Abstract
Non-enzymatic glucose detection is an effective strategy to control the blood glucose level of diabetic patients. A novel hierarchical core-shell structure of nickel hydroxide shell coated copper hydroxide core based on copper foam (Ni(OH)2@Cu(OH)2-CF) was fabricated and derived from NiO@Cu2O-CF for glucose sensing. Cyclic voltammetry and amperometry experiments have demonstrated the efficient electrochemical catalysis of glucose under alkaline conditions. The measurement displays that the fabricated sensor exhibits a detection scale of 0.005-4.5 mM with a detection sensitivity of 4.67 µA/µM/cm2. It has remarkable response/recovery times in respect of 750 μM glucose (1.0 s/3.5 s). Moreover, the NiO@Cu2O-CF shows significant selectivity, reliable reproducibility and long-term stability for glucose determination, suggesting it is a suitable candidate for further applications.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Regular blood glucose monitoring is very important for diabetic patients. The composition of skin interstitial fluid (ISF) is similar to that of blood, which can be used for daily blood sugar detection and disease care. However, most methods of ISF extraction have complicated steps, may cause skin damage, and can only extract a limited amount of ISF, resulting in low detection efficiency. Therefore, it is very necessary to develop a detection method that can not only extract a large amount of ISF safely, efficiently, and conveniently, but also realize rapid detection of glucose level in ISF. RESULTS Here, we developed a gold nanoparticle (AuNP)-based swellable colorimetric MN patch with minimally invasive sampling function and real-time ISF glucose analysis ability. The MN patch could quickly absorb a large amount of skin ISF, and 60.2 mg of ISF was extracted within 10 min in vitro. It was divided into two layers: the tip layer was embedded with AuNPs with glucose oxidase (GOx)-like activity, which catalyzed the oxidation of glucose extracted from ISF and produced hydrogen peroxide (H2O2); horseradish peroxidase (HRP) encapsulated in the backing layer catalyzed the oxidation of 3, 3', 5, 5'-tetramethylbenzidine (TMB) by H2O2 to produce oxTMB, which led to a visible color shift in the backing layer. The ISF glucose level was judged by naked eyes and further quantified by color analysis with Image J software. As a result, the colorimetric MN patch successfully identified the normal blood sugar and hyperglycemia state in vivo. SIGNIFICANCE The colorimetric MN patch combined in-situ colorimetric sensing based on AuNP nanozyme with MN patch, which detected glucose level without blood drawing, increasing patients' compliance and reducing detection steps and time. Compared with the detection methods based on natural nanozymes, our method had better stability and sensitivity to complex environments (extreme pH and high temperature, etc.) in actual detection.

Abstract
Microfluidic devices are capable of handling 10-9 L to 10-18 L of fluids by incorporating tiny channels with dimensions of ten to hundreds of micrometers, and they can be fabricated using a wide range of materials including glass, silicon, polymers, paper, and cloth for tailored sensing applications. Microfluidic biosensors integrated with detection methods such as electrochemiluminescence (ECL) can be used for the diagnosis and prognosis of diseases. Coupled with ECL, these tandem devices are capable of sensing biomarkers at nanomolar to picomolar concentrations, reproducibly. Measurement at this low level of concentration makes microfluidic electrochemiluminescence (MF-ECL) devices ideal for biomarker detection in the context of early warning systems for diseases such as myocardial infarction, cancer, and others. However, the technology relies on the nature and inherent characteristics of an efficient luminophore. The luminophore typically undergoes a redox process to generate excited species which emit energy in the form of light upon relaxation to lower energy states. Therefore, in biosensor design the efficiency of the luminophore is critical. This review is focused on the integration of microfluidic devices with biosensors and using electrochemiluminescence as a detection method. We highlight the dual role of carbon quantum dots as a luminophore and co-reactant in electrochemiluminescence analysis, drawing on their unique properties that include large specific surface area, easy functionalization, and unique luminescent properties.

Abstract
In this work, a novel electrochemiluminescence (ECL) sensor has been developed to detect the miRNA-522 in the tumor tissues of triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) patients. Au NPs/Zn MOF heterostructure was obtained by in situ growth and used as novel luminescence probe. Firstly, zinc-metal organic framework nanosheets (Zn MOF NSs) were synthesized with Zn2+ as the central metal ion and 2-aminoterephthalic acid (NH2-BDC) as the ligand. 2D MOF nanosheets with ultra-thin layered structure and relatively large specific surface areas can enhance the catalytic activity in the ECL generation. Furthermore, the electron transfer capacity and the electrochemical active surface area of MOF were greatly improved by the growth of Au NPs. Therefore, Au NPs/Zn MOF heterostructure showed the significant electrochemical activity in the sensing process. In addition, the magnetic Fe3O4@SiO2@Au microspheres were used as capture units in the magnetic separation step. The magnetic spheres with hairpin aptamer H1 can capture target gene. Then the captured miRNA-522 triggered the target catalyzed hairpin assembly (CHA) sensing process and linked Au NPs/Zn MOF heterostructure. The concentration of miRNA-522 can be quantified by the ECL signal enhancement of the Au NPs/Zn MOF heterostructure. Due to the high catalytic activity of Au NPs/Zn MOF heterostructure and their unique structural and electrochemical properties, the prepared ECL sensor achieved high-sensitive detection of miRNA-522 in the range of 1 fM to 0.1 nM with the detection limit of 0.3 fM. This strategy can provide a potential alternative for miRNA detection in medical research and clinical diagnosis of triple negative breast cancer.

Abstract
The percentage of glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c) in total hemoglobin (Hb) is an important index for the diagnosis of Type II diabetes (T2D) because it reflects the long-term glucose level in blood. Herein, employing a one-pot co-reduction approach using glutathione (GSH) as structure-directing agent, a cluster-like AuAg nanoparticle (AuAg NPs) material was synthesized, therefore an electrochemiluminescence (ECL) aptamer-sensor for HbA1c detection was developed based on functionalized electrode with this material. Meanwhile, the quantitative determination of total Hb was realized based on the quenching effect of Hb on the fluorescence (FL) of luminol. Under compatible conditions, the results of both indexes can be satisfactorily acquired. This multimodal detection system has a good linear response toward Hb from 0.1 to 2.5 μM and HbA1c from 0.005 to 0.5 μM. The blood test proves this strategy is capable of accurate Hb and HbA1c detection, thus to obtain the percentage of HbA1c in total Hb (HbA1c%), which has the potential application for clinical diagnosis of diabetes mellitus.

Abstract
Glucose is one of the most important monosaccharides found in the food, as a part of more complex structures, which is a primary energy source for the brain and body. Thus, the monitoring of glucose concentration is more important in food and biological samples in order to maintain a healthy lifestyle. Herein, an electrochemical glucose biosensor was fabricated by immobilization of glucose oxidase (GOX) onto poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene):4-sulfocalix [4]arene (PEDOT:SCX)/MXene modified electrode. For this purpose, firstly, PEDOT was synthesized in the presence of SCX (counterion) by the chemical oxidative method. Secondly, MXene (a 2D layered material) was synthesized by using a high-temperature furnace under a nitrogen atmosphere. After that, PEDOT:SCX/MXene (1:1) dispersion was prepared by ultrasonication which was later utilized to prepare PEDOT:SCX/MXene hybrid film. A successful formation of PEDOT:SCX/MXene film was confirmed by HR-SEM, Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR), and Raman spectroscopies. Due to the biocompatibility nature, successful immobilization of GOX was carried out onto chitosan modified PEDOT:SCX/MXene/GCE. Moreover, the electrochemical properties of PEDOT:SCX/MXene/GOX/GCE was studied through cyclic voltammetry and amperometry methods. Interestingly, a stable redox peak of FAD-GOX was observed at a formal potential of –0.435 V on PEDOT:SCX/MXene/GOX/GCE which indicated a direct electron transfer between the enzyme and the electrode surface. PEDOT:SCX/MXene/GOX/GCE also exhibited a linear response against glucose concentrations in the linear range from 0.5 to 8 mM. The effect of pH, sensors reproducibility, and repeatability of the PEDOT:SCX/MXene/GOX/GCE sensor were studied. Finally, this new biosensor was successfully applied to detect glucose in commercial fruit juice sample with satisfactory recovery.
