Abstract
BACKGROUND A poroma typically presents as a solitary, pink-to-red papule or nodule in acral volar areas. However, in nonvolar areas, this typical clinical feature (TCF) can be difficult to identify. OBJECTIVE We aimed to compare clinical and dermoscopic characteristics between nonvolar poroma (NVP) and volar (ie, typical) poroma (VP). METHODS We assessed the clinical and dermoscopic characteristics of 40 patients with poromas who were divided into the NVP and VP groups. RESULTS Of the 40 patients, 20 (50.0%) were allocated to the NVP group and 20 (50.0%) to the VP group. Pigmented variants were more common in the NVP group than in the VP group (60.0% vs 5.0%). The TCF of poroma was observed less frequently in the NVP than the VP group (45.0% vs 85.0%). Approximately one-third (30.0%) of patients with NVP received an initial clinical diagnosis of skin cancer. Dermoscopic patterns associated with melanoma or basal cell carcinoma were more common in the NVP group than in the VP group (65% vs 30%). CONCLUSIONS Skin cancer-associated clinicodermoscopic features were more frequently observed in patients with NVP, who simultaneously lost dermoscopic patterns associated to poromas and acquired those associated with skin cancer, than those with VP.

Abstract
Diagnosis can be difficult in isolated palmar and plantar lesions in patients with psoriasis and eczema. The purpose of our study is to compare the dermoscopic findings in patients with palmoplantar psoriasis and palmoplantar hyperkeratotic eczema. This prospective, comparative study included 90 patients histopathologically diagnosed with eczema or psoriasis (35 psoriasis and 55 eczema). The age range was 18-75 years. The most common vessel type was dot vessel in psoriasis. Red globular ring vessels were seen in five patients with psoriasis, but not in any with eczema (P = 0.007). The most common vascular distribution pattern was regular in psoriasis (40%). Patchy vascular pattern was significant in eczema. The most common background color was light red in psoriasis (48.6%) (P < 0.001). Brownish-orange globules were observed in 25.7% of patients with eczema and 5.7% in patients with psoriasis (P = 0.02). There is only one study in the published work about dermoscopy of palmoplantar psoriasis and eczema. In our study, yellow crusts, patchy scale distribution, patchy vascular pattern, yellow scale color, dull red background color and brownish-orange globules were significant in patients with palmoplantar eczema. On the other hand, patients with psoriasis had light red background color, regular vascular distribution pattern and white scale color. We observed globule structures with a pale center and dark peripheral rim only in patients with eczema, which was not identified in previous studies. This globule structure may be a new finding in eczema.

Abstract
Cutaneous adnexal tumors include lesions with apocrine, eccrine, follicular, sebaceous, and mixed differentiation. Most are benign and sporadic, although malignant forms are occasionally observed and some cases develop in the setting of inherited syndromes. These tumors often cause immense diagnostic difficulty. Dermoscopy is a noninvasive technique that has greatly improved the diagnostic accuracy of different skin lesions, including these tumors. We provide a review of the literature on the dermoscopic structures and patterns associated with adnexal tumors. Most patterns associated with this kind of tumor are nonspecific and are observed in other nonadnexal tumors, especially in basal cell carcinomas.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Poromas are benign cutaneous sweat gland tumours that are challenging to identify. The dermoscopic features of poromas are not well characterized. OBJECTIVE To determine the clinical-dermoscopic features of poromas. METHODS Cross-sectional, observational study of 113 poromas and 106 matched control lesions from 16 contributors and eight countries. Blinded reviewers evaluated the clinical and dermoscopic features present in each clinical and dermoscopic image. RESULTS Poromas were most commonly non-pigmented (85.8%), papules (35.4%) and located on non-acral sites (65.5%). In multivariate analysis, dermoscopic features associated with poroma included white interlacing areas around vessels (OR: 7.9, 95% CI: 1.9-32.5, P = 0.004), yellow structureless areas (OR: 2.5, 95% CI: 1.1-6.0, P = 0.04), milky-red globules (OR: 3.9, 95% CI: 1.4-11.1, P = 0.01) and poorly visualized vessels (OR: 33.3, 95% CI: 1.9-586.5, P = 0.02). The presence of branched vessels with rounded endings was positively associated with poromas but did not reach statistical significance (OR: 2.4, 95% CI: 0.8-6.5, P = 0.10). The presence of any of these five features was associated with a sensitivity and specificity of 62.8% and 82.0%, respectively. CONCLUSION We identified dermoscopic features that are specific to the diagnosis of poroma. Overall, however, the prevalence of these features was low. Significant clinical and dermoscopic variability is a hallmark of these uncommon tumours, which are most prevalent on non-acral sites.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Eccrine poroma is a rare, benign skin appendage tumor originating from the intraepidermal portion of the eccrine sweat duct, which typically occurs on the sides and soles of the feet. Nonetheless, eccrine poroma may be found in any skin area bearing sweat glands. OBJECTIVE Herein we report a case of an eccrine poroma in an unusual location, the surgical management of the condition, and follow-up processes.

Abstract
Dermoscopy (dermatoscopy or surface microscopy) is an ancillary dermatologic tool that in experienced hands can improve the accuracy of diagnosis of a variety of benign and malignant pigmented skin tumors. The early and more accurate diagnosis of nonpigmented, or pink, tumors can also be assisted by dermoscopy. This review focuses on the dermoscopic diagnosis of pink lesions, with emphasis on blood vessel morphology and pattern. A 3-step algorithm is presented, which facilitates the timely and more accurate diagnosis of pink tumors and subsequently guides the management for such lesions.

Abstract
An eccrine poroma is a solitary tumor arising from the eccrine duct epithelium in the epidermis. The lesions commonly occur on the sole of the foot, the hands, and occasionally on the nose, eyelids, neck, and chest. We report a patient who presented with a slow-growing nodular lesion over her left cheek, prompting a diagnosis of basal cell carcinoma or keratoacanthoma. Biopsy from the nodule revealed a well-defined epidermal tumor with uniform small cuboidal cells with rounded deeply basophilic nuclei, few narrow ductal lumina, and occasional cystic spaces confirming the diagnosis of an eccrine poroma.

Abstract
Eccrine poroma (EP) is a benign tumor of the eccrine duct. Multiple EPs are defined as eccrine poromatosis (EPS), an uncommon phenomenon. To date there are only eight reported cases of EPS. This review exemplifies the epidemiology, pathogenesis, differential diagnosis, and histology of EP, while reviewing the eight cases of EPS. Six of the eight cases of EPS had a history of immunosuppression from either radiation or chemotherapy. This paper will also emphasize the importance of excision to avoid possible malignancy. Here we present a 73-year-old gentleman with EPS who was also treated with radiation and chemotherapy prior to the onset of the lesions.

Poroma is a benign adnexal neoplasm with atn “poroid”/ductal differentiation that mimics benign and malignant skin tumors. Histopathology shows circumscribed proliferation of poroid cells intermingled with a variable number of cuticular cells. We report a case of pigmented poroma located on the face that simulated clinically and dermatoscopically a pigmented basal cell carcinoma. The features of pigmented and non-pigmented poromas were revisited in order to assist in the diagnosis.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Poromas are benign adnexal tumours generally believed to be of eccrine origin, which usually develop on palmoplantar sites. However, it is thought that a percentage of poromas develop on non-palmoplantar or 'unusual' sites. AIM To review cases of poromas with reference to their clinicoepidemiological characteristics, paying particular attention to the those located on sites other than the palms and soles. METHODS All histologically confirmed poromas seen at our department between 1994 to 2012 were reviewed. The clinicoepidemiological data recorded included age at diagnosis, gender, location, size, colour, and preoperative and pathological diagnoses. RESULTS In total, 101 poromas were reviewed, corresponding to 0.0058% of all the epithelial skin tumours biopsied in our department. The mean age was 65.05 years (range 30-100 years), and the male to female ratio was 1.52. All the lesions were solitary and asymptomatic, with no sign of bleeding. The most common presentation was a red or reddish lesion, particularly at palmoplantar sites, where 33 (32.7%) of the 101 poromas were located, Poromas found at other affected sites were more usually skin-coloured, and these lesions included 7 neoplasms located in the armpits and 18 on the head and neck. The correct preoperative diagnosis was made in 12 cases of 33 detected poromas (36%), all of which were localized to the palmoplantar surfaces. CONCLUSIONS Based on our experience, we consider that there are no 'unusual' sites for poromas, and palmoplantar poromas were in fact in the minority. Furthermore, some localizations suggest derivation of these palmoplantar poromas from the folliculosebaceous apocrine unit.

Abstract
Background: Sweat gland neoplasms are rare neoplasms with less known dermoscopic features. Observations: By applying dermoscopy, we identified some common vascular features that have been defined for amelanotic melanoma such as hairpin vessels, dotted vessels, linear irregular vessels, glomerular vessels, and milky-red areas. Conclusion: Polymorphic vascular structures can also be seen in eccrine neoplasms. Further evaluations should be done to differentiate and identify the common dermoscopic features of other sweat gland tumors.

Abstract
FUNDAMENTOS: Embora de fácil diagnóstico, o molusco contagioso pode apresentar-se como lesões inflamadas, únicas ou pequenas de difícil diagnóstico. OBJETIVO: Descrever características dermatoscópicas do molusco contagioso e comparar achados do exame clínico e dermatoscópico. MÉTODOS: Avaliou-se clínica e dermatoscopicamente lesões confirmadas pela histopatologia em 57 pacientes. RESULTADOS: Nos exames clínico e dermatoscópico de 211 lesões, foram visualizados orifícios em 50,24% e 96,68% das lesões e vasos em 6,16% e 89,10% delas, respectivamente. Os padrões vasculares encontrados em 188 lesões que apresentaram vasos à dermatoscopia foram coroa (72,34%), radial (54,25%) e puntiforme (20,21%). Metade das 188 lesões apresentou padrão vascular combinado, sendo o padrão em flor (novo padrão vascular) responsável por 19,68%. Foram identificados mais orifícios e vasos no exame dermatoscópico que no clínico, inclusive naquelas com inflamação, eczema perilesional e de tamanho pequeno. Vasos puntiformes relacionaram-se com inflamação, escoriação e eczema perilesional. CONCLUSÕES: A dermatoscopia das lesões de molusco mostrou-se superior ao exame dermatológico mesmo quando seu diagnóstico clínico torna-se difícil. A presença de orifícios, vasos e padrões vasculares específicos auxilia no seu diagnóstico e na diferenciação de outras lesões de pele.

Abstract
Nonmelanoma skin cancer refers to a broad class of tumors, including actinic keratosis, basal cell carcinoma, and squamous cell carcinoma, and as a group these are the most frequent cancers occurring in light skinned humans. In contrast to the rarity of amelanotic melanoma, nonmelanoma skin cancer commonly lacks pigmentation. Although these tumors rarely cause death related to metastases, they commonly destroy underlying tissues and should be removed at the earliest possible stage. Dermoscopy improves the clinical diagnosis of nonpigmented skin tumors by allowing the visualization of specific vascular structures that are usually not visible to the naked eye. Dermoscopic vascular patterns of several nonmelanocytic nonpigmented skin tumors, such as sebaceous hyperplasia, seborrheic keratosis, clear cell acanthoma, Bowen disease, or nodular cystic basal cell carcinoma are highly specific, allowing a ready diagnosis in most cases. Others, such as actinic keratosis, pyogenic granuloma, or uncommon adnexal tumors, may be difficult to differentiate even with the aid of dermoscopy. For this reason, general guidelines have been established to assist in making the most appropriate management decision. In the second part of this review of dermoscopic vascular structures of nonpigmented skin tumors, the dermoscopic patterns associated with benign and malignant nonmelanocytic skin tumors and recommendations for the management of these tumors will be discussed.

Abstract
Eccrine porocarcinoma is a rare cutaneous neoplasm that mainly affects elderly people and grows slowly over a long period of time but often experiences an accelerated growth phase. Eccrine porocarcinoma may arise de novo or evolve from a pre-existing benign eccrine poroma. We reported a 86-year-old Japanese woman presenting with two reddish-colored pendulated lesions on a keratotic light brown plaque on the right thigh. Dermoscopic examination of the light-brown plaque demonstrated many whitish globular structures in a light-brown background. At the two reddish-colored pendulated lesions, polymorphous and prominent vessel proliferation was observed together with irregularly shaped whitish negative network. Immunohistochemical study demonstrated a positive CEA staining at ductal structures and atypical clear cells of reddish nodules. A diagnosis of eccrine porocarcinoma arising in a pigmented hidroacanthoma simplex was eventually established, and the dermoscopic features of eccrine porocarcinoma from hidroacanthoma simplex was described for the first time.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Intraepidermal carcinoma (IEC), superficial basal cell carcinoma (sBCC), and psoriasis are common entities that may all present as well-defined, brightly erythematous plaques. Currently, there are limited data on the dermatoscopic features that differentiate these diagnoses. OBJECTIVE We sought to describe the most significant morphologic findings seen on dermatoscopy of IEC, sBCC, and psoriasis, and formulate a diagnostic model based on these features. METHOD We conducted a retrospective observational study using macrophotography and dermatoscopy to evaluate the presence or absence of dermatoscopic features and formulated diagnostic models for each diagnosis. A convenient sample of 300 lesions was collected from 255 patients from two hospital dermatology clinics and 4 private dermatology practices. These comprised 150 cases of sBCC, 100 cases of psoriasis, and 50 cases of IEC. RESULTS The most significant dermatoscopic features of IEC were a clustered vascular pattern, glomerular vessels, and hyperkeratosis. When all 3 features were observed together, the diagnostic probability for IEC was 98%. sBCCs were characterized by a scattered vascular pattern, arborizing microvessels, telangiectatic or atypical vessels, milky-pink background, and brown dots/globules; the diagnostic probability was 99% if 4 of these 6 features were identified. For psoriasis, the significant features identified were a homogenous vascular pattern, red dots, and light-red background, yielding a diagnostic probability of 99% if all 3 features were present. LIMITATIONS Lack of evaluation of interobserver/intraobserver reproducibility is a limitation. CONCLUSION Dermatoscopy is valuable in the diagnosis and differentiation of IEC, sBCC, and psoriasis because of consistent dermatoscopic morphology.

Abstract
Eccrine poroma (EP) may clinically mimic a number of benign and malignant skin tumors. Dermoscopy improves the clinical diagnosis of many pigmented and nonpigmented skin tumors, but to date little is known about the impact of dermoscopy in the diagnosis of EP. We report 2 patients with EP and discuss the diagnostic significance of the observed dermoscopic findings.
