Abstract
Although porphyrin modification can improve the peroxidase-like activity of some inorganic nanozymes, it is hardly studied that metal porphyrin self-assembled nanoaggregates as sacrificial templates to turn on the peroxidase-like activity of inorganic nanozymes under light illumination. In this work, cobalt (II) 5,10,15,20-Tetrakis (4-carboxylpheyl)porphyrin (CoTCPP) self-assembled nanoaggregates are firstly used as soft templates to prepare TiO2-based nanozymes with the enhanced peroxidase-like activity. Interestingly, CoTCPP nanoaggregates can be changed into Co oxide nanoparticles dispersed into the nanosphere composites. Furthermore, the peroxidase-like activity of CoTCPP-TiO2 nanospheres can be controlled by light illumination. Comparatively, CoTCPP-TiO2 nanoshperes exhibit the highest peroxidase-like activity of three nanospheres (CoTCPP-TiO2, H2TCPP-TiO2 and TiO2) with similar morphology under the light illumination. Other than the existence of oxygen vacancy, the formation of heterostructure between TiO2 and a small amount of Co3O4 are ascribed to increase the catalytic activity of CoTCPP-TiO2 composites. Thus, a facile and convenient colorimetric sensing platform has been constructed and tuned by light illumination for determining H2O2 and amikacin in a good linear range of 20-100 and 50-100 μM with a limit of detection (LOD) of 3.04 μM and 1.88 μM, respectively. The CoTCPP-TiO2 based colorimetric sensing platform has been validated by measuring the amikacin residue in lake water.

Abstract
Bi12O17Cl2 is a potential photocatalyst in practical applications due to its excellent photostability, visible light activity, and competitive bandgap energy. However, the fast recombination of photogenerated charge carriers makes it impractical for pollution mitigation. Recently, aggregated porphyrins have emerged as photosensitizers in light-dependent applications such as photocatalysis. Although Bi12O17Cl2 and porphyrin can function as separate photocatalysts, their photocatalytic properties in terms of visible light adsorption, charge separation and transport, can be improved when they are combined to form heterostructure. In this study, rod-shaped aggregated 5,10,15, 20-Tetrakis (4-carboxyphenyl) porphyrin was synthesized by CTAB-assisted, self-assembly strategy and Bi12O17Cl2 by a facile microwave method. The porphyrin and Bi12O17Cl2 were combined to generate a series of x%Porphyrin@Bi12O17Cl2 having 0.02% wt., 0.1% wt., 0.4% wt., 1% wt. and 10% wt. as compositions of porphyrin. The materials' photocatalytic degradation efficiency was tested on Rhodamine B dye as a representative pollutant. The best and worst performances were reported for 1%Porphyrin@Bi12O17Cl2 and 10%Porphyrin@Bi12O17Cl2, respectively, which are 3.1 and 0.5 times increases in efficiency compared to pure Bi12O17Cl2. From the radical trapping experiment, electrons and superoxide were the dominant reactive species in the degradation process. The enhanced photocatalytic capability of the materials was attributed to the photosensitizing property of porphyrin and the heterojunction formation, which promotes the separation of photogenerated charge carriers. A plausible step-scheme (S-scheme) was proposed for the photocatalytic degradation mechanism. The S-scheme provided the high redox potential of the photogenerated charge carriers. The findings herein offer a new option for improving the photocatalytic performance of Bi12O17Cl2 for environmental applications through the photosensitization strategy.

Development of Double Hydrophilic Block Copolymer/Porphyrin Polyion Complex Micelles towards Photofunctional Nanoparticles. Polymers (Basel) 2022; 14:polym14235186. Abstract
The electrostatic complexation between double hydrophilic block copolymers (DHBCs) and a model porphyrin was explored as a means for the development of polyion complex micelles (PICs) that can be utilized as photosensitive porphyrin-loaded nanoparticles. Specifically, we employed a poly(2-(dimethylamino) ethyl methacrylate)-b-poly[(oligo ethylene glycol) methyl ether methacrylate] (PDMAEMA-b-POEGMA) diblock copolymer, along with its quaternized polyelectrolyte copolymer counterpart (QPDMAEMA-b-POEGMA) and 5,10,15,20-tetraphenyl-21H,23H-porphine-p,p',p″,p'''-tetrasulfonic acid tetrasodium hydrate (TPPS) porphyrin. The (Q)PDMAEMA blocks enable electrostatic binding with TPPS, thus forming the micellar core, while the POEGMA blocks act as the corona of the micelles and impart solubility, biocompatibility, and stealth properties to the formed nanoparticles. Different mixing charge ratios were examined aiming to produce stable nanocarriers. The mass, size, size distribution and effective charge of the resulting nanoparticles, as well as their response to changes in their environment (i.e., pH and temperature) were investigated by dynamic and electrophoretic light scattering (DLS and ELS). Moreover, the photophysical properties of the complexed porphyrin along with further structural insight were obtained through UV-vis (200-800 nm) and fluorescence spectroscopy measurements.

Abstract
The formation of a binary porphyrinic self-assembled system between meso-tetrakis(4-carboxyphenyl) porphyrin (TCPP) and meso-tetrakis(4-dimethyl amino) porphyrin (TDAP) was easily designed through non-covalent interactions in solution and adsorbed on a gold substrate. It was found that non-covalent interactions and geometrical conformations between porphyrins allow their self-assembly into a well-defined arrangement, which was confirmed by UV-Vis spectroscopy, electrochemistry, atomic force microscopy and density functional theory (DFT) studies.

Abstract
Porphyrins have been widely used in many optical devices given their unique photochemical properties. Their poor photostability has, however, limited their wide applications in bioimaging and biosensing schemes. Herein, we report the remarkable photostability enhancement of the porphyrin, carboxyphenyl porphyrin (TCPP-H2) when locked in a zirconium based metal-organic framework (MOF-525). Steady-state ensemble fluorescence spectroscopy experiments showed minimal changes (2%) in the recorded signal when MOF-525 was continuously illuminated as compared to a 16% decrease for free porphyrins. Single particle fluorescence imaging revealed bright microparticles with exceptional photostability and no-blinking within the experiment window. This study highlights the use of metal-organic frameworks for preparing photostable microstructures by leveraging on their unique self-assembly properties.

Abstract
Tetrakis (4-carboxyphenyl) porphyrin (TCPP) and polyelectrolyte poly(N-methyl-2-vinylpyridinium iodide)-b-poly(ethylene oxide) (PMVP41-b-PEO205) can self-aggregate into polyion complex (PIC) micelles in alkaline aqueous solution. UV-vis spectroscopy, fluorescence spectroscopy, transmission electron microscope, and dynamic light scattering were carried out to study PIC micelles. Density functional theory (DFT) calculation method was applied to study the interaction of TCPP and PMVP41-b-PEO205. We found that the H-aggregates and J-dimers of anionic TCPP transformed in PIC micelles. H-aggregates of TCPP formed at the charge ratio of TCPP/PMVP41-b-PEO205 1:2 and J-dimer species at the charge ratio above 1:4, respectively. It is worth noting that the transformation from H-aggregates to J-dimer species of TCPP occurred just by adjusting the ratio of polymer and TCPP rather than by changing other factors such as pH, temperature, and ions.

Abstract
Chlorosomes are one of the elegant light-harvesting antenna systems in anoxygenic photosynthetic bacteria, whose core is constructed from J-type self-aggregation of bacteriochlorophyll- c, bacteriochlorophyll- d, bacteriochlorophyll- e, and bacteriochlorophyll- f molecules without the influence of polypeptides. Chlorosomal supramolecular models were built up using synthetic porphyrin-type bacteriochlorophyll- d analogues with a methoxycarbonylethenyl, formyl, vinyl, or ethyl group at the 8-position. Their chlorosomal self-aggregates in an aqueous micelle solution showed relatively intense absorption bands around 500-600 nm where antennas of natural oxygenic phototrophs, as well as green sulfur bacteria possessing bacteriochlorophylls- c/ d, absorb light less efficiently; this observation is called the "green gap". Furthermore, the functional chlorosomal models were constructed by simple addition of a small amount of an energy acceptor model bearing a bacteriochlorin moiety to the pigment self-assemblies in an aqueous micelle. The resulting excited energy donor-acceptor supramolecules played the roles of chlorosomal light-harvesting and energy-transfer antenna systems and were efficient at light absorption in the "green gap" region.

Abstract
The self-assembly behaviour of a library of tetra-amidated porphyrin molecules decorated with a variety of solubilizing wedges is investigated as dilute solutions in methylcyclohexane. Small changes in the solubilising wedge of the porphyrins resulted in different aggregated states, as evidenced by CD and UV/Vis absorption spectroscopy. The porphyrins form co-facially stacked H-aggregates, slip-stacked J-aggregates or a mixture of both. Detailed thermodynamic and kinetic analysis showed that in all cases the formation of J-aggregates proceeds via an isodesmic mechanism whereas H-aggregates are formed via a cooperative mechanism. It is shown that these aggregates assemble in a parallel pathway, in which both compete for the monomer, compared to a sequential pathway, in which one of the aggregates interconverts into the other. Interestingly, kinetic analysis of porphyrins that only form H-aggregates in thermodynamic equilibrium revealed that the competing pathway towards J-aggregates is operational in these systems as well. Our findings show that the balance between H- and J-aggregates depends on remarkably small changes in the architecture of the solubilising wedges.

Abstract
Here, we describe the design of a novel mimic peroxidase, nanocomposites composed by 5,10,15,20-tetrakis(4-carboxyl phenyl)-porphyrin (H2TCPP) and cadmium sulfide (CdS). The H2TCPP-CdS nanocomposites can catalyze oxidation of substrate 3,3,5,5-tetramethylbenzidine (TMB) in the presence of H2O2 and form a blue product which can be seen by the naked eye in 5 min. The mechanism of the catalytic reaction originated from the generation of hydroxyl radical (·OH), which is a powerful oxidizing agent to oxidize TMB to produce a blue product. Then, we developed a colorimetric method that is highly sensitive and selective to detect glucose, combined with glucose oxidase (GOx). The proposed method allowed the detection of H2O2 concentration in the range of 4×10(-6)-1.4×10(-5)M and glucose in the range of 1.875×10(-5)-1×10(-4)M with detectable H2O2 concentration as low as 4.6×10(-7)M and glucose as low as 7.02×10(-6)M, respectively. The results provided the theoretical basis of practical application in glucose detecting and peroxidase mimetic enzymes.
