A pH-controlled fluorescent sensor and logic gate based on a 1D → 2D → 3D Cd(II)-containing coordination polymer

Utilizing sulfa drugs' pH-dependent spectral modifications for designing molecular logic gates

In this study, the absorption and fluorescence characteristics of sulfa drugs, specifically Sulfadiazine (SDZ), Sulfamerazine (SMZ), and Sulfamethazine (STZ), were examined across a pH range of 1-14. The absorption and fluorescence spectra of these sulfa drugs showed significant changes depending on the pH value. Analysis of their pH-dependent absorption and fluorescence properties indicated that these sulfa drugs could used to design molecular logic gates. The absorption and fluorescence behaviors at various wavelength maxima were utilized to design IMPLICATION and Improved-INHIBIT (I-INHIBIT) molecular logic gates.

Synthesis, structures, and fluorescence properties of one novel Cobalt metal–organic framework based on a tetraphenylethene-core ligand

A new three-dimensional luminescent cobalt (II) metal–organic framework, [Co(Titpe)(bcpf)·(DMF)]·(H2O)2·(DMF) (compound 1, JUST-8) (Titpe = 1,1,2,2-tetrakis(4-(1H-imidazol-1-yl)phenyl)ethane, bcpf = 4,4′-sulfonyldibenzoic acid; DMF =  N, N-dimethylformamide), has been solvothermally synthesized by using CoCl2·6H2O and a mixture of ligands: Titpe ligand and bcpf ligand. Single crystal X-ray analysis reveals that 1 crystallizes in the triclinic system and [Formula: see text] space group with a = 13.2097(14) Å, b = 13.9519(14) Å, c = 14.4413(15) Å, α = 89.949(7)°, β = 70.303(7)°, γ = 80.322(7)°, V = 2465.7(5) Å3, Z = 2, Mr =1032.97, Dc = 1.391 g/cm3, μ = 0.455 mm−1, F(000) = 1070, R = 0.0585, and wR = 0.1540 for 8674 observed reflections ( I > 2σ( I)). Its overall structure is a double-fold interpenetrated framework, and it shows a porosity of 12.97% based on a calculation by PLATON and a 4- c type topological network with the point symbol of {6^5.8}. The Co atom bridges the Titpe ligands to form the one-dimensional chains into a two-dimensional layered structure and then connects the auxiliary ligands to get a three-dimensional structure. Compound 1 showed a blue fluorescence emission with the peak maximum at 431 nm (λex = 314 nm).

A Pillar-Layered Zn-LMOF with Uncoordinated Carboxylic Acid Sites: High Performance for Luminescence Sensing Fe3+ and TNP

By using the mixed-linker strategy, a new pillar-layered luminescence Zn-LMOF (JLU-MOF71) ([Zn₂Na₂(TPHC)(4,4-Bipy)(DMF)]·8H₂O) (TPHC = [1,1':2',1″-terphenyl]-3,3″,4,4',4″,5'-hexacarboxylic acid, 4,4-bipy = 4,4-bipyridine, DMF = N, N-dimethylformamide) was successfully synthesized and structurally characterized. JLU-MOF71 is constructed by the 4,4-bipy pillars and 2D layers which consist of Zn²⁺ and TPHC ligands, and displays a rare fsh topology. Benefiting from the uncoordinated carboxylate sites in the framework, JLU-MOF71 not only can sensitively detect trace amounts of individual Fe³⁺ and 2,4,6-trinitrophenol (TNP) through luminescence quenching but also exhibits high selectivity when other competing analytes exist. Besides, TNP can also be effectively monitored with the help of the shifting direction of luminescent spectra (red shift) which has rarely been reported before. On the basis of the aforementioned, JLU-MOF71 can be considered as a potential luminescence sensor for detecting Fe³⁺ and TNP.
