Abstract
Phthalocyanines are tetrapyrrolic artificial porphyrinoids that play major roles in advanced biological and technological applications. Research on this family of dyes is particularly active in Türkiye, with many derivatives being prepared from 4,5-dihexylthiophthalonitrile DiSHexPN, which is one of the most popular noncommercially available building blocks for phthalocyanines. This review summarizes the phthalocyanines and their versatile properties and applications that have been published since 1994, when the synthesis of DiSHexPN was first described, to emphasize the importance of this building block in plentiful applications, all with biomedical or technological impact.

Abstract
Porphyrin-based molecules are actively studied as dual function theranostics: fluorescence-based imaging for diagnostics and fluorescence-guided therapeutic treatment of cancers. The intrinsic fluorescent and photodynamic properties of the bimodal molecules allows for these theranostic approaches. Several porphyrinoids bearing both hydrophilic and/or hydrophobic units at their periphery have been developed for the aforementioned applications, but better tumor selectivity and high efficacy to destroy tumor cells is always a key setback for their use. Another issue related to their effective clinical use is that, most of these chromophores form aggregates under physiological conditions. Nanomaterials that are known to possess incredible properties that cannot be achieved from their bulk systems can serve as carriers for these chromophores. Porphyrinoids, when conjugated with nanomaterials, can be enabled to perform as multifunctional nanomedicine devices. The integrated properties of these porphyrinoid-nanomaterial conjugated systems make them useful for selective drug delivery, theranostic capabilities, and multimodal bioimaging. This review highlights the use of porphyrins, chlorins, bacteriochlorins, phthalocyanines and naphthalocyanines as well as their multifunctional nanodevices in various biomedical theranostic platforms.

Abstract
4-Thiadiazole substituted phthalonitrile and peripherally tetra-substituted phthalocyanine Cu(II), Fe(II) and Ti(IV)O complexes have been synthesized for the first time. Electrochemical properties of these complexes were determined with voltammetric and in situ spectroelectrochemical measurements. CuPc has redox inactive Cu(2+) center, therefore it gave three Pc based reduction and two Pc based oxidation processes. TiOPc and FePc complexes gave metal based redox processes in addition to Pc based redox reactions due to the redox activity of Ti(4+)O and Fe(2+) metal centers. Although FePc also gave three reduction and two oxidation reactions, peak potentials of these processes are different than those of CuPc due to the different assignments of the redox reactions. TiOPc went to five reduction and one oxidation reactions. Assignments of the redox processes were carried out with in situ spectroelectrochemical measurements. Spectra and color of the electrogenerated redox species of the complexes were also determined with in situ spectroelectrochemical and in situ electrocolorimetric measurements. Distinct color differences between the electrogenerated redox species were observed, which indicated their possible electrochromic usages.
