Abstract
We synthesized and characterized two copper(II) complexes: [CuL2Cl]Cl and [CuL'2Cl]Cl, where L = 2,2'-bipyridine and L' = 4,4'-dimethyl-2,2'-bipyridine. We evaluated their photocatalytic hydrocarboxylation properties on a series of synthesized Schiff bases (SBs): (E)-1-(4-((5-bromo-2-hydroxybenzylidene)amino)phenyl)ethanone (SB1), (E)-N-(4-(dimethylamino)benzylidene)benzo[d]thiazol-2-amine (SB2), (E)-4-Bromo-2-((thiazol-2-ylimino)methyl)phenol (SB3), and (E)-4-((5-bromo-2-hydroxybenzylidene)amino)-1,5-dimethyl-2-phenyl-1H-pyrazol-3(2H)-one (SB4). Under mild photocatalytic reaction conditions (room temperature, 1 atm CO2, 30-watt Blue LED light), the derivatives of α-amino acids UAA1-4 were obtained with yields ranging from 5% to 44%. Experimental results demonstrated that [CuL2Cl]Cl exhibited superior photocatalytic efficiency compared to [CuL'2Cl]Cl, attributed to favourable electronic properties. In silico studies revealed strong binding strengths with E. faecalis DHFR (4M7U) for docked Schiff bases (SB) and unnatural α-amino acids (UAAs). In vitro studies further demonstrated significant antimicrobial and antifungal activity for SB2, SB3, and SB4, while none of the synthesized UAAs exhibited such properties, primarily due to the electronic and binding properties of these molecules.

Abstract
Bivalent copper complexes, [Cu(SB1 )2 ] 1 (SB1 =(2-(4-methylbenzylimino)methyl)-5-methylphenol, [Cu(SB2 )2 ] 2 (SB2 =(2-(4-methylbenzylimino)methyl)-4-bromolphenol), and [Cu(SB3 )2 ] 3 (SB3 =(2-(4-methylbenzylimino)methyl)-4,6-dibromophenol) were synthesized using the Schiff bases prepared from 4-methylbenzylamine (p-tolylmethanamine). These were characterized using a variety of spectro-analytical methods. For all copper complexes, a square planar geometry was determined through spectral analyses. Utilizing molecular orbital energies, the stability of the copper complexes was calculated from quantum chemical characteristics. The kinetic and thermal degradation parameters were calculated from the thermograms. Studies on DNA binding interactions, such as UV absorption and emission, have shown that the manner of DNA binding is intercalative, and the binding constant (Kb ) order is 3>2>1. Under oxidative and photolytic techniques, the copper complexes outperform the parent Schiff bases in their ability to cleave double-stranded pBR322 DNA. When tested for cytotoxicity on the KB3 and MCF7 cell lines, complexes displayed greater activity than their parent ligands. Studies on the complexes' in-vitro antibacterial and antioxidant activity showed that they are significantly more powerful than the parent ligands.

Abstract
The synthesis of new chiral copper(ii) complexes with terpene derivatives of ethylenediamine and the results of studying their antibacterial, antifungal and antioxidant activity in vitro are discussed. All studied copper complexes (1-4) showed significantly higher antifungal activity against the strains of C. albicans, S. salmonicolor and P. notatum compared to the activity of the clinical antifungal drug amphotericin. High antibacterial activity of copper complexes with terpene derivatives of ethylenediamine was revealed against the S. aureus (MRSA) strain, which is resistant to the reference antibiotic ciprofloxacin. Using various test systems, a comparative assessment of the antioxidant activity (AOA) of the synthesized copper complexes and the ligands was carried out. The salen-type complex 4, which has the highest AOA in the model of initiated oxidation of a substrate containing animal lipids, was superior to other copper complexes in the ability to protect erythrocytes under conditions of H2O2-induced hemolysis.

Abstract
Metronidazole (MTZ) is an antibacterial drug widely used for the treatment of protozoan and anaerobic infections in humans and animals. However, its low bioavailability necessitates the frequent administration of a high dose to attain an effective plasma concentration profile for therapy. To reduce the dose of MTZ, we have prepared a new cocrystal between MTZ and ethyl gallate (EG). The solid-state properties of MTZ-EG were characterized using complimentary techniques, including thermal, spectroscopic, microscopic, and X-ray crystallographic methods. The MTZ-EG cocrystal exhibits a higher solubility and faster dissolution than MTZ. The bioavailability of MTZ in rats was increased by 36% when MTZ-EG was used.

Abstract
Transition metal-based compounds have shown promising uses as therapeutic agents. Among their unique characteristics, these compounds are suitable for interaction with specific biological targets, making them important potential drugs to treat various diseases. Copper compounds, of which Casiopeinas® are an excellent example, have shown promising results as alternatives to current cancer therapies, in part because of their intercalative properties with DNA. Vanadium compounds have been extensively studied for their pharmacological properties and application, mostly in diabetes, although recently, there is a growing interest in testing their activity as anti-cancer agents. In the present work, two compounds, [Cu(Metf)(bipy)Cl]Cl·2H2O and [Cu(Impy)(Gly)(H2O)]VO3, were obtained and characterized by visible and FTIR spectroscopies, single-crystal X-ray diffraction, and theoretical methods. The structural and electronic properties of the compounds were calculated through the density functional theory (DFT) using the Austin-Frisch-Petersson functional with dispersion APFD, and the 6-311 + G(2d,p) basis set. Non-covalent interactions were analyzed using Hirshfeld surface analysis (HSA) and atom in molecules analysis (AIM). Additionally, docking analysis to test DNA/RNA interactions with the Casiopeina-like complexes were carried out. The compounds provide metals that can interact with critical biological targets. In addition, they show interesting non-covalent interactions that are responsible for their supramolecular arrangements.
