Abstract
Organogels are used in a wide range of applications for which the development of new bio-based organogelators is highly desirable. While furan-2,5-dicarboxylic acid (FDCA) is a promising molecule for the synthesis of bio-based polyesters, it has never been used in the context of organogels. This study explores the possibility to design FDCA-based organogelators that self-assemble into fibrillar networks stabilized by hydrogen bonding. Gelation tests show the versatility of this gelator family with a wide variety of gelled liquids, especially apolar liquids. The structure of the gels was investigated by FTIR and CD spectroscopies, crystallography, powder X-ray diffraction and rheology.

Abstract
The unique role of the zinc (II) cation prompted us to cut a cross-section of the large and complex topic of the stimuli-responsive coordination polymers (CPs). Due to its flexible coordination environment and geometries, easiness of coordination-decoordination equilibria, "optically innocent" ability to "clip" the ligands in emissive architectures, non-toxicity and sustainability, the zinc (II) cation is a good candidate for building supramolecular smart tools. The review summarizes the recent achievements of zinc-based CPs as stimuli-responsive materials able to provide a chromic response. An overview of the past five years has been organised, encompassing 1, 2 and 3D responsive zinc-based CPs; specifically zinc-based metallorganic frameworks and zinc-based nanosized polymeric probes. The most relevant examples were collected following a consequential and progressive approach, referring to the structure-responsiveness relationship, the sensing mechanisms, the analytes and/or parameters detected. Finally, applications of highly bioengineered Zn-CPs for advanced imaging technique have been discussed.

Abstract
Porous two-dimensional metal-organic framework (2D-MOF) nanosheets Zr-BTB-H4TBAPy and PCN-134-2D were synthesized and characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), N2 adsorption-desorption, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), atomic force microscopy (AFM) and zeta potential and subjected to dye adsorption and separation investigation. These 2D-MOF nanosheets are ultrathin, have large surface area and high water stability and can selectively adsorb cationic dyes, rhodamine B (RhB) and methylene blue (MLB), from aqueous solutions, with removal rates of nearly 100% within 10 min. The adsorption kinetic results showed that Zr-BTB-H4TBAPy and PCN-134-2D could effectively and selectively remove cationic dyes from water, followed a pseudo-second-order kinetic model and fitted well with the Freundlich isotherm. The adsorption mechanism studies further indicated that their excellent adsorption and separation performance could be ascribed to their ultrathin and porous features, plentiful exposed surface-active sites, and favorable electrostatic interactions between the adsorbents and cationic dyes. Moreover, the porous 2D MOF nanosheets displayed excellent recyclability and reusability. These outstanding features make them potentially applicable for rapid and selective cationic dye adsorption and separation.

Abstract
The work reports a novel strategy for combining polymers and metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) into composites for adsorption applications. Calcium silicate (CaSiO3) was introduced into acrylonitrile butadiene styrene/thermoplastic polyurethane (ABS/TPU) alloy, and the CaSiO3/ABS/TPU skeleton was fabricated by 3D printing technology. The Ca-MOF was directly loaded on the surface of acetone-etched 3D skeleton by in-situ growth method. The obtained 3D skeleton was characterized and the performance of methylene blue (MB) adsorption was determined. It is clear that Ca-MOF is successfully loaded on the surface of 3D skeleton due to the presence of CaSiO3. The MB adsorption ratios of the solutions with initial concentrations of 50, 100 and 200 mg/L at the equilibrium time (5 h) are 88%, 88% and 80%, respectively, revealing good MB adsorption performance of the 3D skeleton. The MB adsorption ratio remains 70% at six runs of adsorption–desorption experiment, indicating the excellent recovering property of the skeleton. The results show that the prepared CaSiO3/ABS/TPU 3D skeleton is a candidate adsorbent for printing and dyeing effluent treatment.

Abstract
Three-dimensional (3D) printing technique has received exceptional global attention as it can create a myriad of high-resolution architectures from digital models. In the present study, 3D-printed metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) were shaped into several geometries via direct ink writing, which overcomes the instability and high-pressure drop of powdery MOF during the flow of gas or liquid streams. The inclusion of a blend of calcium alginate and gelatin (CA-GE) as biocompatible binder allowed for easy writing and an enhanced mechanical property. Besides, it was found that the printing geometry (square, hexagon, and circle), MOF loading amount, and MOF size also greatly influenced the adsorptive performance. For instance, the methylene blue adsorption efficiency of CA-GE scaffolds without MOF was only 43.6%, while the printed MOF/CA-GE sample exhibited 99.8% adsorption efficiency at 20 min. Both the inherent microporous structure of MOFs and meso/macroporous structures of the 3D matrix contributed to the excellent adsorption properties towards a variety of organic dyes and their mixtures. Furthermore, the 3D-printed adsorbents can be easily regenerated in dilute acid solution and reused for at least 7 times without performance loss. In contrast, the powdery MOF can only be repeatedly used for at most 2 times.
