A symmetric ZnO-ZIF8//Mo-ZIF8 supercapacitor and comparing with electrochemical of Pt, Au, and Cu decorated ZIF-8 electrodes

Carbon Nanotube Template-Assisted Synthesis of Conjugated Microporous Polytriphenylamine with High Porosity for Efficient Supercapacitive Energy Storage

Engineering of conjugated microporous polymers (CMPs) with high porosity, redox activity, and electronic conductivity is of significant importance for their practical applications in electrochemical energy storage. Aminated-multiwall carbon nanotubes (NH2 -MWNT) are utilized to modulate the porosity and electronic conductivity of polytriphenylamine (PTPA), which is synthesized via Buchwald-Hartwig coupling reaction of tri(4-bromophenyl)amine and phenylenediamine as constitutional units in a one-step in situ polymerization process. Compared to PTPA, the specific surface area of core-shell PTPA@MWNTs has been greatly improved from 32 to 484 m2  g-1 . The PTPA@MWNTs exhibites an improved specific capacitance, with the highest value 410 F g-1 in 0.5 M H2 SO4 at a current of 10 A g-1 achieve for PTPA@MWNT-4 due to the hierarchical meso-micro pores, high redox-activity and electronic conductivity. Symmetric supercapacitor assemble by PTPA@MWNT-4 has a capacitance of 216 F g-1 of total electrode materials and retains 71% of initial capacitance after 6000 cycles. This study gives new insights into the role of CNT templates in the adjustment of molecular structure, porosity, and electronic property of CMPs for the high-performance electrochemical energy storage.

Zeolitic imidazolate framework-67 crystals (ZIF-67) anchored molybdenum disulfide nanosheets (MS) have been synthesized via a hydrothermal approach followed by a simple chemical method. MS concentration has been varied to investigate its impact on the electrochemical efficiency within the electrode nanocomposite. The shiny spot of this composite is the combination of two desirable properties, the conductive path created by MS, and the structural framework support provided by Zeolitic imidazolate framework-67 intercalated with nickel (Z67.Ni). The reason behind this choice of this specific nanocomposite is the framework of the Z67.Ni that prevents MS nanosheets from restacking during the repeated charge and discharge cycles. Superior electrochemical behavior of Z67.Ni with 70% weight percent of MS (Z67.Ni/MS7) demonstrated the excellent synergistic effect between Z67.Ni crystals and MS nanosheets. It has a specific capacitance of 308.5 F g− 1 at 1 A g− 1 and delivers an excellent energy density (Ed) of 83.98 W h kg− 1 with a power density (Pd) of 2.78 kW kg− 1. These excellent results demonstrate the high efficiency of this nanocomposite material in supercapacitor applications.

Recent advances in ZnO-based photosensitizers: Synthesis, modification, and applications in photodynamic cancer therapy

Zinc oxide nanoparticles (ZnO NPs) are important semiconductor materials with interesting photo-responsive properties. During the past, ZnO-based NPs have received considerable attention for photodynamic therapy (PDT) due to their biocompatibility and excellent potential of generating tumor-killing reactive oxygen species (ROS) through gentle photodynamic activation. This article provides a comprehensive review of the recent developments and improvements in optical properties of ZnO NPs as photosensitizers for PDT. The optical properties of ZnO-based photosensitizers are significantly dependent on their charge separation, absorption potential, band gap engineering, and surface area, which can be adjusted/tuned by doping, compositing, and morphology control. Here, we first summarize the recent progress in the charge separation capability, absorption potential, band gap engineering, and surface area of nanosized ZnO-based photosensitizers. Then, morphology control that is closely related to their synthesis method is discussed. Following on, the state-of-art for the ZnO-based NPs in the treatment of hypoxic tumors is comprehensively reviewed. Finally, we provide some outlooks on common targeted therapy methods for more effective tumor killing, including the attachment of small molecules, antibodies, ligands molecules, and receptors to NPs which further improve their selective distribution and targeting, hence improving the therapeutic effectiveness. The current review may provide useful guidance for the researchers who are interested in this promising dynamic cancer treatment technology.
