Abstract
Three Cu(II) complexes of quinoline derivatives as cancer chemodynamic therapy agents were synthesized and characterized. These complexes were heavily taken up by cells and reacted with cellular glutathione (GSH) to reduce Cu2+ to Fenton-like Cu+, which catalyzed endogenous H2O2 to produce the highly toxic hydroxyl radicals (•OH) to kill cancer cells. Cu1 and Cu2 initiated CAT activity declines, mitochondrial membrane potential and ATP concentration decrease, mitochondrial Ca2+ overload and ER stress response, leading to cell cycle arrest in sub-G1 and cancer cell caspase-dependent apoptosis. On account of the high GSH and H2O2 specific properties of the tumor microenvironment, Cu1 and Cu2 exhibited higher in vitro anticancer activity and lower toxicity to normal cells. Cu1 and Cu2 efficiently inhibited tumor growth in the SK-OV-3 xenograft mouse model without obvious systemic toxicity.

Abstract
Complexes of 4-(((2-aminopyridin-3-yl)methylene)amino)benzoic acid ligand with cobalt(II) (1), nickel(II) (2), copper(II) (3), zinc(II) (4) and palladium(II) (5) are synthesized and characterized by using different spectroscopic methods like, UV-Visible, infrared, 1H, 13C NMR, molar conductance, ESR and elemental analysis. Quantum chemical computations were made using DFT (density functional theory), B3LYP functional and 6-31+ +G(d,p)/SDD basis set in order to determine optimized structure parameters, frontier molecular orbital parameters and NLO properties. Based on DFT and experimental evidence, the complexes ensured that the octahedral geometry have been proposed for complexes 1, 2 and 4, square planar for complexes 3 and 5. All the complexes showed only residual molar conductance values and hence they were considered as non-electrolytes in DMF. In addition, the anti-proliferative activity of the compounds was evaluated against different human cancer cell lines (IMR-32, MCF-7, COLO205, A549, HeLa and HEK 293) and cisplatin is used as a reference drug. Compounds 1 and 4 showed remarkable cytotoxicity in five cancer cell lines tested except MCF-7. Also, the compounds were examined for their in vitro antimicrobial and scavenging activities. The molecular docking results are well corroborated with the experimental anticancer activity results.

Abstract
Abstract
In the prevailing apocalyptic times of coronavirus disease (COVID-19), the whole scientific community is busy in designing anticovid drug or vaccine. Under such a fascination, Schiff bases or azomethine compounds are continuously interrogated for antimicrobial properties. These compounds represent interesting molecular scaffolds of huge medicinal and industrial relevance. In order to update the current literature support of such facts this article introduces the synthetic chemistry, mechanism of formation of a Schiff base, followed by biological efficacy and finally a suitable discussion on the mechanism of respective bioactivity. In most of the studies revealing the biological evaluation of azomethine functionalized frameworks, fascinated results have been recorded in case of azomethine-metal complexes as compared with the free ligands. Also, the CH=N or C=N form of organic ligands have indicated marvellous results. Therefore, in connection with the biological relevance and microbicidal implications of such metallic compounds, this works reviews the current update of microorganism fighting efficacy of azomethine metal complexes along with the introduction of some metallodrugs as excellent candidates having COVID-19 defending potentiality.

Abstract
Three copper(ii) complexes, [Cu(L1)(NO3)2] (C1), [Cu(L2)Cl2] (C2) and [Cu(L2)SO4]2·H2O (C3), were designed and synthesized by the reaction of Cu(NO3)2·3H2O, CuCl2·2H2O and CuSO4·5H2O with a quinoline-derived Schiff base ligand, L1 or L2, prepared by the condensation of quinoline-8-carbaldehyde with 4-aminobenzoic acid methyl ester or 4-aminobenzoic acid ethyl ester (benzocaine). The efficient bindings of the C1-C3 complexes with human serum albumin (HSA) and calf thymus DNA (CT-DNA) were analyzed by spectroscopy and molecular docking. These complexes could significantly quench the fluorescence of HSA through the static quenching process, and hydrophobic interactions with HSA through the sub-domain IIA and IIIA cavities. The complexes bind to DNA via the intercalative mode and they fit well into the curved contour of the DNA target in the minor groove region. Furthermore, the interaction abilities of the Cu(ii) complexes with HSA/DNA were greater as compared to their corresponding ligands. Interestingly, C1-C3, particularly C3, exhibited more cytotoxicity toward HeLa cells compared to normal HL-7702 cells and three other tumor cell lines (Hep-G2, NCI-H460, and MGC80-3). Their cytotoxicity toward the HeLa cell lines was 1.9-3.5-fold more potent than cisplatin. Further studies indicated that these complexes arrested the cell cycle in the G0/G1 phase and promoted tumor cell apoptosis via a reactive oxygen species (ROS)-mediated mitochondrial pathway.

Abstract
A novel one-dimensional coordination polymer containing Cu(I)Cu(II) core with chloro bridge on Cu(I) and ligand bridge on Cu(II) ions (1) and a mononuclear Cu(II) complex (2) have been synthesized from the reactions of 3- and 4-methoxy-3-quinolin-3-ylimino-methyl-2-phenol with [CuCl2(PPh3)2]. The ligands and the complexes have been characterized by spectral and analytical methods. In addition, the structures of both the ligands and the copper complexes were confirmed by single crystal X-ray diffraction studies. In both complexes, the phenolic oxygen and azomethine nitrogen atom of the ligand coordinate to the copper ions in a monobasic bidentate manner resulting in an approximately square planar geometry around the copper ion. In the polymeric complex, the N atom of the quinoline ring is coordinated to Cu(I) in addition to the phenolic oxygen and azomethine nitrogen atom coordinating to Cu(II) ion, thus bridging Cu(I) and Cu(II) ions in the complex. The interactions of the compounds with calf thymus DNA (CT-DNA) have been followed by absorption and emission titration methods, which revealed that the compounds interact with CT-DNA through intercalation. Further, the interactions of the compounds with bovine serum albumin (BSA) were also investigated using UV-visible, fluorescence spectroscopic methods. The results indicated that complex 1 exhibited a stronger binding to CT-DNA and BSA than the free ligands and complex 2. In addition, the in vitro cytotoxicity experiment showed that complexes 1 and 2 exhibit potent cytotoxic properties against PANC-1and Hela cells. Moreover, while complex 1 showed prominent cytotoxic activity against both PANC-1 and Hela cells with IC50 of 17.91 and 11.67 μM, complex 2 showed moderate cytotoxic activities with IC50 of 25.13 and 16.41 μM in PANC-1 and Hela cells. Further, apoptosis was confirmed by fluorescence image using EB/AO reagent.
