Abstract
BACKGROUND/OBJECTIVES Dithiocarbazates (DTCs) and their metal complexes have been studied regarding their property as anticancer activities. In this work, using S-benzyl-5-hydroxy-3-methyl-5-phenyl-4,5-dihydro-1H-pirazol-1-carbodithionate (H2bdtc), we prepared [ReO(bdtc)(Hbdtc)] and [[99mTc]TcO(bdtc)(Hbdtc)] complexes for tumor uptake and animal biodistribution studies. METHODS Re complex was prepared by a reaction of H2bdtc and (NBu4)[ReOCl4], the final product was characterized by IR, 1H NMR, CHN, and MS-ESI. 99mTc complex was prepared by the reaction of H2bdtc and [[99mTc]TcO4- and analyzed by planar and HPLC radiochromatography, and the stability was evaluated against amino acids and plasma. Biodistribution was performed in C57B/6 mice with B16F10 and TM1M implanted tumor. RESULTS Re is asymmetric coordinated by two dithiocarbazate ligands, one with O,N,S chelation, and the other with N,S chelation; [[99mTc]TcO(bdtc)(Hbdtc)] was prepared with a radiochemical yield of around 93%. The radioactive complex is hydrophobic (LogP = 1.03), stable for 6 h in PBS and L-histidine solution; stable for 1 h in plasma, but unstable in the presence of L-cysteine. Ex vivo biodistribution demonstrated that the compound has a fast and persistent (until 2 h) uptake by the spleen (55.46%), and tumor B16F10 and TM1M uptake is lower than 1%. In vivo SPECT/CT imaging confirmed ex vivo biodistribution, except by heterogenous TM1M accumulation but not in the B16-F10 lineage. CONCLUSIONS H2bdtc proved to be an interesting chelator for rhenium or [99mTc]technetium. The right spleen uptake opened the opportunity to deepen the study of the molecule in this tissue and justifies future studies to identify the reason of heterogenous uptake in TM1M tumor uptake.

Abstract
The title compound, [Ni(C18H30FO2P2)(C3H4N2)]PF6, was prepared by halide abstraction with TlPF6 in the presence of CH3CN in CDCl3 from the respective neutral pincer chlorido analogue followed by addition of pyrazole. The PO—C—OP pincer ligand acts in typical trans-P2 tridentate fashion to generate a distorted square-planar nickel structure. The Ni—N(pyrazole) distance is 1.925 (2) Å and the plane of the pyrazole ligand is rotated 56.2 (1)° relative to the approximate square plane surrounding the NiII center in which the pyrazole is bound to the NiII atom through its sp2-hybridized N atom. This Ni—N distance is similar to bond lengths in the other reported NiII pincer-ligand square-planar pyrazole complex structures; however, its dihedral angle is significantly larger than any of those for the latter set of pyrazole complexes.

Abstract
Seven bis-Ni(II) complexes of a N(2)S donor set ligand have been synthesized and examined for their ability to stabilize Ni(0), Ni(I), Ni(II) and Ni(III) oxidation states. Compounds 1-5 consist of modifications of the pyridine ring of the tridentate Schiff base ligand, 2-pyridyl-N-(2'-methylthiophenyl)methyleneimine ((X)L1), where X = 6-H, 6-Me, 6-p-ClPh, 6-Br, 5-Br; compound 6 is the reduced amine form (L2); compound 7 is the amide analog (L3). The compounds are perchlorate salts except for 7, which is neutral. Complexes 1 and 3-7 have been structurally characterized. Their coordination geometry is distorted octahedral. In the case of 6, the tridentate ligand coordinates in a facial manner, whereas the remaining complexes display meridional coordination. Due to substitution of the pyridine ring of (X)L1, the Ni-N(py) distances for 1~5 < 3 < 4 increase and UV-vis λ(max) values corresponding to the (3)A(2g)(F)→(3)T(2g)(F) transition show an increasing trend 1~5 < 2 < 3 < 4. Cyclic voltammetry of 1-5 reveals two quasi-reversible reduction waves that correspond to Ni(II)→Ni(I) and Ni(I)→Ni(0) reduction. The E(1/2) for the Ni(II)/Ni(I) couple decreases as 1 > 2 > 3 > 4. Replacement of the central imine N donor in 1 by amine 6 or amide 7 N donors reveals that complex 6 in CH(3)CN exhibits an irreversible reductive response at E(pc) = -1.28 V, E(pa) = +0.25 V vs saturated calomel electrode (SCE). In contrast, complex 7 shows a reversible oxidation wave at E(1/2) = +0.84 V (ΔE(p) = 60 mV) that corresponds to Ni(II)→Ni(III). The electrochemically generated Ni(III) species, [(L3)(2)Ni(III)](+) is stable, showing a new UV-vis band at 470 nm. EPR measurements have also been carried out.

Abstract
The reactions of the tridentate hydrazone ligand, N'-[1-(pyridin-2-yl)ethylidene]acetohydrazide (HL), obtained by condensation of 2-acetylpyridine with acetic hyadrazide, with copper nitrate trihydrate in the presence of thiocyanate, or with CuCl2 produce two distinct coordination compounds, namely a one-dimensional helical coordination chain of [CuL(NCS)] n (1) units, and a doubly chlorido-bridged dinuclear complex [Cu2L2Cl2] (2) (where L=CH3C(O)=N-N=CCH3C5H4N). Single-crystal X-ray structural determination studies reveal that in complex 1, a deprotonated hydrazone ligand L(-) coordinates a copper(II) ion that is bridged to two neighbouring metal centres by SCN(-) anions, generating a one-dimensional helical coordination chain. In complex 2, two symmetry-related, adjacent copper(II) coordination entities are doubly chlorido-bridged, producing a dicopper entity with a Cu⋅⋅⋅Cu distance of 3.402 (1) Å. The two coordination compounds have been fully characterised by elemental analysis, spectroscopic techniques including IR, UV-vis and electron paramagnetic resonance, and variable-temperature magnetic studies. The biological effects of 1 and 2 on the viability of human colorectal carcinoma cells (COLO-205 and HT-29) were evaluated using an MTT assay, and the results indicate that these complexes induce a decrease in cell-population growth of human colorectal carcinoma cells with apoptosis.

Abstract
The well-established presence of histidine donors in binding sites of Ni-containing biomolecules prompts the study of orientational preference and stereodynamic nature of flat monodentate ligands (L = imidazoles, pyridine and an N-heterocyclic carbene) bound to planar N(2)SNi moieties. Square planar [N(2)SNiL](n+) complexes are accessed through bridge-splitting reactions of dimeric, thiolate-S bridged [N(2)SNi](2) complexes. The solid state molecular structures of three mononuclear products, and three monothiolate bridged dinickel complexes, reveal that the plane of the added monodentate ligand orients largely orthogonal to the N(2)SNiL square plane. Variable temperature (1)H NMR characterization of dynamic processes and ground state isomer ratios of imidazole complexes in their stopped exchange limiting spectra, readily correlate with density functional theory (DFT)-guided interpretation of Ni-L rotational activation barriers. Full DFT characterization finds Ni-L bond lengthening as well as a tetrahedral twist distortion in the transition state, reaching a maximum in the NHC complex, and relating mainly to the steric hindrance derived both from the ligand and the binding pocket. In the case of the imidazole ligands a minor electronic contribution derives from intramolecular electrostatic interactions (imidazole C-2 C-H(delta+)- - S(delta-) interaction). Computational studies find this donor-acceptor interaction is magnified in O-analogues, predicting coplanar arrangements in the ground state of N(2)ON(imid)Ni complexes.
