Abstract
Two new Ag(I) complexes with coumaric carboxylic acid derivatives have been synthesized. Structural studies of these noncrystalline complexes have been performed using a methodology that combines laboratory and synchrotron techniques, supported by density functional theory calculations. The arrangement of ligands around the Ag(I) cation has been refined using infrared, extended X-ray absorption fine structure, and X-ray absorption near edge structure spectroscopies. Different coordination modes of carboxylate ligands are observed for the studied compounds. Carboxylate bridges are characteristic for the Ag(I) complex with 4-oxo-4H-1-benzopyran-2-carboxylic acid (1), while a bidentate chelating motif was found for the complex with 2-oxo-2H-1-benzopyran-3-carboxylic acid (2). Additionally, the carbonyl oxygen atom of the coumarin ring coordinates to the silver cation in complex 2, while it is inactive in complex 1. Antimicrobial evaluation has been performed for both compounds. The complexes show activity against selected bacteria as well as Candida yeast. This activity is slightly lower for bacteria and the same or higher for Candida in relation to the reference substances: ciprofloxacin or fluconazole.

Abstract
In the frame of a systematic study on the sequestering ability of natural antioxidants towards metal cations, here the complexation of coumarin-3-carboxilic acid (HCCA) with Pb(II) and the overall stability constants of the resulting complexes, at 37 °C and in 0.16 M NaClO4, are discussed. Reaction of Pb(ClO4)2 with HCCA in an aqueous medium at a pH range from 2 to 6 and various ratios (1:1-1:10) yielded the Pb-CCA complexes, which were characterized spectrometrically by laser desorption ionization mass spectrometry (LD-MS). LD-MS has provided the composition and structure of Pb-CCA species according to the speciation model proposed on the basis of the potentiometric data. The graphic representation of the complex's concentration curves is given by the distribution diagram, which provides a whole depiction of the species present in the solution at the selected pH ranges.

Abstract
Because of its versatile coordination modes and strong coordination ability, the mercaptoacetic acid substituted 1,2,4-triazole 2-{[5-(pyridin-2-yl)-4H-1,2,4-triazol-3-yl]sulfanyl}acetic acid (H2L) was synthesized and characterized. Treatment of H2L with cobalt and nickel acetate afforded the dinuclear complexes {μ-3-[(carboxylatomethyl)sulfanyl]-5-(pyridin-2-yl)-4H-1,2,4-triazol-4-ido-κ2N1,N5:N2,O}bis[aqua(methanol-κO)cobalt(II)] methanol disolvate, [Co2(C9H6N4O2S)2(CH3OH)2(H2O)2]·2CH3OH (1), and {μ-3-[(carboxylatomethyl)sulfanyl]-5-(pyridin-2-yl)-4H-1,2,4-triazol-4-ido-κ2N1,N5:N2,O}bis[diaquanickel(II)] methanol disolvate dihydrate, [Ni2(C9H6N4O2S)2(H2O)4]·2CH3OH·2H2O (2), respectively. Complex 1 crystallized in the monoclinic space group P21/c, while 2 crystallized in the tetragonal space group I41/a. Single-crystal X-ray diffraction studies revealed that H2L is doubly deprotonated and acts as a tetradentate bridging ligand in complexes 1 and 2. For both of the obtained complexes, extensive hydrogen-bond interactions contribute to the formation of their three-dimensional supermolecular structures. Hirshfeld surface analysis was used to illustrate the intermolecular interactions. Additionally, the urease inhibitory activities of 1, 2 and H2L were investigated against jack bean urease, where the two complexes revealed strong urease inhibition activities.
