Abstract
A series of compounds P1-P4 bearing terminal alkynyl sites connected with a phosphonium group via different π-conjugated linkers have been synthesized. The compounds themselves are efficient push-pull emitters and exhibit bright fluorescence in blue and near-UV regions. P1-P4 were used as alkynyl ligands to obtain a series of homoleptic bis-alkynyl Au(I) complexes 1-4. The complexes demonstrate bright phosphorescence and dual emission with dominating phosphorescence (2-4). Terphenyl derivative complex 3 exhibits warm white emission in DMSO solution and pure white emission in PMMA films. Time-dependent density functional theory calculations have shown that the T1 excited state has a hybrid MLCT/ILCT nature with a dominant contribution of charge transfer across a ligand-centered "D-π-A" system. The variation of linker allows tuning the effect of intermolecular charge transfer and thus changing the electronic and photophysical properties of the organogold "D-π-A" system. The results presented unambiguously display the advances of the conception of organometallic "D-π-A" construction.

Abstract
Stabilization of low oxidation gold anions as aurate or auride by organic ligands has long been a synthetic challenge, owing to the proneness of low-valent gold centres to cluster. Despite being the most electronegative metal, isolable gold(I) aurate complexes have only been obtained from a few σ-withdrawing organo- and organo-main group ligands. Stabilization of highly-reduced gold complexes by π-modulating redox active ligands has only been achieved by cyclic (amino)(alkyl)carbene (CAAC), which is limited to 1e--reduction to form neutral gold(0) complexes. This work reports a simple modular synthesis of a boron, nitrogen-containing heterocyclic carbene (ClBNC) at a gold(I) center through metal-assisted coupling between azadiboriridine and isocyanides. The anionic electrophilic ClBNC ligand in the gold(I) complex [(ClBNC)AuPMe3] (3a and 3b) allows a 2e--reduction to form the first η1-carbene aurate complex [(BNC)AuPMe3]Li(DME) (5a, DME = dimethoxyethane). Single crystal crystallographic analysis and computational studies of these complexes revealed a highly π-withdrawing character of the neutral 4π B,N-heterocyclic carbene (BNC) moiety and a 6π weakly aromatic character with π-donating properties to the gold(I) fragment in its reduced form, showcasing the first cyclic carbene ligand that allows electronic tunability between π-withdrawing (Fischer-type)- and π-donating (Schrock-type) properties.

Abstract
Two types of (acetylide)(triethylphosphine)gold(i) complexes ArCOC[triple bond, length as m-dash]CAuPEt3 (1a and 1b) and ArC[triple bond, length as m-dash]CAuPEt3 (2a and 2b) bearing Ar = pyren-1-yl or ferrocenyl group were synthesized and the effect of a carbonyl moiety on the structure, propensity to ligand scrambling in solution and luminescence properties were investigated. We found that the complexes bearing acetylenic ketone-derived ligands underwent ligand scrambling in solution to afford mixtures of ArCOC[triple bond, length as m-dash]CAuPEt3 and [(ArCOC[triple bond, length as m-dash]C)2Au]-[Au(PEt3)2]+. The latter complexes were isolated and their structures were confirmed by single crystal X-ray diffraction studies. The aurophilic interaction of AuAu in these complexes resulted in the formation of wire-like structures.
