Abstract
G-quadruplex (GQ) ligands as potential anti-cancer drugs have received extensive attention. Large aromatic systems are usually considered in the design of the ligands to improve the binding with GQs, which are typically constructed by the combination of small modules with covalent bonds. In this study, we presented a non-covalent bond approach to construct GQ ligands with an extended planar structure. The ligands were stable dimers assembled through quadruplex intermolecular hydrogen bonds between two molecules of naphthyridine derivatives. Spectroscopic analyses showed that dimeric ligands could stabilize GQs with an increase of the melting temperature up to 12 °C and induced conformational conversion of hybrid GQs. Confocal fluorescence microscopy confirmed the enrichment of naphthyridine ligands in the nucleus. The ligands showed moderate cytotoxicity against HeLa cells with an IC50 value of 7.5 μg mL-1 and effectively induced growth inhibition and apoptosis in HeLa cells. These results confirmed the feasibility of the quick building of GQ ligands through intermolecular interactions of simple molecules that are easily obtained during synthesis, which is helpful for GQ ligand design and quick establishment of a ligand library through the self-assembly of easily available molecular components.

Abstract
The syntheses and crystal structures of N-(7-bromo-methyl-1,8-naphthyridin-2-yl)acetamide dioxane hemisolvate, C11H10BrN3O·0.5C4H8O2, (I), and bis-[N-(7-di-bromo-methyl-1,8-naphthyridin-2-yl)acetamide] dioxane hemisolvate, 2C11H9Br2N3O·0.5C4H8O2, (II), are described. The mol-ecules adopt a conformation with the N-H hydrogen pointing towards the lone electron pair of the adjacent naphthyridine N atom. The crystals of (I) are stabilized by a three-dimensional supra-molecular network comprising N-H⋯N, C-H⋯N and C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds, as well as C-Br⋯π halogen bonds. The crystals of compound (II) are stabilized by a three-dimensional supra-molecular network comprising N-H⋯N, C-H⋯N and C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds, as well as C-H⋯π contacts and C-Br⋯π halogen bonds. The structure of the substituent attached in the 7-position of the naphthyridine skeleton has a fundamental influence on the pattern of inter-molecular noncovalent bonding. While the Br atom of (I) participates in weak C-Br⋯Oguest and C-Br⋯π contacts, the Br atoms of compound (II) are involved in host-host inter-actions via C-Br⋯O=C, C-Br⋯N and C-Br⋯π bonding.

Abstract
In the crystal structure of the title compound, C8H7N3O·H2O, adjacent organic molecules are linked together into a tape along the a axis through N—H⋯N and N—H⋯O hydrogen bonds. On the other hand, water molecules are linked together to form a chain along the b axis through O—H⋯O hydrogen bonds. The water chains and the organic molecular tapes are further connected by intermolecular O—H⋯O hydrogen bonds, forming a three-dimensional network. In addition, a π–π stacking interaction between the 1,8-naphthyridine ring systems with an interplanar separation of 3.246 (1) Å and a centroid–centroid distance of 3.825 (2) Å is observed.

Abstract
The experimental spin-spin coupling constants (SSCCs) for 1,3- and 1,4-difluorobenzene have been determined anew, and found to be consistent with previously determined values. SSCCs for 1,2-, 1,3-, and 1,4-difluorobenzene have been analyzed by comparing them with the coupling constants computed using the second-order polarization propagator approximation (SOPPA) and the equation-of-motion coupled cluster singles and doubles method (EOM-CCSD). Eighty experimental values have been analyzed using SOPPA calculations, and a subset of 40 values using both SOPPA and EOM-CCSD approaches. One-bond coupling constants (1)J(C-C) and (1)J(C-F) are better described by EOM-CCSD, whereas one-bond (1)J(C-H) values are better described by SOPPA. An empirical equation is presented which allows for the prediction of unknown coupling constants from computed SOPPA values. A similar approach may prove useful for predicting coupling constants in larger systems.
