[Development and validation of an observational tool for the assessment of well-being in people with dementia from the perspective of Person Centred Care: List of Well-being Indicators of Wellbeing]

Cross-cultural adaptation and validation of the Spanish version of the Client-Centred Rehabilitation Questionnaire (CCRQ)

PURPOSE

The aim of the study is to present the process of translation, adaptation and validation of the Client-Centred Rehabilitation Questionnaire (CCRQ) in the Spanish context.

METHODS

The process integrates two sequential phases. Phase 1 consists of a questionnaire translation and back-translation process conducted by a panel of experts, and a pilot study. In phase 2, CCRQ-e (Spanish version) was administered to 305 rehabilitation inpatients to collect evidence on the reliability and validity of the instrument.

RESULTS

The exploratory and confirmatory analysis confirmed seven original domains, eliminating four items from the original scale. CCRQ-e has a good internal consistency. Discriminative construct validity distinguished significant differences based on age, educational level, and severity of diagnosis. Criterion validity of the CCRQ and EQ-5D showed negative significant correlations between CCRQ-e and the general perception of health EQ-VAS, and a positive correlation between CCRQ-e and EQ pain and EQ anxiety (higher scores in CCRQ-e mean lower client-centered practice perceived).

CONCLUSIONS

The Spanish version of the CCRQ is suitable for evaluating person-centered rehabilitation from the person's perspective. It includes aspects related to the comfort, decision-making, and participation of the client, as well as questions about the provision of service and the environment.Implications for rehabilitationThe original seven domains of the CCRQ could be replicated in the sample of patients from Spanish rehabilitation services.By eliminating four items from the original scale, the validated scale, known as the CCRQ-e (Spanish version), was obtained.The CCRQ-e allows a reliable and valid evaluation of the perception of the person-centeredness of the Spanish rehabilitation services.The CCRQ-e is the first self-reported measure in Spanish of an individual's experience during the rehabilitation service.

[Validation of the living with osteoarthritis in Spanish population]

Objetivo

Presentar los resultados psicométricos de la escala de convivencia con artrosis (EC-Artrosis) en la población española.

Diseño

Estudio observacional, multicéntrico y transversal, con retest en una fracción de la muestra.

Emplazamiento

Centros públicos y privados de atención primaria y secundaria, así como asociaciones de pacientes con artrosis de Navarra, La Rioja, Madrid, Valencia y Málaga.

Participantes

La muestra estuvo compuesta por un total de 291 pacientes con diagnóstico de artrosis por su médico, en cualquier estadio de la enfermedad de atención primaria o especializada, nacionalidad española, y no hospitalizados.

Intervenciones

De manera adicional a la EC-Artrosis, se incluyó un cuestionario sociodemográfico y escalas para evaluar el apoyo social percibido por el paciente (DUFSS), la calidad de vida relacionada con la salud (WHOQOL-BREF) y la escala de satisfacción con la vida del paciente.

Mediciones principales

Se analizaron las propiedades psicométricas de la escala EC-Artrosis, tales como viabilidad y aceptabilidad, fiabilidad (consistencia interna y estabilidad), precisión y validez de constructo (convergente, interna y para grupos conocidos).

Resultados

El 100% de los datos fueron computados. La calidad de los datos y la aceptabilidad fueron excelentes. El alfa de Cronbach para el total de la escala fue de 0,87 y el índice de homogeneidad de 0,22. El ICC para el total de la escala fue de 0,88. En cuanto a la precisión, el valor del EEM fue de 5,18 (<½DE = 7,47).

Conclusiones

La EC-Artrosis ha mostrado ser un instrumento válido y fiable para evaluar la convivencia del paciente con artrosis a nivel nacional.

[Impact of a Person Centred Care Model on the quality of life, well-being, and thriving in nursing homes. A cross-sectional study]

INTRODUCTION

The aging of the population has led to the introduction of qualitative and quantitative changes in healthcare resources, among which are the introduction of models of person-centred care (PCC), although there is a lack of information on their impact. The objective of this study is to assess the impact of a PCC model on the quality of life, well-being and thriving, in people living in nursing homes METHODS: Cross-sectional study.

POPULATION

all persons who lived indefinitely in the two participating centres that gave their consent. Impact of PCC vs. traditional model was assessed in terms of quality of life, well-being and thriving. Effect size was estimated with Cohen d adjusted for health problems, Charlson index, and presence of depression.

RESULTS

Overall participation was 78% (59/77 persons from the conventional centre and 66/88 from the PCC). The people of the PCC centre had better well-being (d = 0.378) and thriving (d = 0.566). No differences were found in quality of life.

CONCLUSION

The PCC model can have a positive impact on well-being and thriving in persons living in nursing homes.
