Abstract
This scoping review aims to summarize current research to assess the impact of heating on the chemo-physical properties of bioceramic sealers. Following the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) Extension for Scoping Reviews guidelines, a comprehensive literature search was conducted in April 2024 across PubMed and Scopus databases. Inclusion criteria referred to all study types evaluating the effect of heating temperature on bioceramic sealers' properties, with no language or time restrictions applied. Studies were independently screened by two reviewers, and relevant data were extracted and synthesized qualitatively. Out of 91 initially identified studies, 19 met the eligibility criteria for inclusion in the qualitative synthesis. The selected studies ranged from 2014 to 2024 and comprised laboratory-based investigations. Various bioceramic sealers, including EndoSequence BC Sealer, BioRoot RCS, and TotalFill BC, were analyzed across different heating techniques. The findings revealed divergent responses of bioceramic sealers to heat, with some demonstrating stability while others exhibited alterations in properties such as flow, setting time, and chemical composition. The impact of heat on bioceramic sealers depends on the sealer's composition and laboratory setting. While some sealers are affected significantly, others remain stable. Clinicians should carefully consider these factors when bioceramic sealers are used with warm obturation techniques, but caution is needed as real-world conditions may vary. Integrating laboratory results with clinical evidence is essential for improving treatment efficacy and patient care.

Abstract
This micro-computed tomography (micro-CT) analysis in vitro study was designed to compare void volume in root canal fillings performed using the single-cone (SC) technique and the continuous wave condensation (CWC) technique with bioceramic (BC) sealer. Forty human-extracted, single-rooted mandibular premolars were cleaned, shaped, and divided into two groups (n = 20) based on the obturation technique. In the first group, obturation was performed using the CWC technique with TotalFill HiFlow BC sealer. In the second group, obturation was performed using the SC technique with the conventional TotalFill BC sealer. All roots were scanned with micro-CT, and ©CTAn software version 1.20.8.0 was used to measure the void volume of each root third in all samples. Despite the different obturation techniques, both groups exhibited voids in filled root canals. The overall mean void volume in the SC group (0.253 ± 0.186) was significantly higher (p = 0.000) than that in the CWC group (0.035 ± 0.043). The difference was significant in the coronal (p = 0.000) and middle (p = 0.017) thirds. The CWC technique with TotalFill HiFlow BC sealer achieved superior obturation quality compared to the SC technique with conventional BC sealer in oval-shaped premolars.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES This 2-part randomized parallel triple-blind clinical trial adopts a unique model assessing clinically-set hydraulic calcium silicate-based sealers (HCSBS) after different root canal dryness protocols and obturation techniques. METHODS For the first phase of the study, 24 teeth scheduled for orthodontic extractions were allocated into four groups according to the canal dryness protocol and the obturation technique. G1 (CLC-AHP): cold lateral compaction (CLC) with AH Plus sealer, G2 (CLC-ES-SD): CLC with Endosequence (ES) after standard canal(s) dryness (SD); G3 (SC-ES-SD): matching single-cone (SC) with ES after SD; G4 (SC-ES-PD): as G3 but after partial canal(s) dryness (PD). Teeth were extracted after one month of clinical service and examined for intracanal voids by micro-CT (2D & 3D). For the 2nd phase, another 24 teeth were allocated into four groups according to the root canal dryness protocol and the HCSBS used (ES or CeraSeal (CeS)). Teeth were extracted after one month and sectioned vertically for energy dispersive X-ray (EDX)/scanning electron microscope (SEM) examination. One-way ANOVA with Games-Howell post-hoc test and Chi-square test with multiple z-tests were used for statistical analysis. RESULTS SC-PD showed the highest percentage of voids (p < 0.05). MicroCT scans as well as EDX/SEM examination showed that PD resulted in significantly larger interfacial gaps (p < 0.001) with more hydration products at the sealer/dentin interface than SD. CONCLUSIONS Both tested dryness protocols allowed the hydration of HCSBS and the formation of hydration products, thus standard dryness is recommended to reduce the incidence of intracanal voids. CLINICAL RELEVANCE When using the single-cone obturation technique, intentional root canal moisture negatively affects the performance of HCSBS. PROTOCOL REGISTRATION http://www. Abstract
Root canal treatment (RCT) involves cleaning and shaping of the root canal system before filling the canals with obturating materials, often gutta-percha (GP). The two primary obturation techniques are the thermogenic (warm vertical compaction, WVC) and hydraulic (single cone, SC) techniques. The objective of this study is to compare the clinical results and effectiveness of thermogenic and hydraulic obturation procedures in endodontic therapy to provide clinicians with evidence-based recommendations. Search strategies were conducted on February 01, 2024 and involved the databases Web of Science, PUBMED, Google Scholar, Scopus, Medline, Embase, NCBI, and Cochrane Library. The current systematic review included systematic reviews; meta-analyses; cohort studies; randomized controlled trial (RCT) studies; studies involving the comparison between single cone and warm compaction techniques; studies involving outcomes that include advantages, disadvantages, and complications associated with single cone or warm compaction techniques; and studies published within the last seven years. The selected studies were restricted to those with insufficient data, review articles without authentic references, publications in a language other than English, animal studies, and studies not involving SC or WVC. Out of 2300 studies registered, only 12 studies were included in the review. Both WVC and SC techniques showed satisfactory root canal fillings. However, five studies showed differences in the filling quality, four studies assessed the sealing ability and the dentinal tubule penetration of sealers, one study compared dentinal cracks, one study evaluated the amount of debris excluded apically, and one study compared the post-operative pain while using both techniques. The WVC and SC obturation techniques offer advantages and disadvantages in endodontic treatment. SC obturation is a simple and efficient procedure that is particularly suitable for situations with uncomplicated canal structures. The WVC obturation approach provides superior flexibility and sealing capability, especially in the complex root canal system. When choosing the method of treatment, it is important to take into account the patient's preferences, the clinician's experience, and unique considerations related to the situation. This systematic review highlights the important recommendations to healthcare professionals in selecting the most suitable obturation procedure based on the specific requirements of each clinical scenario. Research involving long-term follow-ups is required to get a better understanding of the outcomes of long-term goals. Clinical relevance: ability to educate clinicians regarding the best obturation technique between thermogenic and hydraulic. It directs the treatment decisions to maximize patient's comfort, minimize post-operative complications, and improve efficacy in endodontic practice.

Abstract
This case presents clinical techniques and materials that may be applied in the management of internal tunnelling root resorption, a rare condition which has little published literature.A 25-year-old woman was referred to a specialist centre by her general dental practitioner following an incidental finding of a radiographic radiolucency, suggestive of root resorption associated with tooth 21. A provisional diagnosis of external cervical resorption was made, and following cone beam computed tomography (CBCT), a definitive diagnosis of internal tunnelling root resorption given. Non-surgical endodontic treatment was completed using continuous wave compaction with a calcium-silicate based sealer. No further intervention has been required.A summary of the histology, aetiology, prevalence, diagnosis, management and prognosis of internal tunnelling root resorption is provided. The benefits of CBCT for diagnosing and managing internal tunnelling resorption defects and using continuous wave compaction with a calcium-silicate based sealer, compared to cold obturation techniques, are discussed.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION Gutta-percha combined with an endodontic sealer remains the most widely used obturation technique. Bioceramic sealers (BS) were developed for root canal obturation in combination with gutta-percha cones using the cold single-cone technique. Few studies have assessed the effect of thermal treatment on the performance of BS. The present study evaluated the effect of heat on BS adhesion to root dentine in the apical third of the root canal of extracted human lower premolars. MATERIALS AND METHODS Three BS combined with a hydraulic condensation technique, a warm vertical compaction technique, and a carrier-based technique were evaluated. Sixty three lower premolars were prepared following the same surgical protocol to standardize root canal shape at the level of the apex, randomly assigned to one of nine groups, and obturated accordingly. One millimeter-thick sections were subjected to a push-out test using a universal testing machine and classified according to mode of failure. Two-way ANOVA was applied using SPSS software (IBM Corp). RESULTS No significant differences in maximum load or failure mode were observed among BS, techniques, or when considering the interaction between sealers and techniques. CONCLUSIONS The heat generated by the obturation techniques used here did not affect BS adhesion to the dentinal wall.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES The introduction of hydraulic cement sealers has increased the popularity of single cone obturation where the chemistry and properties of hydraulic cement sealers are crucial. This article has investigated the materials present on the market by reviewing the chemistry aiming at understanding whether these materials are optimized or have been tested appropriately. METHODOLOGY A market search on materials called bioceramic and hydraulic sealers was undertaken. The safety data sheet and manufacturer details for every material were searched and the components were checked. The literature was searched for information about the properties of these materials based on their composition. RESULTS The safety data sheets and manufacturer details were imprecise with some manufacturers providing little detail on composition. From the publications reviewed, it is apparent that the materials used clinically are not optimized, and there is little evidence that the material chemistry and presentation aid the clinical technique in any way. CONCLUSIONS There has been a rapid increase in materials identifying as bioceramics on the market. These materials have diverse chemistries, and some of the constituents are not declared. This may affect the clinical performance of these materials. CLINICAL SIGNIFICANCE Smart materials developed on the clinical need which are appropriately tested are necessary for a paradigm shift in root canal obturation. It is important to use reputable materials that have been adequately researched in clinical practice.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES This study aims to assess the obturation efficacy of sealers placed with different techniques using microcomputed tomography (µCT) and assess the influence of µCT testing parameters on the obturation data obtained. MATERIALS AND METHODS Incisors and mesial roots of lower molars with standardized root length were scanned using µCT, and one tooth of each type was 3D printed in acrylic. Two obturation techniques (warm vertical and single cone) and 4 sealer types (AH Plus, BioRoot RCS, Totalfill BC, and Bio-C Sealers) were assessed following storage in Hank's balanced salt solution for 3 and 6 months by assessing gap and void volume percentages on both natural and replica incisor and molar roots. The storage solution was analysed to assess calcium ion leaching. The influence of temperature, tooth positioning, and moisture content of the teeth while µCT scanning was also investigated. RESULTS The obturation quality in the incisor group was the same using both natural teeth and replicas (p > 0.05). No changes in void volume were identified when comparing the same sealer using different obturation techniques. The premixed sealers used in single-cone obturation exhibited high void volume in the 3D printed replicas in the long term. The temperature, positioning, and moisture content of the teeth did not affect the outcome of µCT testing. CONCLUSIONS BioRoot RCS, Totalfill BC, and Bio-C Sealers are suitable for obturation of both complex and simple root canal systems using different obturation techniques with BioRoot RCS exhibiting the highest calcium ion release. 3D printed acrylic teeth can be used to assess the obturation quality in uncomplicated root canal systems. µCT parameters had no significant effect on the µCT measurement. CLINICAL RELEVANCE The single-cone obturation technique with hydraulic sealer is a simple technique that can be used for obturation of all root canal systems.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To determine the impact of heat exposure of different sealers on inflammatory cytokine secretions and tissue response in vivo. MATERIALS AND METHODS Silicone tubes were prefilled with epoxy resin (ER) or calcium silicate (CS) sealers, preheated at 37, 60, or 120 °C, and implanted in rat subcutaneous site. Peri-implant exudate and tissue were analyzed after 1 and 4 weeks for cytokine secretions and tissue organization. RESULTS At 1 week, 120 °C-preheated CS and ER induced higher secretions of tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF-α) and interleukin 6 (IL-6), respectively, as compared to sham/empty tube groups. At 4 weeks, whereas TNF-α secretion was reduced in CS, it increased in ER group, particularly for 120 °C. Both sealers revealed high IL-6 after 4 weeks as compared to sham/empty tube, and generally, higher IL-6 secretions were associated with ER. Histology at 1 week revealed lower degree of inflammatory infiltrate in the groups of the highest preheating temperature (120 °C). Nonetheless, at 4 weeks, whereas fibrous capsule area and inflammatory infiltrate remained low in the CS120 group, they were high in ER120. CONCLUSION Preheating ER sealer to 120 °C induced high and prolonged secretion of proinflammatory cytokines (TNF-α and IL-6), whereas this effect was transient for the CS sealer. This was associated with increased fibrous capsule and inflammatory infiltrate in response to 120 °C-preheated ER. CLINICAL RELEVANCE Heat-induced changes in sealer properties alter the inflammatory response in vivo, which may affect the clinical outcome. This will not only help appropriate selection of obturation technique for different sealers, but also for optimizing the properties of new generation of sealers.

Abstract
Background: Recently several calcium silicate flowable sealers have been introduced as endodontic materials for the root canal. This clinical study tested the use of a new premixed calcium silicate bioceramic sealer in association with the Thermafil warm carrier-based technique (TF). Epoxy-resin-based sealer with the warm carrier-based technique was the control group. Methodology: Healthy consecutive patients (n = 85) requiring 94 root canal treatments were enrolled in this study and assigned to one filling group (Ceraseal-TF n = 47, AH Plus-TF n = 47) in accordance with operator training and best clinical practice. Periapical X-rays were taken preoperatively, after root canal filling and after 6, 12 and 24 months. Two evaluators blindly assessed the periapical index (PAI) and sealer extrusion in the groups (k = 0.90). Healing rate and survival rate were also evaluated. Chi-square tests was used to analyze significant differences between the groups. Multilevel analysis was performed to evaluate the factors associated with healing status. Results: A total of 89 root canal treatments in 82 patients were analyzed at the end-line (24 months). The total drop-out was 3.6% (3 patients; 5 teeth). A total of 91.1% of healed teeth (PAI 1-2) was observed in Ceraseal-TF, with 88.6% in AH Plus-TF. No significant difference was observed on healing outcome and survival among the two filling groups (p > 0.05). Apical extrusion of the sealers occurred in 17 cases (19.0%). Of these, 6 occurred in Ceraseal-TF (13.3%) and 11 in AH Plus-TF (25.0%). Three Ceraseal extrusions were radiographically undetectable after 24 months. All the AH Plus extrusions did not change during the evaluation time. Conclusions: The combined use of the carrier-based technique and premixed CaSi-based bioceramic sealer showed clinical results comparable with carrier-based technique and epoxy-resin-based sealer. The radiographical disappearance of apically extruded Ceraseal is a possible event in the first 24 months.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To assess the percentage of marginal gaps and voids in oval-shaped canals obturated by using two warm compaction techniques with a Bio-C sealer and AH Plus Jet. MATERIALS AND METHODS Forty canines with oval canals were scanned by microcomputed tomography (micro-CT), and root canal preparation was performed with an XP-endo Shaper system and irrigated with 5.25% sodium hypochlorite. Then, the specimens were paired into four groups (n=10) according to the root canal filling technique and endodontic sealer: Bio-C sealer and continuous wave of condensation, Bio-C sealer and Tagger's hybrid, AH Plus Jet and continuous wave of condensation, and AH Plus Jet and Tagger's hybrid. After root canal filling, a new scan was performed. The percentage of marginal gaps and voids was calculated with the ImageJ software, and the data were analyzed statistically using two-way ANOVA and Tukey tests, with a significance level of 5%. RESULTS The percentage of marginal gaps was significantly lower in the Bio-C sealer than in AH Plus Jet (p=0.021) regardless of the technique. However, no difference was found in the percentage of voids between root canal filling techniques and the endodontic sealer (p>0.05). CONCLUSION Both sealers and techniques demonstrated good quality of root canal filling. However, the use of the Bio-C sealer enhanced the filling ability by reducing marginal gaps, regardless of the root canal filling technique. CLINICAL RELEVANCE This study highlights the better performance of the Bio-C sealer in the quality of the root canal filling, reducing marginal gaps when compared to AH Plus Jet independent of the technique.

Abstract
This study aimed to investigate the short- and long-term solubility, alkalizing potential, and suitability for warm-vertical compaction of AH Plus Bioceramic Sealer (AHBC), and Total Fill BC Sealer (TFBC) compared to the epoxy-resin sealer AH Plus (AHP). A solubility test was performed according to ISO specification 6876 and further similar to ISO requirements over a period of 1 month in distilled water (AD) and 4 months in phosphate-buffered saline (PBS). The pH of the immersion solution was determined weekly. Sealers were exposed to thermal treatment at 37, 57, 67, and 97 °C for 30 s. Furthermore, heat treatment at 97 °C was performed for 180 s to simulate inappropriate implementation of warm vertical filling techniques. Physical properties (setting time, flow, film thickness according to ISO 6876) and chemical properties (Fourier transformed infrared spectroscopy) were assessed. AHBC and TFBC were associated with significantly higher solubility than AHP over 1 month in AD and 4 months in PBS (p < 0.05). AHBC and TFBC both reached high initial alkaline pH, while TFBC was associated with a longer-lasting alkaline potential than AHBC. Initial pH of AHBC and TFBC was higher in AD than in PBS. None of the sealers were compromised by thermal treatment.

Abstract
Objective The aim of this paper was to evaluate the intratubular penetration area of a bioceramic sealer, using continuous wave (CW), vertical condensation (VC) with two different types of gutta-percha (conventional (NG) and bioceramic-coated (BG)) and single cone (SC) technique with BG gutta-percha, in different root thirds. Methods A total of 150 mature single-root human teeth (including incisors, canines and premolars) were prepared and randomly divided into five groups (n = 30). Teeth were filled using a bioceramic sealer (TotalFill BC Sealer HiFlow ®) and two different types of gutta-percha, with CW and VC techniques, the teeth in the control group were filled with SC technique and BG gutta-percha. The teeth were sectioned and evaluated as one-third portions in each case under a confocal laser microscope. The penetration area measurements were carried out with the Autocad ® programme. Data was analyzed using the one-factor ANOVA test (p < 0.05) and Post Hoc Test (p < 0.05). Results The ANOVA Test showed significant differences in the penetration areas of the five obturation techniques (P < 0.05). The Post Hoc Test exhibited significant differences in multiple comparisons (P < 0.05). There was more dentinal tubule penetration in the coronal third than in the apical third in all techniques. Conclusions The intratubular penetration of the bioceramic sealer was influenced by the obturation techniques tested, but not by the different gutta-percha tested. There was more penetration of sealer in the warm obturation techniques than the SC, regardless of the type of gutta-percha used.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Hydraulic materials are used in Endodontics due to their hydration characteristics namely the formation of calcium hydroxide when mixing with water and also because of their hydraulic properties. These materials are presented in various consistencies and delivery methods. They are composed primarily of tricalcium and dicalcium silicate, and also include a radiopacifier, additives and an aqueous or a non-aqueous vehicle. Only materials whose primary reaction is with water can be classified as hydraulic. OBJECTIVES Review of the classification of hydraulic materials by Camilleri and the literature pertaining to specific uses of hydraulic cements in endodontics namely intra-coronal, intra-radicular and extra-radicular. Review of the literature on the material properties linked to specific uses providing the current status of these materials after which future trends and gaps in knowledge could be identified. METHODS The literature was reviewed using PUBMED, and for each clinical use, the in vitro properties such as physical, chemical, biological and antimicrobial characteristics and clinical data were extracted and evaluated. RESULTS A large number of publications were retrieved for each clinical use and these were grouped depending on the property type being investigated. CONCLUSIONS The hydraulic cements have made a difference in clinical outcomes. The main shortcoming is the poor testing methodologies employed which provide very limited information and also inhibits adequate clinical translation. Furthermore, the clinical protocols need to be updated to enable the materials to be employed effectively.

Abstract
This study aimed to investigate the effect of the heat-based obturation technique on the push-out bond strength of the classical bioceramic and new HiFlow sealer. Fifty single-rooted human mandibular premolars were obturated using one of the following techniques: (1) BC-SC; (2) BC-W; (3) HiFlow-SC; (4) HiFlow-W; and (5) AH Plus-W. Following obturation, specimens were sectioned into 1-mm-thick root slices 4 and 8 mm from the working length and were subjected to a push-out bond test using a universal testing machine and examined for their modes of failure under an inverted phase-contrast microscope. At both distances tested, there was no difference in the push-out bond strength among the four bioceramic groups (P > 0.05). The AH Plus-W group had lower bond strength than every other group at both distances from the working length. The most common failure mode was mixed failure.

Abstract
PURPOSE To examine the microscopic surface features, chemical composition, and thermodynamic profile of seven endodontic sealers (AH Plus, Adseal, MTA-Fillapex, RoekoSeal, GuttaFlow 2, GuttaFlow BioSeal, and EndoRez) exposed to high-temperature changes using an endodontic obturation device. METHODS The thermal properties were examined using scanning calorimetry (DSC) and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA). Then, six disc-shaped specimens of each sealer were prepared and divided into two groups - a room temperature group and a heat exposure group - for analysis of surface and chemical changes using scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS). RESULTS DSC analysis showed that AH Plus had the highest exothermal signal (122.9°C), while TGA analysis showed that MTA-Fillapex was most affected by increased temperature (32.4% mass loss at 230ºC). SEM analysis showed that while AH Plus and GuttaFlow BioSeal maintained their surface integrity after heat exposure, the EDS profiles demonstrated changes in the chemical composition of the sealers after heat exposure for 5 s. High-temperature exposure had a negative impact on the properties of five of the sealers (Adseal, MTA-Fillapex, RoekoSeal, GuttaFlow 2, and EndoRez). CONCLUSION AH Plus and GuttaFlow BioSeal showed minimal changes upon high-temperature exposure, suggesting their suitability for thermal endodontic obturation techniques.

Abstract
Sealer staining using rhodamine B dye to investigate the penetration depth of endodontic sealers was proven unsuitable for this purpose. This study aimed to investigate the sealer penetration depth into dentinal tubules by scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Root canals of 52 human upper central incisors were instrumented using the ProTaper Gold NiTi system (Dentsply Sirona, York, PA, USA) up to size F3. After irrigation with sodium hypochlorite and citric acid combined with ultrasonic activation, the root canals were either filled using the epoxy resin sealer AH Plus (Dentsply Sirona) or the calcium silicate-based sealer Total Fill BC Sealer HiFlow (TFHF, FKG Dentaire, La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland) by warm vertical compaction. Root slices of 1 mm thickness were obtained at 2 to 3, 5 to 6 and 8 to 9 mm from the apex. The root slices were investigated for sealer penetration into the dentinal tubules using SEM according to four root quadrants (buccal, mesial, oral, distal). Statistical analysis was performed by the Kruskal-Wallis test (p = 0.05) as data were not normally distributed according to the Shapiro-Wilk test. AH Plus penetrated significantly deeper into the dentinal tubules compared to TFHF at each root level (p < 0.05). Dentinal sealer penetration was deeper in the bucco-oral direction compared to the mesio-distal direction. AH Plus penetrated deeper into dentinal tubules than TFHF. Warm vertical compaction exerting high pressure on the root canal filling material is not able to press sealers deep into dentinal tubules as penetration depth values did not exceed a mean of 110 µm in SEM.

Abstract
AIM To evaluate the influence of pH variation on the solubility and water sorption of a premixed calcium silicate-based root canal sealer (EndoSequence BC Sealer) compared to the gold standard based on epoxy resin (AH Plus Jet) after immersion in distilled water and phosphate-buffered saline (PBS). METHODOLOGY Solubility and water sorption were evaluated after immersion in distilled water or PBS at several pHs (5, 7 and 12) and the values were calculated as percentages of the original mass after 24 h, 7 and 30 days of immersion. The crystalline structures present in the sealers and surface precipitates were assessed by X-ray diffraction. The Shapiro-Wilk's test revealed that data were normally distributed; thus, statistical analysis was performed using one-way anova and Tukey's tests or independent t-test, assuming a 5% α-error. RESULTS EndoSequence BC Sealer was associated with significantly greater water sorption and solubility compared to AH Plus Jet in all tested conditions (P < 0.05). The acid environment increased the 24 h solubility of EndoSequence BC Sealer immersed in PBS (P < 0.05) and did not induce significative changes in the water sorption (P > 0.05). Alkaline pH reduced the solubility of EndoSequence BC Sealer and increased that of AH Plus Jet at all experimental times and soaking media (P < 0.05). Alkaline environment also significantly increased the water sorption of AH Plus Jet immersed in PBS (P < 0.05). Immersion in PBS significantly reduced the solubility of EndoSequence BC Sealer and significantly increased that of AH Plus Jet (P < 0.05). Precipitates on the surface of EndoSequence BC Sealer corresponding to hydroxyapatite and calcium carbonate were detected after immersion in PBS at pH 5 and 7 for 30 days. CONCLUSIONS EndoSequence BC Sealer had significantly greater solubility and water sorption than AH Plus Jet. Although the alkaline pH and soaking media directly influenced the solubility and water sorption of the sealers, the solubility of AH Plus Jet remained within the limits recommended by ISO 6876, whilst the solubility of the EndoSequence BC Sealer did not comply with ISO recommendations in all the conditions tested.

Abstract
Objectives This study aimed to evaluate dentinal tubule penetration and the retreatability of EndoSequence BC Sealer HiFlow (HiFlow), iRoot SP, and AH Plus when using the single-cone (SC) or continuous wave condensation (CWC) technique. Materials and methods Sixty-five single-rooted teeth were instrumented and randomly divided into 5 groups: group 1, AH Plus/CWC; group 2, iRoot SP/CWC; group 3, iRoot SP/SC; group 4, HiFlow/CWC; and group 5, HiFlow/SC. The ability to re-establish patency during endodontic retreatment was recorded, as was the time taken to reach the working length. Dentinal tubule penetration and remaining debris after retreatment were evaluated by confocal microscopy and scanning electron microscopy. Data were analyzed by Kruskal-Wallis test and Dunn’s multiple comparisons test (α = 0.05). Results The HiFlow/CWC and iRoot SP/CWC groups required more time to reach the working length than groups that underwent the SC technique regardless of the sealer used (P < .05). The HiFlow/CWC group showed a significantly higher percentage of sealer penetration area than that of the iRoot SP/SC at 4 mm from the apex (P < .05) and penetrated deeper into dentinal tubules than iRoot SP/SC at both 8-mm and 12-mm levels (P < .05). Moreover, the HiFlow/CWC and HiFlow/SC groups demonstrated less remaining sealer along the canal wall than AH Plus/CWC group at 4-mm level (P < .05). Conclusions HiFlow/CWC technique showed better performance in dentinal tubule penetration than that of iRoot SP/SC. Both HiFlow and iRoot SP combined with CWC technique groups required more retreatment time than the other groups. Furthermore, using HiFlow with either the CWC or SC technique left less remaining sealer at 4-mm level than using AH Plus with the CWC technique during retreatment. Clinical relevance With favorable performance in dentinal tubule penetration and retreatability in endodontic retreatment, the combined use of EndoSequence BC Sealer HiFlow with the recommended continuous wave condensation technique may be a worthwhile choice in root canal treatment.

Abstract
The aim of this study was to gain information about the effect of thermal treatment of calcium silicate-based sealers. BioRoot RCS (BR), Total Fill BC Sealer (TFBC), and Total Fill BC Sealer HiFlow (TFHF) were exposed to thermal treatment at 37 °C, 47 °C, 57 °C, 67 °C, 77 °C, 87 °C and 97 °C for 30 s. Heat treatment at 97 °C was performed for 60 and 180 s to simulate inappropriate application of warm obturation techniques. Thereafter, specimens were cooled to 37 °C and physical properties (setting time/flow/film thickness according to ISO 6876) were evaluated. Chemical properties (Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy) were assessed after incubation of the specimens in an incubator at 37 °C and 100% humidity for 8 weeks. Statistical analysis of physical properties was performed using the Kruskal-Wallis-Test (P = 0.05). The setting time, flow, and film thickness of TFBC and TFHF were not relevantly influenced by thermal treatment. Setting time of BR decreased slightly when temperature of heat application increased from 37 °C to 77 °C (P < 0.05). Further heat treatment of BR above 77 °C led to an immediate setting. FT-IR spectroscopy did not reveal any chemical changes for either sealers. Thermal treatment did not lead to any substantial chemical changes at all temperature levels, while physical properties of BR were compromised by heating. TFBC and TFHF can be considered suitable for warm obturation techniques.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To determine the effect of heat application on the setting and chemical properties of HiFlow BC Sealer and compare to other calcium silicate (CSBS) and epoxy resin-based root canal sealers. MATERIALS AND METHODS AH Plus, BioRoot RCS (BioRoot), Endosequence BC (Endosequence), and HiFlow BC (HiFlow) sealers were placed at 37 °C or subjected to heat at 200 °C for 10 or 30 s, followed by incubation at 37 °C in a humidified incubator during experiments. Setting time, viscosity, and flow were assessed, and changes in chemical structure were evaluated using the Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR). Thermogravimetric analysis was also used to evaluate the weight change (%) of the sealers upon heating from room temperature to 37 °C or 200 °C at a rate of 20 °C/min. Data were analyzed using a two-way ANOVA with a Bonferroni post-hoc test (p = 0.05). RESULTS Application of heat extended the setting time for Endosequence and HiFlow but resulted in a faster setting of AH Plus and BioRoot. The highest flow and lower viscosity were observed in HiFlow at high temperature (p < 0.05), whereas the lowest flow with the highest viscosity and greatest weight loss were observed in BioRoot after heat application (p < 0.05). FTIR spectra demonstrated no changes to functional groups after heat application, except for the strong H-O-H absorption peak corresponding to water in BioRoot. CONCLUSIONS Endosequence and HiFlow showed similar chemical properties with a higher flow and lower viscosity in HiFlow after heat application. Heat application resulted in reduced flow, increased viscosity, and weight loss for BioRoot. The setting of AH Plus was fastened with heat, while its weight loss, viscosity, and flow characteristics were stable. CLINICAL RELEVANCE HiFlow, Endosequence, and AH Plus can be all used with WVC obturation techniques. Heat application resulted in minor changes in their physical properties including setting time, flow, weight loss, and chemical properties, while BioRoot showed a significant amount of weight loss, increase in viscosity, and reduced flowability after heat application.
