Abstract
We proposed in this paper to design and synthesize a series of benzisothiazole-based heterocyclic azo disperse dyes with high resistance to alkali and peroxide. These newly synthesized disperse dyes were confirmed using 1H nuclear magnetic resonance (1H NMR), mass spectroscopy, and a UV-visible spectrophotometer. The resistances to alkali and peroxide were examined by dyeing polyester fabric with these synthesized disperse dyes in sodium hydroxide solution and alkaline hydrogen peroxide solution, respectively. It was found that the disperse dyes having cyano and hydroxyl groups exhibited poor resistance to alkali and peroxide. When the cyano and hydroxyl groups were substituted with ethyl, benzyl, and p-methylbenzyl groups, the synthesized disperse dyes exhibited extremely high resistance to alkali and peroxide. Utilizing the high resistance to alkali and peroxide of synthesized disperse dyes, the polyester suede fabric and polyester/cotton blended fabric could be produced by combining pretreatment with dyeing in one bath. From pilot-plant production based on 1-ton fabric, the one-bath process provided the advantages of saving electric power, steam, water, and man-hour.

Abstract
In the current study, a novel derivative of sulfamethoxazole (a sulfonamide containing anti-biotic) named ZM-093 (IUPAC name: (E)-4-((4-(bis(2-hydroxyethyl)amino)phenyl)diazenyl)-N-(5-methylisoxazole-3-yl)benzenesulfonamide) was synthesized via common diazotization-coupling reactions from sulfamethoxazole and subsequently characterized through NMR/FT-IR spectroscopy. After evaluation, the compound was geometrically optimized at the DFT level of theory with BL3YP method and 6/31++G (d,p) basis set and from the optimized structure, several molecular descriptors important in the biological reactivity of the compound, such as global reactivity parameters, molecular electrostatic potential, average local ionization energy, and drug-likeness features of the compound were computationally analyzed. The experimental in vitro investigations of the interaction between ZM-093 and heat shock protein 70 (HSP70), a protein that is highly expressed in several types of cancers, exhibited a significant inhibitory effect against the chaperone activity of HSP70 for the titled compound (P-value < 0.01) and the comparison between the experimental studies with the mentioned computational analysis, as well as molecular docking, illustrated that ZM-093 may inhibit HSP70 through binding to its substrate-binding domain. Finally, by taking all the previous results into account, a new method for assessing the inhibitory activity of ligand to HSP70 is introduced based on protonography, a recently developed method that is dependent on the catalytic activity of carbonic anhydrase on polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis.

Abstract
Cobalt(II) and copper(II) complexes of the (3-methyl-1-phenyl-4-[E-(1iazinyl-2-yl)1iazinyl]-1H-pyrazole-5-ol) ligand were obtained by the diazotization reaction of 5-methyl-2-phenyl-2,4-dihydro-3H-pyrazol-3-one with 2-amino pyridine. The synthesized compounds were confirmed by analytical, and spectroscopic analyses (like, UV-Visible, FT-IR, NMR, and mass spectroscopy). Calf thymus DNA interaction with metal complexes is inspected by UV-Visible spectra, viscosity measurements, and thermal denaturation techniques. The intrinsic binding constant (Kb) was found to be 1.17 × 106 M-1, and 0.98 × 106 M-1 for Co(II) and Cu(II) complexes respectively. The Cleavage of pUC-19 DNA was monitored by gel electrophoresis. The computerized in silico molecular dockage studies of the composites with the target receptor Glu-6p and results showed that the compounds are potent drugs for the target enzyme. Further, the optimized structure of the azo dye ligand was obtained by the density functional theory (DFT) by Gaussian09 program by the RB3LYP at 6-311 G (++, g, d, p) basis set. Furthermore, screened for the bacterial action in contradiction of pathogenic organism's gram-negative Klebsiella pneumonia, gram-positive Bacillus subtills by a diffusion method.Supplemental data for this article is available online at https://doi.org/10.1080/15257770.2021.1991373 .

Abstract
In this study, for the first time, molecular modeling and antiparasitic activity studies were carried out on some azo dyes containing uracil, 6-amino-5-[(4-nitrophenyl) diazenyl] pyrimidine-2,4 (1H, 3H)-dione (dye I) and 6-amino-5-[(4-bromophenyl) diazenyl] pyrimidin-2,4 (1H, 3H)-dione (dye II), which were resynthesized using the same method in the literature and whose molecular structures were confirmed using FTIR and 1H-NMR methods. In molecular modeling study, all calculations were performed using DFT/B3LYP/6-311++G(d,p) method. The molecular structures of the possible tautomeric forms of dyes I and II were optimized, and their molecular total energies were calculated in the gas phase and DMSO solvent. IR and 1H-NMR spectral data of the possible tautomeric forms of dyes were obtained, and theoretical spectral data were compared with experimental ones. The evaluations show that, for both dyes, the spectral data of the imine-diketo-hydrazone form, which has the lowest energy and is hence determined to be the most stable form, are in agreement with the experimental ones. In antiparasitic activity study, dyes I and II were tested for the first time against parasites Leishmania infantum, Leishmania major, Leishmania tropica promastigotes, and Trichomonas vaginalis trophozoites. In vitro antileishmanial activities against Leishmania promastigotes were tested by microdilution broth assay with Alamar Blue in RPMI 1640 medium, and in vitro trichomonacidal activities against Trichomonas vaginalis parasite were tested using TYM medium. In tests, antileishmanial and trichomonacidal effects were determined by comparing the obtained minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) and minimum lethal concentration (MLC) values with those obtained for standard drugs (amphotericin B and metronidazole, respectively).

Abstract
The present study deals with designing and synthesizing novel dyes using the drug combination of edaravone and azo compounds which can be used as an indicator for anions and cations. The desired product synthesis was accomplished via a two-step process involving diazotizing the aromatic amines followed by the resultant salts coupling with edaravone. The resulting dyes were obtained with high yields under mild conditions. The structures of the dyes were identified with UV-vis, FT-IR, 1H NMR and 13C NMR spectra and CHN analysis. To investigate the solvatochromism effect, the interaction of different solvents with the selected dyes was evaluated using several parameters including the dielectric constant, refractive index, hydrogen bond donating ability, hydrogen bond accepting ability and dipolarity/polarizability scale. To achieve deep understanding about the stability and geometrical characteristics of the azo–hydrazo tautomers of the synthesized dyes and their UV-visible spectra prediction, some DFT calculations were also carried out on the synthesized dyes. The antibacterial activities of some synthesized compounds were also evaluated using the disk diffusion method. The results revealed different activity of the selected synthesized dyes for antibacterial tests against selected Gram positive and Gram negative bacteria. The present study deals with designing and synthesizing novel dyes using the drug combination of edaravone and azo compounds which can be used as an indicator for anions and cations.![]()

Abstract
Positional isomers of benzothiazole-pyridone and benzothiazole-pyrazole containing disperse azo dyes are reported. These heterocyclic azo dyes are decorated with 'separate ESIPT core' and show emission in seven solvents of different polarity. After application on polyester fabric, "very good to excellent" light and washing fastness properties were observed. Thermal stability of 'dyed fabric' was analysed by sublimation fastness test- and found 'very good to excellent' ratings at 210 °C. Ultraviolet Protection Factor (UPF) analysis of four 'dyed fabric' indicates the blocking 96-97% of UV radiation. Dyes were found effective on gram positive and negative bacteria by agar diffusion method and all the 'dyed fabrics' also showed more than 92% or 94% reduction of S. aureus or K. pneumoniae respectively by 'AATCC 100' method. Structures of the dyes were optimized using Density Functional Theory (DFT) to deduce stable tautomeric form. Calculated HOMO-LUMO gap is then compared with antibacterial activities. Electrophilicity index and lightfastness property were also compared and found to have very good correlation.

Abstract
In this study, a new pyrimidine-based chemosensor (PyrCS) has been developed for sequential detection of copper (II) and cyanide ions. The PyrCS has revealed high sensitivity and selectivity toward copper ion over other metal ions in aqueous media. The PyrCS as an optical probe exhibited a distinct color change and a bathochromic shift in UV spectra in the presence of copper ion in a few seconds due to the formation of stable complex (PyrCS-Cu2+). The results confirmed that the PyrCS has a widely linear detection range of 0.3-30 μM toward Cu2+. The calculated limit of detection for Cu2+ ions was low as 0.116 μM. Moreover, the fluorescent intensity of PyrCS at 507 nm was significantly quenched in the presence of Cu2⁺ and Fe2⁺ ions. Additionally, complex PyrCS-Cu2+ was successfully used to detect cyanide ions via Cu2+ displacement approach. The free PyrCS was recovered after adding the CN‾ ions in a few seconds due to the formation of the stable copper cyanide complex Cu(CN)x. The calculated LOD for CN‾ ions was low as 0.320 μM. The data also clarified that the other competing anions did not create a clear color change in solutions. Since the proposed method could provide a vivid colorimetric response in the presence of detected analytes within the pH range of 3-9, we can claim that the developed chemosensor can be utilized in any physical and biological conditions.

Abstract
Disperse azo dyes are synthesized and characterized by 1H NMR, 13C NMR, LC-MS, Elemental analysis, UV-visible, and fluorescence spectroscopy methods. The azo dyes show absorption maxima in the range of 460-493 nm. Dye with benzothiazole moiety i.e. VM7a and VM8a show a bathochromic shift in absorption maxima of 90 and 26 nm respectively in a polar aprotic solvent (i.e. DMF, DMSO). The dyes show deep red emission in a polar aprotic solvent (i.e. DMF, DMSO) with a Stokes shift of 62 to 180 nm. The dyes are applied on polyester fabric and the dyed fabric exhibit excellent to a good wash and sublimation fastness property. They show a very good UPF rating and almost blocking 95 to 98% of harmful UV radiation. Antibacterial activity of dyed polyester fabric is assessed qualitatively and quantitatively by using AATCC 147 and 100 test method respectively. The dyed fabrics exhibit excellent antibacterial activities against S.aureus (Gram-positive) and K. pneumoniae (Gram-negative). DFT method was used to identify the stable conformer. HOMO-LUMO gap and global reactivity descriptors were calculated using DFT method and correlated with antibacterial activities and light fastness properties respectively.

Abstract
In this review, specific therapeutic and medicinal advantages including antiviral, antibacterial,
antifungal and antitumor, strategies for drug designing, structure-activity relationship, advances in
the syntheses of azo and hippuric acid derivatives of more than 50 compounds have been discussed
since 2009-2018. It is found that phenyl-diazenyl azo derivatives and pyridinyl substituted hippuric acid
derivatives showed promising antiretroviral potential. The incorporation of azo functionality to the
respective quinolones and coumarin moieties and the insertion of thiocarbazone to hippuric acid displayed
immense antibacterial activities. While, azo and hippuric acid derivatives of triazole and phenyl
species gave maximum fungicidal as well as cytotoxic activities.

Abstract
The present work describes the design and synthesis of simple colorimetric chemosensors based on Schiff-base for highly selective sensing of cyanide and fluoride ions. The chemosensor S2, containing an electron withdrawing group (EWG), displayed selective sensing properties for both cyanide and fluoride ions. The interaction of S2 with F– and CN– ions provides remarkable colorimetric responses from yellow to purple, enabling naked-eye sensing without any spectroscopic instrumentation. The mechanism of anion binding with chemosensor S2 showed one-to-one stoichiometry by Job’s plot. The mechanism of interaction between the S2 and CN– ions has been confirmed by the 1H NMR titration experiments. Furthermore, the detection limits of chemosensor S2 towards F– and CN– ions were found to be 3.7 and 1.2 μmol/L, respectively.
