, and the association was exacerbated by adherence to uPDI. Notably, an additive interaction was identified between combined air pollution and uPDI (P < 0.005 for high APS and high uPDI). We also found that adherence to overall PDI aggravated associations of air pollution with OC survival (P-interaction = 0.006). CONCLUSIONS Joint exposure to various ambient air pollutants was significantly associated with lower survival among patients with OC, particularly for those who predominantly consumed unhealthy plant-based foods.

This prospective cohort study first assessed the association of AMED, not only pre-diagnosis and post-diagnosis but also the change from pre-diagnosis to post-diagnosis with OC survival. METHODS A total of 560 OC patients were included in the study, and their dietary intake was assessed using a reliable 111-item food frequency questionnaire. The overall survival (OS) of the patients was monitored through active follow-up and review of medical records until February 16th, 2023. Cox proportional hazard regression models were utilized to compute the hazard ratios (HRs) and their corresponding 95% confidence intervals (CIs). RESULTS Out of the total 560 patients with OC, 211 (37.68%) succumbed during a median follow-up period of 44.40 months (interquartile range: 26.97-61.37). Comparative analysis indicated a significant association between the highest tertiles of pre-diagnosis (HR = 0.59; 95% CI 0.38-0.90; Ptrend < 0.05) and post-diagnosis (HR = 0.61; 95% CI 0.41-0.91; Ptrend < 0.05) AMED intake and improved OS as opposed to the lowest tertile. Additionally, a significant linear trend was observed for AMED and OC survival. Notably, decreased intake (more than 5% change) and significantly increased intake (more than 15% change) of AMED from pre-diagnosis to post-diagnosis were linked to worse and better OS, respectively, when compared to the stable intake group (change within 5%). Furthermore, patients displaying consistently higher AMED intake both before and after diagnosis experienced enhanced OS in comparison to those with consistently low AMED intake (HRHigh-High vs. Low-Low = 0.47; 95% CI 0.31-0.70). CONCLUSION High pre-diagnosis and post-diagnosis AMED was associated with an improved OS in patients with OC, suggesting that maintaining a consistently high intake of AMED could potentially benefit the prognosis of OC.

Abstract
Background: Previous studies on the association between diet quality and ovarian cancer (OC) survival are limited and inconsistent. We evaluated the relationship between pre- and post-diagnosis diet quality based on the Healthy Eating Index-2020 (HEI-2020), as well as their changes and OC survival. Methods: This prospective cohort study involved 1082 patients with OC aged 18-79 years, enrolled between 2015 and 2022. Detailed dietary intake before and after diagnosis was recorded using a validated food frequency questionnaire. Deaths were ascertained until February 16th, 2023 via medical records and active follow-up. Cox proportional hazards regression models were used to estimate hazard ratios (HRs) and 95% confidence intervals (CI). Results: We included 549 OC cases with a median follow-up of 44.9 months, representing 206 total deaths. Higher HEI scores were associated with better OS (pre-diagnosis: HRT3 vs. T1 0.66, 95%CI: 0.46-0.93, HR1-SD 0.84, 95%CI: 0.73-0.96; post-diagnosis: HRT3 vs. T1 0.68, 95%CI: 0.49-0.96, HR1-SD 0.80, 95%CI: 0.69-0.92). Compared to the stable group, the group with decreased HEI scores (>3%) from pre- to post-diagnosis had worse OS (HR 1.93, 95%CI: 1.26-2.97). Conclusion: High pre- and post-diagnosis diet quality was associated with improved OC survival, whereas deterioration in diet quality after diagnosis was associated with decreased OC survival.

Abstract
SCOPE The study aims to investigate the role of the sulfur microbial diet in the survival of ovarian cancer (OC). METHODS AND RESULTS A prospective cohort study is conducted with 703 patients diagnosed with OC between 2015 and 2020. Diet information is collected using a validated food frequency questionnaire. Deaths are ascertained up to March 31, 2021, via the death registry linkage. During the follow-up period (median: 37.2 months, interquartile range: 24.7-50.2 months), 130 deaths are observed. A higher sulfur microbial diet score is significantly associated with an increased risk of all-cause mortality among OC patients (tertile 3 vs tertile 1: HR = 1.93, 95% CI = 1.11-3.35). Each 1-standard deviation increment in the sulfur microbial diet score increases the all-cause mortality risk by 33% (95% CI = 1.04-1.71). Stratified analysis shows that significant associations are found in OC patients diagnosed over 50 years of age, with body mass index ≥24 kg m-2 , who changed their diet after diagnosis, or without residual lesions. CONCLUSIONS Adherence to the sulfur microbial diet, characterized by high intakes of red meats and processed meats, and low intakes of fruits, vegetables, and whole grains, is associated with poor survival in OC patients.

Abstract
Background: The colors of fruits and vegetables (FV) reflect the presence of pigmented bioactive compounds. The evidence of pre-diagnosis specific FV color group intake contributing to ovarian cancer (OC) survival is limited and inconsistent. Methods: A prospective cohort study was conducted between 2015 and 2020 with 700 newly diagnosed OC patients. Pre-diagnosis dietary information was assessed by a validated food frequency questionnaire. We classified FV into five groups based on the color of their edible parts (e.g., green, red/purple, orange/yellow, white, and uncategorized groups). Cox proportional hazard models were used to calculate hazard ratios (HRs) and 95% confidence intervals (CIs) for the association of specific color groups of FV before diagnosis with OC survival. Potential multiplicative and additive interactions were assessed. Results: 130 patients died during a median follow-up of 37.57 (interquartile: 24.77-50.20) months. We observed the improved survival with a higher pre-diagnosis intake of total FV (HRtertile 3 vs. tertile 1 = 0.63, 95%CI = 0.40-0.99), total vegetables (HRtertile 3 vs. tertile 1 = 0.57, 95%CI = 0.36-0.90), and red/purple FV (HRtertile 3 vs. tertile 1 = 0.52, 95%CI = 0.33-0.82). In addition, we observed significant dose-response relationships for per standard deviation increment between total vegetable intake (HR = 0.79, 95%CI = 0.65-0.96) and red/purple group intake (HR = 0.77, 95%CI = 0.60-0.99) before diagnosis with OC survival. Additionally, pre-diagnosis green FV intake was borderline associated with better OC survival (HRper standard deviation increment = 0.83; 95%CI = 0.69-1.00). In contrast, we did not observe significant associations between pre-diagnosis intake of total fruits, orange/yellow, white, and uncategorized groups and OC survival. Conclusion: Pre-diagnosis FV intake from various color groups, especially the green and red/purple ones, may improve OC survival. Further studies are needed to validate our findings.

Abstract
The number of cancer survivors is growing rapidly; however, specific lifestyle recommendations for these patients are still sparse, including dietary approaches. Thus, the aim of the present systematic review and meta-analysis was to examine the associations between adherence to diet-quality indices and dietary patterns on overall mortality, cancer-specific mortality, and cancer recurrence among cancer survivors. The literature search was conducted in PubMed and Web of Science between 18 May 2016 and 22 May 2022 with no language restrictions. Thirty-nine studies were included for quantitative analysis, providing data from 77,412 participants. Adherence to both diet-quality indices and a healthy/prudent dietary pattern was inversely associated with overall mortality (RR, 0.81; 95% CI, 0.77-0.86; RR, 0.80; 95% CI, 0.70-0.92, respectively) and with cancer-specific mortality (RR, 0.86; 95% CI, 0.79-0.94; RR, 0.79; 95% CI, 0.64-0.97, respectively). These associations could be observed following assessment of dietary patterns either pre- and/or postdiagnosis. For unhealthy/western dietary patterns, high adherence was associated with overall mortality (RR, 1.26; 95% CI, 1.08-1.47). Although the certainty of evidence was rated as low, we conclude that there are no reservations against high adherence to healthy dietary patterns or indices in cancer survivors.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Emerging evidence supports shifting the focus from the quantity of macronutrients to quality to obtain greater benefits for the prognosis of ovarian cancer (OC). Additionally, despite the high relevance between macronutrient quality and quantity, the interaction of these parameters on OC survival remains unknown. OBJECTIVE A multidimensional macronutrient quality index (MQI) was applied to investigate the association between overall macronutrient quality and the survival of patients with OC. METHODS A prospective cohort study was conducted with 701 females diagnosed with OC who were enrolled from 2015 to 2020. Dietary intake information was obtained from a validated food frequency questionnaire. The MQI was calculated based on 3 quality indices: carbohydrate quality index (CQI), fat quality index (FQI), and protein quality index (PQI). Cox proportional hazards regression was conducted to calculate HRs and 95% CIs. Furthermore, we evaluated whether energy intake status (total energy intake and energy balance) modified the association between MQI and OC survival. RESULTS During a median follow-up period of 38 (interquartile: 35-40) mo, 130 deaths occurred. The prediagnosis high MQI scores were associated with substantially improved survival among females with OC (HRtertile 3 vs. tertile 1 = 0.50, 95% CI: 0.33, 0.77). For sub-indices of the MQI, higher CQI (HR = 0.60, 95% CI: 0.36, 0.99), higher FQI (HR = 0.55, 95% CI: 0.34, 0.87), and higher PQI (HR = 0.58, 95% CI: 0.35, 0.94) scores were all associated with better survival. Notably, significant interactions were observed for the MQI score with total energy intake and energy balance as well as the quantity and quality of carbohydrates on survival. CONCLUSIONS Intake of high-quality macronutrients before diagnosis was associated with improved survival among females with OC, especially for those with energy imbalance. Purine Intake and All-Cause Mortality in Ovarian Cancer: Results from a Prospective Cohort Study. Nutrients 2023; 15:nu15040931. Abstract
BACKGROUND Current biological evidence suggests that purine involvement in purine metabolism may contribute to the development and progression of ovarian cancer (OC), but the epidemiological association is currently unknown. METHODS A total of 703 newly diagnosed patients with OC aged 18-79 years were included in this prospective cohort study. Utilizing a verified food-frequency questionnaire, the participants' dietary consumption was gathered. Using medical records and ongoing follow-up, the deaths up until 31 March 2021 were determined. To assess the hazard ratios (HRs) and 95% confidence intervals (CIs) of purine intake with OC mortality, Cox proportional-hazard models were utilized. RESULTS During the median follow-up of 31 months (interquartile: 20-47 months), 130 deaths occurred. We observed an improved survival for the highest tercile of total purine intake compared with the lowest tercile (HR = 0.39, 95% CI = 0.19-0.80; p trend < 0.05), and this protective association was mainly attributed to xanthine intake (HR = 0.52, 95% CI = 0.29-0.94, p trend < 0.05). Additionally, we observed a curving relationship in which OC mortality decreased with total purine intake, and the magnitude of the decrease was negatively correlated with intake (p non-linear < 0.05). Significant inverse associations were also observed in subgroup analyses and sensitivity analyses according to demographic and clinical characteristics. Moreover, we observed that xanthine intake and hypoxanthine intake had a multiplicative interaction with ER and PR expression (p < 0.05), respectively. CONCLUSION A high total purine and xanthine intake was linked to a lower risk of OC mortality. Further clarification of these findings is warranted.

Abstract
Background: The nutrients-rich food (NRF) index provides a score of diet quality. Although high diet quality is associated with survival of ovarian cancer (OC), the associations between NRF index scores and OC survival remain unevaluated. Methods: The prospective cohort study enrolled 703 women with newly diagnosed epithelial OC to assess the correlations between NRF index scores and overall survival (OS) in OC patients. Dietary consumption was evaluated through a food frequency questionnaire and diet quality was calculated based on NRF index scores, including three limited nutrients and six (NRF6.3), nine (NRF9.3), or eleven (NRF11.3) benefit nutrients. All-cause deaths were ascertained through medical records combined with active follow-up. Immunohistochemistry (IHC) analyses were conducted to evaluate the expression of IHC indicators (including Estrogen Receptor, Progesterone Receptor, p53, Vimentin, and Wilms' tumor 1), which were identified by two independent pathologists. The Cox proportional hazards regression models were applied for estimating the hazard ratios (HRs) and 95% confidence intervals (CIs). Moreover, we performed the penalized cubic splines model to assess the curvilinear associations of NRF index scores with OC survival. Results: During the median follow-up of 37.17 (interquartile: 24.73-50.17) months, 130 deaths were documented. Compared to the lowest tertiles, the highest tertile of index scores [NRF9.3 (HR = 0.63, 95% CI = 0.41-0.95), NRF6.3 (HR = 0.59, 95% CI = 0.39-0.89), and NRF11.3 (HR = 0.57, 95% CI = 0.38-0.87)] were correlated to better OS, showing an obvious linear trend (all p trend < 0.05). Interestingly, the curvilinear association between the NRF6.3 index score and OC survival was also observed (p non-linear < 0.05). Subgroup analyses, stratified by clinical, demographic, and IHC features, showed similar risk associations as the unstratified results. Furthermore, there were significant multiplicative interactions between NRF index scores and Progestogen Receptors as well as Wilms' tumor 1 expressions (all p interaction < 0.05). Conclusions: Higher NRF index scores were associated with an improved OS in OC patients.

Abstract
Background: Epidemiological evidence regarding the relationship between dietary antioxidant vitamin intake and ovarian cancer (OC) survival is not clear. Herein, we aimed to first evaluate this topic in a prospective cohort study in China. Methods: The present study included participants from the Ovarian Cancer Follow-Up Study, which was a hospital-based prospective cohort study including OC patients who were aged 18 to 79 years during 2015-2020. The information on the intake of antioxidant vitamins, consisting of vitamin A, retinol, α-carotene, β-carotene, vitamin C, and vitamin E, and other diet information was obtained through a 111-item food frequency questionnaire. Deaths were recorded until March 31, 2021. Hazard ratios (HRs) and 95% confidence intervals (CIs) for overall survival were evaluated using Cox proportional hazards models. Results: There were 130 (18.49%) deaths among 703 OC patients during a median 37.19 months follow-up. In the multivariable-adjusted model, the highest tertile of dietary vitamin C (HR = 0.43, 95% CI = 0.25-0.75, P for trend <0.05) and β-carotene intake (HR = 0.52, 95% CI = 0.31-0.87, P for trend <0.05) was inversely associated with the overall survival of OC when compared with the lowest tertile group. Retinol, vitamin A, vitamin E, and α-carotene consumption showed no association with OC survival. Of note is that the multiplicative interaction was identified between vitamin C intake and residual lesions in OC survival (P for interaction <0.05). Conclusion: Our findings indicate that pre-diagnostic higher vitamin C and β-carotene intake was associated with improved OC survival.

Abstract
BACKGROUND The impact of dietary trace elements intake on ovarian cancer (OC) severity is unknown. OBJECTIVE We firstly explore the relationship between dietary copper (Cu), zinc (Zn), and copper-to-zinc (Cu/Zn) ratio and severity of OC. METHODS This cross-sectional study included 701 women from the OC follow-up study between 2015 and 2020. Dietary information was collected by a validated food frequency questionnaire (FFQ). The severity information of OC including age at diagnosis, histological type, International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics (FIGO) stage, and histopathologic grade was ascertained from medical records. Logistic regression model was used to estimate the odds ratios (ORs) and 95% confidence intervals (CIs) of aforementioned associations. RESULTS Among 701 participants, the number of patients age at diagnosis older than 50 were 443 (63.2%). The number of patients diagnosed as serous, III-IV stage, and poorly differentiation OC were 477 (68.05%), 336 (47.93%), and 597 (85.16%), respectively. In addition, compared with the lowest tertile intake, higher possibility of non-serous OC was associated with the pre-diagnosis dietary Cu (OR = 2.39, 95% CI = 1.28-4.47, p trend < 0.05) and Cu/Zn ratio (OR = 2.06, 95% CI = 1.26-3.39, P trend < 0.05) in the highest tertile intake. The risk of poorly differentiation OC at diagnosis was significant inversely related to dietary Cu intake (OR = 0.40, 95% CI = 0.18-0.88, P trend < 0.05). Besides, the results of subgroup analyses were consistent with the main findings but not all of them showed statistical significance. CONCLUSION Pre-diagnostic dietary Cu and Cu/Zn ratio were contributed to reducing the severity of OC at diagnosis, especially for the risk of serous OC and poorly differentiation OC.

Abstract
Background The intake of ultra-processed foods (UPFs) has increased rapidly in recent years. Evidence has suggested that UPFs has adverse effects on several health outcomes. This study aimed to first evaluate the association between the intake of UPFs and asthenozoospermia odds. Methods A hospital-based case-control study including 549 cases and 581 controls was performed in the infertility clinics of Shengjing Hospital of China Medical University from June 2020 to December 2020. Dietary intake was assessed using a validated food frequency questionnaire. Food items were categorized by the NOVA classification system based on the degree of processing. Semen parameters were analyzed according to the World Health Organization guidelines. Results The highest tertile of UPFs intake (% of total energy intake) was positively associated with the odds of asthenozoospermia (odds ratio [OR] = 1.53; 95% confidence interval [CI]: 1.12, 2.10; P for trend < 0.05), compared with the lowest tertile. Similar patterns were also found in subgroup analyses among participants with age ≥32 years (OR = 1.58; 95% CI: 1.04, 2.40), BMI ≥ 24 kg/m2 (OR = 1.52; 95% CI: 1.04, 2.22), ever cigarette smoking (OR = 1.78; 95% CI: 1.14, 2.79), and ever alcohol drinking (OR = 1.65; 95% CI: 1.01, 2.72), and in sensitivity analyses by using absolute amount (g/day) to calculate the intake of UPFs. Conclusion Higher consumption of UPFs was positively associated with the odds of asthenozoospermia. More studies are needed to confirm our findings.

Abstract
Background: The association between the ratio of fiber to carbohydrate (F : C-R) and cancer mortality is not currently well-known. We prospectively evaluated for the first time the aforementioned topic among ovarian cancer (OC) patients. Methods: A total of 703 newly diagnosed OC patients aged 18-79 years were included. Pre-diagnosis diet intake details were collected with a validated food frequency questionnaire. Deaths were ascertained until March 31, 2021, based on medical records and the cancer registry. Cox proportional hazard models were used to evaluate hazard ratios (HRs) and 95% confidence intervals (CIs) between pre-diagnostic fiber, carbohydrate, and F : C-R intake and OC mortality. Restricted cubic splines were used to analyze the potential nonlinear relationship between F : C-R and OC mortality. Results: During the follow-up period (median: 37.2 months; interquartile: 24.7-50.2 months), we observed 130 (18.49%) OC patients died. The pre-diagnosis higher fiber intake (comparing the highest with the lowest tertile of intake: HR = 0.56, 95% CI = 0.35-0.92; HR per 1 SD increment: 0.78, 95% CI = 0.64-0.96; P trend < 0.05) and higher F : C-R intake (comparing the highest with the lowest tertile of intake: HR = 0.51, 95% CI = 0.31-0.85; HR per 1-SD increment: 0.73; 95% CI = 0.59-0.91; P trend < 0.05) were significantly associated with lower mortality for OC patients, but no evidence of the association between pre-diagnosis carbohydrate intake and OC mortality was observed. We found no evidence of a nonlinear relationship between F : C-R and OC mortality. Significant inverse associations were also observed for subgroup analyses stratified by age at diagnosis, menopausal status, residual lesions, histological type, FIGO stage, and body mass index, although not all associations showed statistical significance. Conclusion: Pre-diagnosis high fiber intake and high F : C-R diet intake were associated with a decreased risk of OC mortality.

Abstract
Background Phytosterol is a bioactive compound existing in all plant foods, which might have anticancer properties. The aim of this study was to first assess the impact of the pre-diagnosis phytosterol intake on overall survival (OS) of patients with ovarian cancer (OC). Materials and methods This ambispective cohort study recruited 703 newly diagnosed OC patients to investigate the aforementioned associations. Dietary intake was assessed using a validated 111-item food frequency questionnaire. Deaths were ascertained until March 31, 2021, through active follow-up and medical records. Cox proportional hazards regression models were applied to calculate the hazard ratios (HRs) and 95% confidence intervals (CIs). Results During the median follow-up of 37.17 months, 130 deaths occurred. The median age at diagnosis of 703 OC patients was 53.00 (interquartile: 48.00–60.00) years. Of these, almost half patients (48.08%) were diagnosed in advanced International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics (FIGO) stage (III-IV). Additionally, more than half patients were serous carcinoma (68.14%), poorly differentiated (85.21%), and no residual lesions (78.66%). Patients consumed the highest tertile of dietary campesterol (HR = 0.54, 95% CI = 0.31–0.94, P trend < 0.05), stigmasterol (HR = 0.60, 95% CI = 0.37–0.98), and β-sitosterol (HR = 0.63, 95% CI = 0.40–0.99) were significantly associated with better OS compared with those with the lowest tertile of intake. The curvilinear associations were observed between total phytosterols and β-sitosterol intake and OC survival (P non-linear < 0.05). Significant associations were generally consistent across different subgroups stratified by demographical, clinical, and immunohistochemical characteristics. Moreover, there were significant interactions between phytosterol intake and age at diagnosis, body mass index, as well as expressions of Wilms’ tumor-1 and Progestogen Receptor (all P interaction < 0.05). Conclusion Pre-diagnosis higher campesterol, stigmasterol, and β-sitosterol intake were associated with better survival among OC patients.

Abstract
The ovarian cancer (OC) follow-up study (OOPS) is an on-going hospital-based large prospective longitudinal cohort study aimed to explore the relationship between pre/post-diagnostic biological, clinical, environmental, and lifestyle factors with focus on the diet and OC prognosis (including drug resistance, relapse, and mortality). Patients recruited during the baseline survey were between 18 and 79 years old, with histologically confirmed OC diagnosis. Their follow-up and medical treatment were conducted at the gynecological oncology ward at Shengjing Hospital of China Medical University, Shenyang, China after 2015. A total of 703 OC patients made up the final OOPS study population. The follow-up stage was conducted in both passive and active modes. In the passive mode, the follow-up was performed by linkage to the Liaoning Providence Center for Disease Control and Prevention every 6 months to obtain health outcome results. The status of lifestyle factors was re-estimated using the same measurements as those in the baseline survey. OC participants in the OOPS study completed a questionnaire and anthropometric examinations. In addition, biological specimens were collected during the baseline survey, which included blood, urine, and stool samples that were stored for further use. This article is intended to serve as an introduction to this project and to provide details for investigators who may be carry out related analysis.

Deaths were ascertained up to March 31, 2021 via medical records and active follow-up. We used the Cox proportional hazards model to estimate hazard ratios (HRs) and 95% confidence intervals (CIs). Results: During the median follow-up of 37.17 months, 130 women died. Pre-diagnosis fish and seafood intake was associated with better survival (HRT3 vs. T1 = 0.46, 95% CI = 0.26-0.82, p trend <0.05), whereas processed red meat (HR = 1.54, 95% CI = 1.04-2.26) and a high frequency of fried fish intake (HR = 1.49, 95% CI = 1.03-2.16) were associated with worse survival than consuming none. After considering the interaction of cooking methods, we found that compared with the lowest tertile of fish and seafood intake and almost no fried fish cooking, women with the highest tertile of intake and almost no fried fish cooking had better survival (HR = 0.35, 95% CI = 0.13-0.92). Additionally, compared with the lowest tertile of fish and seafood intake and almost no baked fish cooking, women with the lowest tertile of intake and consuming baked fish had worse survival (HR = 3.75, 95% CI = 1.53-9.15). Conclusions: Pre-diagnosis fish and seafood intake was associated with better OC survival, whereas processed red meat intake was associated with worse survival. Cooking methods, especially for fried or baked fish, may play interaction effects with fish intake on OC survival.

Abstract
Background and Aims Epidemiological evidence on the relation between one-carbon metabolism (OCM) micronutrients intake and ovarian cancer (OC) survival are limited and conflicting. We evaluated the aforementioned associations in a prospective cohort-the Ovarian Cancer Follow-Up Study. Methods A total of 635 newly diagnosed OC patients aged 18–79 y were enrolled in the present study. Dietary intake related to one-carbon metabolism, including methionine, vitamins B2, B3, B6, B9, B12, choline, and betaine, was assessed using a validated 111-item food frequency questionnaire. Deaths were ascertained until March 31, 2021, via medical records and active follow-up. Cox proportional hazards regression model was used to evaluate the hazard ratios (HRs) and 95% confidence intervals (CIs) for these aforementioned associations. Results During a median follow-up of 37.2 months (interquartile: 24.7–50.2 months), 114 deaths were identified. We observed an improved survival with the highest compared with the lowest tertile of dietary vitamin B6 (HR = 0.52, 95%CI: 0.32–0.84, P-trend <0.05) and choline intake (HR = 0.50, 95%CI: 0.30–0.83, P-trend <0.05). No significant associations with OC survival were observed for dietary vitamins B2, B3, B9, B12, methionine, and betaine intake. We also observed a curvilinear association between vitamin B6 intake and OC survival (P non-linear <0.05). Conclusion Our study suggests that pre-diagnosis higher intake of vitamin B6 and choline may improve OC survival. Further clarification of these associations is warranted.

Abstract
Higher levels of pre-diagnosis fat-soluble choline intake was associated with better overall survival of ovarian cancer, and this association was more attributed to phosphatidylcholine.
