Abstract
Fresh-cut vegetables are a food product susceptible to contamination by foreign materials (FMs). To detect a range of potential FMs in fresh-cut vegetables, a dual imaging technique (fluorescence and color imaging) with a simple and effective image processing algorithm in a user-friendly software interface was developed for a real-time inspection system. The inspection system consisted of feeding and sensing units, including two cameras positioned in parallel, illuminations (white LED and UV light), and a conveyor unit. A camera equipped with a long-pass filter was used to collect fluorescence images. Another camera collected color images of fresh-cut vegetables and FMs. The feeding unit fed FMs mixed with fresh-cut vegetables onto a conveyor belt. Two cameras synchronized programmatically in the software interface simultaneously collected fluorescence and color image samples based on the region of interest as they moved through the conveyor belt. Using simple image processing algorithms, FMs could be detected and depicted in two different image windows. The results demonstrated that the dual imaging technique can effectively detect potential FMs in two types of fresh-cut vegetables (cabbage and green onion), as indicated by the combined fluorescence and color imaging accuracy. The test results showed that the real-time inspection system could detect FMs measuring 0.5 mm in fresh-cut vegetables. The results showed that the combined detection accuracy of FMs in the cabbage (95.77%) sample was superior to that of green onion samples (87.89%). Therefore, the inspection system was more effective at detecting FMs in cabbage samples than in green onion samples.

Abstract
Foreign body ingestion and its natural elimination are common in children. However, this is uncommon for long foreign bodies. Here, we report the spontaneous removal of an ingested pencil in an asymptomatic child. To our knowledge, this is the first case report of asymptomatic spontaneous elimination of a normally-sized ingested pencil. A 7-year-old male child presented with a history of ingestion of a pencil 4 hours back, without any complaints. Immediate abdominal radiography revealed a pencil in the stomach with an estimated length of approximately 10 cm and no signs of complications. He was conservatively treated under a semi-solid diet, presumably due to lack of available endoscopic option. Subsequently, he passed the pencil in stool within 24 hours of ingestion. He was asymptomatic and playful during the course and at discharge. Conservative management of a quickly moving long foreign body initially located below the esophagus in an asymptomatic child is possible with the help of imaging guidance, particularly in settings lacking an endoscopy. Although, this should not be considered a norm. However, this suggests that the treatment of ingested foreign bodies must be individualized. Thus, multiple factors related to the child and the foreign body must be assessed before committing to invasive procedures like laparotomy. Similarly, plain X-rays can be helpful even for radiolucent foreign bodies, for diagnosis and ruling out complications. All of these are vital in underdeveloped countries, where endoscopy and computed tomography facilities might be either lacking or unaffordable by patients.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Ocular foreign bodies (OFBs) are a relatively common occurrence in ocular injuries, and a severe risk factor for vision disorders. They are notoriously challenging to identify and localize precisely to allow surgical removal, even with the most recent technological advancements. PURPOSE To compare the efficiency of different imaging methods in detecting and localizing OFBs. METHODS We conducted a retrospective analysis of the medical records of patients with OFBs, detected by ultrasound biomicroscopy (UBM) and confirmed during surgery. Patients who presented to our medical center between January 2016 and January 2022 and also underwent computed tomography (CT), X ray, and/or ocular B-scan ultrasonography (B-scans) were selected. RESULTS This study included 134 patients with a history of ocular trauma and OFBs (mean age: 47.25 years, range: 8-78). The mean time interval from injury to UBM examination was 36.31 months (range: 0.2-120 months). Most OFBs were metallic (51.82%) or plant-based (25.37%); 22.39% of them were located in the sclera, 26.87% in the anterior chamber, and 23.88% in the ciliary body and iris. OFBs ranged in size from 0.10 to 6.67 mm (mean: 1.15 ± 1.10 mm). B-scans identified OFBs in 37 of the 119 patients examined (31.09%); CT in 52 of 84 patients (61.90%); and radiography in 29 of 50 patients (58.00%). Univariate and multivariate analyses determined that both CT and radiography showed low detection rates for plant-based versus non-plant-based OFBs (CT: p < 0.001; radiography: p = 0.007), small particles (<1.00 mm vs. >1.00 mm; CT: p = 0.001, radiography: p = 0.024), and with eyeball wall locations (vs. intraocular; CT: p < 0.001, radiography: p = 0.021). Similarly, B-scans were less efficient for plant-based and eyeball wall-located OFBs (both p = 0.001), whereas the difference based on dimensions was not significant (p = 0.118). CONCLUSIONS CT, radiography, and B-scans showed lower detection rates for plant-based, small, and eyeball wall-located OFBs. Our findings strongly suggest that UBM could be a more adequate imaging modality when such OFBs are suspected.

Abstract
BACKGROUND The injection of illicit, non-regulated foreign materials may trigger an autoimmune autoinflammatory syndrome induced by adjuvants (ASIA). METHODS A retrospective review of health records was performed to identify patients' epidemiological and clinical characteristics. The issues analyzed were age and gender of cases, occupation, the person who administered the substance, anatomical site, type and volume of the injected substance, time from injection to the onset of symptoms, chief complaint, measures taken to alleviate symptoms, local complications, systemic manifestations, and imaging method to aid in diagnosis. RESULTS More than 70% of patients were female and dedicated to household activities; the mean age was 44 years for females and 40.7 years for males. One-quarter of patients reported some comorbidity. The most commonly reported substance was mineral oil, whereas the most frequent anatomical site was the gluteal region with volumes around one liter. Signs and symptoms occurred almost exclusively at a local level, pain (40%) and swelling (18%) being the predominant manifestations with a peak incidence after three years. Treatment was mainly medical; surgery, primarily en bloc resection, was performed in 20% of patients. CONCLUSIONS A myriad of substances may induce autoimmune autoinflammatory syndrome induced by adjuvants (ASIA) when injected for cosmetic purposes. Since effective treatments are scarce, public policies should be enforced to alert the community and limit the consequences of this healthcare problem. Abstract
BACKGROUND The injection of illicit, nonregulated foreign materials is increasingly common and has negative consequences relative to the inflammatory process that ensues. OBJECTIVES The aim of this study was to identify anatomical and imaging characteristics after the cosmetic injection of illicit foreign materials. METHODS A retrospective review of clinical and imaging records was performed. The issues analyzed were the anatomical site, type of injected substance, imaging method for diagnosis, and patterns of migration. RESULTS Data on 413 patients were collected. Most patients were female, with a mean age of 44 years. The most commonly infiltrated region was the buttocks (n = 284; 53.58%) followed by the breast (n = 99; 18.67%). Magnetic resonance imaging was the most common method of diagnosis in those patients who had an imaging study (159 out of 168). The most frequent depth of foreign material detected by imaging was the muscular plane (n = 103; 61.30%). Migration was detected in 56.55% of patients who had an imaging study. Most infiltrated substances were unknown; biopolymers were the most commonly identified substances. Depending on the type of substance, migration rates varied from 13% to 29%; rate differences were not statistically significant (P = .712). Migration was more common when the depth of infiltration was in muscle (77.66%) than in subcutaneous tissue (23.4%); this difference was statistically significant (P < .0001). CONCLUSIONS Deep infiltration is related to greater migration rates, apparently regardless of the substance injected. LEVEL OF EVIDENCE: 3

Abstract
Introduction and importance Foreign body ingestion leading to luminal obstruction in both the small and large bowels is rare, especially in children. The authors present a case of a 7-year-old patient who presented with a small bowel obstruction caused by an ingested radiolucent foreign body. The previous herniotomy surgery 1 year back led to initial diagnostic confusion, highlighting the need for a broad differential diagnosis. Case presentation A 7-year-old child with a history of herniotomy presented with symptoms of small bowel obstruction. Radiological imaging revealed a soft tissue mass mimicking a polyp or cystic lesion. During exploratory laparotomy, a cystic structure was discovered in the terminal ileum. The foreign body, identified as a fluid-filled balloon, was inaccessible to endoscopy and was gently maneuvered into the ascending colon. It was punctured and removed during on-table colonoscopy. Clinical discussion This case underscores the challenges of diagnosing and managing luminal obstruction caused by radiolucent foreign bodies in children. The presence of previous surgery can mislead clinicians, necessitating a broad differential diagnosis. Radiological imaging played a crucial role in identifying the foreign body. Surgical intervention guided by an on-table colonoscopy allowed successful removal. Conclusion Foreign body ingestion leading to luminal obstruction should be considered, even in cases with previous abdominal surgery. Radiological imaging aids in identification, and timely surgical intervention, guided by on-table colonoscopy, facilitates foreign body removal. Awareness of such cases is essential for optimal care in pediatric patients with luminal obstruction caused by foreign body ingestion.

Abstract
Analogous density foreign matter (ADFM) embedded in soy protein meat semi-finished (SFSPM) is hidden by SFSPM and has similar acoustic impedance features to SFSPM, which makes non-destructive testing techniques such as computer vision (CV), reflectance spectroscopy and ultrasound imaging inappropriate for ADFM, which not only seriously affects the quality of soy protein meat (SPM) products but also increases the safety risk to consumers. In this study, to locate and separate ADFM by using transmission hyperspectral imaging (T-HSI) technique which is sensitive to chemical composition and highlight internal contours. The optimal discrimination model SVM + PCA + MSC + SPA was constructed using transmission spectral information with an accuracy of 95.00 %. The visualization results based on the optimal model showed clearer localization results than CV and ultrasound imaging. The study demonstrated that the advantages of T-HSI technology in detecting and locating ADFM inside SFSPM, which provides a basis for improving the production quality and safety of SPM.
