Asymmetric synthesis of hetero-1,2,3,4,5-pentasubstituted ferrocenes

The first synthesis of enantioenriched ferrocenes bearing five different substituents on the same cyclopentadienyl ring is described through an unprecedented asymmetric halogen 'dance' reaction. This work not only extends the chemistry of fluoroferrocene derivatives and constitutes the very first entry into the world of enantioenriched hetero-pentasubstituted ferrocenes, it also lays the foundation for research in other metallocene families.

Synthesis and optical properties of novel D–π–A–π–D type cationic cyclopentadienyliron complexes of arenes

With the enlarged and annulated ICT conjugation systems, three new cationic cyclopentadienyliron complexes exhibited significantly better third-order NLO absorption properties than the commercial cyclopentadienyliron arene complexes I-261.

Synthesis of a Peralkynylated Pyrazino[2,3-g]quinoxaline

[structure: see text] The synthesis of a hexaethynyl[2,3-g]pyrazinoquinoxaline and its crystal structure are reported. Starting from tetraaminobenzoquinone, condensation to bis(triisopropylsilyl)hexadiyne-2,3-dione affords 2,3,7,8-tetrakis(triisopropylsilylethynyl)pyrazino[2,3-g]quinoxaline-5,10-dione. Reaction with TIPS-CC-Li followed by reduction with hypophosphite in the presence of KI furnished the title molecule in a yield of 62%. Pd catalysis is not involved in any of these steps.
