Spectral and optical studies of 2-amino-5-nitropyridinium dihydrogen phosphate: a semiorganic nonlinear optical material

Molecular structure, NLO, MEP, NBO analysis and spectroscopic characterization of 2,5-dimethylanilinium dihydrogen phosphate with experimental (FT-IR and FT-Raman) techniques and DFT calculations

Single crystals of 2,5-dimethylanilinium dihydrogen phosphate were grown by slow evaporation method at room temperature. The synthesized compound was characterized by powder X-ray diffraction analysis to confirm its crystalline nature. The optimized molecular structure, vibrational spectra and the optical properties were calculated by the density functional theory (DFT) method using the B3LYP function with the 6-31G(d,p) basis set. Theoretical simulation of infrared and Raman spectra led to excellent overall agreement with the observed spectral patterns. The complete assignments of the vibrational spectra were carried out with the aid of potential energy distribution (PED). The stability of the molecule arising from hyperconjugative interaction and charge delocalization has been analyzed using natural bond orbital (NBO) analysis leading to high nonlinear optical (NLO) activity. The lowering in the HOMO and LUMO energy gap explains the eventual charge transfer interactions that take place within the molecules.

Molecular and crystal structures, vibrational studies and quantum chemical calculations of 3 and 5-nitroderivatives of 2-amino-4-methylpyridine

The crystal structures of 2-amino-4-methyl-3-nitropyridine (I), 2-amino-4-methyl-3,5-dinitropyridine (II) and 2-amino-4-methyl-5-nitropyridine (III) have been determined. The compounds crystallize in the monoclinic P2(1)/n, triclinic P-1 and monoclinic C2/c space groups, respectively. These structures are stabilized by a combination of N-H···N and N-H···O hydrogen bonds and exhibit layered arrangement with a dimeric N-H···N motif in which the molecular units are related by inversion centre. The molecular structures of the studied compounds have been determined using the DFT B3LYP/6-311G(2d,2p) approach and compared to those derived from X-ray studies. The IR and Raman wavenumbers have been calculated from the optimized geometry of monomers and dimers formed in the unit cell and compared to the experimental values obtained from the spectra.

Experimental and theoretical study on the structure and vibrational spectra of β-2-aminopyridinium dihydrogenphosphate

Experimental and theoretical vibrational spectra of β-2-aminopyridinium dihydrogenphosphate (β-2APDP) have been investigated. The FT-IR spectrum of β-2APDP was recorded in the region 4000-400 cm(-1). The optimized molecular structure and theoretical vibrational frequencies of β-2APDP have been investigated using ab initio Hartree-Fock (HF) and density functional B3LYP method with 6-311++G(d,p) basis set. The optimized geometric parameters (bond lengths and bond angles) and theoretical frequencies have been compared with the corresponding experimental data and it is found that they agree well with each other. All the assignments of the theoretical frequencies were performed by potential energy distributions using VEDA 4 program. Furthermore, the used scale factors were obtained from the ratio of the frequency values of the strongest peaks in the experimental and theoretical IR spectra. From the results it was concluded that the B3LYP method is superior to the HF method for the vibrational frequencies.
