Abstract
A novel Gabapentin derivative Schiff base Gasa was synthesized by condensing Gabapentin with salicylaldehyde, which was further coordinated with Cu2+ in methanol to give a microcrystalline Cu(II) complex Cu(Gasa)2. The synthesized Gasa and Cu(Gasa)2 were further characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), as well as the FT-IR, Raman, electronic and fluorescence spectra. Cu(Gasa)2 exhibited excellent visible-light driven photocatalytic activities in removal of Congo red (CR) and Methylene blue (MB) dyes from aqueous solution in the presence of H2O2 as oxidant. It was revealed that ∙OH radicals played the most important role in the photodegradation processes of organic dyes, and the photodegradation of CR and MB fitted well with the pseudo-first-order kinetic model. In addition, solid state luminescent properties of Gasa and Cu(Gasa)2 were also studied in detail.

Abstract
The Schiff-base compounds 2,4-di-tert-butyl-6-(((3,4,5-trimethoxyphenyl)imino)methyl)phenol (L1H), 2,4-di-tert-butyl-6-(((2,4,6-trimethoxyphenyl)imino)methyl)phenol (L2H), 2,4-di-tert-butyl-6-(((2,4-trimethoxyphenyl)imino)methyl)phenol) (L3H) derived from anilines bearing methoxy substituents have been employed in the preparation of alkylaluminum and zinc complexes. Molecular structure determinations reveal mono-chelate aluminum complexes of the type [Al(Ln)(Me)2] (L1, 1; L2, 2; L3, 3), and bis(chelate) complexes for zinc, namely [Zn(Ln)2] (L1, 5; L2, 6; L3, 7). All complexes have significant activity at 50 °C and higher activity at 100 °C for the ring-opening polymerization (ROP) of ε-caprolactone (ε-CL) with good control over the molar mass distribution (Mw/Mn < 2) and molecular weight. Complex 1 was found to be the most active catalyst, achieving 99% conversion within 18 h at 50 °C and giving polycaprolactone with high molecular weight; results are compared against aniline-derived (i.e., non-methoxy containing) complexes (4 and 8). Aluminum or zinc complexes derived from L1 exhibit higher activity as compared with complexes derived from L2 and L3. Complex 1 was also tested as an initiator for the copolymerization of ε-CL and glycolide (GL). The CL-GL copolymers have various microstructures depending on the feed ratio. The crosslinker 4,4′-bioxepane-7,7′-dione was used in the polymerization with ε-CL using 1, and well-defined cross-linked PCL was afforded of high molecular weight.

Abstract
New core–shell structured metal–organic coordination polymer (CP) microspheres with a hierarchical microporous–mesoporous–macroporous structure are synthesized by a one-pot template-free method. The ligand L with a Schiff-base functional group is obtained by reacting 3-hydroxy-4-aminobenzoic acid with para-benzaldehyde. The coordination polymer microspheres (Zn-L-CP) are obtained by mixing the ligand L and zinc nitrate hexahydrate together under hydrothermal conditions. The resultant coordination polymer microspheres with a core–shell structure are characterized by FT-IR and solid state NMR spectroscopy, transmission and scanning electron microscopy, and nitrogen adsorption–desorption measurements. The obtained Zn-L-CP microspheres are proved to be effective heterogeneous catalysts for the deacetylation reaction with the merits of easy recycling and stability. The yield is 96% when using methanol as solvent, and the yield can remain at 90% after seven cycles.

Abstract
Some nickel(II) and zinc(II) complexes of the type [Ni(L)(phen/bipy)]X (1a-6a) and [Zn(L) (phen/bipy)]X (1b-6b) (where L = 2-{(E)-[(4-trimethylsilylethynylphenyl)imino]methyl}-4-(4-nitro phenylethynyl)phenol; phen = 1, 10-phenanthroline, bipy = 2, 2´-bipyridine; X = ClO4-, BF4-, PF6-) have been prepared and characterized on the basis of elemental analyses, FTIR, 1H NMR and mass spectral studies. The molecular structure of L was determined by single crystal X-ray diffraction studies. The electrochemical behaviour of the Ni(II) complexes indicate that the phen complexes appears at more positive potential as compared to those for bipy complexes, as a consequence of its strong π-acidic character. TGA was carried out to study the thermal behavior of the complexes. Room temperature luminescence is observed for all complexes corresponds to π → π* ILCT transition. The size of the counter anion and heterocyclic coligands phen and bipy shows marked effect on emission properties of the complexes.
