Abstract
Smart product-service systems (PSSs) have emerged as a solution for the ongoing digitalization of products and services, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic and under social distancing. However, the conditions for smart PSS adoption remain unclear, requiring the identification of driving attributes and the interrelationships of the attributes for smart PSS implementation in the healthcare industry. This study contributes by determining the cause-effect interrelationship among smart PSS attributes and by identifying and prioritizing the criteria that drive smart PSS adoption in chronic disease management. The study constructed a five-aspect theoretical model to deepen the understanding of digital health service adoption drivers. Data were collected from 233 healthcare industry practitioners to validate the smart PSS adoption attributes. Exploratory factor analysis (EFA) determined the structure of the attributes, the reliability of the criteria, and the validity of the aspects. The EFA result suggested 24 valid and reliable criteria drivers of smart PSS adoption in the healthcare industry, and they were grouped into five aspects. Following the smart PSS literature and stakeholder theory, the aspects are named digital health service adoption, intelligent connected products, stakeholder communication, environmental benefits, and use schemes. In addition, 17 practitioners treating patients with chronic conditions were interviewed to understand the interrelationships among the aspects and criteria. The fuzzy decision-making trial and evaluation laboratory (FDEMATEL) determined the cause-effect interrelationships based on their dependence and driving power. The FDEMATEL results indicated that intelligent connected products and stakeholder communication are the causal and focal attributes of improving digital health service adoption and providing alternative use schemes. For patients and physicians, the driving criteria include managing data, multifunctionality, data reliability, interoperability, patient communication, and resource efficiency. The theoretical and managerial implications are discussed.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION Calculating patients' medication availability from dispensing or refill data is a common method to estimate adherence. The most often used measures, such as the medication possession ratio (MPR), average medication supplies over an arbitrary period. Averaging masks the variability of refill behavior over time. GOAL To derive a new absolute adherence estimate from dispensing data. METHOD Dispensing histories of patients with 19 refills of direct oral anticoagulants (DOAC) between 1 January 2008 and 31 December 2017 were extracted from 39 community pharmacies in Switzerland. The difference between the calculated and effective refill day (ΔT) was determined for each refill event. We graphed ΔT and its dichotomized version (dΔT) against the MPR, calculated mean ΔT and mean dΔT per refill, and applied cluster analysis. RESULTS We characterized 2204 refill events from 116 DOAC patients. MPR was high (0.975 ± 0.129) and showed a positive correlation with mean ΔT. Refills occurred on average 17.8 ± 27.9 days "too early", with a mean of 75.8 ± 20.2 refills being "on time". Four refill behavior patterns were identified including constant gaps within or at the end of the observation period, which were critical. CONCLUSION We introduce a new absolute adherence estimate ΔT that characterizes every refill event and shows that the refill behavior of DOAC patients is dynamic.

Abstract
Medication nonadherence continues to be a serious issue in a range of long-term medical conditions and has been studied extensively over the past few decades. However, despite the plethora of research studies on medication adherence, poor methodological rigour in many studies has contributed to limited generalisability of the positive findings, limited impact on patients' medication adherence, and inability to compare between studies. This paper focuses on current guidelines designed specifically for research on medication adherence. It discusses key elements to consider during study design, selection of adherence measurements, and reporting on medication adherence research, to ensure a higher quality of research in medication adherence. Overall, there appears to be variations in adherence terminology reported in the literature despite improvements in defining medication taking behaviour and the availability of taxonomies. In addition, limited guidance exists on how best to measure adherence. Recommendations are provided on appropriate adherence measures for the adherence behaviour being investigated, including careful consideration of adherence concepts, validity of adherence instruments, appropriate instrument selection, definition of nonadherence threshold, and how to report medication adherence. Improving adherence research requires greater clarity and standardisation of descriptions of nonadherence behaviour, increased methodological rigour in study designs, better selection of adherence measurements, and comprehensive reporting.

Abstract
Introduction: A pharmacist-led intervention in Community Health Centers (CHCs) in Indonesia targeted at patients with type 2 diabetes non-adherent to antihypertensive drugs resulted in a significant improvement in adherence to these drugs. The aim of this study was to evaluate the process of implementation this intervention intended to improve adherence to antihypertensive drugs from both the pharmacist and the patient perspective. Methods: Using the RE-AIM (Reach, Effectiveness, Adoption, Implementation and Maintenance) framework, we conducted a focus group among pharmacists (N = 5) and a survey among patients with complete follow-up (N = 44) participating in the intervention group. Results: All pharmacists adopted the provided training and found support tools useful. The pharmacists implemented the intervention as intended (adequate intervention fidelity >69%). Factors relevant for implementation included having sufficient time and confidence, home visits for specific patients, multidisciplinary collaboration, and availability of a personal counseling room. To maintain the intervention, the need for practical guidance and support from health care authorities was mentioned. Most patients (96%) were satisfied with the information provided by the pharmacists and they believed the tailored counselling was helpful. Most patients (84%) reported that the duration of counselling was sufficient. The large majority of patients would like to receive the counselling regularly. Conclusion: Positive effects of the pharmacist-led intervention can be explained by adequate levels of reach, adoption and implementation in the participating CHCs. For successful implementation and maintenance in Indonesia or other low-and middle-income countries, sufficient training, resources, multidisciplinary collaboration, guidance and support from health care authorities are expected to be important.
