Robotic-assisted reconstruction of a ureteral herniation into the psoas major fascia: A unique obstructive etiology and a surgical approach to management

Ureteral herniation has been described in urologic literature. Documented sites of herniation include the femoral and inguinal canals, obturator and sciatic foramen, and the thoracic cavity. Herein, we report what we believe to be the first described case of symptomatic obstruction from ureteral herniation through a defect in the psoas major muscle fascia and detail our approach to definitive robotic-assisted surgical management of this unique entity.

Ureterosciatic hernia with concomitant Amyand hernia: Case report and review of the literature

Ureterosciatic hernias are extremely rare, with fewer than 40 cases reported in the literature. We present a case of a patient with concurrent right ureterosciatic hernia (Lindbom hernia), ipsilateral bladder hernia, and appendix-containing inguinal hernia (Amyand hernia). These findings were discovered incidentally on imaging and the patient had no associated symptoms.

Inguinal hernia with ureter in patient with single kidney

Inguinal hernias are a common disease in adults, but involvement of extraperitoneal structures is rare. This condition is usually asymptomatic and an incidental finding during the surgical correction of inguinal hernias, often resulting in iatrogenic damage. We present a rare case of left renal agenesis and right inguinal hernia, with the ureter being the only organ protruding as an inguinal hernia, diagnosed in the preoperative period.
