Abstract
The preparation of a dual immunosensor for the simultaneous determination of two important microbiome-related oral disease biomarker matrix metalloproteinases MMP-9 and MMP-13 is reported. Screen-printed dual carbon electrodes (SPdCEs) modified with reduced graphene oxide and crystalline nanocellulose (rGO/CNC) were used for the immobilization of specific capture antibodies and the implementation of sandwich-type immunoassays using biotinylated secondary antibodies. Amperometric detection through the hydroquinone HQ/H2O2 system was employed. The limits of detection (LOD) achieved were 0.25 and 0.30 ng mL-1 for MMP-9 and MMP-13, respectively. The developed immunosensor proved to be useful for the determination of both MMPs in saliva from healthy individuals and patients of periodontitis as well as in serum from patients diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). The obtained results agreed with those provided by commercial ELISA kits, and the developed dual immunosensor proved to be competitive versus this methodology, requiring less than 2 h for the simultaneous determination of both biomarkers.

Abstract
The human population is generally subjected to diverse pollutants and contaminants in the environment like those in the air, soil, foodstuffs, and drinking water. Therefore, the development of novel purification techniques and efficient detection devices for pollutants is an important challenge. To date, experts in the field have designed distinctive analytical procedures for the detection of pollutants including gas chromatography/mass spectrometry and atomic absorption spectroscopy. While the mentioned procedures enjoy high sensitivity, they suffer from being laborious, expensive, require advanced skills for operation, and are inconvenient to deploy as a result of their massive size. Therefore, in response to the above-mentioned limitations, electrochemical sensors are being developed that enjoy robustness, selectivity, sensitivity, and real-time measurements. Considerable advancements in nanomaterials-based electrochemical sensor platforms have helped to generate new technologies to ensure environmental and human safety. Recently, investigators have expanded considerable effort to utilize polymer nanocomposites for building the electrochemical sensors in view of their promising features such as very good electrocatalytic activities, higher electrical conductivity, and effective surface area in comparison to the traditional polymers. Herein, the first section of this review briefly discusses the most important methods for polymer nanocomposites synthesis, such as in situ polymerization, direct mixing of polymer and nanofillers (melt-mixing and solution-mixing), sol-gel, and electrochemical methods. It then summarizes the current utilization of polymer nanocomposites for the preparation of electrochemical sensors as a novel approach for monitoring and detecting environmental pollutants which include heavy metal ions, pesticides, phenolic compounds, nitroaromatic compounds, nitrite, and hydrazine in different mediums. Finally, the current challenges and future directions for the polymer nanocomposites-based electrochemical sensing of environmental pollutants are outlined.

Abstract
This work describes a voltammetric and ultrasensitive aptasensor for sulfadimethoxine (SDM). It is based on signal amplification by making use of a multifunctional fullerene-doped reduced graphene oxide nanohybrid. The nanohybrid was coated with poly(diallyldimethylammonium chloride) to obtain a material (P-C60-rGO) with large specific surface area and a unique adsorption ability for loading it with glucose oxidase (GOx). The coating also facilitates the direct electron transfer between the active site of GOx and the glassy carbon electrode (GCE). The P-C60-rGO were then modified with Pt@Au nanoparticles, and the thiolated SDM-binding aptamer was immobilized on the nanoparticles. On exposure of the modified GCE to a solution containing SDM, it binds to the aptamer. The results were recorded through the signal responses generated from the redox center of GOx (FAD/FADH2) by cyclic voltammetry at a scan rate of 100 mV·s-1 from -0.25 to -0.65 V. Accordingly, The sensor has good specificity and stability, and response is linear in the 10 fg·mL-1 to 50 ng·mL-1 SDM concentration range with a detection limit of 8.7 fg·mL-1. Graphical abstract Schematic presentation of an electrochemical aptasensor for sulfadimethoxine (SDM) using multifunctional fullerene-doped graphene (C60-rGO) nanohybrids for amplification. The limit of detection for SDM is as low as 8.7 fg·mL-1.

Abstract
Plasmonic nanoparticles (NPs) such as silver and gold have fascinating optical properties due to their enhanced optical sensitivity at a wavelength corresponding to their surface plasmon resonance (SPR) absorption. Present work deals with the fabrication of silver nanoparticles decorated cotton (SNDC) fibers as a cheap and efficient point of contact disinfectant. SNDC fibers were fabricated by a simple microwave assisted route. The microwave power and irradiation time were controlled to optimize size and density of silver nanoparticles (SNPs) on textile fibers. As prepared cotton fabric was characterized for ATR-FTIR, UV-VIS diffuse reflectance, SEM and TEM investigations. Size of SNPs as well as total density of silver atoms on fabric gets increased with the increase of microwave power from 100 W to 600 W. The antibacterial efficacy of SNPs extracted from SNDC fibers was found to be more effective against Gram-negative bacteria than Gram-positive bacteria with MIC 38.5 ± 0.93 μg/mL against Salmonella typhimurium MTCC-98 and 125 ± 2.12 μg/mL against Staphylococcus aureus MTCC-737, a linear correlation coefficient with R2 ranging from ∼0.928–0.935 was also observed. About >50% death cells were observed through Propidium Iodide (PI) internalization after treatment of SNPs extracted from SNDC fibers with concentration 31.25 μg/mL. Generation of ROS and free radical has also been observed which leads to cell death. Excellent Escherichia coli deactivation efficacy suggested that SNDC fibers could be used as potentially safe disinfectants for cleaning of medical equipment, hand, wound, water and preservation of food and beverages.

Abstract
In this work, we report a novel Au-Pt bimetallic nanoparticles (Au-PtNPs) decorated on the surface of nitrogen-doped graphene (NG) functionalized with 1, 3, 6, 8-pyrene tetra sulfonic acid sodium salt (PyTS) by direct electrodeposition method. The results of scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS) and electrochemical impendence spectrum (EIS) reveal that the Au-PtNPs were successfully anchored on the surface of NG sheets with a diameter of 20-40nm. Further, the prepared Au-PtNPs/PyTS-NG nanocomposite exhibits superior catalytic activity for the oxidation of nitrite. Under optimal experimental conditions, an amperometric sensor with a linear range of 0.5-1621μM and a detection limit of 0.19μM (S/N=3) for the detection of nitrite was set up and applied to real samples.

Abstract
A flexible and free-standing graphene-based hybrid paper was successfully fabricated by successive applications of vacuum filtration and electropolymerization. First, a suspension including graphene oxide (GO) and silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) was prepared, and GO/AgNPs paper was obtained by vacuum-filtration of this suspension through a membrane. This GO/AgNPs paper was transformed to rGO/AgNPs paper by using both chemical reduction with HI and thermal annealing procedures. rGO/AgNPs/poly(PyY) hybrid paper electrode was formed by electropolymerization of Pyronin Y (PyY) on rGO/AgNPs paper electrode from a PyY monomer-containing (pH 1.0) solution. Structural, chemical, and morphological characterization of this hybrid paper was carried out by scanning electron microscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, Raman spectroscopy, infrared spectroscopy, UV-vis absorption spectroscopy, four-point probe conductivity measurement, and cyclic voltammetry techniques. Electrooxidation of nitrite on rGO/AgNPs/poly(PyY) hybrid paper electrode has been achieved at 860 mV with a linear range of 0.1-1000 μM, sensitivity of 13.5 μAμM(-1)cm(-2), and a detection limit of 0.012 μM. Amperometry studies have shown that the hybrid paper electrode is suitable for amperometric determination of nitrite in both standard laboratory samples and real samples. Moreover, this paper electrode selectively detects nitrite even in the presence of 100-fold common ions and exhibits an excellent operational stability and good flexibility.
