Abstract
A series of six unsymmetrical thiourea derivatives, namely 1-cyclohexyl-3-(pyridin-2-yl) thiourea (1), 1-cyclohexyl-3-(3-methylpyridin-2-yl)thiourea (2), 1-cyclohexyl-3-(2,4-dimethylphenyl) thiourea (3), 1-(4-chlorophenyl)-3-cyclohexylthiourea (4), 1-(3-methylpyridin-2-yl)-3-phenylthiourea (5), and 1-(3-chlorophenyl)-3-phenylthiourea (6), were successfully synthesized via reaction between different amines with isothiocyanates under a non-catalytic environment. Structural elucidation of compounds (1-6) was performed using FT-IR and NMR (1H and 13C) spectroscopy. The infrared spectra displayed characteristic stretching vibrations, while the 13C NMR chemical shifts of the thiourea moiety (C[bond, double bond]S) were observed in the range of 179.1-181.4 ppm. The antioxidative and antimicrobial properties of the compounds were assessed, as well as their inhibitory effects on acetylcholinesterase and butyrylcholinesterase were evaluated. In order to analyze the fluorescence characteristics of each compound (1-6), the excitation (λex) and emission (λem) wavelengths were scanned within the range of 250-750 nm, with the solvent blank serving as a standard. It was observed that when dissolved in acetone, toluene, tetrahydrofuran, and ethyl acetate, these compounds exhibited emission peaks ranging from 367 to 581 nm and absorption peaks ranging from 275 to 432 nm.

Abstract
A new antimicrobial material incorporating Cu(I) and Cd(II) complexes of bisacylthiourea derivatives in a PVC film was successfully synthesized and characterized by IR, UV, NMR, SEM, and thermal analyses. The results revealed that on coordination, the electronic structure change of the ligand affects practically all their spectral vibrational pattern; however, within the complex pattern, some vibrations indicated that the thiourea derivative behaves as a neutral ligand, which coordinates the metal ion through the sulfur atom of the thiocarbonyl group. The greater affinity of the S atom for Cu+ 1 played a role in Cu(II)→Cu(I) reduction, and the intramolecular hydrogen bonds of the type of (NH···Cl) further stabilized the obtained Cu(I) complex in dioxane. The antimicrobial activity shows that all investigated compounds exhibit excellent activity compared to standard antibiotics. The antibacterial power of the PVC/Cd composite is significantly superior against the most resistant species to both disinfectants and antibiotics compared to its PVC/Cu analogue; nevertheless, the latter exhibited activity equal to an average halo diameter of 29 ± 0.33 mm against pathogenic E. coli ATCC 25,922, indicating excellent G (-) activity. Interestingly, the PVC/Cd composite exhibited excellent activity against pathogenic C. albicans RCMB 005003 (1) ATCC 10,231, while its PVC/Cu analogue was inactive. These materials may be used to reduce infection in wounds either as a composite film or coated barrier dressings, and in addition, the results should open a new direction in antimicrobial surface engineering within the biomedical field. Further challenges are the development of reusable and broad-range antimicrobial polymers..

Abstract
1-Acyl thioureas [R1C(O)NHC(S)NR2R3] are shown to display conformational flexibility depending on the degree of substitution at the nitrogen atom. The conformational landscape and structural features for two closely related thioureas having R1=2-furoyl have been studied. The un-substituted 2-furoyl thiourea (I) and its dimethyl analogue, i.e. 1-(2-furoyl)-3,3-dimethyl thiourea (II), have been synthesized and fully characterized by spectroscopic (FT-IR, 1H and 13C NMR) and elemental analysis. According to single crystal X-ray diffraction analysis, compounds I and II crystallize in the monoclinic space group P21/c. In the compound I, the trans-cis geometry of the almost planar thiourea unit is stabilized by intramolecular NH⋯OC hydrogen bond between the H atom of the cis thioamide and the carbonyl O atom. In compound II, however, the acyl thiourea group is non-planar, in good agreement with the potential energy curve computed at the B3LYP/6-31+G(d,p) level of approximation. Centrosymmetric dimers generated by intermolecular NH⋯SC hydrogen bond forming R22(8) motif are present in the crystals. Intermolecular interactions have been rationalized in terms of topological partitions of the electron distributions and Hirshfeld surface analysis, which showed the occurrence of S⋯H, O⋯H and H⋯H contacts that display an important role to crystal packing stabilization of both thiourea derivatives.

Abstract
A new series of aspirin bearing alkylated amines moieties 1–12 were synthesised by reacting isothiocyanate with a series of aniline derivatives in overall yield of 16–56%. The proposed structures of all the synthesised compounds were confirmed using elemental analysis, FTIR, and 1H and 13C NMR spectroscopy. All compounds were evaluated for antibacterial activities against E. coli and S. aureus via turbidimetric kinetic and Kirby Bauer disc diffusion method. Compound 5 bearing meta -CH3 substituent showed the highest relative inhibition zone diameter against tested bacteria compared to ortho and para substituent. Furthermore, aspirin derivatives bearing shorter chains exhibited better bacterial inhibition than longer alkyl chains.

Abstract
The 2-(phenyl-hydrazono)-succinic acid dimethyl ester compound was synthesized by reacting phenylhydrazine with dimethylacetylene dicarboxylate at room temperature and characterized by elemental analysis, infrared, Raman, (1)H and (13)C NMR spectroscopies and mass spectrometry. Its solid state structure was determined by X-ray diffraction methods. The X-ray structure determination corroborates that the molecule is present in the crystal as the hydrazone tautomer, probably favored by a strong intramolecular N-H···O=C hydrogen bond occurring between the carbonyl (-C=O) and the hydrazone -C=N-NH- groups. A substantial fragment of the molecular skeleton is planar due to an extended π-bonding delocalization. The topological analysis of the electron densities (Atom in Molecule, AIM) allows characterization of intramolecular N-H···O interaction, that can be classified as a resonant assisted hydrogen bond (RAHB). Moreover, the Natural Bond Orbital population analysis confirms that a strong hyperconjugative lpO1→σ*(N2-H) remote interaction between the C2=O1 and N2-H groups takes place. Periodic system electron density and topological analysis have been applied to characterize the intermolecular interactions in the crystal. Weak intermolecular interactions determine the crystal packing, and the prevalence of non-directional dispersive contributions are inferred on topological grounds. The IR spectrum of the crystalline compound was investigated by means of density functional theory calculations carried out with periodic boundary conditions on the crystal, showing excellent agreement between theory and the experiments. The vibrational assignment is complemented with the analysis of the Raman spectrum.

Abstract
Two novel 1-(1-naphthoyl)-3-(halo-phenyl) substituted thioureas, namely 1-(1-naphthoyl)-3-(2,4-di-fluoro-phenyl)-thiourea (1) and 1-(1-naphthoyl)-3-(3-chloro-4-fluoro-phenyl)-thiourea (2), were synthesized and fully characterized. The X-ray crystal and molecular structures have been determined resulting in a planar acylthiourea group, with the C=O and C=S adopting a pseudo-antiperiplanar conformation. An intramolecular N-H⋯O=C hydrogen bond occurs between the thioamide and carbonyl groups. The crystal packing of both compounds is characterized by extended intermolecular N-H⋯S=C and N-H⋯O=C hydrogen-bonding interactions involving the acylthiourea moiety. Compound 2 is further stabilized by π-stacking between adjacent naphthalene and phenyl rings. The thermal behavior, as well as the vibrational properties, studied by infrared and Raman spectroscopy data complemented by quantum chemical calculations at the B3PW91/6-311++G(d,p) support the formation of these intra- and intermolecular hydrogen bonds. Furthermore, the UV-Vis spectrum is interpreted in terms of TD-DFT quantum chemical calculations with the shapes of the simulated absorption spectra in good accordance with the experimental data.

Determination of the Ionization Constants of Some Benzoyl Thiourea Derivatives in Dioxane-Water Mixture. J CHEM-NY 2013. Abstract
The stoichiometric ionization constants ofN,N-dialkyl-N′-(4-substituted benzoyl) thiourea (Substitutes: H, Cl, and Br; alkyl groups: ethyl,n-propyl,n-butyl, and phenyl) derivatives have been determined potentiometrically in dioxane-water (v:v, 50:50) mixture at ionic strength of 0.1 M and25.0±0.1°C. The ionization constants were calculated with the BEST computer program and the formation curves using the data obtained from the potentiometric titrations. The effects of substituents and alkyl groups on the ionization constants of the benzoyl thiourea derivatives have been investigated. A comparison of the basicities of ethyl,n-propyl, andn-butyl thiourea derivatives(−C2H5<−C3H7<−C4H9)shows that then-butyl group is a more powerful electron-releasing group than the other groups in 50% dioxane-50% water mixture (v:v). So, the acidity of benzoyl thiourea derivative compounds decreases, while the length of alkyl chain increases. The orders ofpKavalues for all thiourea derivatives are as expected in the light of steric, resonance and inductive effects of substituents. Furthermore, when the basicities of halogen derivatives of the same substitution pattern are compared, orders obtained (4-Br<4-Cl<4-H) can be explained by considering the total electronic substituent effect (electron-withdrawing and electron-donating effects) except the 4-Br_Ph derivative.

Abstract
A new thiourea derivative, 1-benzoyl-3-(5-chloro-2-hydroxyphenyl)thiourea (bcht) has been synthesized from the reaction of 2-amino-4-chlorophenol with benzoyl isothiocyanate. The title compound has been characterized by elemental analyses, FT-IR, (13)C, (1)H NMR spectroscopy and the single crystal X-ray diffraction analysis. The structure of bcht derived from X-ray diffraction of a single crystal has been presented. The structural and spectroscopic data of the molecule in the ground state were calculated by using density functional method using 6-311++G(d,p) basis set. The complete assignments of all vibrational modes were performed on the basis of the total energy distributions (TED). Isotropic chemical shifts ((13)C NMR and (1)H NMR) were calculated using the gauge-invariant atomic orbital (GIAO) method. Theoretical calculations of bond parameters, harmonic vibration frequencies and nuclear magnetic resonance are in good agreement with experimental results. The UV absorption spectra of the compound that dissolved in ACN and MeOH were recorded. Bcht was also screened for antimicrobial activity against pathogenic bacteria and fungi.
