Abstract
BACKGROUND Anterior uveitis is the most common anatomical type of uveitis. Patients with noninfectious anterior uveitis may develop various ocular complications and eventually visual impairment. Appropriately differentiating the etiologies can help clinicians to predict the outcome, arrange clinical follow-up, and decide the treatment or prevention strategy. Adequate treatment and effective prevention strategies can reduce the frequency of recurrence and the risk of developing complications. Human leukocyte antigen (HLA)-B27 is the most common positive finding in patients with noninfectious AAU in many countries including Taiwan. PURPOSE To report a consensus from experienced uveitis specialists and rheumatologists was made in Taiwan. METHODS A panel of nine ophthalmologists from nine different referral centers with expertise in the management of uveitis and an experienced rheumatologist was held on January 16, 2022. A comprehensive literature review was performed. Differential diagnoses for etiologies, general treatments, and prevention strategies were discussed. Each statement in the consensus was made only if more than 70% of the experts agreed. RESULTS A flow chart and seven statements regarding the differential diagnoses for etiologies, treatments and preventions, and co-management with rheumatologists were included in the consensus. CONCLUSIONS This article discusses the general diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of noninfectious acute anterior uveitis, with or without HLA-B27, in adults for general ophthalmologists to improve overall outcomes of these patients.

Abstract
This scoping review examined the relationship between Dry Eye Disease (DED) and Uveitis. We searched Pubmed, Embase, and LILACS databases for articles in which at least one patient had DED and uveitis concomitantly. The search produced 2381 records, and 24 studies were included in the qualitative synthesis. We concluded that DED and uveitis of any etiology could appear concomitantly in patients of any age. However, both diseases seem to coexist more frequently in middle-aged women and cases of anterior uveitis. Therefore, it is crucial that ophthalmologists actively look for the coexistence of ocular surface abnormalities, especially in patients with these characteristics. Future studies should establish and quantify the risk factors and pathophysiological mechanisms of this coexistence to achieve an early diagnosis of both etiologies and comprehensive management of these patients.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To estimate the population frequency of uveitis complications and to evaluate their main risk factors in the patients with uveitis from the UVECAM study. PATIENTS AND METHODS Development of complications in 386 patients with uveitis in the whole health area of the province of Toledo (UVECAM study) during a period of 1 year. Description of complications and study of their possible determinants by means of multivariate regression models. RESULTS Information on the development of complications was available in 371 of the 386 patients of the UVECAM study. The most frequent complications were posterior synechiae (19.0%), ocular hypertension (14.0%), macular edema (7.5%), epirretinal membrane (6.9%), glaucoma (6.6%), iridian atrophy (5.6%) and cataract (5.5%). The risk of complications increases with age, intermediate and panuveitis locations, and those of chronic or recurrent evolution. CONCLUSION Uveitis is associated with a high frequency of complications, especially in older patients, with intermediate or posterior localization of the inflammatory process and chronic or recurrent evolution.

Abstract
Background: Uveitis is an infrequent disease which constitutes a major cause of ocular morbidity. Correct management is essential, being corticosteroids its cornerstone. In case of contraindication to corticosteroids or treatment failure, the use of topical tacrolimus (TAC) could be an alternative which has already demonstrated safety and effectiveness in other ocular pathologies. However, TAC eye drops are not marketed, thus their elaboration must be carried out in Hospital Pharmacy Departments (HPDs). Methods: 32 Sprague-Dawley rats were divided into 4 groups of 8 rats each: (a) untreated healthy rats (Healthy); (b) untreated Endotoxin-Induced Uveitis model-rats (EIU); (c) EIU-rats treated with standard treatment of dexamethasone ophthalmic drops (DXM) and (d) EIU-rats treated with TAC-hydroxypropyl-β-cyclodextrin eye drops previously developed by our group (TAC-HPβCD). The mRNA expression levels of IL-6, IL-8, MIP-1α and TNF-α, quantitative analysis of leucocytes in aqueous humor and histological evaluation were performed. Results: TAC-HPβCD eye drops demonstrated to reduce ocular inflammation, expression of IL-6, TNF-α, MIP-1α and leukocyte infiltration in aqueous humor. Conclusions: TAC-HPβCD eye drops showed beneficial effect in EIU model in rats, positioning as an alternative for uveitis treatment in case of corticosteroids resistance or intolerance.

Abstract
Purpose: To evaluate whether the C-reactive protein (CRP)/albumin ratio (CAR) in patients with uveitis during an attack is a marker that can give information about the activity, severity and prognosis of the disease.Methods: This study included 35 patients with an uveitis attack and 35 healthy volunteers. The localization and severity of uveitis were recorded. Patients' complete blood count (CBC) during the attack, CRP, CAR, erythrocyte sedimentation rate(ESR), neutrophil/lymphocyte ratio(NLR), and platelet/lymphocyte ratio(PLR) were recorded.Results: The mean age was 34.1 ± 12.5 years for the 35 uveitis cases and 30.1 ± 4.1 years for the healthy volunteers. CRP and CAR were significantly higher in uveitis patients (p = .015 and 0.011, respectively). While CRP and CAR were significantly higher in severe anterior uveitis than mild anterior uveitis (p = .036 and 0.022, respectively), only CAR was significantly higher in severe posterior and panuveitis than mild ones(p = .017).Conclusion: CAR may be an important parameter in determining the activation of the uveitis.
