Abstract
The aim of this study was to evaluate the point doses using a distribution of the size-specific dose estimate (SSDE) from axial CT images of in-house phantoms having diameters from 8 to 40 cm. In-house phantoms made of polyester-resin (PESR) mixed with methyl ethyl ketone peroxide (MEKP) were used. The phantoms were built with different diameter sizes of 8, 16, 24, 32, and 40 cm. The phantoms were scanned by Siemens a SOMATOM Perspective-128 slice CT scanner with constant input parameters. The point doses were interpolated from the central SSDE (SSDEc) and the peripheral SSDE (SSDEp). The SSDEc and SSDEp were calculated from the SSDE with h- and k-factors. The point doses were compared to the direct measurements using the nanoDot™ optically-stimulated luminescence dosimeter (OSLD) in dedicated holes on the phantoms. It was found that the point dose decreases as the phantom diameter increased. The doses obtained using two approaches differed by 11% on average. The highest difference was 40% and the lowest difference was < 1%. It was found that dose based on the SSDE concept tended to be higher compared to the measured dose by OSLD. Point dose estimation using the concept of SSDE distribution can be considered an alternative for accurate and simple estimation. This approach still requires improvements to increase its accuracy and its application to estimate the organ dose needs further investigation.

Abstract
As a result of increasing adoption of imaging screening, the number of adult patients with a diagnosis of anomalous aortic origin of the coronary arteries (AAOCA) has grown in recent years. Existing guidelines provide a framework for management and treatment, but patients with AAOCA present with a wide range of anomalies and symptoms that make general recommendations of limited applicability. In particular, a large spectrum of interventions can be used for treatment, and there is no consensus on the optimal approach to be used. In this paper, a multidisciplinary group of clinical and interventional cardiologists and cardiac surgeons performed a systematic review and critical evaluation of the available evidence on the interventional treatment of AAOCA in adult patients. Using a structured Delphi process, the group agreed on expert recommendations that are intended to complement existing clinical practice guidelines.

Abstract
Photon-counting detector (PCD) CT represents the most recent generational advance in CT technology. PCD CT has the potential to reduce image noise, improve spatial resolution and contrast resolution, and provide multispectral capability, all of which may be achieved with an overall decrease in the radiation dose. These effects may be used to reduce the iodinated contrast media dose and potentially obtain multiphase images through a single-acquisition technique. The benefits of PCD CT have previously been shown primarily in phantoms and adult patients. This article describes the application of PCD CT in children, as illustrated by clinical examples from a commercially available PCD CT system.

Abstract
This review aims to summarize key articles published in the Journal of Cardiovascular Computed Tomography (JCCT) in 2022, focusing on those that had the most scientific and educational impact. The JCCT continues to expand; the number of submissions, published manuscripts, cited articles, article downloads, social media presence, and impact factor continues to grow. The articles selected by the Editorial Board of the JCCT in this review highlight the role of cardiovascular computed tomography (CCT) to detect subclinical atherosclerosis, assess the functional relevance of stenoses, and plan invasive coronary and valve procedures. A section is dedicated to CCT in infants and other patients with congenital heart disease, in women, and to the importance of training in CT. In addition, we highlight key consensus documents and guidelines published in JCCT last year. The Journal values the tremendous work by authors, reviewers, and editors to accomplish these contributions.

Abstract
BACKGROUND The severity of pectus excavatum is classified by the Haller Index (HI) and/or Correction Index (CI). These indices measure only the depth of the defect and, therefore, impede a precise estimation of the actual cardiopulmonary impairment. We aimed to evaluate the MRI-derived cardiac lateralization to improve the estimation of cardiopulmonary impairment in Pectus excavatum in connection with the Haller and Correction Indices. METHODS This retrospective cohort study included a total of 113 patients (mean age = 19.03 ± 7.8) with pectus excavatum, whose diagnosis was verified on cross-sectional MRI images using the HI and CI. For the development of an improved HI and CI index, the patients underwent cardiopulmonary exercise testing to assess the influence of the right ventricle's position on cardiopulmonary impairment. The indexed lateral position of the pulmonary valve was utilized as a surrogate parameter for right ventricle localization. RESULTS In patients with PE, the heart's lateralization significantly correlated with the severity of pectus excavatum (p ≤ 0.001). When modifying HI and CI for the individual's pulmonary valve position, those indices are present with greater sensitivity and specificity regarding the maximum oxygen-pulse as a pathophysiological correlate of reduced cardiac function (χ2 10.986 and 15.862, respectively). CONCLUSION The indexed lateral deviation of the pulmonary valve seems to be a valuable cofactor for HI and CI, allowing for an improved description of cardiopulmonary impairment in PE patients.
