Abstract
Surface microstructure modification of metal oxides also improves the electrochemical performance of metal oxide nanoparticles. The present investigation demonstrates how varying the urea molar content during the hydrothermal process altered the surfaces of MnCo2O4 nanoparticles. Successive increases of 0.1 M in urea concentration transformed the surface shape of MnCo2O4 nanoparticles from flower-like to sheet-like microstructures. Excellent electrochemical performance of MnCo2O4 nanoparticles was demonstrated in an aqueous 1 M KOH electrolyte. The improved MnCo2O4 nanoparticles have been employed to develop an asymmetric supercapacitor (ASC). The ASC device exhibits an energy density of 13 Wh/kg at a power density of 553 W/kg and a specific capacitance of 29 F g-1 at a current density of 4 mA/cm2. The MnCo2O4 nanoparticle electrode demonstrates remarkable electrocatalytic activity in both HER and OER. The MnCo2O4 electrode shows overpotential for HER and OER at 356 mV and 1.46 V, respectively. The Tafel slopes for HER and OER of the MnCo2O4 electrode are 356 mV/dec and 187 mV/dec, respectively.

Abstract
This study reports the facile synthesis of rationally designed composite materials consisting of nitrogen-doped graphene quantum dots (N-GQDs) and MnCO3/ZnMn2O4 (N/MC/ZM) on Ni foam using a simple hydrothermal method to produce high-performance supercapacitor applications. The N/MC/ZM composite was uniformly synthesized on a Ni foam surface with the hierarchical structure of microparticles and nanosheets, and the uniform deposition of N-GQDs on a MC/ZM surface was observed. The incorporation of N-GQDs with MC/ZM provides good conductivity, charge transfer, and electrolyte diffusion for a better electrochemical performance. The N/MC/ZM composite electrode delivered a high specific capacitance of 960.6 F·g-1 at 1 A·g-1, low internal resistance, and remarkable cycling stability over 10,000 charge-discharge cycles. Additionally, an all-flexible solid-state asymmetric supercapacitor (ASC) device was fabricated using the N/MC/ZM composite electrode. The fabricated ASC device produced a maximum energy density of 58.4 Wh·kg-1 at a power density of 800 W·kg-1 and showed a stable capacitive performance while being bent, with good mechanical stability. These results provide a promising and effective strategy for developing supercapacitor electrodes with a high areal capacitance and high energy density.

Abstract
This study is focused on the preparation of the CuS/RGO nanocomposite via the hydrothermal method using GO and Cu-DTO complex as precursors. X-ray diffraction, Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy, and Raman and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy study revealed the formation of the CuS/RGO nanocomposite with improved crystallinity, defective nanostructure, and the presence of the residual functional group in the RGO sheet. The morphological study displayed the transformation of CuS from nanowire to quantum dots with the incorporation of RGO. The galvanostatic charge/discharge curve showed that the CuS/RGO nanocomposite (12 wt % Cu-DTO complex) has tremendous and outperforming specific capacitance of 3058 F g-1 at 1 A g-1 current density with moderate cycling stability (∼60.3% after 1000 cycles at 10 A g-1). The as-prepared nanocomposite revealed excellent improvement in specific capacitance, cycling stability, Warburg impedance, and interfacial charge transfer resistance compared to neat CuS. The fabricated nanocomposites were also investigated for their bulk DC electrical conductivity and EMI shielding ability. It was observed that the CuS/RGO nanocomposite (9 wt % Cu-DTO) exhibited a total electromagnetic shielding efficiency of 64 dB at 2.3 GHz following absorption as a dominant shielding mechanism. Such a performance is ascribed to the presence of interconnected networks and synergistic effects.

Abstract
The microflower-like Si/MoS2 composites were fabricated using Si quantum dots (QDs) to assist a facile hydrothermal method. The electrochemical performance of Si/MoS2 composite in symmetric and asymmetric systems was studied. Electrochemical characterization revealed that the Si/MoS2 composite electrode in a three-electrode system has a high specific capacitance of 574.4 F·g−1 at 5 A·g−1. Furthermore, the Si/MoS2 composite electrode in a two-electrode system had the maximum energy density of 27.2 Wh·kg−1 when a power density of 749.1 W·kg−1 was achieved. Therefore, this investigation proves the Si/MoS2 composite microflower-like structure should be a promising candidate electrode material for supercapacitors.

Abstract
The main deficit of quantum dot/dye-sensitised solar cells (QDSSCs) remains the absence of a photosensitiser that can absorb the entire visible spectrum and increase electrocatalytic activity by enhancing the conversion efficiency of QDSSCs. This placed great emphasis on the synthesis route adopted for the preparation of the sensitiser. Herein, we report the fabrication of hexagonal copper monosulfide (CuS) nanocrystals, both hexadecylamine (HDA) capped and uncapped, through thermal decomposition by thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) and a single-source precursor route. Morphological, structural, and electrochemical instruments were used to assert the properties of both materials. The CuS/HDA photosensitiser demonstrated an appropriate lifetime and electron transfer, while the electron back reaction of CuS lowered the electron lifetime in the QDSSCs. The higher electrocatalytic activity and interfacial resistance observed from current density-voltage (I–V) results agreed with electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) results for CuS/HDA. The successful fabrication of hexagonal CuS nanostructures of interesting conversion output suggested that both HDA capped and uncapped nanocrystals could be adopted in photovoltaic cells.

Abstract
Transition metal sulfides (TMS), as promising electroactive materials for asymmetric supercapacitors, have been limited due to their relatively poor conductivity and cycle stability. Here ternary Ni3S2/MnS/CuS composites were assembled in situ on nickel foam (NF) using a hydrothermal method via electrostatic adsorption of Ni+, Mn2+ and Cu2+ ions on a reduced graphene (rGO) nanosheet template. The chemical structure was characterized by various analytic methods. Ni3S2/MnS/CuS has spherical morphology assembled from closely packed nanosheets, while Ni3S2/MnS/CuS@rGO has a three-dimensional porous spherical structure with much lower diameter because rGO nanosheets can play the role of a template to induce the growth of Ni3S2/MnS/CuS. At a current density of 1 A g−1, the specific capacitance was obtained to be 1028 F g−1 for Ni3S2/MnS/CuS, 628.6 F g−1 for Ni3S2/MnS@rGO, and 2042 F g−1 for Ni3S2/MnS/CuS@rGO, respectively. Charge transfer resistance (Rct) of Ni3S2/MnS/CuS@rGO (0.001 Ω) was much lower than that of Ni3S2/MnS@rGO by 0.02 Ω, and lower than that of Ni3S2/MnS/CuS by 0.017 Ω. After 5000 cycles, the Ni3S2–MnS–CuS@RGO electrode maintains 78.3% of the initial capacity at 20 A g−1. An asymmetric supercapacitor was subsequently assembled using Ni3S2/MnS/CuS@rGO as the positive electrode and rGO as the negative electrode. The specific capacitance of asymmetric batteries was maintained at 90.8% of the initial state after 5000 GCD. Transition metal sulfides (TMS), as promising electroactive materials for asymmetric supercapacitors, have been limited due to their relatively poor conductivity and cycle stability.![]()
