Solvothermal synthesis and photocatalytic activities of cubic potassium tantalite and cuprum doped potassium tantalite

Facile construction of g-C3N4/ZnIn2S4 nanocomposites for enhance Cr(VI) photocatalytic reduction

Hexavalent chromium (Cr(VI)) is the nether-most toxic environmental pollutants. In this work, g-C₃N₄/ZnIn₂S₄ photocatalyst was constructed to investigate their potential application for economical visible-light photocatalytic reduction of Cr(VI). Photocatalysts phase and microstructure were analyzed by XRD, SEM and TEM techniques. Elements were confirmed by EDS and XPS techniques. Optical properties were revealed by DRS and emission spectra. The generation and activeness of photogenerated electron-hole pairs were revealed by the emission spectra, photocurrent response and Nyquist plots. The result is perfectly displayed that g-C₃N₄/ZnIn₂S₄ has potential application in photocatalysis field and g-C₃N₄/ZnIn₂S₄ has higher photocatalytic occupation than that of g-C₃N₄ and ZnIn₂S₄.

Engineered magnetic oxides nanoparticles as efficient sorbents for wastewater remediation: a review

The rapid urbanization and industrialization is causing worldwide water pollution, calling for advanced cleaning methods. For instance, pollutant adsorption on magnetic oxides is efficient and very practical due to the easy separation from solutions by an magnetic field. Here we review the synthesis and performance of magnetic oxides such as iron oxides, spinel ferrites, and perovskite oxides for water remediation. We present structural, optical, and magnetic properties. Magnetic oxides are also promising photocatalysts for the degradation of organic pollutants. Antimicrobial activities and adsorption of heavy metals and radionucleides are also discussed.

Hydrothermal preparation of novel rGO-KTaO3 nanocubes with enhanced visible light photocatalytic activity

In this study, nanocubes KTaO₃-reduced graphene oxide (rGO-KTaO₃) photocatalysts were synthesized by a facile hydrothermal method. Different technical methods were carried out to characterize the as-prepared compounds. UV-Vis spectra show that the absorption sideband of the complexes red-shift to visible light region, which enhances the light utilization. Meanwhile, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) reveals that the graphene oxide (GO) in the composite has been partially reduced, leading to more effective electron transport and thus improving the photocatalytic efficiency. Furthermore, photocatalytic degradation efficiency of Methylene blue (MB) and Rhodamine B (RhB) in the presence of rGO-KTaO₃ reaches 96% and 98%, which is 10 times of that of KTaO₃. The synthesized rGO-KTaO₃ has good photocatalytic properties. Moreover, the stability of this photocatalyst is particularly excellent. The detailed mechanism of photocatalysis has been carefully discussed in the article.
