Abstract
Fast and efficient detection of pollutants in the food or wastewater is an urgent need for protecting human health and ecological environment. Herein, a luminescent Zr(IV)-MOF (HBU-20) has been conveniently synthesized. It could be used as a fluorescent probe for detection of vanillin, CrO42-, and Cr2O72- in aqueous medium. All the fluorescence response time is less than 10 s and the detection limits of vanillin, CrO42- and Cr2O72- achieve 0.38 μM, 0.065 μM and 0.0089 μM, respectively. Interestingly, common anions, cations and amino acids in the solution can not affect the fluorescence detection. Meanwhile, the fluorescence detection process can be successfully implemented even under strong acid or strong alkaline conditions. Further research shows that the inner filter effect (IFE) plays a major role in the sensing process. The rapid and sensitive fluorescence responses indicate that the compound is a promising multifunctional probe for sensing toxic substance. The results can provide an important reference for the design of new fluorescent probes.

Abstract
Naringenin (NAR) is recognized for its anti-inflammatory activity. However, the clinical application of NAR is limited by low bioavailability, which is attributed to its poor aqueous solubility. In this study, we aimed to improve the therapeutic efficacy of NAR by formulating it into nanocrystals (NCs) via wet milling. The obtained NARNCs exhibited superior dissolution behaviors, increased cellular uptake, and enhanced transcellular diffusion relative to those of bulk NAR. Oral administration of NARNCs also significantly improved bioavailability in rats. In addition, the NARNCs effectively improved rheumatoid arthritis treatment in collagen-induced arthritic rats by reducing inflammatory cell infiltration and synovial damage. These results indicate that NARNCs provides a promising strategy for rheumatoid arthritis treatment.

Abstract
Abstract
The solubilization, Hansen solubility parameters (HSPs) and apparent thermodynamic parameters of a novel anticancer medicine osimertinib (OMT) in binary propylene glycol (P) + water (W) cosolvent mixtures were evaluated. The mole fraction solubility (x
e) of OMT in various (P + W) cosolvent mixtures including neat P and neat W was determined at T = 298.2–318.2 K and p = 0.1 MPa by applying a saturation shake flask method. HSPs of OMT, neat P, neat W and (P + W) cosolvent compositions free of OMT were also estimated. The x
e values of OMT were regressed with Van’t Hoff, modified Apelblat, Yalkowsky-Roseman, Jouyban-Acree and Jouyban-Acree-Van’t Hoff models with an average errors of <3.0 %. The highest and lowest x
e value of OMT was estimated in neat P (2.70 × 10−3 at T = 318.2 K) and neat W (1.81 × 10−5 at T = 298.2 K), respectively. Moreover, HSP of OMT was found to be closed with that of neat P. The solubility of OMT was found to be increased significantly with an increase in temperature and P mass fraction in all (P + W) cosolvent compositions including neat P and neat W. The results of activity coefficients suggested higher molecular interactions in OMT-P combination compared with OMT-W combination. The results of thermodynamic studies indicated an endothermic and entropy-driven dissolution of OMT in all (P + W) cosolvent compositions including neat P and neat W.

Abstract
Micellar systems are colloids with significant properties for pharmaceutical and food applications. They can be used to formulate thermodynamically stable mixtures to solubilize hydrophobic food-related substances. Furthermore, micellar formation is a complex process in which a variety of intermolecular interactions determine the course of formation and most important are the hydrophobic and hydrophilic interactions between surfactant-solvent and solvent-solvent. Glycols are organic compounds that belong to the group of alcohols. Among them, propane-1,2-diol (PG) is a substance commonly used as a food additive or ingredient in many cosmetic and hygiene products. The nature of the additive influences the micellar structure and properties of sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS). When increasing the mass fraction of propane-1,2-diol in binary mixtures, the c.m.c. values decrease because propane-1,2-diol is a polar solvent, which gives it the ability to form hydrogen bonds, decreasing the cohesivity of water and reducing the dielectric constant of the aqueous phase. The values of ΔGm0 are negative in all mixed solvents according to the reduction in solvophobic interactions and increase in electrostatic interaction. With the rising concentration of cosolvent, the equilibrium between cosolvent in bulk solution and in the formed micelles is on the side of micelles, leading to the formation of micelles at a lower concentration with a small change in micellar size. According to the 1H NMR, with the addition of propylene glycol, there is a slight shift of SDS peaks towards lower ppm regions in comparison to the D2O peak. The shift is more evident with the increase in the amount of added propane-1,2-diol in comparison to the NMR spectra of pure SDS. Addition of propane-1,2-diol causes the upfield shift of the protons associated with hydrophilic groups, causing the shielding effect. This signifies that the alcohol is linked with the polar head groups of SDS due to its proximity to the SDS molecules.

Abstract
This research deals with the determination of solubility, Hansen solubility parameters, dissolution properties, enthalpy-entropy compensation, and computational modeling of a naturally-derived bioactive compound trans-resveratrol (TRV) in water, methanol, ethanol, n-propanol, n-butanol, propylene glycol (PG), and various PG + water mixtures. The solubility of TRV in six different mono-solvents and various PG + water mixtures was determined at 298.2-318.2 K and 0.1 MPa. The measured experimental solubility values of TRV were regressed using six different computational/theoretical models, including van't Hoff, Apelblat, Buchowski-Ksiazczak λh, Yalkowsly-Roseman, Jouyban-Acree, and van't Hoff-Jouyban-Acree models, with average uncertainties of less than 3.0%. The maxima of TRV solubility in mole fraction was obtained in neat PG (2.62 × 10-2) at 318.2 K. However, the minima of TRV solubility in the mole fraction was recorded in neat water (3.12 × 10-6) at 298.2 K. Thermodynamic calculation of TRV dissolution properties suggested an endothermic and entropy-driven dissolution of TRV in all studied mono-solvents and various PG + water mixtures. Solvation behavior evaluation indicated an enthalpy-driven mechanism as the main mechanism for TRV solvation. Based on these data and observations, PG has been chosen as the best mono-solvent for TRV solubilization.

Abstract
Vanillin is widely used as a flavor enhancer and is known to have numerous other interesting properties, including antidepressant, anticancer, anti-inflammatory, and antioxidant effects. However, as excess vanillin consumption can affect liver and kidney function, simple and rapid detection methods for vanillin are required. Herein, a novel electrochemical sensor for the sensitive determination of vanillin was fabricated using an iron phthalocyanine (FePc)-based metal-organic framework (MOF). Scanning electron microscopy and transmission electron microscopy showed that the FePc MOF has a hollow porous structure and a large surface area, which impart this material with high adsorption performance. A glassy carbon electrode modified with the FePc MOF exhibited good electrocatalytic performance for the detection of vanillin. In particular, this vanillin sensor had a wide linear range of 0.22-29.14 μM with a low detection limit of 0.05 μM (S/N = 3). Moreover, the proposed sensor was successfully applied to the determination of vanillin in real samples such as vanillin tablets and human serum.

Abstract
In this study, the solubility, density and viscosity of sorbitol as a sugar alcohol in the ([mmim](MeO)2PO2) ionic liquid (IL) were measured. The results indicated that sorbitol is highly soluble in this IL. The Flory-Huggins model with an average value for the χ parameter was successfully applied to predict the solubility of sorbitol in IL. The thermodynamic properties such as enthalpy, entropy and Gibbs free energy of dissolution were obtained using experimental solubility data, which demonstrated that the dissolution process is endothermic and non-spontaneous and includes an entropy increase. In addition, the apparent molar volume, apparent molar expansion and thermal expansion coefficient were calculated. The study of the rheological behavior revealed that the sorbitol/IL solution is Newtonian and the Arrhenius, Litovitz, Orrick-Erbar-Type and Vogel-Fulcher-Tamman models were used to correlate the viscosity data.

Abstract
The solubility values and thermodynamic parameters of a natural phytomedicine/nutrient piperine (PPN) in Transcutol-HP (THP) + water combinations were determined. The mole fraction solubilities (xe) of PPN in THP + water combinations were recorded at T = 298.2-318.2 K and p = 0.1 MPa by the shake flask method. Hansen solubility parameters (HSPs) of PPN, pure THP, pure water and THP + water mixtures free of PPN were also computed. The xe values of PPN were correlated well with "Apelblat, Van't Hoff, Yalkowsky-Roseman, Jouyban-Acree and Jouyban-Acree-Van't Hoff" models with root mean square deviations of < 2.0%. The maximum and minimum xe value of PPN was found in pure THP (9.10 × 10-2 at T = 318.2 K) and pure water (1.03 × 10-5 at T = 298.2 K), respectively. In addition, HSP of PPN was observed more closed with that of pure THP. The thermodynamic parameters of PPN were obtained using the activity coefficient model. The results showed an endothermic dissolution of PPN at m = 0.6-1.0 in comparison to other THP + water combinations studied. In addition, PPN dissolution was recorded as entropy-driven at m = 0.8-1.0 compared with other THP + water mixtures evaluated.

Abstract
This work was carried out to determine solubility, solution thermodynamics, solvation behavior, and molecular interactions of a natural compound ferulic acid (FLA) in different '[polyethylene glycol-400 (PEG-400) + water]' binary solvent mixtures at 'T = 298.2 K to 318.2 K' and 'p = 0.1 MPa.' The mole fraction solubilities (xe) of FLA were determined by liquid chromatographic technique using a static equilibrium technique. The obtained solubility data of FLA were regressed using 'Van't Hoff, Apelblat, Yalkowsky-Roseman and Jouyban-Acree models.' The solubility of FLA (expressed in mole fraction) was enhanced with elevation in absolute temperature in each 'PEG-400 + water' binary solvent mixture evaluated. The maximum xe values of FLA were recorded in neat PEG-400 (1.94 × 10-1) at 'T = 318.2 K.' While, the minimum one was obtained in neat water (4.90 × 10-5) at 'T = 298.2 K.' The molecular interactions between FLA-PEG-400 and FLA-water were obtained by determination of activity coefficients of FLA in different 'PEG-400 + water' binary solvent mixtures. The physical data of activity coefficients recorded in this work suggested strong molecular interactions in FLA-PEG-400 in comparison with FLA-water. 'Apparent thermodynamic analysis' suggested an 'endothermic and entropy-driven dissolution' of FLA in each 'PEG-400 + water' binary solvent mixture investigated.

Abstract
Abstract
The preset study was undertaken to determine solubility and solution thermodynamics of a novel anticancer drug baricitinib in some pharmaceutically used mono/pure solvents including “water, ethanol, polyethylene glycol-400 (PEG-400), ethyl acetate (EA), dichloromethane (DCM) and dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO)” at “T = 298.2 K to 323.2 K” and “p = 0.1 MPa”. The solubility of baricitinib after equilibrium (saturation state) was analyzed spectrophotometrically by applying an isothermal technique. Characterization of solid phases of initial and equilibrated baricitinib was confirmed with the help of differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). Measured solubilities of baricitinib were regressed using “van’t Hoff and Apelblat models”. DSC spectra of baricitinib showed no change in physical state of baricitinib after equilibrium. Solubilities of baricitinib (as mole fraction) were estimated highest in DMSO (1.65 × 10−1) followed by PEG-400 (1.42 × 10−1), DCM (1.29 × 10−3), ethanol (7.41 × 10−4), EA (4.74 × 10−4) and water (1.76 × 10−4) at “T = 323.2 K” and same tendencies were also noted at other temperatures studied. With the help of theoretical solubilities of baricitinib, activity coefficients were estimated. The estimated data of activity coefficients indicated higher molecular interactions in baricitinib-DMSO and baricitinib-PEG-400 as compared with baricitinib-water, baricitinib-EA, baricitinib-DCM and baricitinib-ethanol. Thermodynamic treatment of solubility values of baricitinib showed “endothermic and entropy-driven dissolution” of baricitinib in all pharmaceutically used solvents evaluated.

Abstract
The aim of this study was to determine the solubility of pyridazinone derivative 6-phenyl-4,5-dihydropyridazin-3(2H)-one (PDP-6) in different “polyethylene glycol 400 (PEG 400)+water” mixtures at temperatures “T=293.2 K to 313.2 K” and pressure “p=0.1 MPa”. The solubilities of PDP-6 were determined using an isothermal method and correlated with Apelblat, van’t Hoff and Yalkowsky–Roseman models. The maximum solubilities of PDP-6 in mole fraction were obtained in neat PEG 400 (8.46×10−2 at T=313.2 K). However, the minimum one was recorded in neat water (7.50×10−7 at T=293.2 K). Apparent thermodynamic analysis showed an endothermic dissolution of PDP-6 in all (PEG 400 water) mixtures. Based on the solubility data of the current study, PDP-6 has been considered as practically insoluble in water and soluble in PEG 400.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE The solubility of an herbal compound ferulic acid (FA) in various (isopropanol (IPA) + water) mixtures was measured and correlated at temperatures 'T = 298.2 K to 318.2 K' and pressure 'p = 0.1 MPa'. METHODS The experimental solubilities of FA in mole fraction were determined using a static equilibrium method and correlated with 'Apelblat, Van't Hoff, Yalkowsky and Jouyban-Acree models'. KEY FINDINGS The maximum mole fraction solubilities of FA were obtained in neat IPA (2.58 × 10-2 at T = 318.2 K) followed by minimum in neat water (4.87 × 10-5 at T = 298.2 K). The activity coefficients of FA in various (IPA + water) mixtures were determined to evaluate the molecular interactions between FA and co solvent mixtures. Strong molecular interactions were seen between FA and neat IPA in comparison with FA and neat water. 'Apparent thermodynamic analysis' indicated an 'endothermic and entropy-driven dissolution' of FA in all (IPA + water) mixtures evaluated. CONCLUSIONS Isopropanol was investigated as a good cosolvent in the solubility enhancement of FA in water; therefore, it could be used as solubilizer in solubility enhancement and formulation development of FA.

Abstract
The aim of the present study was to ascertain the solubility of nitrendipine (NP), an antihypertensive drug in six different pure solvents such as water, ethyl acetate (EA), ethanol, isopropyl alcohol (IPA), polyethylene glycol-400 (PEG-400), and Transcutol at temperature from 298.15 to 318.15 K under atmospheric pressure (p) of 0.1 MPa. Experimental solubility data of NP was fitted with Apelblat and ideal models. The mole fraction solubility of NP was found maximum in PEG-400 (6.85 × 10-2 at 318.15 K) followed by Transcutol (4.65 × 10-2 at 318.15 K), EA (1.68 × 10-2 at 318.15 K), ethanol (2.83 × 10-3 at 318.15 K), IPA (2.69 × 10-3 at 318.15 K), and water (1.29 × 10-7 at 318.15 K). The dissolution activity of NP was observed as an endothermic, spontaneous, and an entropy-driven in most of studied pure solvents. The solubility data of NP obtained in the present study could be useful in purification, recrystallization, and dosage forms design of NP.
