Abstract
Two series of lanthanoid (Ln)-containing polyoxometalates (POMs) {[Ln6(ampH)4(H2O)24-n(ampH2)n(PW11O39)2]·21H2O (Ln = Tb, n = 0 (1), Ln = Er, n = 1 (2)) and K2[Ln6(ampH)4(H2O)22(SiW11O39)2]·23H2O (Ln = Tb (3), Er (4)) (ampH2 = (aminomethyl) phosphonic acid)} have been synthesized with tri-lacunary Keggin-type POMs containing different types of heteroatoms. Compounds 1 and 2 display neutral organic-inorganic hybrid POM molecules containing {Ln6(ampH)4} ({Ln6}) cores sandwiched by two {PW11O39} units. By changing the heteroatoms from PV to SiIV, the extended 2D networks of 3 and 4 were successfully isolated where the adjacent {Ln6} clusters were connected by {SiW11O39} moieties. Luminescence performances and magnetic properties of 1-4 have been systematically surveyed. The solid-state fluorescence spectra of 1-4 display characteristic emissions of Ln components resulting from the 4f-4f transitions, and energy transfer from the POM segments to Ln3+ centers in 1 and 3 has been observed based on the lifetime decay behaviors. Furthermore, all compounds can be utilized as electrocatalysts toward reduction of nitrite with high stability.

Abstract
Recent studies in development of near-infrared luminophores focus on overcoming their disadvantages such as low quantum efficiency, limited emission power, and broad emission spectra. Rare earth (RE) elements are promising compounds in this respect as they offer a unique set of optical properties that provide narrow emission spectra and large Stokes shifts. This work reports the results of synthesis and characterization of new anisometric complexes of lanthanide(III) tris(b-diketonates) and 1,10-phenanthroline. These complexes possess light emitting-properties in the near-infrared range. Due to their structural features, these complexes allow production of homogeneous films by spin coating. These films are transparent in the visible and near-infrared ranges (transmission up to 99%). This paper demonstrates advantages of Yb(III), Er(III), and Nd(III) complexes as potential components of highly efficient light-transforming NIR coatings.

Abstract
The synthesis, structural and photophysical characterization, and theoretical studies on homo/heteroleptic neutral 2D-layered coordination polymers (CPs), obtained by combining the ErIII ion with chlorocyananilate (ClCNAn) and/or tetrafluoroterephthalate (F4BDC) linkers, are herein reported. The structure of the heteroleptic ErIII-based CP, formulated as [Er2(ClCNAn)2(F4BDC)(DMSO)6]n (1) is also reported. 1 crystallizes in the triclinic P1̅ space group, and the structure consists of neutral 2D layers formed by ErIII ions linked through the two linkers oriented in such a way that the neighboring 2D layers are eclipsed along the a axis, leading to parallelogram-like cavities. Photophysical measurements highlight the prominent role of chlorocyananilate linkers as optical antennas toward lanthanide ions, while wave-function-theory analysis supports the experimental findings, providing evidence for the effect of ligand substitution on the luminescence properties of homo/heteroleptic 2D CPs.

Abstract
In the pursuit of broadband photodetection materials from visible to mid-IR region, the fresh three-dimensional topological insulators (3D TIs) are theoretically predicted to be a promising candidate due to its Dirac-like stable surface state and high absorption rate. In this work, a self-powered inorganic/organic heterojunction photodetector based on n-type 3D TIs Bi2Te3 combined with p-type pentacene thin film was designed and fabricated. Surprisingly, it was found that the Bi2Te3/pentacene heterojunction photodetector exhibited a fast and wideband response from 450 to 3500 nm. The optimized responsivity of photodetector reached 14.89 A/W, along with the fast response time of 1.89 ms and the ultrahigh external quantum efficiency of 2840%. Moreover, at the mid-IR 3500 nm, our devices demonstrated a responsivity of 1.55 AW-1, which was several orders of magnitude higher than that of previous 3D TIs photodetector. These excellent properties indicate that the inorganic/organic heterojunction, that is, the combination of 3D TIs with organic materials, is an exciting structure for high performance photodetectors in the wideband detection region. On account of the fact that the device is constructed on mica substrate, this work also represents a potential scenario for flexible optoelectronic devices.

Abstract
Eleven new dinuclear and tetranuclear compounds of general formulae [Zn(μ-L)(μ-X)Ln(NO3)2]·nS, [Zn2Dy2(μ3-L')2(μ-sal)2(NO3)(CH3OH)](NO3)·5CH3OH and [Zn2Er2(μ3-L')2(μ-sal)2(CH3OH)2](NO3)2·4CH3OH (X = benzoate, anthracenate, diclofenac, salicylate, 2,6-dihydroxybenzoate; Ln = Dy, Er; S = water, acetonitrile, methanol) were prepared from the N,N'-dimethyl-N,N'-bis(2-hydroxy-3-formyl-5-bromobenzyl)ethylenediamine compartmental ligand (H2L). Complexes 1-6 and 9-11 consist of diphenoxido-carboxylate triply bridged compounds, which differ mainly in the carboxylate bridging ligand. It should be noted that the acidic character of the salicylic acid promotes, in the presence of methanol, the methoxylation of the H2L ligand thereby yielding a hemiacetal H3L', which is able to connect the Ln(iii) ions of two ZnLn dinuclear units forming the Zn2Ln2 tetranuclear complexes 7 and 8. All compounds display SMM behaviour in the presence of an external field with effective energy barriers (Ueff) as high as 61 K. Magneto-structural data for these complexes reveal that their SMM behaviour is not only significantly affected by the type of Ln(iii) ion but also by the carboxylate bridging ligand connecting the Zn(ii) and Ln(iii) ions. Photoluminescence properties have also been accomplished, showing that the ligands are able to sensitize lanthanide centred emissions in the visible and near-infrared regions with variable capacity. Moreover, the analysis of the luminescence decay curves reveals emission lifetimes in the range of few microsecond or hundreds of nanoseconds for Dy(iii)-based or Er(iii)-based luminophores, respectively.

Abstract
β-Triketonates have been recently used as chelating ligands for lanthanoid ions, presenting unique structures varying from polynuclear assemblies to polymers. In an effort to overcome low solubility of the complexes of tribenzoylmethane, four β-triketones with higher lipophilicity were synthesised. Complexation reactions were performed for each of these molecules using different alkaline bases in alcoholic media. X-ray diffraction studies suggested that the ligands were undergoing decomposition under the reaction conditions. This is proposed to be caused by in situ retro-Claisen condensation reactions, consistent with two examples that have been reported previously. The lability of the lanthanoid cations in the presence of a varying set of potential ligands gave rise to structures where one, two, or three of the molecules involved in the retro-Claisen condensation reaction were linked to the lanthanoid centres. These results, along with measurements of ligand decomposition in the presence of base alone, suggest the solvent used will modulate the impact of the retro-Claisen condensation in these complexes.

Abstract
We have designed and synthesized eight isostructural 1D coordination polymers (CPs) with the general formula {[Ln(aapc)3(DMF)]}n [where Ln(iii) = Y (2), La (3), Nd (4), Eu (5), Gd (6), Tb (7), Dy (8), Er (9); and aapc = 3-((anthraquinone-1-yl)amino)propanoate]. These CPs consist of Ln-carboxylate infinite rods in which the bulky anthraquinone scaffolds arise from it in such a way that the resulting supramolecular packing exhibits isolated 1D chains. Solution structures have been corroborated through NMR methods including PGSE and EXSY NMR studies and, due to the presence of lanthanide ions, magnetic and luminescence properties have been studied. Alternating current magnetic measurements of compound 8 show slow relaxation of the magnetization, a characteristic of single molecule magnets (SMMs). The evaluation of solid-state photophysical properties reveals that the aapc scaffold sensitizes lanthanide(iii) based emission of compounds 4-9 both in the visible and near-infrared (NIR) regions at 10 K.
