Deep Reconstruction Transfer Convolutional Neural Network for Rolling Bearing Fault Diagnosis

Deep transfer learning has been widely used to improve the versatility of models. In the problem of cross-domain fault diagnosis in rolling bearings, most models require that the given data have a similar distribution, which limits the diagnostic effect and generalization of the model. This paper proposes a deep reconstruction transfer convolutional neural network (DRTCNN), which satisfies the domain adaptability of the model under cross-domain conditions. Firstly, the model uses a deep reconstruction convolutional automatic encoder for feature extraction and data reconstruction. Through sharing parameters and unsupervised training, the structural information of target domain samples is effectively used to extract domain-invariant features. Secondly, a new subdomain alignment loss function is introduced to align the subdomain distribution of the source domain and the target domain, which can improve the classification accuracy by reducing the intra-class distance and increasing the inter-class distance. In addition, a label smoothing algorithm considering the credibility of the sample is introduced to train the model classifier to avoid the impact of wrong labels on the training process. Three datasets are used to verify the versatility of the model, and the results show that the model has a high accuracy and stability.

Research on Fuel Cell Fault Diagnosis Based on Genetic Algorithm Optimization of Support Vector Machine

The fuel cell engine mechanism model is used to research fault diagnosis based on a data-driven method to identify the failure of proton exchange membrane fuel cells in the process of operation, which leads to the degradation of system performance and other problems. In this paper, an extreme learning machine and a support vector machine are applied to classify the usual faults of fuel cells, including air compressor faults, air supply pipe and return pipe leaks, stack flooding faults and temperature controller faults. The accuracy of fault classification was 78.67% and 83.33% respectively. In order to improve the efficiency of fault classification, a genetic algorithm is used to optimize the parameters of the support vector machine. The simulation results show that the accuracy of fault classification was improved to 94% after optimization.

Reliable Fault Diagnosis of Bearings Using an Optimized Stacked Variational Denoising Auto-Encoder

Variational auto-encoders (VAE) have recently been successfully applied in the intelligent fault diagnosis of rolling bearings due to its self-learning ability and robustness. However, the hyper-parameters of VAEs depend, to a significant extent, on artificial settings, which is regarded as a common and key problem in existing deep learning models. Additionally, its anti-noise capability may face a decline when VAE is used to analyze bearing vibration data under loud environmental noise. Therefore, in order to improve the anti-noise performance of the VAE model and adaptively select its parameters, this paper proposes an optimized stacked variational denoising autoencoder (OSVDAE) for the reliable fault diagnosis of bearings. Within the proposed method, a robust network, named variational denoising auto-encoder (VDAE), is, first, designed by integrating VAE and a denoising auto-encoder (DAE). Subsequently, a stacked variational denoising auto-encoder (SVDAE) architecture is constructed to extract the robust and discriminative latent fault features via stacking VDAE networks layer on layer, wherein the important parameters of the SVDAE model are automatically determined by employing a novel meta-heuristic intelligent optimizer known as the seagull optimization algorithm (SOA). Finally, the extracted latent features are imported into a softmax classifier to obtain the results of fault recognition in rolling bearings. Experiments are conducted to validate the effectiveness of the proposed method. The results of analysis indicate that the proposed method not only can achieve a high identification accuracy for different bearing health conditions, but also outperforms some representative deep learning methods.

A Hybrid Method Based on Extreme Learning Machine and Wavelet Transform Denoising for Stock Prediction

The trend prediction of the stock is a main challenge. Accidental factors often lead to short-term sharp fluctuations in stock markets, deviating from the original normal trend. The short-term fluctuation of stock price has high noise, which is not conducive to the prediction of stock trends. Therefore, we used discrete wavelet transform (DWT)-based denoising to denoise stock data. Denoising the stock data assisted us to eliminate the influences of short-term random events on the continuous trend of the stock. The denoised data showed more stable trend characteristics and smoothness. Extreme learning machine (ELM) is one of the effective training algorithms for fully connected single-hidden-layer feedforward neural networks (SLFNs), which possesses the advantages of fast convergence, unique results, and it does not converge to a local minimum. Therefore, this paper proposed a combination of ELM- and DWT-based denoising to predict the trend of stocks. The proposed method was used to predict the trend of 400 stocks in China. The prediction results of the proposed method are a good proof of the efficacy of DWT-based denoising for stock trends, and showed an excellent performance compared to 12 machine learning algorithms (e.g., recurrent neural network (RNN) and long short-term memory (LSTM)).
