Abstract
In this work, a novel high entropy hydroxide NiCoMoMnZn-layered double hydroxide(LDH) is synthesized as an electrode material for supercapacitors using a novel template re-etching method to promote the energy density. As a positive electrode material for supercapacitors, NiCoMoMnZn-LDH has the advantage of a uniform distribution of elements, high specific surface area, porous and stable structure. More importantly, the specific capacitance can reach 1810.2 F g-1 at the current density of 0.5 A g-1, and the NiCoMoMnZn-LDH//AC HSC assembled from the material has an energy density of up to 62.1 Wh kg-1 at a power density of 475 W kg-1. Moreover, the influence of different compositions on their morphological, structural, and electrochemical properties is investigated based on the characterization results. Then, the synergistic mechanism among the components of the high entropy NiCoMoMnZn-LDH is revealed in detail by DFT calculations. In addition, the synthesis strategy proposed in this work for high-entropy hydroxides exhibits universality. Experimental results show that the proposed strategy successfully avoids not only phase separation and element aggregation in the formation of high entropy materials, but also reduces structural distortion, which is beneficial for efficient and large-scale synthesis of high entropy hydroxides.

Abstract
Synthesis of NiHCCo precursors via simple co-precipitation and nickel-cobalt tetraselenide composites grown on nitrogen-doped reduced graphene oxide (NiCoSe4/N-rGO) were fabricated using solvothermal method. The introduction of N-rGO used as a template effectively prevented agglomeration of NiCoSe4nanoparticles and provided more active sites, which greatly increased the electrochemical and electrical conductivity for NiCoSe4/N-rGO. NiCoSe4/N-rGO-20 presents a remarkably elevated specific capacity of 120 mA h g-1under current density of 1 A g-1. NiCoSe4/N-rGO-20 demonstrates an excellent cycle life and achieves a remarkable 83% retention rate over 3000 cycles with 10 A g-1. NiCoSe4/N-rGO-20//N-rGO asymmetric supercapacitor was constructed based on the NiCoSe4/N-rGO-20 as an anode, N-rGO as cathode by using 2 mol l-1KOH as an electrolyte. NiCoSe4/N-rGO-20//N-rGO ASC demonstrates an ultra-big energy density of 14 Wh kg-1and good circulation stability in the power density of 902 W kg-1. It is doubled in comparison to the NiCoSe4/N-rGO-20//rGO asymmetric supercapacitor (7 Wh kg-1). The NiCoSe4/N-rGO-20//N-rGO ASC capacity retention is still up to 93% over 5000 cycles (5 A g-1). The results reveal that this device would be a prospective cathode material of supercapacitors in actual applications.

Abstract
Recently, prussian blue analogues (PBAs), as the most classical class of metal-organic frameworks, have been widely studied by scientists. Nevertheless, the inferior conductivity of PBAs restricts the application in supercapacitors. In this work, nickel cobalt hexacyanoferrate (Ni2CoHCF) had been produced via a simple co-precipitation approach and coated with polypyrrole on its surface. The conductivity of PBAs was improved by the polypyrrole coating. The Ni2CoHCF@PPy-400 microspheres were demonstrated to the outstanding specific capacity of 82 mAh g-1at 1 A g-1. After 3000 cycles, the Ni2CoHCF@PPy-400 microspheres had a long cycle life and 86% specific capacity retention rate at 5 A g-1. Additionally, it was coupled with activated carbon to build high performance asymmetric supercapacitor (Ni2CoHCF@PPy-400//AC), which displayed a high energy density of 21.7 Wh kg-1at the power density of 888 W kg-1and good cycle stability after 5000 cycles (a capacity retention rate of 85.2%). What is more, the results reveal that the Ni2CoHCF@PPy-400 microspheresare a prospective candidate for exceptional energy storage devices.

Abstract
Flexible porous carbon nanofibers containing nickel nanoparticles were synthesized by direct carbonization of electrospun Ni-MOFs/polyacrylonitrile fibers. The as-synthesized composite nanofibers were employed as binder-free electrodes, and exhibit high specific capacitance (up 672 F g-1 at current density of 2 A g-1) and superior rate capability (57% capacitance retention from current density of 2-10 A g-1), which may be attributed to their binder-free nature, unique one-dimensional (1D) structure and highly dispersed electrochemically active nickel nanoparticles. Furthermore, a symmetric supercapacitor was assembled using the fiber electrodes in 6 M KOH, and the energy density of 17.8 Wh kg-1 was achieved in a potential window of 1.5 V. This self-standing fiber with abundant mesopores and macropores is expected to become a promising electrode material for high-performance supercapacitors.

Abstract
Three-dimensional (3D) graphene-based hydrogels have attracted great interest for applying in supercapcacitors electrodes, owing to their intriguing properties that combine the structural interconnectivities and the outstanding properties of graphene. However, the pristine graphene hydrogel can not satisfy the high-performance demands, especial in high specific capacitance. Consequently, novel graphene-based composite hydrogels with increased electrochemical properties have been developed. In this mini review, a brief summary of recent progress in the research of the three-dimensional graphene-based composite hydrogel for flexible supercapacitors electrodes materials is presented. The latest progress in the graphene-based composite hydrogel consisting of graphene/metal, graphene/polymer, and atoms doped graphene is discussed. Furthermore, future perspectives and challenges in graphene-based composite hydrogel for supercapacitor electrodes are also expressed.

Abstract
Layered metal hydroxides are promising materials for electrochemical energy conversion and storage. Generally, compared with layered monometallic hydroxides, layered bimetallic hydroxides have more excellent electrochemical performance due to abundant redox reactions. Unfortunately, layered bimetallic hydroxides cannot be usually achieved through coprecipitation and/or homogeneous precipitation. Herein, we demonstrate that layered Co-Mn hydroxide nanocones (NCs) can be successfully fabricated via post-synthesis isomorphous substitution under mild conditions. In particular, the specific capacity and cycling stability of layered Co-Mn hydroxide NCs are remarkably enhanced in comparison with those of layered Co hydroxide NCs. Furthermore, the resulting layered Co-Mn hydroxide NCs and graphene oxide (GO) composite (GO/Co-Mn NCs) exhibits a high specific capacity of 677 C g-1 at 3 A g-1 and an excellent capacity retention of 95% after 2000 cycles. Asymmetric supercapacitor cells employing GO/Co-Mn NCs as the positive electrode and activated carbon (AC) as the negative electrode can achieve a high specific capacity of 189 C g-1 at 3 A g-1. This method provides a viable protocol for constructing efficient electrodes of layered bimetallic hydroxides for sustainable electrochemical energy storage.

Abstract
Construction of electrochemically stable positive materials is still a key challenge to accomplish high rate performance and long cycling life of asymmetric supercapacitors (ASCs). Herein, a novel cobalt–zinc mixed oxide/hydroxide (CoZn-MOH) hierarchical porous film electrode was facilely fabricated based on a cobalt–zinc-based metal–organic framework for excellent utilization in ASC. The as-constructed hierarchical porous film supported on conductive Ni foam possesses a rough surface and abundant macropores and mesopores, which allow fast electron transport, better exposure of electrochemically active sites, and facile electrolyte access and ion diffusion. Owing to these structural merits in collaboration, the CoZn-MOH electrode prepared with a zinc feeding ratio up to 45% at 110 min of heating time (CoZn-MOH-45-110) exhibited a high specific capacitance of 380.4 F·g−1, remarkable rate capability (83.6% retention after 20-fold current increase), and outstanding cycling performances (96.5% retention after 10,000 cycles), which exceed the performances of similar active electrodes. Moreover, an ASC based on this CoZn-MOH-45-110 electrode exhibited a high specific capacitance of 158.8 F·g−1, an impressive energy density of 45.8 Wh·kg−1, superior rate capability (83.1% retention after 50-fold current increase), and satisfactory cycling stability (87.9% capacitance retention after 12,000 cycles).

High-performance solid state supercapacitors assembling graphene interconnected networks in porous silicon electrode by electrochemical methods using 2,6-dihydroxynaphthalen. Sci Rep 2018; 8:9654. Abstract
The challenge for conformal modification of the ultra-high internal surface of nanoporous silicon was tackled by electrochemical polymerisation of 2,6-dihydroxynaphthalene using cyclic voltammetry or potentiometry and, notably, after the thermal treatment (800 °C, N2, 4 h) an assembly of interconnected networks of graphene strongly adhering to nanoporous silicon matrix resulted. Herein we demonstrate the achievement of an easy scalable technology for solid state supercapacitors on silicon, with excellent electrochemical properties. Accordingly, our symmetric supercapacitors (SSC) showed remarkable performance characteristics, comparable to many of the best high-power and/or high-energy carbon-based supercapacitors, their figures of merit matching under battery-like supercapacitor behaviour. Furthermore, the devices displayed high specific capacity values along with enhanced capacity retention even at ultra-high rates for voltage sweep, 5 V/s, or discharge current density, 100 A/g, respectively. The cycling stability tests performed at relatively high discharge current density of 10 A/g indicated good capacity retention, with a superior performance demonstrated for the electrodes obtained under cyclic voltammetry approach, which may be ascribed on the one hand to a better coverage of the porous silicon substrate and, on the other hand, to an improved resilience of the hybrid electrode to pore clogging.
