Abstract
Hollow porous molecularly imprinted polymers (HPMIPs) are identified as promising adsorbents with many advantageous properties (e.g., large number of imprinted cavities, highly accessible binding sites, controllable pore structure, and fast mass transfer). Because of such properties, HPMIPs can exhibit improved binding capacity and kinetics to make analyte molecules readily interact with a greater number of recognition sites on the imprinted shell. This review highlights the synthesis and utility of HPMIPs as adsorbents to cover diverse targets of interest (e.g., endocrine disrupting chemicals, pharmaceuticals, pesticides, and heavy metal ions). The overall potential of HPMIPs is thus discussed in the context of analytical chemistry with particular focus on the efficient extraction of trace-level targets from complex matrices.

Abstract
Photoresponsive surface molecularly imprinted polymers (PSMIPs) with controlled nanoshell thicknesses were synthesized using different amounts of precursor materials to determine the effects of polymer shell layer thickness on the separation and purification of 6-O-alpha-maltosyl-beta-cyclodextrin (Mal-β-CD). The physicochemical properties and adsorption and desorption capacities of PSMIPs with different shell thicknesses were studied. Interestingly, the uniform thickness of the imprinted polymer shell layer could be adjusted from 10 to 60 nm by varying the amount of polymerization precursors, and the average mesopore diameter of PSMIPs was not significantly affected by shell thickness. However, the removal efficiency and selective capacity of PSMIPs on Mal-β-CD were strongly correlated to their shell thickness. The adsorption behavior of PSMIPs on Mal-β-CD fitted well with the Langmuir adsorption model and pseudo-second-order kinetic model. Based on the obtained results, PSMIPs with a 30-nm imprinted layer were found to be an excellent adsorbent for Mal-β-CD separation, with an adsorption capacity of 18.12 mg/g. They can therefore be used for industrial chromatographic separations of Mal-β-CD in the future. PRACTICAL APPLICATION: This article clearly demonstrated that the shell thickness of core-shell molecularly imprinted materials affected the degree and rate of cyclodextrin separation. Determining the optimal thickness is of great significance for the material in the separation and purification of cyclodextrin.

Abstract
A supramolecular polymer (CDP-DA) was prepared through the crosslinking reaction among the assembled complexes (CDDA) based on β-cyclodextrin (β-CyD) and octadecylamine (ODA). The structural properties of CDP-DA were clarified by experimental techniques such as Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscope, and thermal analysis. Based on the results of molecular docking, the crosslinking unit, CDDA, in the CDP-DA structure favors to exhibit the configuration that narrow rims of two host compounds (β-CyD) are opposite to each other leaving the amino group of ODA outside the host cavity. The corrosion inhibition performance of CDP-DA for mild steel in industrial condensate water was evaluated by electrochemical measurements and surface analyses, the mechanism of which was disclosed by molecular dynamics simulations in the aspects of adsorption equilibrium and ions diffusion models. The results of electrochemical tests indicate that CDP-DA effectively retards the anodic and cathodic reactions and improves the interfacial charge transfer resistance of mild steel in condensate water, which can be categorized as the mixed-type inhibitor. Surface analyses reveal that CDP-DA adsorbs on the steel surface in the integral form showing a monolayer nature, which is consolidated by molecular dynamics simulations. The diffusion behavior of in situ ions in the adsorbed layer is prominently suppressed as compared with those in bulk solution. The robust barrier layer and the mitigated diffusion of ions may contribute to the effective inhibition for CDP-DA against steel deterioration in the condensate water. Abstract
The production of γ-cyclodextrin usually includes the utilization of organic complexants. However, the non-complexant production of γ-cyclodextrin is always being explored due to the defects of organic complexants. However, in non-complexant production, the separation of γ-cyclodextrin from α- and β-cyclodextrin is still a challenge. Here, the selective hydrolysis ability of a cyclodextrinase designated PpCD (cyclodextrinase from Palaeococcus pacificus) on α-cyclodextrin, β-cyclodextrin, and γ-cyclodextrin was proved. The kcat /Km values of PpCD for α-cyclodextrin and β-cyclodextrin were roughly 12-fold and 5-fold higher than that of γ-cyclodextrin. It was proved that PpCD had selective hydrolysis ability and its γ-cyclodextrin purification performance was apparent on various simulated cyclodextrin mixtures with reported proportions derived from different CGTases. Besides, the hydrolysis temperature was optimized and it could be seen that 85°C was appropriate for the production of γ-cyclodextrin. In addition, the production of γ-cyclodextrin was achieved by using PpCD in the γ-CGTase reaction products.
