Abstract
It is important for biological, pharmaceutical, and cosmetic industries to understand how proteins and surfactants interact. Herein, the interaction of bovine serum albumin (BSA) with tetradecyltrimethylammonium bromide (TTAB) in different inorganic salts (KCl, K2SO4, K3PO4.H2O) has been explored through the conductivity measurement method at different temperatures (300.55 to 325.55 K) with a specific salt concentration and at a fixed temperature (310.55 K) using different salts concentrations. The extent of micelle ionization (α) and different thermodynamic parameters associated with BSA and TTAB mixtures in salt solutions were calculated. Evaluation of the magnitudes of ∆Hm0 and ∆Sm0 showed that the association was exothermic and primarily an enthalpy-operated process in all cases at lower contents of BSA, but the system became endothermic, and entropy driven in the presence of K3PO4.H2O at a relatively higher concentration of BSA. The enthalpy-entropy compensation variables were determined, which explained the types and nature of interactions between TTAB and BSA in salt media. Molecular docking analysis revealed that the main stabilizing factors in the BSA-TTAB complex are electrostatic and hydrophobic interactions. These findings aligned with the significant results obtained from the conductometry method regarding the nature and characteristics of binding forces observed between BSA and TTAB.

Abstract
The formation of aggregates, which are widely used in the field of biochemistry and the medical industry, was studied with different compositions of alkyl betaine gemini surfactant (C14Ab) in conjugation with chlorpromazine hydrochloride (CPZ). The results were compared with those of a single-chain zwitterionic surfactant (C12DmCB) of the same type with CPZ. Dynamic light scattering (DLS), confocal laser scanning microscopy (CLSM), and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) methods were used to distinguish the aggregates for the CPZ/C14Ab system in aqueous solutions above a certain mole fraction of the drug CPZ (αCPZ = 0.2). Time-resolved fluorescence decay measurements of acridine orange revealed relative polarity near the head group regions of mixed micelle (CPZ/C14Ab and CPZ/C12DmCB) systems. The hydrophilic environment around the head group regions of the CPZ/C14Ab system was different from that in the case of the CPZ/C12DmCB system. On the other hand, several theoretical models were employed (Clint, Rubingh, Motomura, and SPB) for mixed micellar systems to elucidate the different interaction parameters. Such a systematic study of a zwitterionic gemini amphiphile and its interaction with other amphiphiles and an amphiphilic drug molecule is rare in the literature.

Abstract
Surface-active ionic liquids (SAILs) show great promise as novel green solvents due to their low vapor pressure, high thermal stability, high electrical conductivity, and bio-friendly nature to replace traditional volatile organic solvents in industrial processes. In the present work, the combination of coarse-grained (CG) molecular dynamics (MD) simulations with conductivity measurements was employed to explain the correlation between the micelle morphology and physicochemical and thermodynamic properties of self-assembly. A homologous series of SAIL molecules, 1-n-alkyl-3-methylimidazolium bromide [Cnmim][Br] (n = 4, 6, 8, 10, and 12), were chosen at various concentrations to shed light on this issue. Simultaneously two factors of concentration and alkyl chain length affected the morphology to control the physical and thermodynamic features. Moreover, the nature of the headgroup for two SAILs with the longest alkyl chain was assessed by shifting from imidazolium into ammonium. First, the critical micelle concentration (CMC), the degree of counterion dissociation of micelles, and the standard Gibbs energy of micellization of SAILs were determined using conductivity data. The micelle morphology such as the aggregation number, micelle radius, and moment of inertia was computed before, around, and after the CMC by MD simulation. Simulated results in accordance with the experimental measurements provide a quantitative understanding of the micellar properties. Increasing the alkyl chain length was associated with a non-spherical bigger micelle while the ammonium-based surfactant with a lower repulsion between neighboring monomers in micelles induced bigger and more spherical aggregates. Raising the SAIL concentration did not considerably influence the sphericity of the micelle except for the SAIL with the longest tail. The umbrella sampling method calculated the potential of mean force (PMF) for pulling a monomer of SAIL from a pre-assembled micelle into the solution. The dissociation energy of a SAIL monomer from a micelle increased with the tail length or with shifting into the ammonium head group and was substantially influenced by micelle morphology. Comparison between a sphere micelle with an oval one demonstrated that the dissociation of a SAIL monomer from a non-spherical shape needed a higher amount of energy. An improved understanding of how the shape of the SAIL micelles controls the physicochemical properties and stability helps to extend their application to different chemical processes.

Abstract
Herein, the interaction among the antidepressant drug amitriptyline hydrochloride (AMT) and a green gemini surfactant, ethane-1, 2-diyl bis(N,N-dimethyl-N-tetradecylammoniumacetoxy) dichloride (14-E2-14), via numerous techniques such as tensiometry, fluorimetry, FT-IR and UV-visible spectroscopy in three different media (aqueous 0.050 mol·kg-1 NaCl, 0.50 and 1.0 mol·kg-1 urea) were investigated. AMT is used to treat mental illness or mood problems, such as depression. The aggregation of biologically active ingredients can enhance the bioavailability of hydrophobic drugs. A significant interaction between AMT and 14-E2-14 was detected by tensiometric study as the critical micelle concentration (cmc) of AMT+14-E2-14 is reduced upon an increase of mole fraction (α1) of 14-E2-14. The decrease in cmc indicates the nonideality of studied mixtures of different compositions. Although, employed drug AMT is freely soluble in the aqueous and non-aqueous system but is not hydrophobic enough to act as its carrier. Instead, gemini surfactant formed spherical micelles in an aqueous system and their high solubilization capability, as well as their relatively lower cmc value, makes them highly stable in vivo. The cmc values of AMT+14-E-14 mixtures in all cases were further decreased and increased in NaCl and urea solutions respectively as compared with the aqueous system. Numerous micellar, interfacial, and thermodynamic parameters have been measured by applying various theoretical models. The obtained changes in the physicochemical assets of AMT upon adding of 14-E2-14 are likely to enhance the industrial and pharmaceutical applications of gemini surfactants. The negative interaction parameters (βm and βσ), indicate synergistic attraction is occurring in the mixed systems. The aggregation number (Nagg), Stern–Volmer constant (Ksv), etc. are attained through the fluorescence method, also supporting the attractive interaction behavior of AMT+14-E2-14 mixtures in all solvents. The Nagg was found to increase in the salt solution and decrease in the urea system compared with the aqueous solution. FT-IR and UV-visible analysis also depict the interaction between the constituent alike tensiometry and fluorimetry methods. The results suggested that gemini surfactants may serve as a capable drug delivery agent for antidepressants, improving their bioavailability.

Abstract
To understand the influence of the construction of pH-responsive glycopolymer carriers on loading and release behaviors of the drug, three types of block glycopolymers with similar compositions but different constructions, PEG-b-P(DEA-co-GAMA), PEG-b-PDEA-b-PGAMA and PEG-b-PGAMA-b-PDEA, were successfully synthesized via atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP) method. The compositions and structures of the three glycopolymers were characterized using 1H NMR (nuclear magnetic resonance) and GPC (gel permeation chromatography), while the morphology and size of aggregates from pH-sensitive block glycopolymers were measured using TEM (transmission electron microscopy) and DLS (dynamic light scattering). The results indicated that the micelles prepared from PEG-b-PGAMA-b-PDEA had a more compact shell structure. The drug-loaded micelles were prepared using the diafiltration method at pH 10, and the loading content and loading efficiency were analyzed using a UV-visible spectrophotometer. DOX-loaded micelles formed by PEG-b-PGAMA-b-PDEA with the more compact shell construction showed the highest loading content and loading efficiency (12.0 wt% and 58.0%) compared with the other two micelles. Moreover, the DOX release tests of these micelles were carried out under two PBS conditions (pH 7.4 and pH 5.5), and the DOX release amount in a certain time was analyzed using a UV-visible spectrophotometer. The results showed that the more compact shell construction of the three layered micelle obstructed the diffusion of a proton into the PDEA core at pH 5.5 and delayed the drug from releasing under both conditions. Moreover the two-layered micelle with a PDEA and PGAMA mixed core showed a relatively high release amount owing to the porous core permitting unimpeded releasing at pH 7.4 and promoted the protonation of PDEA at pH 5.5. Insights gained from this study show that the structure of block copolymers, leading to different constructions of micelles, could adjust the drug loading and release behavior to certain extent, thus it may contribute to improving the design of desirable drug delivery systems.

Abstract
The association of cationic dye (pinacyanol, PC) with anionic dyes (ethyleosin, EE, or rhodamine 200 C, R200C), and also the interaction “dye+surfactant” has been investigated in aqueous solutions by visible spectroscopy and computer simulation. Cetylpyridinium bromide (CPB), sodium dodecylsulfate (SDS) and triton X-100 (TX) were used as cationic, anionic and non-ionic surfactants respectively. The formation of “dye+surfactant” associates takes place at low dye concentrations (≥10‑6 M) and concentrations of surfactant, which are much smaller than the critical micelle concentrations (CMC). In contrast, similar concentrations (10‑6 – 10‑4 M) of small cations of tetramethylammonium or tetraethylammonium have no noticeable effect on the absorption spectra of the dye in the “dye+tetraalkylammonium salt” systems; it indicates the absence of formation of new compound between the dye and salt. The standard enthalpy of formation of “dye+dye” or “dye+surfactant” associates has been determined by AM1 and PM3 semiempirical methods. The computer simulation confirms that the formation of these associates is energetically beneficial.

Abstract
In this study, we developed a polymeric nanofiber patch (PNP) for topical disease treatment using electrohydrodynamic atomization (EHDA). The nanofibers were prepared using various concentrations of polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) and tamarind seed gum and loaded with clindamycin HCl as a model drug. The precursor polymer solutions were sprayed using the EHDA technique; the EHDA processing parameters were optimized to obtain blank and drug-loaded PNPs. The skin adherence, translucence, and ventilation properties of the prepared PNPs indicated that they are appropriate for topical application. The conductivity of the polymer solution increased with increasing PVA and clindamycin concentrations, and increasing the PVA concentration enhanced the solution viscosity. Based on scanning electron microscopy analysis, the PVA concentration had a pronounced effect on the morphology of the sprayed product. Nanofibers were fabricated successfully when the solution PVA concentration was 10%, 13%, or 15% (w/v). The applied voltage significantly affected the diameters of the prepared nanofibers, and the minimum nanofiber diameter was 163.86 nm. Differential scanning calorimetry and X-ray diffraction analyses indicated that the model drug was dispersed in PVA in an amorphous form. The PNP prepared with a PVA:gum ratio of 9:1 absorbed water better than the PVA-only PNP and the PNP with a PVA:gum ratio of 9.5:0.5. Moreover, the PNPs loaded with clindamycin at concentrations of 1%–3% prohibited the growth of Staphylococcus aureus more effectively than clindamycin gel, a commercially available product.
