Preparation of Polyphenylene Ring Derivative Dyes with Wide Wave Absorption Properties and Their Performance Study

Some conjugated benzene ring molecules were prepared using the Sonogashira reaction, and the molecules were post-functionally modified using click chemistry. The optical and electrical band gaps were measured using UV-VIS absorption spectroscopy and the three-electrode method, and the results of both were verified against each other to prove the accuracy of the characterization. In addition, the optical performances of the material were studied by z-scan; almost all materials exhibited good nonlinear optical properties and interconversion between saturable and anti-saturable absorption due to the invocation of click reagents.

Optical Properties of New Third-Order Nonlinear Materials Modified by Click Chemistry

A high-yielding click reaction was used to synthesize a series of highly conjugated, symmetrical, as well as asymmetrical compounds with a benzene core. Cyclic voltammetry and ultraviolet/visible absorption spectroscopy were carried out, and proved that the side groups of the benzene derivatives played an important role in the energy gaps, and affected the third-order non-linear optical response. The maximum absorption wavelength of the series of benzene derivatives showed an obvious red-shift. Moreover, the addition of resilient electron-withdrawing groups significantly narrowed the energy levels as compared with precursors. The third-order nonlinear properties of this benzene derivative were tested by the Z-scan technique. The expected properties of this series of molecules were obtained, and it was found that the series of molecules undergoes a transition from reverse saturable absorption to saturable absorption, which has certain reference significance for a nonlinear optical field.

Recent advances in the synthesis of thienoindole analogs and their diverse applications

Thiophene-fused heterocyclic organosulfur systems, especially the thieno[3,2-b]indole moiety have attracted significant attention because they show a wide spectrum of biological activities such as antituberculosis, antitumor, antifungal, antibacterial, and human 5-HT5A receptor binding inhibition. Moreover, they also find applications in material chemistry and chemical engineering. Thus, due to their intriguing properties and applications, researchers are continually attempting to create more effective and environment-friendly methods for their preparation. In this review, we present a complete assessment of the current advances in the field of thieno[3,2-b]indole synthesis.

A new convenient synthetic route towards 2-(hetero)aryl-substituted thieno[3,2-b]indoles using Fischer indolization

A number of 2-(hetero)aryl-substituted thieno[3,2-b]indoles have been successfully prepared using an efficient transition-metal-free strategy, involving the Fiesselmann synthesis of methyl 5-(hetero)aryl-3-hydroxythiophene-2-carboxylates from 2-bromo-3-(hetero)arylacrylates and methyl thioglycolate, and the transformation of the synthesized 3-hydroxyesters into the corresponding thiophen-3(2H)-ones, followed by their treatment with arylhydrazines to directly form the targeted structures via Fischer indolization. At the same time, structural variety of the obtained thieno[3,2-b]indoles has been achieved due to a wide range of available starting materials, including both 2-bromo-3-(hetero)arylacrylates and arylhydrazines. In addition, two π-extended molecules, namely 1,4-bis(4H-thieno[3,2-b]indol-2-yl)benzene and 2,5-bis(4H-thieno[3,2-b]indol-2-yl)thiophene, have been synthesized in line with the current approach towards 2-(hetero)arylated thieno[3,2-b]indoles.
