Abstract
The photocatalytic activity of TiO2 anodes was enhanced by synthesizing Ru-doped Ti|TiO2 nanotube arrays. Such photoanodes were fabricated via Ti anodization followed by Ru impregnation and annealing. The X-ray diffractograms revealed that anatase was the main TiO2 phase, while rutile was slightly present in all samples. Scanning electron microscopy evidenced a uniform morphology in all samples, with nanotube diameter ranging from 60 to 120 nm. The bias potential for the photoelectrochemical (PEC) treatment was selected from the electrochemical characterization of each electrode, made via linear sweep voltammetry. All the Ru-doped TiO2 nanotube array photoanodes showed a peak photocurrent (PP) and a saturation photocurrent (SP) upon their illumination with UV or visible light. In contrast, the undoped TiO2 nanotubes only showed the SP, which was higher than that reached with the Ru-doped photoanodes using UV light. An exception was the Ru(0.15 wt%)-doped TiO2, whose SP was comparable under visible light. Using that anode, the activity enhancement during the PEC treatment of a Terasil Blue dye solution at Ebias(PP) was much higher than that attained at Ebias(SP). The percentage of color removal at 120 min with the Ru(0.15 wt%)-doped TiO2 was 98% and 55% in PEC with UV and visible light, respectively, being much greater than 82% and 28% achieved in photocatalysis. The moderate visible-light photoactivity of the Ru-doped TiO2 nanotube arrays suggests their convenience to work under solar PEC conditions, aiming at using a large portion of the solar spectrum.

Abstract
Ruthenium oxide is one of the most active electrocatalyst for oxygen evolution (OER) and oxygen reduction reaction (ORR). Herein, we report simple wet chemical route to synthesize RuO2 nanoparticles at controlled temperature. The structural, morphological and surface area studies of the synthesized nanoparticles were conducted with X-ray diffraction, electron microscopy and BETsurface area studies. The bifunctional electrocatalytic performance of RuO2 nanoparticles was studied under different atmospheric conditions for OER and ORR, respectively, versus reversible hydrogen electrode (RHE) in alkaline medium. Low Tafel slopes of RuO2 nanoparticles were found to be ~47 and ~49 mV/dec for OER and ORR, respectively, in oxygen saturated 0.5 M KOH system. Moreover, the catalytic activity of RuO2 nanoparticles was examined against the Horseradish peroxidase enzyme (HRP) at high temperature, and the nanoparticles were applied as a sensor for the detection of H2O2 in the solution.

Abstract
ZnO-TiO2 composite nanofibers were prepared by using the electrospun fibers of PVP/ZnSO4/ Ti(OiPr)4 composite as precursor, and through calcination treatment. The chemical components, structures and morphology were characterized by FT-IR, XRD, SEM, respectively. The photocatalytic activities of the catalysts were investigated by photocatalystic degradation of Rhodamine B under visible-light irradiation. It was found that the ZnO-TiO2 composite nanofibers photocatalyst calcined at 600 °C which was mixed the anatase phase and rutile phase, showed higher photocatalytic activities than those calcined at other two temperatures. This result was expected as a new morphology of photocatalysts to degrade the organic pollutants in the sun.

Abstract
ABSTRACTElectro-hydro-dynamic (EHD) compound jets, with diameters in the micro and nanometric size range, from conical menisci of two co-flowing liquids, is a consolidated platform for the production of nanofibers with inner structure, in a process so-called coaxial electrospinning or co-electrospinning. In contrast to other multi-step template based procedures, the EHD methodology is much more simple and general since, firstly, a solid template is needless and, secondly, the process is seldom affected by the chemistry of the liquids. This gentle process allows selecting the liquid precursors depending on the application sought for the nanofibers. Here, we review different products obtained by this EHD technique: (1) solid and hollow carbon nanofibers from different precursors (polyacrylonitrile, polyvinylpyrrolidone and lignin), (2) nanofibers of biocompatible polymers encapsulating liquids in the form of beads, (3) spinning nanofibers of alginate and (4) in-fiber encapsulation of active microgels.

Abstract
ABSTRACTTungsten oxide (WO3) and molybdenum oxide (MoO3) nanowires were synthesized through utilizing sol gel and electrospinning methods. Mixtures of metal oxide sol gel and polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) in ethanol solution were electrospun and resulted in metal oxide composite nanofiber mats. Precise annealing process removed all organic material, and pure metal oxide single crystal nanowires remained. Both the as-spun nanocomposite mats and the heat-treated nanofiborous materials were characterized using Scanning and Transmission Electron Microscopes. The average diameter of the nanofibers was concluded to be proportional to the flow rate used and inversely proportional to the metal oxide concentration in the solution.

Abstract
We have recently fabricated dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs) comprising nanofibrous TiO(2) membranes as electrode materials. A thin TiO(2) film was pre-deposited on fluorine doped tin oxide (FTO) coated conducting glass substrate by immersion in TiF(4) aqueous solution to reduce the electron back-transfer from FTO to the electrolyte. The composite polyvinyl acetate (PVac)/titania nanofibrous membranes can be deposited on the pre-deposited thin TiO(2) film coated FTO by electrospinning of a mixture of PVac and titanium isopropoxide in N,N-dimethylformamide (DMF). The nanofibrous TiO(2) membranes were obtained by calcining the electrospun composite nanofibres of PVac/titania as the precursor. Spectral sensitization of the nanofibrous TiO(2) membranes was carried out with a ruthenium (II) complex, cis-dithiocyanate-N,N(')-bis(2,2(')-bipyridyl-4,4(')-dicarboxylic acid) ruthenium (II) dihydrate. The results indicated that the photocurrent and conversion efficiency of electrodes can be increased with the addition of the pre-deposited TiO(2) film and the adhesion treatment using DMF. Additionally, the dye loading, photocurrent, and efficiency of the electrodes were gradually increased by increasing the average thickness of the nanofibrous TiO(2) membranes. The efficiency of the fibrous TiO(2) photoelectrode with the average membrane thickness of 3.9 µm has a maximum value of 4.14%.
