Abstract
In this study, a brief review of the proton transfer salts synthesized from the reaction of piperazine with pyridine-2-carboxylic acid and their metal complexes since 2009 was made. The metals in the studied compounds are mostly d-block metals. In complexes, the anionic component of the salt is coordinated to the metal, while the cationic component is present only as a complementary ion in a complex.

Abstract
A novel one-dimensional coordination polymer bis(2-aminopyridine)-μ-bis(dicyanamido) cobaltate(II) has been synthesized and characterized by elemental analyses and infrared and ultraviolet visible spectroscopies and the structure has been determined by single crystal X-ray diffraction. Co(II) ion in the complex is coordinated to two axial 2-aminopyridine ligands through the pyridine N-atom and four equatorial dicyanamide ligands to give a CoN6 slightly distorted octahedral coordination environment around the metal ion. The amino N-atom forms intrachain hydrogen bonds. Antimicrobial screening of the complex against eight pathogenic microorganisms (four bacteria and four fungi) isolated from humans, indicates that the complex is moderately active.

Abstract
The asymmetric unit of the title compound, [Co(C2H6N5)2(H2O)4][Co(C7H3NO4)2]2·2H2O, features 1.5 Co(II) ions (one anionic complex and one half cationic complex) and one water mol-ecule. In the cationic complex, the Co(II) atom is located on an inversion centre and is coordinated by two triazolium cations and four water mol-ecules, adopting an octa-hedral geometry where the N atoms of the two triazolium cations occupy the axial positions and the O atoms of the four water mol-ecules the equatorial positions. The two triazole ligands are parallel offset (with a distance of 1.38 Å between their planes). In the anionic complex, the Co(II) ion is six-coordinated by two N and four O atoms of the two pyridine-2,6-di-carboxyl-ate anions, exhibiting a slightly distorted octa-hedral coordination geometry in which the mean plane of the two pyridine-2,6-di-carboxyl-ate anions are almost perpendicular to each other, making a dihedral angle of 85.87 (2)°. In the crystal, mol-ecules are linked into a three-dimensional network via C-H⋯O, C-H⋯N, O-H⋯O and N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds.

Abstract
Aminopyrazine (AP) and AP-methanol complexes have been theoretically studied by using density functional theory (DFT) and time-dependent density functional theory (TDDFT). The excited-state hydrogen bonds are discussed in detail. In the ground state the intermolecular multiple hydrogen bonds can be formed between AP molecule and protic solvents. The AP monomer and hydrogen-bonded complex of AP with one methanol are photoexcited initially to the S2 state, and then transferred to the S1 state via internal conversion. However the complex of AP with two methanol molecules is directly excited to the S1 state. From the calculated electronic excited energies and simulated absorption spectra, we find that the intermolecular hydrogen bonds are strengthened in the electronic excited states. The strengthening is confirmed by the optimized excited-state geometries. The photochemical processes in the electronic excited states are significantly influenced by the excited-state hydrogen bond strengthening.

Abstract
In the crystal structure of the title proton-transfer compound, CH6N3O+·C7H4NO4−, O—H⋯O and N—H⋯O hydrogen bonds are formed respectively between the cations and the anions, each component affording a supramolecular chain along the c axis. The cation and anion chains are further linked by N—H⋯O and N—H⋯N hydrogen bonds. A π–π interaction is also observed between the pyridine rings; the interplanar separation and the centroid–centroid distance are 3.3425 (6) and 4.6256 (11) Å, respectively.
