Abstract
In this study, the primary objective is to synthesize a novel fluorescent Rh-PP-Rh compound and explore its extensive range of photochemical behaviors. Initially, the synthesis of the novel Rh-PP-Rh was carried out for this purpose. Subsequently, UV-Vis and fluorescence spectroscopy were employed to investigate the interactions between Rh-PP-Rh and a diverse array of ions in aqueous solvent systems. Through fluorescence and UV-Vis studies, it was observed that Rh-PP-Rh demonstrated turn-on sensor properties in the presence of Hg2+ ions. Furthermore, the limits of detection (LOD) and association constant (Ka) values for Rh-PP-Rh/Hg2+ were determined as 334 nM and 9.13×1011 M-2, respectively. Additionally, the reversible studies demonstrated a switchable on/off response upon alternate addition of HgCl2 and [Bu4N]F to Rh-PP-Rh. These findings suggest that the probe Rh-PP-Rh also possesses specific sensor properties for F- ions in the presence of mercury. In addition, the investigation encompassed an assessment of the visual analysis of the color alterations of Rh-PP-Rh both on filter paper and in an EtOH/H2O solution. The findings demonstrated that Rh-PP-Rh can be successfully utilized in solutions containing mercury, as it generates significant color transformations.

Abstract
Rational design of a molecular sensing tool is an important topic in molecular recognition, signalling, and optoelectronics that has piqued the interest of chemists, biologists, and environmental scientists. Approximately 150 years have passed since the beginning of the fluorescent chemosensor sector. Due to the paramagnetic properties of Cr3+ and Al3+ , it is tough to prepare a photoluminescence plug-in detector. Most dye-based Al3+ sensors must be utilized in organic or mixed solvents for robust hydration of Al3+ in water. The sophisticated molecular design of sensors, conversely, allows for the detection of these metal ions in aqueous medium. The design of chemosensors using various fluorophores and their mechanisms of action have been thoroughly discussed. A literature survey covering the design of chemosensors and their mechanisms of action have been thoroughly discussed covering the period 2010-2022 and that was carried out including innovative and exemplary activities from numerous groups throughout the world that have significantly contributed to this sector. The most important advantages of these probes are their aqueous solubility and quick response with outstanding selectivity and sensitivity for temporal distribution with high fidelity of metals in living cells.

Abstract
Extracellular metallic debris is deposited into the well-known 'recycle bins' of the cells named lysosomes. The accumulation of unwanted metal ions can cause dysfunction of hydrolyzing enzymes and membrane rupturing. Thus, herein, we synthesized rhodamine-acetophenone/benzaldehyde derivatives for the detection of trivalent metal ions in aqueous media. In solution, the synthesized probes exhibited a 'turn-on' colorimetric and fluorometric response upon complexation with trivalent metal ions (M3+). Mechanistically, M3+ chelation enables the appearance of a new emission band at approximately 550 nm, which verifies the disruption of the closed ring and the restoration of conjugation on the xanthene core in rhodamine 6G derivatives. Exclusive localization of the biocompatible probes at the lysosomal compartment favored the quantification of deposited Al3+. Moreover, the novelty of the work lies in the detection of Al3+ deposited in the lysosome that originated from hepatitis B vaccines, which shows their efficiency for near future in vivo applications.

Abstract
Herein we have implemented a computational approach in designing sensor molecules for the selective recognition of Cu2+ and Fe3+ ions. Seven rhodamine B hydrazide-based Schiff base derivatives were designed and analysed their chemosensing properties against Cu2+ and Fe3+ ions in ethanol solution theoretically. The theoretical calculations revealed that the selective recognition of Cu2+ and Fe3+ ions takes place via spirolactam ring-opening and there is a pivotal role of ortho substituents and N-heteroatoms. The two best chemosensors were synthesised and used for the detection of Cu2+ and Fe3+ ions by colorimetric methods.

Abstract
A well designed, new pyrene based small molecule (L) was synthesized from 1:1 condensation reaction of 1-aminopyrene and 6-(1,3-benzodioxal-5-yl)-2-pyridine carboxaldehyde which was characterized by absorption, emission spectrometry, FTIR, NMR and mass studies. Interestingly the UV-vis and fluorescence spectroscopic studies revealed that the ligand (L) works as a dual turn-on luminescent chemosensor for chromium(III) (Cr3+) and aluminium(III) (Al3+) in aqueous environment which were further supported by DFT and TDDFT studies. L shows a significant colour change from pale yellow to reddish yellow with a detection limit of ~10-9 M in the presence of Cr3+ and Al3+ whereas there were no noteworthy changes in the presence of other monovalent and divalent metal ions. The molecular signaling in the presence of Cr3+, Al3+, Fe3+ and EDTA was compared with advanced level combinational INHIBIT gate based on 4 input logic gates. Herein, first derivative constant wavelength synchronous fluorescence spectroscopy (1st DCWSFS) was applied for the determination of Cr3+, Al3+ ion concentrations in a mixture via increment of spectral resolution of the respective overlapping peaks. 1st DCWSFS is reported to be used in pharmaceuticals but very few works have been done for determination of metal ion concentration in environmental sample without prior separation. The individual Cr3+and Al3+ ion concentrations in a mixture were determined through liquid-liquid extraction process and the efficiencies were compared with 1st derivative SFS method. It was observed that 1st derivative SFS process is more efficient than conventional liquid-liquid extraction process. Therefore, 1st DCWSFS method using sensor L might be useful as a diagnostic tool for detection of individual metal ion concentrations (Cr3+ and Al3+) from a mixture which will be cost-effective, time saving and more precise.

Abstract
Iron (III) was incorporated, to the surface of a synthesized ZnO, using two nominal molar percentages of Fe (III): 1% and 5% Fe relative to ZnO. Samples dried and calcined at 200 °C and 400 °C for 2 h, were characterized by XRD, XPS, XRF, N2-adsorption-BET and (UV-vis)-DRS. Photocatalytic activities of the catalysts were assessed based on the degradation of rhodamine B (RhB) and caffeine (CAF) in aqueous solution under two irradiation conditions: UV and visible light illumination. Prior to the photocatalytic tests, the interaction of each one of the substrates with either Fe(III) or Fe(II) was studied in homogeneous medium under UV-illumination and oxygenated environment. It was found that Fe (III) can play an important role in homogeneous media in the photoassisted degradation, both of rhodamine B and caffeine, while Fe (II) does not exert a relevant role in the photoassisted degradation of the referred substrates. Fe-ZnO samples display similar or poorer performance than pure ZnO in the presence of UV light for both studied substrates. The phenomenon can be attributed to the formation of either goethite or ZnFe2O4 at the ZnO surface where the coupled Fe3+/Fe2+ can act as recombination centers for the photogenerated charges. On the contrary, all Fe-ZnO samples showed enhanced photocatalytic activity under visible illumination which seems to be independent of the iron content. In this context, the mechanisms for photoassisted degradation of both the substrates in homogeneous medium and photocatalytic degradation are discussed, as well as the role of Fe in the photodegradation processes.

Abstract
We investigated the ability of a novel triazatruxene-rhodamine-based (TAT-ROD) chemosensor to detect the trivalent metal ions aluminium (Al3+), iron (Fe3+) and chromium (Cr3+). Operating via the through-bond energy transfer (TBET) pathway, the chemosensor exhibited low detection limits of 23.0, 25.0 and 170.0 nM for Al3+, Fe3+ and Cr3+, respectively, along with high sensitivity and selectivity during a brief period (<15 s). The binding ratio of the chemosensor and trivalent metal ions achieved by Job's method was 3:1, and when we added ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (EDTA), the sensing process reversed. Altogether, our TAT-ROD chemosensor marks the first triazatruxene-based colorimetric and fluorometric metal ion sensor reported in the literature.

Abstract
Detection of copper attracts important in most environmental and biological systems. In this study, a simple probe BisPyTSC containing bis-pyrene core was synthesized, and cation binding and sensing properties were studied using colorimetric and fluorometric detection. The research indicated that the specific ligand affinity for Cu2+ ions results in drastic color and spectral changes. According to the data obtained, while the peak intensity increases at 376 nm, the peak intensity decreased at 280 nm in the absorption spectrum of BisPyTSC and an increase in fluorescence intensity of BisPyTSC was observed in the presence of Cu2+ ions. The binding ratio of BisPyTSC to Cu2+ was found to be 1:1 according to Job's plot experiments. The binding constant was calculated using the Benesi-Hildebrand equation and found to be 3.26 × 104 M-1. Based on these concentration dependent fluorescence changes, the limit of detection (LOD) value was calculated to be 14.5 μM for Cu2+, which is the range of copper that should be in the blood (11.8-23.6 μM). As a result of all these studies, we can understand that BisPyTSC is a good selective candidate turn-on sensor that can be used for Cu2+ detection.
