Fast finite-time quantized control of multi-layer networks and its applications in secure communication

This paper introduces a quantized controller to address the challenge of fast finite-time synchronization of multi-layer networks, where each layer represents a distinct type of interaction within complex systems. Firstly, based on the stability theory, a novel fast finite-time stability criterion is derived, which can set a smaller upper limit of the settling time by comparing it with the general finite-time stability. Secondly, by converting continuous error signals into piecewise continuous forms, a quantized control scheme is employed to realize fast finite-time synchronization in multi-layer networks, which can save control resources and alleviate communication congestion. Finally, the feasibility of the quantized control algorithm in multi-layer network synchronization and its applications in secure communication are verified through numerical simulation.

Distributed Adaptive Forwarding Finite-Time Output Consensus of High-Order Multiagent Systems via Immersion and Invariance-Based Approximator

A finite-time output consensus control problem is investigated in this article for an uncertain nonlinear high-order multiagent systems (MASs). For this class of MASs, the order of individual follower is reduced gradually by implementing the immersion and invariance (I&I) control theory repeatedly, and a requirement of solving partial differential equations (PDEs) in I&I control theory is obviated. Furthermore, an I&I-based radial basis function neural network (RBFNN) approximator is developed, where an extra cross term is added in the approximation mechanism, and the form of an update law for weights is transformed into a proportional and integral one. This I&I-based RBFNN approximator does not rely on a cancellation of the perturbation term, and these uncertainties are reconstructed by the I&I manifold adaptively, which is for improvement of approximation behaviors of traditional RBFNNs. On this basis, a distributed adaptive forwarding finite-time output consensus control strategy is proposed by combining a sign function, and the convergence time of the MAS can be adjusted with appropriate finite-time parameters. Finally, two illustrative examples verify the effectiveness of the theoretical claims.

A Fast Finite-Time Neural Network Control of Stochastic Nonlinear Systems

This article takes a fast finite-time control of stochastic nonlinear systems into account. The presence of unknown stochastic disturbance terms makes the traditional fast finite-time control approaches unavailable. To deal with this difficulty, by establishing an auxiliary function and using Jensen's inequality, in Lemma 6, a new criterion of fast finite-time stability is first established for the uncertain stochastic system. Based on the approximation ability of neural networks (NNs), an innovative fast finite-time strategy is put forward for stochastic nonlinear systems. Furthermore, by adopting the presented fast finite-time stability criterion, the stability of the stochastic systems is confirmed. Finally, two simulations are implemented to validate the feasibility of the presented NN control strategy.

Adaptive Fuzzy Output-Feedback Consensus Tracking Control of Nonlinear Multiagent Systems in Prescribed Performance

This article addresses the finite-time consensus tracking control problem for nonlinear multiagent systems (MASs), in which state variables are unmeasured and nonlinear functions are totally unknown. An observer is designed to estimate state variables and fuzzy-logic systems are employed to approximate nonlinearities. Then, an observer-based adaptive fuzzy consensus tracking controller is developed by using the backstepping technique and constructing a novel barrier Lyapunov function with the consideration of the characteristics of MASs. The proposed control protocol can guarantee that: 1) all signals in the closed-loop system keep bounded and 2) the consensus tracking error converges to a prespecified region of the origin in the prescribed finite time. Compared with the existing observer-based finite/fixed-time control protocols, the settling time and the convergence region in our work can be both preassigned by the designer and not affected by the unknown positive constant, which lies in the Lyapunov derivative inequality. Finally, two comparison simulation examples, including a numerical example and a practical example, check the availability of the designed control scheme.

Neural-Network-Based Adaptive Event-Triggered Asymptotically Consensus Tracking Control for Nonlinear Nonstrict-Feedback MASs: An Improved Dynamic Surface Approach

In this article, the asymptotic tracking control problem for a class of nonlinear multi-agent systems (MASs) is researched by the combination of radial basis function neural networks (RBF NNs) and an improved dynamic surface control (DSC) technology. It's important to emphasize that the MASs studied in this article are nonlinear and nonstrict-feedback systems, where the nonlinear functions are unknown. In order to satisfy the requirement that all items in the controller must be available, the unknown nonlinearities in the system are flexibly approximated by utilizing RBF NNs technique. Moreover, the issue of ``complexity explosion'' in the backstepping procedure is handled by improving the traditional DSC technology, and meanwhile, the influences of the boundary layers caused by the filters in the DSC procedure are eliminated skillfully through the compensation terms. In addition, the relative threshold event-triggered strategy is developed for the designed controllers to reduce the waste of communication resources, where Zeno phenomenon is successfully avoided. It is observed that the new presented control strategy ensures that all the closed-loop systems variables are uniformly ultimately bounded (UUB), and furthermore all the outputs of followers are able to track the output of the leader with zero tracking errors. Finally, the simulation results are presented to show the effectiveness of the obtained design scheme.
