Abstract
Endometriosis is a common benign gynecological disease characterized by the presence of endometrial glands and stroma outside the uterus. It can be defined as endometrioma, superficial peritoneal endometriosis or deep infiltrating endometriosis (DIE) depending on the location and the depth of infiltration of the organs. In 5%-12% of cases, DIE affects the digestive tract, frequently involving the distal part of the sigmoid colon and rectum. Surgery is generally recommended in cases of obstructive symptoms and in cases with pain that is non-responsive to medical treatment. Selection of the most optimal surgical technique for the treatment of bowel endometriosis must consider different variables, including the number of lesions, eventual multifocal lesions, as well as length, width and grade of infiltration into the bowel wall. Except for some major and widely accepted indications regarding bowel resection, established international guidelines are not clear on when to employ a more conservative approach like rectal shaving or discoid resection, and when, instead, to opt for bowel resection. Damage to the pelvic autonomic nervous system may be avoided by detection of the middle rectal artery, where its relationship with female pelvic nerve fibers allows its use as an anatomical landmark. To reduce the risk of potential vascular and nervous complications related to bowel resection, a less invasive approach such as shaving or discoid resection can be considered as potential treatment options. Additionally, the middle rectal artery can be used as a reference point in cases of upper bowel resection, where a trans mesorectal technique should be preferred to prevent devascularization and denervation of the bowel segments not affected by the disease.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES The objective of this paper is to evaluate changes in lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS), severity of pain and urodynamic parameters after minimally invasive nerve-sparing surgery for patients with endometriosis. METHODS We analyzed 143 patients undergoing minimally invasive nerve-sparing surgery for endometriosis excision (laparoscopy/robot-assisted). The endometriosis was confirmed by preoperative clinical evaluation, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) showing at least one lesion deeper than 5 mm, and histological confirmation after laparoscopy. We evaluated three points prior and after surgery: LUTS parameters according to the International Urogynecological Association; urodynamic measures of storage and voiding and the severity of the dyspareunia, dyschezia and dysmenorrhea assessed on a self-reported 11-point numeric rating scale. The Wilcoxon signed rank and McNemar tests were used for statistical analyses (p < 0.05). RESULTS We observed significant improvements in LUTS after the surgery with postoperative symptom-free probabilities in urgency (64.5%), daytime frequency (38.5%), and dysuria (87.1%). However, slow stream prevalence increased significantly postsurgery (p = 0.022), with a 20.5% risk of asymptomatic patients developing this symptom. Urodynamic responses varied; for instance, maximum cystometric capacity improved significantly (p = 0.004), while postvoiding residual worsened (p = 0.006). Significant worsening in postvoiding residual occurred in women with normal preoperative values (p = 0.002), with a 17.7% risk of normal values becoming abnormal. Compliance or maximum cystometric capacity not considered normal preoperatively showed significant improvements (p < 0.001), but the risk of normal values becoming abnormal after surgery was 14.5%. CONCLUSION The minimally invasive nerve-sparing surgery for endometriosis excision shows improvement in lower urinary tract symptoms, urodynamics parameters and severity of pain. The majority of patients became asymptomatic in the postoperative period. When compared to the benefits of the patients' surgical treatment, particularly when considering the reduction of pain, the risks of the lower urinary tract treatment seem to be acceptable. The surgical intervention seems to be a safe alternative in patients with endometriosis, although studies with larger samples are needed to confirm these findings.

Abstract
Background and Objectives: Endometriosis is a chronic and recurrent disease defined as the presence and proliferation of endometrial glands and stroma outside the uterine cavity. It affects up to 6-10% of women of reproductive age and can be classified into superficial, ovarian, and deep infiltrating endometriosis (DIE). Deep infiltrating endometriosis can be associated with pain symptoms and pelvic floor muscle hypertone. Moreover, it may be responsible of bowel, urinary, and sexual dysfunctions with impairment of women's quality of life. Few studies have investigated the role of physiotherapy in women with DIE. Here, we aimed first to evaluate the effects of pelvic floor physiotherapy (PFP) on urinary, bowel, and sexual functions. Secondly, we aimed to evaluate the effects of ultrasound visual feedback during PFP on pelvic floor and subjective modifications in the frequency of sexual intercourse. Materials and Methods: This randomized controlled trial was conducted between June 2018 and December 2019 at our tertiary center. Nulliparous women with DIE and superficial dyspareunia were enrolled. At first examination, levator hiatal area (LHA) assessed with 3D/4D transperineal ultrasound, pain symptoms, urinary, bowel, and sexual functions were evaluated. Then, women were randomly assigned to no intervention (control group) or treatment with five individual sessions of PFP (experimental group), and after four months women underwent a second examination. Urinary, bowel, and sexual functions were assessed with validated questionnaires at first and second examinations. In particular, the Bristol Female Lower Urinary Tract Symptoms questionnaire was used to evaluate urinary symptoms, the Knowles-Eccersley-Scott-Symptom questionnaire to assess the presence of constipation, and the Female Sexual Function Index to investigate sexual function. Study outcomes were the comparisons among groups in terms of differences in actual changes in median of questionnaire scores between first and second examinations. Results: Thirty women (17 in the experimental group and 13 in the control group) completed the study. No significant differences were found between the two groups regarding urinary, bowel, and sexual functions, although women in the experimental group showed a tendency towards an improvement in constipation symptoms. Conclusion: In women with DIE, PFP does not appear to affect urinary, bowel, and sexual functions. Therefore, despite the improvement in superficial dyspareunia, chronic pelvic pain, and PFM relaxation with high treatment satisfaction, women should be informed about the unclear impact of PFP on urinary, bowel, and sexual functions. Larger studies are necessary to further investigate the impact of PFP on these functions.

Abstract
PURPOSE To evaluate the effects of deep resection of endometriosis in the posterior pelvic region on urodynamic parameters. METHODS A prospective observational study conducted with female patients diagnosed with deep pelvic endometriosis before and after endometriosis resection surgery. Clinical history, image exams, the Female Lower Urinary Tract Symptoms questionnaire, urodynamic examination, cystometry, and voiding study were evaluated. RESULTS Patients aged 30-39 years old, operative duration of 132.5 minutes, and 2.7 days of hospital stay. Uroflowmetry and cystometry showed tendency for an increase after the surgery in the flow duration, time to maximum flow, and first voiding desire and decreased residual volume and maximum cystometric capacity. Opening, maximum urinary flow, and maximum flow pressure decreased at T1, and the closing parameters increased, although statistically non significant. The variables decreased at T1 in the urodynamic, except for detrusor overactivity. Although we observed a reasonable number of low bladder compliance and abnormal bladder sensation, the results were maintained at T1. General scores for filling and incontinence showed a significant decrease after surgery. CONCLUSIONS A significant response in the patient's perception of urinary function was demonstrated after surgery. It is observed that the surgical procedure did not affect the uroflowmetric and cystometric characteristics of the evaluated patients.

Abstract
PURPOSE Endometriosis involving the colon and/or rectum (CRE) is operatively managed using various methods. We aimed to determine if a more limited excision is associated with 30-day complications, symptom improvement, and/or recurrence. METHODS This is a retrospective review of consecutive cases of patients who underwent surgical management of CRE between 2010 and 2018. Primary outcomes were the associations between risk factors and symptom improvement, 30-day complications, and time to recurrence. Multivariable logistic regression assessed the independent risk factors. RESULTS Of 2681 endometriosis cases, 142 [5.3% of total, mean age 35.4 (31.0; 39.0) years, 73.9% stage IV] underwent CRE excision (superficial partial = 66.9%, segmental = 27.5%, full thickness = 1.41%). Minor complications (14.8%) were associated with blood loss [150 (112; 288) vs. 100 (50.0; 200) mls, p = 0.046], Sigmoid involvement [45.5% vs. 12.2%, HR 5.89 (1.4; 22.5), p = 0.01], stoma formation [52.6% vs. 8.9%, HR 10.9 (3.65; 34.1), p < 0.001], and segmental resection [38.5% vs. 5.8%, HR 9.75 (3.54; 30.4), p < 0.001]. Superficial, partial-thickness resections were associated with decreased risk [(4.2% vs. 36.2%), HR 0.08 (0.02; 0.24), p < 0.001]. Factors associated with major complications (8.5%) were blood loss [250 (100; 400) vs. 100 (50.0; 200) mls, p = 0.03], open surgery [31.6% vs. 4.9%, HR 8.74 (2.36; 32.9), p = 0.001], stoma formation [42% vs. 3.3%, HR 20.3 (5.41; 90.0), p < 0.001], and segmental colectomy [28.2% vs. 0.9%, HR 34.6 (6.25; 876), p < 0.001]. Partial-thickness resection was associated with decreased risk ([.05% vs. 23.4%, HR 8.74 (2.36; 32.9), p < 0.001]. 19.1% experienced recurrence. Open surgery [5.2% vs. 21.3%, HR 0.14 (0.02; 1.05), p = 0.027] and superficial partial thickness excision [23.4% vs. 10.6%, HR 2.86 (1.08; 7.59), p = 0.027] were associated. Segmental resection was associated with decreased recurrence risk [7.6% vs. 23.5%, HR 0.27 (0.08; 0.91), p = 0.024]. CONCLUSION Limiting resection to partial-thickness or full-thickness disc excision compared to bowel resection may improve complications but increase recurrence risk.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Endometriosis (EMT) is a benign and common estrogen-dependent disease. Hormonal therapy improves pain symptoms in most women with EMT. However, in many cases, laparoscopic fertility preservation surgery is considered a common treatment for EMT. The present study aimed to evaluate the efficacy and safety of dienogest, leuprolide, danazol, gestrinone, mifepristone and levonorgestrel intrauterine system (LNG-IUS) in relieving symptoms and delaying the recurrence of EMT cysts after fertility protection surgery. METHODS We searched PubMed, the Cochrane Library, Web of Science, EMBase, China National Knowledge Infrastructure, VIP Database, China Biology Medicine disc, WanFang Data databases to collect randomized controlled trials (RCT) related to dienogest, leuprolide, danazol, gestrinone, mifepristone and LNG-IUS as a follow-up treatment after fertility preserving surgery for EMT. After literature screening, data extraction and quality evaluation, effective rate, recurrence rate, pregnancy rate and adverse reaction rate were used as outcome indicators to evaluate the efficacy and safety of drugs. Evidence networks included in the study were drawn and publication bias was assessed. The drugs most likely to be the best postoperative treatment were explored through mixed comparison of different drugs and efficacy ranking. RESULT Effective rate: dienogest, leprerelin, gestrinone and LNG-IUS were better than placebo after EMT fertility preservation surgery; dienogest was superior to mifepristone and danazol. LNG-IUS is superior to danazol. LNG-IUS has the highest potential for improving the effectiveness of EMT symptoms. Recurrence rate: the application of dienogest, leuprolide, gestrinone, mifepristone and LNG-IUS after EMT fertility preservation surgery was lower than that of placebo; dienogest and LNG-IUS were lower than danazol. The recurrence rate of dinorgestrel was the last place with the highest performance. Pregnancy rate: in the cases with fertility requirements, dienogest and,leuprolide were better than placebo after EMT fertility preservation surgery; dienogest was superior to danazol, gestrinone and mifepristone. Leuprolide is superior to danazol and gestrinone. The first rank of dienogest pregnancy rate was the highest. Adverse reaction rate: the application of dienogest, leuprolide, danazol, gestrinone, mifepristone and LNG-IUS after EMT fertility preservation surgery was higher than that of placebo. After placebo, LNG-IUS had the highest adverse reaction rate. CONCLUSION For patients after fertility preserving surgery for EMT, the recurrence rate of dienogest was the last place with highest preference. The first rank of dienogest pregnancy was the highest.

Abstract
Segmental rectum resections for indications other than endometriosis were reported to result in up to 40% sexual dysfunctions. We, therefore, evaluated sexual function after low bowel resection (n = 33) for deep endometriosis in comparison with conservative excision (n = 23). Sexual function was evaluated with the FSFI-19 (Female Sexuality Functioning Index) and EHP 30 (Endometriosis Health Profile). The pain was evaluated with visual analogue scales. Linear excision and bowel resections improved FSFI, EHP 30, and postoperative pain comparably. By univariate analysis, a decreased sexual function was strongly associated with pain both before (p < 0.0001) and after surgery (p = 0.0012), age (p = 0.05), and duration of surgery (p = 0.023). By multivariate analysis (proc logistic), the FSFI after surgery was predicted only by FSFI before or EHP after surgery. No differences were found between low bowel segmental resection and a more conservative excision. In conclusion, improving pain after surgery can explain the improvement in sexual function. A deleterious effect of a bowel resection on sexual function was not observed for endometriosis. Sexual function in women with endometriosis can be evaluated using a simplified questionnaire such as FSFI-6.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Endometriosis mainly occurs in female pelvic organs. Endometriosis in the kidney is extremely rare. CASE PRESENTATION We herein describe a case of a 19-year-old girl with occasional mild abdominal pain associated with an ectopic left kidney. SPECT-CT showed no abnormal radioactive distribution in the left pelvis, suggesting loss of function of the ectopic kidney. Laparoscopic left ectopic kidney resection was subsequently performed. Histopathology revealed endometriosis of the ectopic left kidney. CONCLUSIONS In female patients with clinical manifestations of abdominal pain and gross hematuria, the possibility of renal endometriosis should be considered.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Endometriosis is a crippling, ongoing, chronic inflammatory condition. The management of these patients has been impacted by the current COVID-19 pandemic, which is still controversial. This study compared the clinical therapy outcomes and psychological scores between before and during- the epidemic. METHOD The data of patients who were diagnosed with endometriosis in the Department of Gynecology, Chongqing Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital from January 2018 to December 2022 were collected. The patients were divided into pre- and intra-COVID groups. The treatment results and psychological status of the two groups were compared. RESULTS A total of 1022 patients with endometriosis were enrolled, with a mean age of 33.16 ± 9.81 years and a BMI of 23.90 ± 3.04 kg/m2, of which 434 cases (434/1022, 42.5%) were in the pre-COVID group and 588 cases (588/1022, 57.5%) in the intra-COVID group. Both groups were well balanced for age, BMI, history of abdominopelvic surgery, family relationships, education level, and duration between initial diagnosis and admission. Compared to the Pre-COVID group, the intra-COVID group had a higher proportion of patients with chronic pelvic pain (297/434, 68.4% vs. 447/588, 76.0%, p = 0.007) and dysmenorrhea (249/434, 62.8% vs. 402/588, 70.0%, p < 0.001), more patients requiring surgery (93/434, 21.4% vs. 178/588, 30.3%, p = 0.002) and longer hospital stays (5.82 ± 2.24 days vs. 7.71 ± 2.15 days, p < 0.001). A total of 830 questionnaires were completed. In the Intra-COVID group, PHQ-2 (2 (2, 3) vs. 3 (2,4), p < 0.001), GAD-2 (2 (1, 2) vs. 3 (2, 3), p < 0.001), PHQ-4 (4 (3, 5) vs. 5 (4, 7), EHP-5 (20.26 ± 6.05 vs. 28.08 ± 7.95, p < 0.001) scores were higher than that in the pre-COVID group, while BRS (3.0 (2.2, 4.0) vs. 2.4 (1.8, 3.8), p = 0.470) were not significantly different. CONCLUSION During the COVID-19 epidemic, patients with endometriosis may have reduced visits to the hospital, more severe related symptoms, longer length of hospital stays, and worse quality of life, with the possible cause being a disturbance in hormone levels through increased anxiety and depression. This provides a valid clinical basis for optimizing the management of patients with endometriosis and for early psychological intervention during the epidemic.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE This study aimed to determine the quality of life (QOL), in patients with endometriosis ± infertility (B and C groups) and compare those to healthy women, and also infertile groups without endometriosis as a control groups (A and D), considering the fact that endometriosis and infertility reduces the quality of life in patients. METHODS The present prospective comparative study was carried out between January 2018 and September 2020. A total of 400 women were included (100 women in each group). The participants filled in a validated questionnaire of quality of life, Endometriosis Health Profile-30 (EHP-30), and a visual analog scale of pain used, at the first visit, and 3 months after the medical or surgical treatment in the endometriosis group without infertility, additionally. RESULTS The majority of the patients were married, categorized in the middle-class of socio-economic state and housewives. They were of Persian descent. BMI was high in the infertile groups; however, the time of infertility was not different between the two groups of B and C (P = 0.054). The mean score of QOL was significantly lower in B, C, and D groups in comparison to the healthy women as the control group (A) (P < 0.001). Moreover, the infertile group (B), in comparison to endometriosis ± infertility groups (C and D), had the lowest mean score of QOL (P < 0.001). In each group, those who were older and had better educational level reported a better quality of life than other participants in that group. Social support plays a very important role in reducing the endometriosis related pain symptoms both before and after treatment. Three months after the treatment of endometriosis (D), a significant improvement was observed in all the aspects of QOL-related endometriosis. Nonetheless, the improvement of the quality of life in the surgical group was significantly higher than that in the medical treatment. The mean visual analog score of pain decreased from 62.22 ± 22.78, to 5.15 ± 2.73 following the surgical treatment (P < 0.001). CONCLUSION The lowest quality of life belonged to the infertile group, followed by the endometriosis group. The quality of life of the endometriosis group improved after the treatment. Thus, endometriotic patients' treatment in terms of improvement of quality of life should be considered by all professional health care teams.

Abstract
The main aim of the study was to evaluate severe post-operative complications following deep endometriosis surgery in a tertiary referral centre. This is a retrospective cohort study that included women who had surgery for deep infiltrating endometriosis between 1st January 2013 and 31st December 2019. Endometriosis was diagnosed based on clinical, imaging and histological parameters. We evaluated the rates of post-operative complications, potential risk factors for such complications and postoperative pregnancy rates. A total of 165 patients were included in the final analysis. The median follow-up was 63 (25-106) months. Thirty-seven patients (22.42%) had hysterectomy, 60 (36.81%) had ureterolysis and 44 (26.67%) had colorectal surgery. The overall and severe rates of post-operative complications were 16.20% (n = 23) and 2.42% (n = 4) respectively. Of the variables assessed, operative time and age were the only statistically significant risk factor for complications on multivariate analysis. Among women operated on for infertility, 34.5% (n = 20/58) got pregnant following surgery with 30% of these spontaneously. This study demonstrates acceptable overall and severe post-operative complications and pregnancy rates after deep endometriosis surgery. This information should help clinicians when counselling women to enable them making an informed choice about their management.

Abstract
Abstract
Background
Intestinal obstruction caused by endometriosis maybe easily misdiagnosed as a tumor or other occupying disease in emergency condition. How to deal with it depending on the clarity of the preoperative diagnosis and the experience of the surgeon.
Case presentation
A 47-year-old woman, admitted to our emergency service with abdominal pain and distension for 5 days, anal stop exhausting and defecating for 3 days. Based on imaging and laboratory examination, we made a preoperative diagnosis of rectal endometriosis probably. After 7 days of colon decompression with a intestinal obstruction catheter, an operation of laparoscopic partial rectal and sigmoid resection without protective stoma and total hysterectomy was performed successfully. The patient obtained a smooth postoperative course and doing well after 12-weeks follow up.
Conclusions
Obstruction caused by rectal endometriosis is very rare and easily overlooked by surgeon and gynecologist. Appropriate preoperative diagnosis and preoperative management can reduce the trauma and incidence of complications.

Abstract
Anhedonia is the diminished motivation and sensitivity to pleasurable stimuli. It has been reported to be more prevalent in patients with chronic pain as compared to healthy controls. Endometriosis is a chronic inflammatory systemic disease with a significant psychosocial impact that compromises wellbeing and the day-to-day life of patients. Women with endometriosis show significant psychological distress, even more pervasive when chronic pelvic pain is present. In the current review we will discuss the role of anhedonia in endometriotic chronic pelvic pain. We will also present new lines of research that could lead to more fully clarifying the psychological impact of endometriosis and its detrimental repercussions to quality of life and mental health.

Abstract
ObjectiveThis study aims to evaluate the factors associated with complications and long-term results in the surgical treatment of intestinal deep endometriosis and to figure out the optimized treatment measures for bowel endometriosis.MethodsA retrospective study was performed in a single center in China. Medical charts were reviewed from 61 women undergoing surgical treatment for bowel endometriosis between January 2013 and August 2019 in the Department of General Gynecology, Women’s Hospital School of Medicine Zhejiang University. Multivariate regression analysis was utilized to investigate the impact of the stages of endometriosis and surgical steps (independent risk factors) on complications (and postoperative bowel dysfunction). The clinical characters, surgical procedures, postoperative treatment, complications, and recurrence rate were summarized and analyzed by using Lasso regression.ResultsSurgery type was the most important independent risk factor related to postoperative abnormal defecation in intestinal deep endometriosis patients (P < 0.05, OR = 34.133). Infection is the most important independent risk factor related to both postoperative complications (OR = 96.931) and recurrences after conservative surgery (OR = 4.667). Surgery type and age were significantly related to recurrences after conservative surgery.ConclusionsWe recommended conservative operation especially full-thickness disc excision to improve the quality of life of intestinal deep endometriosis patients. In addition, prevention of infection is very important to reduce the postoperative complications rate and the recurrence rate.

Abstract
Background Endometriosis is a condition associated with pelvic pain, infertility, and possibly with decreased quality of life as well as psychiatric disorder. The purpose of our study was to evaluate the association between pain characteristic, psychiatric disorder, and quality of life in women with endometriosis. Methods A cross-sectional study was done involving 160 women with medical diagnosis of endometriosis. Pain intensity was evaluated using Visual Analog Scale (VAS), Quality of Life with Endometriosis Health Profile (EHP-30), and psychologic condition with Mini International Neuropsychiatric Interview International Classification of Diseases (Mini-ICD). Results VAS and psychiatric disorder were associated with higher EHP-30 score (β = 9.3 (95% CI: 7.15–11.45; p < 0.001 and β = 28.51 (95% CI: 20.06–36.05; p < 0.001), respectively) and hence, lower quality of life. The strongest correlation between VAS and EHP-30 was in pain (r=0.586; p<0.001) and ‘control and powerlessness’ (r = 0.583; p < 0.001). VAS was also higher in subjects with depression (49.5 (25.4–77.8) vs 34.4 (6.1–74.6); p < 0.001). Conclusion We conclude that severe endometriosis-related pain and the presence of psychiatric disorder were associated with lower quality of life. Comprehensive management of endometriosis is crucial to improve patients’ quality of life.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To assess the association between sonographic findings at transperineal ultrasound (TPU) and chronic constipation (CC) in women with endometriosis. METHODS An observational prospective cohort study was performed by enrolling all endometriosis women scheduled for surgery between September 2019 and October 2020. Women underwent TPU at rest and during Valsalva maneuver evaluating levator-hiatal-area (LHA), antero-posterior diameter (APD), levator-ani muscle (LAM)-coactivation. Ultrasound findings were compared between women with and without CC in the whole study population, and subsequently in two subgroups [only ovarian and deep infiltrating endometriosis (DIE)]. RESULTS 87 women were enrolled: 29 (33%) with CC and 58 (67%) without CC. Women with endometriosis and CC showed a smaller LHA during Valsalva, less LHA and APD enlargement from rest to maximum Valsalva, a higher prevalence of LAM-coactivation compared to women without CC. In ovarian-subgroup, women with CC had smaller LHA at Valsalva, less enlargement of LHA and APD from rest to maximum Valsalva and higher prevalence of LAM-coactivation compared to non-CC patients. In DIE-subgroup, TPU did not significantly differ between CC and non-CC patients. CONCLUSION TPU signs of pelvic floor muscle hypertone are more frequent in endometriosis patients with CC compared to those without constipation, particularly in women affected by isolated ovarian endometriosis.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To evaluate the functional outcomes of nerve-sparing surgery for deep infiltrating endometriosis (DIE) with or without postero-lateral parametrectomy. METHODS A multicenter, observational, retrospective, cohort study was performed including all symptomatic women who underwent nerve-sparing laparoscopic excision of DIE and preoperative and postoperative assessment of functional outcomes through validated questionnaires between April 2019 and March 2020. Women with postero-lateral parametrial DIE (P-group) and women with no parametrial involvement (NP-group) were compared in term of preoperative and postoperative: functional outcomes related to pelvic organs assessed through validated questionnaires (KESS and GIQLI for bowel function, BFLUTS for urinary function, and FSFI for sexual function); pain symptoms at 3-month follow-up assessed through a 11-points Visual Analogue Scales (VAS) for dyschezia, dysmenorrhea, dyspareunia and chronic pelvic pain; surgical outcomes; rate of urinary voiding dysfunction at 3-month follow-up. RESULTS One-hundred patients were included: 69 in the P-group and 31 in the NP-group. Preoperative and postoperative values of questionnaires, pain symptoms and postoperative complications rates were comparable between the two groups, except for postoperative dyspareunia and sexual dysfunction, which were statistically higher in the P-group. Only patients in the P-group experienced urinary voiding dysfunction, but no statistical significance was reached (p=.173). CONCLUSION Postero-lateral parametrectomy for DIE appears associated to a higher risk of post-operative dyspareunia and sexual dysfunction.

Abstract
Background and Objective: In recent years, 3D printing has been used to support surgical planning or to guide intraoperative procedures in various surgical specialties. An improvement in surgical planning for recto-sigmoid endometriosis (RSE) excision might reduce the high complication rate related to this challenging surgery. The aim of this study was to build novel presurgical 3D models of RSE nodules from magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and compare them with intraoperative findings. Materials and Methods: A single-center, observational, prospective, cohort, pilot study was performed by enrolling consecutive symptomatic women scheduled for minimally invasive surgery for RSE between November 2019 and June 2020 at our institution. Preoperative MRI were used for building 3D models of RSE nodules and surrounding pelvic organs. 3D models were examined during multi-disciplinary preoperative planning, focusing especially on three domains: degree of bowel stenosis, nodule’s circumferential extension, and bowel angulation induced by the RSE nodule. After surgery, the surgeon was asked to subjectively evaluate the correlation of the 3D model with the intra-operative findings and to express his evaluation as “no correlation”, “low correlation”, or “high correlation” referring to the three described domains. Results: seven women were enrolled and 3D anatomical virtual models of RSE nodules and surrounding pelvic organs were generated. In all cases, surgeons reported a subjective “high correlation” with the surgical findings. Conclusion: Presurgical 3D models could be a feasible and useful tool to support surgical planning in women with recto-sigmoidal endometriotic involvement, appearing closely related to intraoperative findings.

Abstract
STUDY OBJECTIVE To assess if deep endometriosis surgery affects the bladder function. DESIGN Prospective multicenter observational study (Canadian Task Force classification II-2). SETTING Academic researches centers. PATIENTS Thirty-two patients with diagnosis of deep endometriosis requiring surgery. INTERVENTIONS Women were evaluated with urodynamic studies, ICIQ-UI SF and ICIQ-OAB questionnaires before and 3 months after surgery. MEASUREMENTS AND MAIN RESULTS The main outcome measure was the impact of deep endometriosis surgery on urodynamic parameters. All cystomanometric parameters showed an improvement postoperatively: in particular, the first desire to void (120 vs 204 ml, p<0.001) and the bladder capacity (358 vs 409 ml, p=0.011) increased significantly after surgery. Of the uroflow parameters, the maximal voiding flow improved significantly postoperatively (19 vs 25 ml/sec, p=0.026). The ICIQ-UI SF (2.5 vs 0, p=0.0005) and ICIQ-OAB (4.3 vs 1.2, p<0.001) questionnaires showed a significant postoperative improvement too. CONCLUSIONS Our data show that in a selected population of patients with DE (not requiring bowel or urethral resection), the bladder function improves after surgery, both during filling and on voiding urodynamic phases. Postoperatively, patients with DE become aware of bladder filling later, have a higher bladder capacity and have a higher maximal flow. The postoperative urodynamic results are corroborated by the improved scores on the bladder questionnaires.

Abstract
Introduction A current challenge for endometriosis surgery is to correctly identify the localizations of disease, especially when small or hidden (occult endometriosis), and to exactly define their real extension. The use of near-infrared radiation imaging (NIR) after injection of indocyanine green (ICG) represents one of the most encouraging method. The aim of this study is to assess the diagnostic value of NIR-ICG imaging in the surgical treatment of endometriosis compared with the standard of treatment. Material and Methods The Gre-Endo trial is a prospective, single-arm study (NCT03332004). After exploring the operatory field using the white light (WL) mode, patients were injected with ICG and then observed in NIR mode. All suspected areas were classified and chronicled according to lesions visualized only in WL, NIR-ICG, or in the combination of both. Lesion not visualized in WL was considered as suspect occult lesion (s-OcL). In addition, a random control biopsy from an apparent negative peritoneum visualized in WL and NIR-ICG imaging was taken for all patients (control cases). All lesions removed were considered “suspect endometriosis” until pathology. Results Fifty-one patients were enrolled between January 2016 and October 2019. A total of 240 suspected lesions have been identified with both methods (WL + NIR-ICG). Two hundred and seven (86.2%) lesions out of the overall 240 were visualized with WL imaging, and 200 were confirmed to be pathologic (true positive for WL). The remaining 33/240 (13.75%) (false negative for WL) lesions were identified only with NIR-ICG imaging and collected as s-OcL. All 33 s-OcLs removed were confirmed to be pathologic (c-OcL = 100%). NIR-ICG vision showed PPV of 98.5%, NPV of 87.1%, Se of 87%, and Sp of 98.5%, confirming that this kind of imaging is an excellent diagnostic and screening test (p = 0.001 and p = 0.835, according to McNemar’s and Cohen’s kappa tests, respectively). Conclusions The use of NIR-ICG vision alone and combined with WL showed good results in intraoperative detection rate and fluorescence-guided surgery of endometriosis. Furthermore, NIR-ICG allowed surgeons to remove occult lesions that otherwise would remain, leading to possible greater postoperative pain and a higher risk of persistence and relapse.

Abstract
Endometriosis is a “mysterious” disease and its exact cause has not yet been established. Among the etiological factors, congenital, environmental, epigenetic, autoimmune and allergic factors are listed. It is believed that the primary mechanism of the formation of endometriosis foci is retrograde menstruation, i.e., the passage of menstrual blood through the fallopian tubes into the peritoneal cavity and implantation of exfoliated endometrial cells. However, since this mechanism is also observed in healthy women, other factors must also be involved in the formation of endometriosis foci. Endometriosis is in many women the cause of infertility, chronic pain and the deterioration of the quality of life. It also represents a significant financial burden on health systems. The article presents a review of the literature on endometriosis—a disease affecting women throughout the world.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE This study aimed to compare outcomes of mini-invasive surgical treatment of endometriosis, especially conventional laparoscopy with robotic-assisted laparoscopy, and to evaluate the quality of life. METHODS One hundred three consecutive patients with endometriosis who had surgery from 2014 to 2017 owing to an indication of pain were enrolled in this retrospective study. The majority (n = 77, 75%) of patients underwent conventional laparoscopy and 18 (17%) had robotic-assisted laparoscopy. The quality of life was postoperatively assessed with a questionnaire. RESULTS The rates of parametrectomy (76% vs. 45%,) and rectovaginal resection (28% vs. 4%) were significantly higher in robotic-assisted laparoscopy than in laparoscopy. Additionally, the rate of bowel operations (50% vs. 17%), especially the shaving technique, was higher in robotic-assisted laparoscopy surgery than in laparoscopy (39% vs. 8%). There was no difference in the rate of postoperative complications between laparoscopy and robotic-assisted laparoscopy. Most (91%) of the patients who answered the questionnaire felt that surgical treatment had relieved their pain. In the laparoscopic and robotic-assisted groups, 88% of respondents felt that their quality of life had improved after surgery. CONCLUSIONS This study suggests that robotic-assisted laparoscopy is a feasible method to resect deep infiltrating endometriosis, especially in the rectosigmoid area.

Abstract
STUDY OBJECTIVE To assess the accuracy of C-reactive protein (CRP) in predicting early postoperative complications in patients undergoing elective laparoscopic shaving for rectosigmoid deep infiltrating endometriosis (DIE). DESIGN A single-center observational retrospective cohort study. SETTING Third-level referral center for endometriosis. PATIENTS A total of 294 patients were included in the study. All of them underwent elective laparoscopic shaving for rectosigmoid DIE. INTERVENTIONS Postoperative CRP levels (assessed from day 3 onward, every 48 hours, until hospital discharge) and early postoperative complications were reviewed to assess CRP as a predictive marker of postoperative complications. MEASUREMENTS AND MAIN RESULTS The study outcomes were the association between early postoperative complications and CRP levels, the optimal CRP cutoff, and its predictive accuracy. Twenty-five patients (8.5%) experienced early postoperative complications. Five patients with postoperative complications within 2 days of surgery were excluded from the analysis. On postoperative day 3 the difference in the means of CRP levels between patients with and without complications was 2.5 mg/dL (95% CI, 1.0-4.1), whereas on day 5 the difference was 5.3 mg/dL (95% CI, 3.3-7.5), with a significant increase of 2.8 mg/dL (95% CI, 0.2-5.5). On postoperative day 7 the difference was 11.4 mg/dL (95% CI, 8.2-14.6), with an increase of 6.1 mg/dL (95% CI, 2.2-9.9) from day 5. The mean CRP level in the group with complications showed an increase of 1.2 mg/dL (95% CI, -1.3 to 3.8) from day 3 to day 5 and of 6.2 mg/dL (95% CI, 2.6-9.8) from day 5 to day 7. The optimal cutoff for the CRP level in predicting early postoperative complications was 3.1 mg/dL on postoperative day 3 and 5.2 mg/dL on postoperative day 5, with a sensitivity of 87.5% (95% CI, 52.9-97.8) and 80% (95% CI, 37.6-96.4), a specificity of 62.5% (95% CI, 52.1-71.9) and 91.2% (95% CI, 81.1-96.2), a positive predictive value of 17.5% (95% CI, 8.7-31.9) and 44.4% (95% CI, 18.9-73.3), a negative predictive value of 98.2% (95% CI, 90.6-99.7) and 98.1% (95% CI, 90.1-99.7), and an area under the receiver operating characteristic curve of 75.0% (95% CI, 61.9-80.1) and 85.6% (95% CI, 74.1-96.5), respectively. CONCLUSION CRP on postoperative day 5 seemed to be a moderately accurate predictive marker of early postoperative complications in the patients who had undergone elective laparoscopic shaving for rectosigmoid DIE.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION Robot-assisted laparoscopic surgery (RALS) has gained widespread application in several surgical specialties. Previous studies on the feasibility and safety of RALS vs standard laparoscopy (S-LPS) for rectosigmoid endometriosis are limited and reported conflicting data. This study aims to compare S-LPS and RALS in patients with rectosigmoid endometriosis in terms of perioperative surgical and clinical data. MATERIAL AND METHODS This is a multicentric, observational, prospective cohort study including 44 patients affected by rectosigmoid endometriosis referred to two tertiary referral centers for endometriosis from September 2018 to September 2019. Patients were divided into two groups: 22 patients underwent S-LPS, and 22 underwent RALS. Our primary outcome was to compare operative time (from skin incision to suture) between the two groups. Secondary outcomes included: operative room time (patient entry into operative room and patient out), estimated blood loss, laparotomic conversion rate, length of hospital stay, perioperative complications, and evaluation of endometriosis-related symptoms at 12-month follow up. RESULTS The two groups were comparable regarding preoperative and surgical data, except for higher rates of hysterectomies and bilateral uterosacral ligament removal procedures in the RALS group. Also after adjusting for these discrepancies, operative time was similar between S-LPS and RALS. Operative room time was statistically longer in the RALS group compared with that of S-LPS. No statistically significant difference was found concerning other study outcomes. Pain and bowel symptoms improved in both groups at 12-month follow up. CONCLUSIONS If performed by expert teams, RALS provides similar perioperative outcomes compared with S-LPS in rectosigmoid endometriosis surgical treatment, except for longer operative room time.

Abstract
STUDY OBJECTIVE To evaluate feasibility of near-infrared (NIR)-indocyanine green (ICG) imaging for bowel vascularization assessment after full-thickness bowel resection for rectosigmoid endometriosis (RSE). DESIGN This is a prospective, single-center, preliminary study on consecutive patients who were symptomatic submitted to discoid or segmental resection for RSE and NIR-ICG evaluation for vascular assessment of the anastomotic line from May 2018 to January 2020. SETTING Tertiary university hospital. PATIENTS Thirty-two women with RSE meeting eligibility criteria were included for study analysis. INTERVENTIONS NIR-ICG evaluation of anastomotic line vascularization after RSE removal. MEASUREMENTS AND MAIN RESULTS Fluorescence degree of the anastomotic line was assessed with a 0 to 2 Likert scale, as follows: 0 or "absent" (no fluorescence observed), 1 or "irregular" (not uniform distribution or weak fluorescence), and 2 or "regular" (uniform distribution of fluorescence and similar to the proximal colon). In all the patients included in the study (100%), NIR-ICG imaging allowed the evaluation of fluorescence degree of the anastomotic line. No adverse reaction related to ICG use was recorded. The protocol did not greatly lengthen operating time (median, 4 [range, 3-5] minutes). Excellent interoperator agreement was observed. Most of the patients (31 of 32, 96.9%) showed regular fluorescence on the anastomotic line; in 1 patient with irregular fluorescence at NIR-ICG after discoid excision, the anastomotic suture was reinforced through interrupted stitches. We had 1 case of anastomotic leakage after segmental resection with intraoperative good fluorescence at NIR-ICG evaluation. CONCLUSION NIR-ICG imaging for anastomotic perfusion assessment after discoid or segmental resection for RSE seems to be a feasible, safe, and reproducible method.

Abstract
BACKGROUND The objective of this study is to characterize participants in a laparoscopic cadaveric neuroanatomy course and assess knowledge of pelvic neuroanatomy before and after this course. METHODS This is a survey-based cohort study with a setting in a university educational facility. The participants are surgeons in a multiday laparoscopic cadaveric pelvic neuroanatomy course. Participants completed a precourse survey, including demographics and comfort with laparoscopic surgery. They then completed an identical precourse and postcourse anatomic knowledge test. Main outcomes are scores on the anatomic knowledge test precourse and postcourse. RESULTS 44 respondents were included: 25 completed fellowship, 15 completed residency, 2 were residents, and 2 were fellows. Participants were on average 11.09 years post training, with an average of 8.67 years from training if they completed fellowship and 18.62 years if they completed residency only. 22 of 42 respondents strongly agreed or agreed they are comfortable performing complex laparoscopic hysterectomies. The average precourse score was 32.18/50 points and the mean difference score (MDS, defined as mean of Postcourse scores minus Precourse scores) was 9.80, showing significant improvement (p < 0.001). Precourse and MDS scores were not significantly different when comparing country of practice, level of training, or time since training. CONCLUSION Baseline knowledge of pelvic neuroanatomy was similar among groups when comparing fellowship status, place of training, or time since training. There was significant improvement in knowledge after training in this dissection method. This course garnered interest from surgeons with broad training backgrounds.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE This study evaluated changes in voiding function at 3 months and 1 year after transvaginal mesh (TVM) repair in women with advanced anterior vaginal prolapse (AVP) and identified predictive risk factors of postoperative voiding dysfunction (PVD). STUDY DESIGN Women with stage≥3 AVP who underwent TVM repair surgery were included in this retrospective cohort study. Voiding dysfunction was defined as an average flow rate (Qave)<10 ml/s, a maximum flow rate (Qmax)<15 ml/s, or a postvoid residual volume (PVR)>50 ml. Pre- and postoperative voiding function was assessed by uroflowmetry, PVR examination, and the Urinary Distress Inventory-6 (UDI-6) and the Urinary Impact Questionnaire-7 (UIQ-7). Statistical analyses were performed using paired-sample t tests, χ2 tests, and multivariate logistic regression. RESULTS Sixty-two women were included in this study, uroflowmetry data were available for 35 of them at 1-year follow-up. Forty-three percent of women showed evidence of voiding dysfunction preoperatively. The PVR decreased significantly from baseline to 1 year postoperatively (17.97 ± 38.48 vs. 0.00 ± 0.00, p < 0.001). Voiding difficulties decreased significantly postoperatively (55 % vs. 5%, p<0.001); frequency, urgency and urinary incontinence symptoms did not exhibit significant improvement (p>0.05). The UDI-6 and UIQ-7 indicated significant improvement postoperatively (both p<0.001). Multivariate analysis identified low Qave as an independent predictor of PVD (odds ratio, 0.40; 95 % CI, 0.16-0.98). CONCLUSION Nearly half of the patients had advanced AVP accompanied by preoperative voiding dysfunction. Improvement in voiding function was observed at 3 months and could last for one year postoperatively.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION Endometriosis is a very common disease that affects up to 10% of the female population. The use of indocyanine green (ICG) dye has been proposed to allow the proper localization of endometriotic lesions during surgery. Our purpose is to offer an overview of near-infrared (NIR)-ICG in the surgical treatment of superficial peritoneal endometriosis and deep infiltrating endometriosis. MATERIAL AND METHODS Electronic databases were searched, including MEDLINE, Embase, Web of Science, Scopus, ClinicalTrial.gov, OVID and Cochrane Library. The studies were identified with the use of a mesh combination of the following keywords: "indocyanine green", "endometriosis", "deep endometriosis", "robotic surgery", "laparoscopy", "ureter", "rectosigmoid" from 2000 to May 2020. All articles describing the use of ICG applied to endometriosis surgery were considered for review. Only original papers that reported specific experience data on the topic were included. Moreover, video-articles were included in the analysis. Quality and risk of bias were evaluated by two authors, respectively. RESULTS Fifty-three studies were reviewed and reviews or comment articles not reporting original data and original articles lacking specific data on the application of ICG in patients affected by endometriosis were excluded. The quality of the 17 studies included was assessed. Eight studies suggested the usefulness of NIR-ICG as a tool in the detection of endometriosis during surgery, and one randomized controlled trial and one prospective study did not confirm the advantage of its use. Eight studies found that NIR-ICG was useful for the evaluation of vascularization in intestinal anastomoses and ureterolysis after surgery for deep infiltrating endometriosis. CONCLUSIONS NIR-ICG appears useful in the evaluation of vascularization in intestinal anastomoses after segmental resection, confirming its role even after ureterolysis for parametrial deep infiltrating endometriosis. However, its usefulness as a tool in the detection of endometriosis during surgery is inconsistent.

Abstract
Background Laparoscopy has become the standard of care in the surgical management of deep infiltrating endometriosis (DIE). However, it is a challenging procedure with a high complication rate. Despite the benefits of the minimally invasive approach, DIE resection is often performed by surgeons without adequate training, especially in developing countries like Chile. Objective To asses our experience in the diagnosis and laparoscopic management of DIE during seven years. Methods A retrospective cohort study of data including 137 patients with pathology-proven DIE. Surgical and fertility outcomes were evaluated. Results All procedures were performed laparoscopically without conversion. Dysmenorrhea and dyspareunia were the most common symptoms in 85.4% and 56.9%, respectively. Uterosacral ligaments were the most common DIE location. Endometrioma was present in 48.9% of cases. Median operative time was 140 minutes; however, it was longer in cases requiring bowel surgery (p < 0.0001). The complication rate was 10.9%. Median follow-up was 24.5 months. The pregnancy rate was 58.1% and 90% of patients reported significant symptom relief after surgery. Conclusion Laparoscopic surgical management of DIE is effective and safe but it must be performed in tertiary centers with the availability of multidisciplinary teams.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION AND HYPOTHESIS Posterior deep infiltrating endometriosis (DIE) has been associated with pelvic floor muscle (PFM) alteration and voiding dysfunction (VD). The aim of this study is to evaluate the correlation between the presence of VD and altered PFM morphometry, objectively evaluated using 3D/4D transperineal ultrasound at rest and during dynamic maneuvers, in patients with posterior DIE. METHODS A prospective study was conducted on 108 symptomatic women scheduled for surgical removal of posterior DIE. The study population was divided in two groups according to presence or absence of VD on the Bristol Female Lower Urinary Tract Symptoms (BFLUTS). A 3D/4D transperineal ultrasound was performed to compare the following PFM morphometric parameters: levator hiatus area (LHA), antero-posterior (AP) and left-right (LR) diameters and levator ani muscle (LAM) coactivation. LAM coactivation was defined as the paradoxical contraction of the pelvic floor muscle during the Valsalva maneuver causing a smaller LHA than in the resting state. RESULTS Forty-eight (45.2%) women presented VD, while 60 (54.8%) women did not report any voiding complaints. Baseline characteristics did not significantly differ between the two groups. We did not find any significant statistical differences in PFM parameters between the two groups, except for a higher rate of levator ani muscle coactivation in women with VD compared with women without VD [64.6% (31/48) versus 31.7% (19/60), respectively; p = < 0.001]. CONCLUSIONS In women affected by posterior DIE, LAM coactivation at 3D/4D transperineal ultrasound seems to be more frequent in patients with than without VD.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES Previous studies comparing women with deep infiltrating endometriosis (DIE) and healthy controls have underlined an association between pelvic floor muscle (PFM) hypertonic dysfunction and deep lesions. The aim of this study was to compare the morphometry of PFM in women affected by ovarian endometriosis with DIE vs those without DIE in order to assess the impact of retroperitoneal infiltration by the disease on PFM function. METHODS This was a prospective study conducted between March 2015 and December 2016 on symptomatic women with a clinical and sonographic diagnosis of ovarian endometriosis with or without DIE, scheduled for laparoscopic surgery. We excluded patients with current or previous pregnancy, previous surgery for deep endometriosis, other causes of chronic pelvic pain or congenital or acquired abnormalities of pelvic floor anatomy. Three- and four-dimensional transperineal ultrasound was performed to evaluate PFM morphometry and assess levator hiatal area (LHA) and diameters at rest, during PFM contraction and during Valsalva maneuver. All volumes were analyzed offline by an investigator blinded to the clinical data. RESULTS One hundred and fourteen patients with ovarian endometriosis were enrolled in the study, 75 with DIE and 39 without DIE. The diagnosis of endometriosis was confirmed by histological examination in all patients. Compared with women without DIE, women with DIE showed a smaller LHA at rest, during contraction and during Valsalva maneuver (P = 0.03, P = 0.03 and P = 0.02, respectively) and a smaller reduction in LHA during PFM contraction (P = 0.04). CONCLUSIONS Women with ovarian endometriosis who were affected by DIE showed smaller hiatal dimensions than did women without DIE. Considering that PFM dysfunction in patients with DIE could cause pain symptoms and pelvic organ dysfunction, transperineal ultrasound could allow a more complete functional assessment and tailored therapy. Abstract
CONTEXT Detrusor sphincter disorders impact quality of life in case of deep endometriosis. Surgery, which is one of the main treatments, is responsible of detrusor sphincter disorders. Since then, it is essential to look for those disorders and find the right medical care. OBJECTIVE To specify the detrusor sphincter disorders, its links with anatomical localisation of deep endometriosis and its prognosis after surgery. METHODS A literature review was carried out via PubMed® with the followings keywords: "deep endometriosis", "urinary disorders", "voiding dysfunction" and "urinary dysfunction". Prospective and retrospective studies as well as previous reviews were analyzed. RESULTS Concerning bladder deep endometriosis, detrusor sphincter disorders are observed in more than 50%. Resection of the lesions allows a clear improvement or even a disappearance of the disorders. Concerning the deep endometriosis of the posterior part of the pelvis, disorders are highlighted even if women do not complain of urinary trouble. Detrusor sphincter disorders are observed in 2 to 50% and women with colorectal localisation have the highest rate. Resection of the lesions improves the symptoms described preoperatively but also provides de novo disorders of up to 47.5%. In terms of prevention, the nerve sparing surgery respects the pelvic nerve plexus, and reduces post-operative morbidity to less than 1%. CONCLUSIONS Detrusor sphincter disorders associated with deep endometriosis have a prognosis if their management is adapted. Well-conducted interviews and standardized questionnaires is necessary to diagnosis them. Urodynamic test may be discussed in case of bladder endometriosis, including for urinary asymptomatic patients. The management of the detrusor sphincter disorders requires a complete resection of the nodules of deep endometriosis. Abstract
OBJECTIVE Pelvic floor muscle (PFM) dysfunction seems to play an important role in the pathophysiology of pelvic pain, including that associated with deep infiltrating endometriosis (DIE). The aim of this study was to evaluate the static and dynamic morphometry of the PFM using three-dimensional (3D) and four-dimensional (4D) transperineal ultrasound in women with DIE compared with asymptomatic healthy women. METHODS This was a pilot, prospective study conducted at our tertiary center between March and November 2015. Fifty nulliparous women with DIE (study group) and 35 nulliparous asymptomatic healthy women (control group) were included. 3D/4D transperineal ultrasound examination of the PFM was performed in both groups. Levator hiatal area (LHA) and anteroposterior and left-right transverse diameters were evaluated at rest, on maximum PFM contraction and on maximum Valsalva maneuver. Persistent levator ani muscle (LAM) coactivation during Valsalva maneuver was investigated. RESULTS Compared with the control group, women with DIE had a smaller LHA at rest (P = 0.03) and during Valsalva maneuver (P < 0.01). Furthermore, reduction in LHA during PFM contraction (P < 0.001) and enlargement in LHA during Valsalva maneuver (P = 0.01) were significantly less marked. In comparison with controls, women with DIE presented a higher frequency of LAM coactivation during Valsalva maneuver, although this difference did not reach statistical significance (P = 0.05). CONCLUSIONS 3D and 4D transperineal ultrasound is an objective and non-invasive method for PFM morphometry and may have a role in detecting PFM dysfunction in women with DIE. Copyright © 2016 ISUOG. Abstract
Clear cell thymic carcinoma is a rare and invasive tumor of the mediastinum for which there are no uniform treatment guidelines. The combination of carboplatin plus paclitaxel seems to be the most effective regimen for this disease. We report a case of locally advanced clear cell thymic carcinoma treated with this schedule, in which we observed a relevant and rapid tumor shrinkage.
