Abstract
We investigated fourteen antibiotics, three illegal drugs, and two toxic elements in commercially available gastropods from southeast China. The data revealed high detection frequencies (DFs) for florfenicol (61.32%), florfenicol amine (47.33%), and thiamphenicol (39.88%), with maximum concentrations of 1110, 2222, and 136 μg/kg wet weight (ww), respectively. The DFs of illegal drugs were 3.54% for leucomalachite green and 0.3% for chloramphenicol. The average levels of Cd and As were 1.17 and 6.12 mg/kg ww, respectively. All chemicals presented diverse DFs in different sampling months. The highest DFs of florfenicol, florfenicol amine, and thiamphenicol were in July. The health risk assessment showed that targeted hazard quotients (THQs) of antibiotics, Cd, and As for children, teens, and adults were all less than one. Notably, the toxic elements (Cd and As) were identified as the primary health risk in gastropods, contributing to over 90% of the total THQs.

Abstract
As a group of antibiotics largely used in China's animal husbandry, fluoroquinolone (FQ) residues in honey may pose potential threats to human health. This study performed a five-year investigation on the occurrence of FQ residues in honey in 521 Apis mellifera and 160 Apis cerana honey samples collected from Zhejiang Province, China and compared FQ residue profiles in honey with a subgroup of various factors. Deterministic and probabilistic risk assessments of exposure to FQ residues in honey were further conducted. Overall, four FQs were detected in 6.9% (47/681) of analyzed samples; banned norfloxacin with the highest level (7890 μg·kg-1) and detection frequency (4.9%) was the primary safety risk factor associated with honeybees raised in China. FQ detection frequency and concentration of rape honey was highest among four of the largest and most stable honeys (rape, acacia, chaste, and linden) in China. Processed honey from commercial sale channels had a significantly higher detection frequency of FQ residues than raw honey from apiaries. Deterministic assessment showed that the noncarcinogenic hazard quotient (HQ) value of the dietary intake of FQs by the local population was between 4.75 × 10-6 and 1.18 × 10-3, less than 1.0, indicating that FQ residues in honey posed a low risk for consumers. The order of the HQ value was ciprofloxacin > norfloxacin > enrofloxacin > ofloxacin. Probabilistic assessment showed that at P95, the HQ of FQs for the age groups of children, adolescents, adults, and older adults over 65 years ranged from 2.39 × 10-5 to 0.217, less than 1, and the exposure risk for adults was higher than for children and adolescents. Sensitivity analysis showed that FQ concentrations were the major contributors to health risks. Although a low risk was found, a strict hive management is needed for beekeepers regarding troubles of food safety, international trade, and human bacterial resistance.

Abstract
The presence of melamine in food is one of the most significant threats to consumer health and food safety now confronting the communities. The goal of this systematic review and meta-analysis was to determine the melamine content of different food products available on the Iranian market. The pooled melamine concentration (95% confidence interval) on 484 samples of animal-based foodstuffs was as follows: 0.22 (0.08, 0.36 mg kg-1) for milk, 0.39 (0.25, 0.53 mg kg-1) for coffee mate, 1.45 (1.36, 1.54 mg kg-1) for dairy cream, 0.90 (0.50, 1.29 mg kg-1) for yoghurt, 1.25 (1.20, 1.29 mg kg-1) for cheese, 0.81 (-0.16, 1.78 mg kg-1) for hen eggs, 1.28 (1.25, 1.31 mg kg-1) for poultry meat, 0.58 (0.35, 0.80 mg kg-1) for chocolates, and 0.98 (0.18, 1.78 mg kg-1) for infant formula. Based on the results of health risk assessment study on toddlers under 2 years old who ingested infant formula (as a melamine-sensitive group), all groups of toddlers are at an acceptable level of non-carcinogenic risk (THQ ≤ 1). Toddlers were classified according to their ILCR (carcinogenic risk) levels due to infant formula consumption as follows: under 6 months (0.0000056), 6-12 months (0.0000077), 12-18 months (0.0000102), and 18-24 months (0.0000117). The melamine carcinogenicity in infant formula for children had an ILCR value of 0.000001-0.0001 in the investigation, which was considerable risk. According to the findings, Iranian food products (notably infant formula) should be analyzed for melamine contamination on a regular basis.

Abstract
Malachite green (MG), an antibiotic with antifungal activity, is illegally used in aquaculture. Given that this chemical is teratogenic and mutagenic, abstinence from intake seems to be a need for public safety. The goal of this systematic review and meta-analysis was to determine the global contamination of fishes by MG and its reduced metabolite, leucomalachite green (LMG), in a number of marine and farmed fish species. For literature published prior to January 2022, several databases (Web of Science, PubMed, and Scopus) were investigated. In total, 20 publications (10 countries, 724 samples) achieved the criteria for inclusion. The overall average MG and LMG concentrations were 0.48 (95% CI: 0.47, 0.49 µg kg-1) and 0.59 (95% CI: 0.39, 0.79 µg/kg-1), respectively. Eel (M. albus) 15.50 (95% CI: (14.39, 45.39 µg kg-1) and eel (A. anguilla) 4.46 (95% CI: 1.23, 7.69 µg kg-1) had the greatest contamination of MG and LMG, according to the effect size, respectively. Warm-water fish had a concentration of 2.591 (95% CI: 2.25, 2.93 µg kg-1) while cold-water fish had a concentration of 1.55 (95% CI: 0.25, 2.84 µg kg-1). Fish containing medium-fat level of 1.86 (95% CI: 1.27, 2.44 µg kg-1) and high-fat content of 1.10 (95% CI: 0.93, 1.26 µg kg-1) had accumulate MG and LMG in their tissues, respectively. As a result, total MG observed in countries including China, Iran, and the Netherlands was higher than authorized (2 µg kg-1). The toxicity of MG and LMG demands more monitoring, especially in countries where these chemicals' residues are significant.

Abstract
Malachite green (C52H54N4O12) is a synthetic dye that is used in textile industries as a colorant and in aquaculture sectors to contain microbial damage. Aquatic contamination of malachite green (MG) has been reported globally. Fish is the highest trophic organism among aquatic inhabitants, highly sensitive to waterborne contaminants (metals, coloring agents, etc.). Toxicity of waterborne chemicals on nontarget organisms can be determined by assessing biomarkers. Assessing blood parameters and tissue antioxidants (enzymatic and nonenzymatic) is useful to evaluate MG toxicity. To initiate the MG toxicity data for freshwater fish (Cyprinus carpio), the median lethal toxicity was primarily evaluated. Then, hematological, blood biochemical (glucose, protein, and cholesterol) and tissue biochemical (amino acids, lipids), and vital tissue (gills, liver, and kidney) antioxidant capacity (CAT, LPO, GST, GR, POxy, vitamin C, and GSH) of C. carpio were analyzed under acute (LC50-96 h) and sublethal (Treatment I-1/10th and Treatment II-1/5th LC50-96 h) exposure periods (28 days). Molecular docking for MG with hemoglobin was also obtained. Biomarkers examined were affected in the MG-treated groups with respect to the control group. Significant changes (p < 0.05) were observed in hematology (Hb, RBCs, and WBCs), glucose, proteins, lipids and tissue CAT, LPO, and GST activities under acute MG exposure. In sublethal treatment groups, biomarkers studied were significant (p < 0.05) throughout the study period. The potential for MG binding to hemoglobin was tested in this study. MG is potentially a multiorgan toxicant. Literally a chemical that is harmful to the aquatic environment if safety is concerned.

Abstract
Iran is recognized as one of the top olive producers globally, and it forms an integral part of the countries agriculture, particularly in Zanjan province. This study measured Hg, As, Pb, Cd, and Zn concentrations and evaluated probabilistic health risk in olive products. Results showed that Zn had the highest concentration (traditional and industrial table olive, Parvardeh, and olive oil: 4.912 ± 3.957 and 9.181 ± 6.385; 16.139 ± 6.986 and 18.330 ± 8.700; 41.385 ± 7.480 and 46.043 ± 15.773 μg g-1, respectively) compared to other potentially toxic elements (PTEs). Additionally, Cd in table olive (traditional: 0.137 ± 199 and industrial: 0.059 ± 0.041 μg g-1) and Parvardeh (traditional: 0.014 ± 0.009 and industrial: 0.019 ± 0.006 μg g-1), and As in olive oil (traditional: 0.025 ± 0.006 and industrial: 0.026 ± 0.009 μg g-1) had the lowest concentrations, respectively. As and Hg in table olive (0.224 ± 0.214 and 1.158 ± 0.974 μg g-1) and Hg in Parvardeh (0.210 ± 0.213 μg g-1) samples were significantly higher in traditional than industrial products (p < 0.05). Cd in Parvardeh (0.019 ± 0.006 μg g-1) and Zn in table olive (9.181 ± 6.385 μg g-1) samples were substantially more in industrial than traditional products (p < 0.05). Results suggest that industrially processed olive products are more likely to introduce higher levels of PTEs into the body. Nevertheless, based on the health risk assessment criteria, industrial products' hazard index (HI) values were lower than traditional types due to high Hg concentrations (HI = 0.01227 and 0.2708, respectively). Adults' total carcinogenic risk (TCR) in traditional olive products was higher than in industrial (sum TCR = 0.00016 and 0.00007, respectively). In conclusion, the results indicated that the consumption of olive products in the study area offered an increased non-carcinogenic and cancer risk to the population of this region owing to PTEs exposure, especially Hg.

Abstract
Risk assessment of heavy metals is critical in controlling and preventing risks of foodborne diseases. Fish can be used as bioindicators for exposure to potential toxic elements (PTEs), which can represent potential risks for humans. The long Iranian coastline and three major fishery regions in the country, including the northern (Caspian Sea) and southern (Persian Gulf and Gulf of Oman) seas as well as inland waters and aquacultures (rivers, dams, wetlands and fish farms) have made Iran a large producer of fish. In the first step of the present study, data collection and report of PTEs in fish from the three fishery regions (2010-2022) were carried out. In the second step, health risks were assessed using Monte Carlo simulation in child and adult consumers. The average concentrations of Cd, Hg and Pb for the northern sea, southern sea, and inland waters and aquacultures were 0.273, 0.249, 1.077; 0.430, 0.423, 1.182; and 1.387, 0.232, 1.703 μg/g per dry weight, respectively. Based on the target hazard quotient results, Hg intake of Iranian children from all the three fishery regions was more than 1, which was alarming. In the adult age group, southern sea fish consumers were at risk of Hg adverse health effects. Moreover, Cd included the highest carcinogenic risk of toxic elements in fish from the three fishery regions of Iran. Estimation of THQ, HI, ILCR and EDI revealed that consumption of fish might induce health complexities for the consumers in Iran. Moreover, Iranians from northern and southern regions of the country consumed further seafood due to the availability of high seafood sources in these regions. Hence, various indices must be used for the risk assessment of general human health. Due to the high risks of carcinogenicity/non-carcinogenicity estimated in the risk assessment, consumption of fish by infants and pregnant women must critically be assessed.

Abstract
Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) are organic pollutants containing several hydrocarbon rings affecting human health according to the published monitoring data. Most of these compounds can be absorbed by the soil and sediments due to the abundance of production resources of these compounds in the soil around the cities and sediments of the Iranian coast. Cancer risk assessment (CRA) is one of the most effective methods for quantifying the potentially harmful effects of PAHs on human health. In this study, the published papers that monitored PAHs in Iran's soil and sediments were reviewed. The extraction of different data and their equivalent factors were performed according to BaP equivalent, which is the main factor for calculating CRA of PAHs. The highest concentrations of PAHs were found in the sediments of Assaluyeh industrial zones (14,844 μg/kg), Khormousi region (1874.7 μg/kg), and Shadegan wetland (1749.5 μg/kg), respectively. Dermal exposure to sediments was 96% in adults, and 4% in children, and ingestion exposure to sediment was 99% in adults and 99.2% in children. Children dermal exposure to soil was 53%, and the accidental exposure to soil was 47%. In adults, dermal exposure to soil was 96% and the accidental exposure was 4%. The results of the present study indicated a significant, the carcinogenic risk of Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons in sediments of southern regions and soils of central regions of Iran is significant.

Abstract
The marked increase in the demand for animal protein of high quality necessitates protecting animals from infectious diseases. This requires increasing the use of veterinary therapeutics. The overuse and misuse of veterinary products can cause a risk to human health either as short-term or long-term health problems. However, the biggest problem is the emergence of resistant strains of bacteria or parasites. This is in addition to economic losses due to the discarding of polluted milk or condemnation of affected carcasses. This paper discusses three key points: possible sources of drug and chemical residues, human health problems, and the possible method of control and prevention of veterinary drug residues in animal products.

Abstract
Intensive fish farming through aquaculture is vulnerable to infectious diseases that can increase fish mortality and damage the productivity of aquaculture farms. To prevent infectious diseases, malachite green (MG) has been applied as a veterinary drug for various microbial infections in aquaculture settings worldwide. However, little is known regarding the consequences of MG and MG-degrading bacteria (MGDB) on microbial communities in milkfish culture ponds (MCPs). In this study, small MCPs were used as a model system to determine the effects of MG on the microbial communities in MCPs. The addition of MG led to cyanobacterial blooms in the small MCP. The addition of MGDB could not completely reverse the effects of MG on microbial communities. Cyanobacterial blooms were not prevented. Microbial communities analyzed by next generation sequencing revealed that cyanobacterial blooms may be due to increase of nitrogen cycle (including nitrogen fixation, nitrate reduction and anammox) associated microbial communities, which raised the levels of ammonium in the water of the small MCP. The communities of anoxygenic phototrophic bacteria (beneficial for aquaculture and aquatic ecosystems) decreased after the addition of MG. The results of this investigation provide valuable insights into the effects of MG in aquaculture and the difficulties of bioremediation for aquatic environments polluted by MG.

Abstract
A rapid and simple immunochromatographic strip test assay based on competitive format was developed for leucomalachite green (LMG) detection. LMG-bovine serum albumin and rabbit anti-sheep IgG were immobilized on nitrocellulose membrane for the test line and control line, respectively. Anti-LMG-colloidal gold conjugate was immobilized onto the conjugate pad. For qualitative detection, the cut-off limit of the strip test was determined at 2 µg/L by the naked eye. For quantitative analysis, the working range of the LMG detection was 0.7-2 µg/L with LOD at 0.28 µg/L. A one-step immunochromatographic strip test for LMG detection can be completed within 5 min without any incubation, washing and blocking steps. Analysis results of LMG in aquatic animals obtained from the immunochromatographic strip test were in good agreement with those realized from enzyme-link immunosorbent assay. The developed the immunochromatographic strip test offered rapid detection as a simple (one-step), cost-effective, instrument-free assay and no need for handling reagents.

Abstract
To estimate the cancer risk exposed to the PAHs in Jiaozhou Bay wetland soils, a probabilistic health risk assessment was conducted based on Monte Carlo simulations. A sensitivity analysis was performed to determine the input variables that contribute most to the cancer risk assessment. Three age groups were selected to estimate the cancer risk via four exposure pathways (soil ingestion, food ingestion, dermal contact and inhalation). The results revealed that the 95th percentiles cancer risks for children, teens and adults were 9.11×10(-6), 1.04×10(-5) and 7.08×10(-5), respectively. The cancer risks for three age groups were at acceptable range (10(-6)-10(-4)), indicating no potential cancer risk. For different exposure pathways, food ingestion was the major exposure pathway. For 7 carcinogenic PAHs, the cancer risk caused by BaP was the highest. Sensitivity analysis demonstrated that the parameters of exposure duration (ED) and sum of converted 7 carcinogenic PAHs concentrations in soil based on BaPeq (CSsoil) contribute most to the total uncertainty. This study provides a comprehensive risk assessment on carcinogenic PAHs in Jiaozhou Bay wetland soils, and might be useful in providing potential strategies of cancer risk prevention and controlling.
